Pineapple Fried Rice and Mussaman Curry
Erica J.

I came here on a summer weekday evening. We were seating right away. The menu is extensive, with a lot to choose from. We had the Thai wings as an appetizer. My friend ordered the pineapple fried rice. It was good, standard. I ordered the mussamen curry (coconut based). It was DELICIOUS! I ordered a cognac-based French 75. The pour was generous; I only needed one. They surprised me with bread pudding dessert for my birthday. I look forward to exploring more of the menu.

Ring the bell again it is a TKO! There is nothing about this restaurant that you won't love. It is beautiful and modern on the inside and the culinary dishes are flavorful, fresh and crave worthy. Today I worked late so I ordered and picked my order up to go. It was ready when I arrived and the customer service was friendly. I had their seafood crispy egg rolls, the pho shrimp soup with a 48 hour marinade broth that gave my tastebuds a natural high and the tender Asian Bangkok ribs. Everything was delicious and rated 10 out of 10.

Food Service Ambience Go for lunch or dinner to sit in the dining room, spacious bar area, or patio. The servers and chef crew are polite, responsive, and just amazing. The food is fresh, seasoned well, and served in huge portions. Can't wait to visit again!

Went one week and returned the next. It was that good! I feel like I have been let in on a secret. I have passed many times and a friend suggested we go. So glad we did! There are many varieties of Thai rolls and lists of seafood and non options for all. We had the asparagus and bacon rolls. Very good and crispy plus bacon so there! I had the chicken with the peanut sauce very tasty. My friends had something of the Red Sea I think?! Which they both loved. Full of mussels and such. I snagged a bite and it was good. Drinks are also good and they offer specialty cocktails. Desserts on display as soon as you walk in so you know if you need to save room. Inside is nice, has a small bar and bar area with a nicely decorated dining room. Very cozy. Waiter was nice as well.

Garlic Chicken, Thai Chicken Egg Rolls

The outside seating area was lovely! I got the Thai Egg Rolls to start and they were so good, especially right out of the kitchen. For my main course, I went with the Garlic Chicken Stir-fry and it was also tasty. I do think it's interesting that they don't allow substitutions for the side of white rice though. And my Raspberry iced tea was honestly a little too sweet, so I watered it down with my water. To be honest, the service is what brought my rating down the most. My waiter was open with me that he was new, but I felt like the other waitstaff should've provided more support. There was an extended period where I paused eating because I was out of both my water and iced tea and ended up asking a waitress from another table for more. And then it still took a while... they were friendly, but I don't think that's the best way to train the future of your restaurant.

This place is so amazing. Came here for a baby shower for work. It did not disappoint. So ecstatic by all of the custom cocktails that went with every order. We started out with the Oakbrook martini which had a hint of green tea and mojito so delicious. To accompany our Oakbrook martini we had an egg roll which was also fabulous. Moving on to the next event we had a coconut soup with vegetables, which was very flavourful. For the next course we had the main course, which was mango short rib with mashed potatoes. Let me tell you the short rib was so tender and so Exquisite I didn't know what to do. I ate that whole darn plate because I did not want to leave anything. Throughout the evening we had tons of custom drinks including an espresso martini which was to die for. Also their red blend wine was Smith and Hook which is so tasty. For dessert we had this chocolate eggroll. It was good however I need it more. So I ordered the vanilla cheesecake and the hummingbird cake to go. Icing on top of the cake, the head chef came out talk to our work party. She also was delightful because she talked about her recipes and how the restaurant started. This place is a gem check it out!!!

Went by here on a recommendation from a friend. Atmosphere is very nice.. service was very good as well. Food was just OK to me. Order a few things but nothing stood out other then the Pineapple Upside Down Martini!! Was incredibly good! The drink menu has a very large variety and also a large selection of wines. Didn't get pics of the food but I would give the place another chance just because of atmosphere and the drinks.

Noodles were mushy and bland. It was still edible. I've never had bland Thai food before.

We made a reservation at Sunda to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends before flying out to…read moreMexico, and it was a must-visit for me because I've eaten here twice before and still dream about the Wagyu Crispy Rice. The evening started off wonderfully. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the food absolutely delivered. The Wagyu Crispy Rice remains a 10/10 and is worth ordering every single time. We also shared the fried chicken and pork belly bao buns, which my husband and our friends couldn't stop talking about. Everyone loved their meals, and we left completely stuffed. Unfortunately, one interaction put a damper on an otherwise great dinner. My husband has had a white fish allergy for 32 years. He can safely eat certain fish like tuna, salmon, and trout, so he usually has limited sushi options but still enjoys it. He ordered what appeared to be a safe roll, but after the first bite realized it contained masago. We asked what type of fish their masago comes from, and the server confirmed it was from a white fish. Thankfully, he noticed immediately and didn't have a reaction. The server did offer to have the roll remade, which we appreciated. However, before doing so, she repeatedly told us that she and the chef "think all fish are white," implying that his allergy didn't really make sense. Hearing that several times felt dismissive of a very real allergy he's managed his entire life. Food allergies aren't something anyone should have to defend while dining out. To end the meal, they kindly brought out The Ridiculous dessert and the coconut cheesecake for my husband's birthday, and both were delicious. However, the moment was a bit overshadowed when the server mentioned, "We normally don't give these as birthday desserts, but because of what happened, we did." While I'm sure it wasn't intended that way, it came across as passive-aggressive rather than hospitable. Overall, the food was outstanding and absolutely lives up to Sunda's reputation. I'd happily return for the Wagyu Crispy Rice and everything else we tried. My only criticism is that a little more sensitivity and understanding around food allergies--and a bit more tact in how situations are communicated--would have made an excellent dining experience truly exceptional.

By far, the strangest food service I've had in a long time. Our table of 4 was seated promptly…read moreafter showing up a bit early to our reservation. The restaurant wasn't busy at 7pm on Sunday. We ordered a few drinks, a few different dishes, and an entry from the kids' menu. We quickly received our drinks, which were delicious and exciting. A balanced drink containing tamarind? Come on! We then got our first dish, the Wagyu crispy rice. Amazing. Delicious. Then our sushi came out. Also great! Then Adobe fried rice with pork belly. Super satisfying! But then... a total stall. We hadn't yet received our edamame or our chicken entree. Our server asked if we wanted the check. At that point, our food had time to sit and no one was hungry. So our server asked if we were ready for the check. Sure. Our check arrived at the same time our chicken dish showed up. And still no edamame, which was an appetizer. We were also given another table's bill, which was totally different than ours and showed a credit for something and a zero balance. It was fixed, and we ended up paying our $50ish per person with the only adjustment being that we didn't pay for the edamame we never received. Obvious disconnect between the kitchen and service. But the food we did receive was exceptional. Drinks were novel and playful. But forgetting food and a weird service pace really diminished the overall elegance of Sunda. I feel like we drastically overpaid for the dining experience. We are on a family vacation, so instead of memories of a great meal we instead have a story of that messed up service and the weirdness that surrounded.
