Great new hang out in an area that is losing quality restaurants and business faster than you can blink. There are 2 bars here, one on the rooftop and another on the ground floor level. Both are designed beautifully with an indoor outdoor seamless transition and feel airy and relaxing to lounge at. The food and drinks are also great at the restaurant upstairs. Seating requires reservations most of the time but the views and atmosphere are great. I just wish we had more establishments like this to make going out on nice evening more fun. read more

My friend and I came to celebrate her mom's birthday with a small cute brunch; however, the end of the day resulted with being ambushed by our server in the women's restroom. We came for drinks and some food, I know it is expected to leave a tip but my friend just wanted to give her mom a nice experience for her birthday so we came here. I understand tipping is nice but it shouldn't be expected. It's not our fault that you're not paid a living wage. This wasn't the main issue though, it was that the literal server came after us into the women's restroom demanding an explanation for why there was no tip. This was completely inappropriate and we felt horrified being followed into the restroom by a male server. Horrible experience that we went through and totally ruined the morning. We didn't get his name, he was a 40 year old man that told us his background was from Chihuahua, Mexico, he had a full beard and was wearing his hair in a man bun. First off, as stated, this is a rooftop restaurant, although there's not much of a "view" aside from some Pasadena buildings but just being outdoors is lovely and we had a great time! Servers were great, very attentive and helpful with any requests we had. We were very indecisive so it was great that they gave us time and suggestions as well. All of the food was great. Osa is such a pretty rooftop in Pasadena. We had reservations and were promptly seated. The views were amazing and so was our service. We ordered a couple of mocktails to start with- the Merry Roses and Beetroot. Both drinks were refreshing and uplifting. We shared the peach burrata salad, king salmon crudo, and beef carpaccio. Peaches were not in season, so they were replaced with pear slices for the salad, and it was nice and light. The presentation for the crudo was lovely and really delicious. The beef carpaccio was my least favorite. It needed a bit more flavor. For our entree, we opted for the grilled swordfish. This fish was moist and so flavorful. I wanted to spend my birthday at a rooftop restaurant that was more on the casual side. After attending a Yelp event here when they first opened last summer, I thought this would be the perfect place. WRONG!!!! They use "Open Table" to make reservations where they specifically ask if it's a "Special Occasion" as well as for any requests. WHY BOTHER??? This place did not even acknowledge any of my requests. When we arrived, Emma, the hostess was so busy talking to a female server that she completely ignored us. That already took my review down a star. After waiting a few minutes, I had to politely say "HELLO," in order to get her attention. BTW - no apology was given! She then sat us at a table in the middle of the place and told me that no other tables were available with a view only by the bar (which was extremely LOUD!) That was complete BS since after we sat she managed to sit a few other couples at the long table I requested!!! Gets better! We sit down next to a couple of women with one saying the "F Bomb" every other word!" I actually started counting her! She was up to 13 F bombs every 5 minutes... We sat for at least 10 minutes, ignored again until I asked Emma as she walked by if we had a server. 5 minutes later our server Alejandro, with NO personality, or as my mother would say, " Dead From The Neck Up," came to our table. We ordered drinks which finally came when our appies came! The menu is limited but we did enjoy the beet salad and the "Hand Pressed Tostones." We also shared a burger for $28! Osa Rooftop feels VERY LA - a busy hotel rooftop restaurant that's clearly a favorite for people who work in the area and desperately need a drink after clocking out. Great views of the mountains and incredibly quick service. We came in at 7 and were out with some time to spare before our show started at the Playhouse at 8. The seasonal cocktails my girlfriend and I had weren't the best -- I had the spritz which was a tad too tart for my liking and my friend got the beet cocktail and then complained that it was too earthy. Not the restaurant's fault because HELLO it is made with beet what did you expect? The steak frites were pretty great, my only note is that it sat in a bit too much olive oil on the plate and made some of the frites taste regrettably oily. Perfectly cooked piece of meat though. The burger looked really good too. This big group of big men had the table behind us and were standing the whole time like Neanderthals! We were late five minutes and the hosts made us wait half an hour because we're late and there were tables ready and they sat people prior to us when their reservation was after us and the table they sat us was empty from the start. Service was friendly and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening. The only part of the experience that felt a little unusual was the payment process when charging the meal to my hotel room. I was asked to provide ID despite already being a registered guest at the property. I've been staying at Marriott hotels for well over a decade, including higher-end brands and resorts, and this was honestly the first time I've encountered that. I even asked about it and was told it was because sometimes people "forget they aren't guests at the hotel" when trying to charge meals to rooms. The staff member was polite, but the explanation honestly felt a bit odd and made the interaction feel slightly uncomfortable compared to what I'm used to at Marriott properties. They had a prix fixe menu, and in my experience, that's not always the best way to understand what a restaurant can really do. But this one totally worked. First off: the views are amazing. How have I lived here all these years and never noticed that green lookout on top of the building across the street?! I never would've seen it without this view, and now I can't unsee it. The waitstaff was friendly, kind, and genuinely helpful -- especially appreciated since I have some kind of lifelong curse where I spill things on light-colored shirts at important moments. Thank you for the soda water offer before I could even possibly ask . The curated menu for the night was spot on. Almost everything was excellent and cooked perfectly. The only thing we didn't love was the vinegar-heavy marinade on the oysters -- a little too sour for us. And honestly, when I saw someone at a nearby table make that face after trying one, I knew I wasn't alone. But aside from that? The steak, the fish, the pasta, the tuna tartare, the artichokes -- yum, yum, yum. We were blown away and pleasantly surprised. A cute aesthetic rooftop with such a cute private entrance to go up. By private I mean you don't have to go through the actual hotel to get to the rooftop. Drinks were well made and start around $18 for the cocktails; but they don't have many of their own curated cocktails. But I do think they have a full bar so they should be able to make what you want. For food we ordered a few different appetizers; carpaccio was definitely a 10/10 with a yummy citrus sauce and perfect potato chips, truffle string fries were also a hit with a perfect balance of truffle and garlic, tuna appetizer was okay, it could have more flavor or at least some salt. Cesar salad was also yummy, there cesar here has cappers which I loved. For entrees we had steak frittes. Steak was small for what I was expecting and they charge an upgrade for truffle fries or Brussels sprouts. Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and had a savory citrus sweet glaze with almonds. Overall food was great. Service was decent, although I would have appreciated for our server to check in on how food was tasting after things came out. We didn't see him other than taking our order, running our drinks, and brining the check. Other than that the food runner was more helpful. Cheers to her! Entrance is right on Colorado, separate from AC Hotel. I made a reservation just in case, we were seated immediately. Service was quick and easy. We came here for Father's Day, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I should have trusted the Yelp reviews. Several reviewers mentioned that the steak was tough and chewy, but those comments were from about eight months ago, so I assumed the restaurant had improved by now. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. My daughter ordered the Steak Frites and couldn't even cut through the steak with the steak knife, let alone chew it. We ordered it medium rare, and while it looked almost raw when it arrived, it was somehow still incredibly tough and chewy. It was so difficult to eat that my jaw actually started hurting from chewing it. I brought it to the waitress's attention. Looking back, I probably should have asked for it to be removed from the bill entirely. Instead, she offered to replace it with a different cut of steak that she said would be more tender but cost more. And I fell for it, I agreed. The replacement steak arrived with only peppercorn sauce and no fries or sides (which she had mentioned beforehand), but what she didn't mention was how unpleasant the sauce was. At that point, I honestly wished we had just gone to Houston's. The one positive thing I can say is that we were seated on a side with a nice view of the surrounding buildings and street, which was enjoyable. Food - 4/5 - We got drinks at the bar as well as some small plates to share. The small plates we chose were the tuna tartare and crispy Brussels sprouts. I ordered the mocktail - Merry Roses, and my friends tried a cocktail from the menu, Drop the Beet and the Cucumber Vesper. Mocktails are $15 per drink and the cocktails were $18 per drink. Wine prices vary, per glass or by the bottle. Starting with the drinks, I found the Merry Roses to taste like grapefruit sparkling water with a hint more of grapefruit and lemon. In my opinion it was not worth $15. I should have ordered a mocktail version of something else instead. It was alright as a drink but it was kind of underwhelming. The Cucumber Vesper was cucumber, gin and vodka, which was exactly as it sounds. The Drop the Beet was a bit tart with tequila, I would wish it was sweeter if I ordered it but that is my personal preference. Overall, the drinks were alright but I do see room for improvement in terms of recipes or expanding their signature menu. As for food, both dishes were small plates and great for sharing. The tuna tartare was fresh and paired well with the avocado. The fried nori it came with was a bit flimsy, possibly due to the humidity in the air as we are on the rooftop, I wish it had a little bit more crisp crunch by having some tempura batter on it. At least that's how I've had it in the past at other establishments or at home, I find it helps with the structural integrity of the crisp to eat with the tuna. Besides that, I really liked it. The Brussels sprouts were my favourite though. I loved the dressing and how crisp the leaves were. I would definitely recommend at least getting the brussels sprouts if you chose anything from the small plate menu. Price - $$$ - I think everything is slightly overpriced compared to what you would expect for what the item is, but it is due to the atmosphere and ambiance. It's more elevated and chic and you are paying for the vibes mostly. Service - 5/5 - The service here was amazing, every server, host and bartender where super friendly. I felt welcomed and they made our experience here very sweet. Ambiance - 5/5 - The view from this rooftop is so cute and I love the decor. I think the vibes here are made by this chic ambiance. The space is gorgeous and intimate. Great for date night or girls night! Omg I had such a wonderful experience here. I had Osa Rooftop bookmarked after seeing a Yelp event here and thanks to Nikki B for the reminder! I was in the area with my hubby and fur baby and wanted a place to have dinner. We came around 5pm on Friday and they still had open seating without needed reservations. I started with the Vesper Cucumber, which was their twist on a martini of Mulholland gin and vodka, California and French vermouths with fresh cucumber for a bright, soothing finish. He sipped on the Skylark Italian Pilsner. They paired really well with the food we got. We started with the marinated olives stuffed with ricotta and Calabrian chile. Wished the olives had a little more kick from the Calabrian chile. However, the other two items we had sent us: The Burrata Salad ($21) usually with peach, but persimmons for the season, burrata cheese, green garlic chimichurri, thyme breadcrumb and charred broccolini. It was bigger than expected and was plenty for 2+! Zesty with lemon juices, crispy with herbed bread crumbs and so flavorful! This was a surprising dish, along with the next. Grilled Swordfish ($36) Creamy yellow corn, salsa criolla, ajo verde - okay, I am not usually a fan of swordfish because it tends to be tough and dry, but this steak was tender, cooked perfectly and the corn cream and ajo verde sauces made this dish absolutely heavenly. The thinly sliced onions and parsley on top served as great garnishes to the fish too. Because this is a rooftop restaurant, they had rolled up blankets and heat lamps to keep people warm. It's also dog friendly and they gave our pup plenty of love while she hung out. I didn't get a chance to enjoy the views but hope to catch them next time before sunset. It did get busy soon after we arrived, so reservations are probably recommended. Street parking available. A read more
