I was really looking forward to celebrating my birthday at Osa Rooftop, but unfortunately the experience started off on a disappointing note. My group arrived after the grace period, which I completely understand is our responsibility. The issue wasn't that our reservation couldn't be honored--it was how the situation was handled. We had difficulty finding parking, which caused the delay, and I tried reaching the restaurant by both phone and message to let them know. Unfortunately, I was only able to reach an AI system, so there was no way to speak with someone directly. When we arrived, I politely explained what had happened to the hostess, but instead of showing any understanding, she was dismissive and hostile. She repeatedly said she was busy and told us our only options were a high-top table or seats at the bar. One of the people in our party was pregnant, yet no effort was made to accommodate her or consider that a bar seat or high chair wasn't appropriate. Thankfully, our server was incredibly kind and immediately found my pregnant friend a more comfortable chair, which we truly appreciated. However, what made the situation even more frustrating was that an empty standard table sat directly in front of us for over an hour. It remained available the entire time, yet no one ever offered to move us or even checked whether we would like to switch. The service from our server was excellent and the food was great, but the lack of empathy and hospitality from the hostess really overshadowed what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. I understand restaurants have policies, but kindness, communication, and basic customer service go a long way. We came here for our anniversary and were honestly disappointed by the overall experience. when we walked in the views were beautiful as we knew they would be and we were sat right at the time of our reservation, but when we sat down, the host told us we could only be there for an hour and a half , which is fine but something we didn't know ahead of time. When making the reservation open table asked if we were celebrating anything and we had decided to come here to celebrate our three year anniversary and we mentioned our anniversary on the reservation, but no one said anything to us which was a little disappointing. Usually if someone is asking if you're celebrating something it is so they can bring you out a card, champagne, dessert, or at least acknowledge it and no one said anything to us or gave us anything :( The food was absolutely delicious. We got the hamburger and the Seabass and both tasted 10/10 but we ordered truffle fries with the hamburger and it came with regular fries which they did bring out a replacement of truffle fries for after, but that was a little disappointing, and my Sea-bass was sooo small- it looked half the size of the two plates next to me because the women on either side of me ordered Seabass as well. I ordered the Rosedale cocktail and it tasted great but another weird instance of everyone getting a different serving size because my cocktail glass was twice as large as the woman to my right who ordered the same thing in what looked like a mini glass, but was the same order. We were both so confused hers looked like they were 4oz of liquid in a mini glass. We also ordered our drinks right when we got there especially since there was that time crunch and we wanted to enjoy our time, but the drinks did not arrive for 35 minutes and they said that there was only one bartender working so it would be a little bit, backed up, but sitting there with no drink for 35 minutes and they weren't even filling up our water was very disappointing. Then when they finally did bring our drinks 35 minutes after we got there, they arrived with the food so we didn't get to enjoy our drinks before beforehand like we were hoping to. The table next to us also got their food and the person that dropped it off left right away while they were calling to him because there were no forks so they had to wait like three minutes to eat their food because they had no forks in their rolled silverware on the table. The 2 parties on either side of us and my boyfriend and I felt so dumbfounded by all of this. It was clear everyone was disappointed and frustrated. I feel like this place has so much potential because the views and ambience are beautiful and the food was truly delicious in terms of taste, but they need to work on Service, acknowledging celebrations if they're inviting people to celebrate with them, and working on portion size, because it was disappointing to have the smallest piece of Seabass that we paid a lot of money for and see Seabass servings on my left and right that were literally twice the size Don't think we would come back here but 3 stars for delicious food and pretty setting read more

The highlight of our meal was a quick menu swap: we ordered the $28 Wagyu burger and replaced the standard fries with their crispy Brussels sprouts tossed in Aleppo chili and almonds. Incredible move. But the unexpected star of the night? The Wagyu and pork meatballs in vodka sauce. I was really excited for this one went for my husband's birthday, and the rooftop views/sunset are gorgeous, no complaints there. But the service just wasn't it. We had a 7:45 reservation and got there around 7:20 to walk around first, but didn't actually get seated until almost 8. While we were still standing there waiting for a table, a waitress came up and took our drink orders, then brought the drinks over to where we were just sitting on the lounge chair waiting with a bunch of other waiting parties. Kind of a weird start. Once we finally sat down, it didn't really get better. There wasn't one waitress checking on us I had to flag down whoever walked by just to get water, place our order, anything. It took a while just to get someone to take our order, and she had to come back later because she forgot a pen. Our sodas came out at 7:40, but we didn't get our food until 8:40 -- a full hour later -- so by the time we could actually sit down and eat, the sodas were completely watered down from sitting there melting. No one ever came by to offer new ones. Food also just got dropped off at the table without anyone saying what it was or asking who ordered what, so we were left guessing whose plate was whose. At one point a food runner dropped a drink, and it was not cleaned it up properly. The floor was still slippery afterwards as you'd walk to the bathroom. The bathrooms were also pretty dirty, with paper towels left all over the counters and floor. We got there at 7:20 and didn't leave until 10pm, and a lot of that time was spent waiting or trying to get someone's attention. I get they're still new, and I do wish them the best the food was good and the space itself is beautiful. But for a birthday dinner, I wanted it to feel a little more put together than it did. The food and vibe here are both excellent. Got to join the team here for their first year anniversary, and we got to try a couple delicious and inventive drinks and some bites/dessert. The first drink I tried was the desert sun, which had a lovely kick to it and was super refreshing to boot. I then tried a delish caviar and fish dish they had put together with some crunch, a North Carolina oyster (so good), and a mini tostada. Everything was to die for, particularly the caviar dish - and I'm not normally a caviar guy! The second drink I tried was a triple cali spritz, which was very fruit forward, which I'm a fan of. We also got to try a fantastic wagyu and pork meatball, which was like the best elevated version of a Salisbury steak you could have. We chased all of this with an espresso vodka ice cream. First off, as stated, this is a rooftop restaurant, although there's not much of a "view" aside from some Pasadena buildings but just being outdoors is lovely and we had a great time! Servers were great, very attentive and helpful with any requests we had. We were very indecisive so it was great that they gave us time and suggestions as well. All of the food was great. Our top choices on the food, I would say were the steak n frites and the chilaquiles verdes, although all of the food were ordered was good and presented very nicely. After seeing this place circulate on social media, I decided to give it a try. They're located on the 6th floor of the AC hotel so you have to walk through the hotel lobby to get to the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were quickly seated and our waitress came over to take our order. Thankfully, they have umbrellas and misters on because it was a HOT 89 degrees today. We ordered the Mi Rosa drinks which I recommend for a hot day like this one, followed by the OSA burger, Turkish eggs, and Caesar salad. While everything tasted good (maybe the sesame bread on the burger was a tad stale). There were a few things that took stars of what could have been a great brunch. One, the glass set on our table had some left over food stains which our waitress replaced. Secondly, after receiving our order we were never checked on again. No water, no "is everything good?", nothing! Again, I want to stress how hot it was. So the least the waitress Anna could have done was bring over a pitcher of water. We had planned to order another drink, but since she disappeared and was no where to be located, I ended up asking another waitress for our bill. It was the different waitress that I also had to ask for water because by this time I was quite literally feeling beads of sweat drip down my back. We ordered a couple of mocktails to start with- the Merry Roses and Beetroot. Both drinks were refreshing and uplifting. We shared the peach burrata salad, king salmon crudo, and beef carpaccio. Peaches were not in season, so they were replaced with pear slices for the salad, and it was nice and light. The presentation for the crudo was lovely and really delicious. The beef carpaccio was my least favorite. It needed a bit more flavor. For our entree, we opted for the grilled swordfish. This fish was moist and so flavorful. I wanted to spend my birthday at a rooftop restaurant that was more on the casual side. After attending a Yelp event here when they first opened last summer, I thought this would be the perfect place. WRONG!!!! We sit down next to a couple of women with one saying the "F Bomb" every other word!" I actually started counting her! She was up to 13 F bombs every 5 minutes... We sat for at least 10 minutes, ignored again until I asked Emma as she walked by if we had a server. 5 minutes later our server Alejandro, with NO personality, or as my mother would say, " Dead From The Neck Up," came to our table. We ordered drinks which finally came when our appies came! The menu is limited but we did enjoy the beet salad and the "Hand Pressed Tostones." We also shared a burger for $28! The berry French toast was served with moldy berries, and we were also given strawberry tops instead of properly prepared fruit. When we pointed out the mold, it took quite some time for someone to come and remove the dish, and there wasn't even an apology for serving spoiled fruit. The service was equally frustrating. It took a long time for our server to come to the table, which was especially disappointing on such a hot day. Great views of the mountains and incredibly quick service. We came in at 7 and were out with some time to spare before our show started at the Playhouse at 8. The seasonal cocktails my girlfriend and I had weren't the best -- I had the spritz which was a tad too tart for my liking and my friend got the beet cocktail and then complained that it was too earthy. Not the restaurant's fault because HELLO it is made with beet what did you expect? The steak frites were pretty great, my only note is that it sat in a bit too much olive oil on the plate and made some of the frites taste regrettably oily. Perfectly cooked piece of meat though. The burger looked really good too. This big group of big men had the table behind us and were standing the whole time like Neanderthals! I made my first visit to Osa Rooftop on Valentine's Day, and honestly... I was really impressed. They had a prix fixe menu, and in my experience, that's not always the best way to understand what a restaurant can really do. But this one totally worked. First off: the views are amazing. How have I lived here all these years and never noticed that green lookout on top of the building across the street?! I never would've seen it without this view, and now I can't unsee it. The waitstaff was friendly, kind, and genuinely helpful -- especially appreciated since I have some kind of lifelong curse where I spill things on light-colored shirts at important moments. Thank you for the soda water offer before I could even possibly ask . The curated menu for the night was spot on. Almost everything was excellent and cooked perfectly. The only thing we didn't love was the vinegar-heavy marinade on the oysters -- a little too sour for us. And honestly, when I saw someone at a nearby table make that face after trying one, I knew I wasn't alone. But aside from that? The steak, the fish, the pasta, the tuna tartare, the artichokes -- yum, yum, yum. We were blown away and pleasantly surprised. We skipped the Valentine's Day cocktails and went straight for dirty martinis to really see what they could do. They were great... so great that we ordered seconds. And at $12 each for a rooftop bar? A cute aesthetic rooftop with such a cute private entrance to go up. By private I mean you don't have to go through the actual hotel to get to the rooftop. Drinks were well made and start around $18 for the cocktails; but they don't have many of their own curated cocktails. Cesar salad was also yummy, there cesar here has cappers which I loved. For entrees we had steak frittes. Steak was small for what I was expecting and they charge an upgrade for truffle fries or Brussels sprouts. Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and had a savory citrus sweet glaze with almonds. Overall food was great. Service was decent, although I would have appreciated for our server to check in on how food was tasting after things came out. The food was good. You get what you pay for. The drinks were decent in flavor. But the service needs improvement. The front gals need hospitality training and customer service skills. Our server may have been over extended because we rarely saw her and our waters weren't being filled in a timely manner. Through this summer, an outdoor restaurant should consider their customer's hydration. Additionally, it wasn't until the end where a gentleman noticed the umbrella wasn't properly placed and it was moved to cover us from the sun. My first time at OSA Rooftop and I had. Really good experience. I'm so happy my hometown Pasadena has such a great restaurant/bar to go to. I came here for a nightcap and it was very beautiful!! I heard the food was good as well but I will come back to try that very soon! The service was amazing and the bartender was right on and made my drink just right!! I tried the Ol' California which is similar to an old fashioned. I rate it 10/10 for me!! This drink I recommend especially if you love bourbon. The ambiance was the best!! They had old movies projected on the wall that's so epic!! It's very cute and modern with live band and perfect bar with tvs also to watch games. It's located at the AC Hotel and its street parking and valet. I did street because it was convenient and cheaper. The manager Vince is really nice.
