If you're passing through Why, AZ, Granny's Kitchen is an absolute gem and a must-stop before heading into Mexico! We stopped in for breakfast and it was spot on--fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The Mexican food here is authentic and delicious, definitely worth making time for. The place is very clean, the staff is friendly, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. It's the perfect pit stop: fill your belly, grab some gas (this is your last stop before the border!), and hit the road. Highly recommend for travelers--great food, great service, and super convenient location.

Thought we'd try what appears to be the only eatery in Why, Arizona. We were impressed by how busy and modern the restaurant was, and how many families were there at 1:30 PM. Service was prompt and cheerful. The chips were light and salty, the salsa was quite spicy (DW declined). I wanted to eat light, so I had the grilled cheese, which I discovered came with fries, so there goes that. For a simple dish, it was perfect, as were the large-cut fries. DW had the patty melt. "It was good!" was her review. Soda sold by the can. We'll almost certainly go back for Mexican before we travel on.

We came to stay over in Ajo and eat here Saturday morning. But they will be closed tomorrow. Next time. One of the top 5 breakfast joints in Arizona.

Super cute mom and pop type of spot. Quickly greeted and offered a seat. I was ordering to go but appreciated the offer. It was busy but not packed. The waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. I'm vegetarian and she made some suggestions. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito add French fries and enchilada style (red and green sauce). It came with a side of guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. It came out nice and hot. I was trying to eat and drive...no bueno. It was too good to put down so I ended up pulling over to eat half lol. Again for a quick grab-a-bite, passing through type of spot, it's a yes for me!

One of the best... anywhere in the southwest. Great food, friendly attentive service, comfortable and interesting vibe with decor you can't miss!

So this is a hidden gem. Im afraid to but i need to share it with thise crossing the border into…read moremexico. First let me explain something about tacos de cabeza al vapor in Mexico: this type of tacos are consumed and consider a breakfast meal. Yes you eat this in the morning and thats why you see this joints open so early and close so early(most of the time they run out). For this reason i make it my mission to not cross the border anything later than 10 am. You have a couple of options in this wonderful and humble establishment. Cabeza(cheek, cows head beef, sounds weird but truly delicious) and Lengua(beef tongue), as well as conzome(the broth the meat is cooked in with cilantro and onion). The cabeza is would say is better than the lengua. It never disappoints and always full of flavor. They load up each taco and i believe its $15 pesos per taco, i never ask for price i just order and pay after I'm done ;-). And no I'm not worried, these are the mist humble and respectful family you will meet. Aside from the meat their tortillas are unique and quite good. They are different and you will not know what I'm saying until you try a taco. I usually get 4 or 5 tacos and a consome. I prefer the red salsa as it the spiciest and has the most flavor. But they have the green which is also good but less spicy. Try this place and dont be scared. Its your typical hole in the wall mexican taco stand.

Our hostess/cashier/server really can do it all, she works super hard I can't remember her name but if I could I'd include her in here, she's incredible even bringing my girlfriends purse out running to catch us before we left. I really appreciate her for that above the good service. I really liked the theming of the restaurant I'm sure that's what gets a lot of people in here. They have a small yet cool gift shop (I personally like the mugs and shirts). Over the food was a rough 7/10, about average. The onion rings were pretty good I'd recommend them (they're a little sweet). Overall I'd probably visit again if I'm in the area. Pictured below is my already eaten burger and my not yet finished fries/onion rings.

The open face roast beef sandwhich was large thick slices of cheap semi-cold meat on big slices of cheap sandwich bread, instant mashed potatoes and green beans dumped right out of a can onto the plate. The club sandwich had cheap meat and the worst cheese I've ever had, that thick imitation stuff that overwhelms you, even after taking half the cheese off. We both agreed we should have just gone to Mcdonald's, which we both agreed would have been much less of a regret after eating, but would have at least tasted good in the moment!.

Despite the food being obnoxiously over-priced, we would drive 30 minutes there for burgers or pizza because they are just so good and we love the atmosphere. However, we will not be back. And I say this as a huge dog lover and owner of at least one for 25+ years myself. The last time we were there, a couple brought in their dog and bellied right up to the INSIDE bar two seats down from me and my fiancé. Every single server and bartender working at the time went over to pet, hold, love on and get licked by the pup. Then they returned to serving food and making drinks so quickly that it was impossible for there to have been time to wash their hands. We told our server, after she came back from petting the dog, that we changed our minds about ordering food. "Great! I like it." she said. Clueless. And disappointing.
