I have been to the Grasshopper in Morristown so when a friend and I were driving aimlessly around Wayne, I was quite happen to stumble upon their sister restaurant. This is your average classic American pub, we both got burgers and were satisfied. The service here was a little slow for my liking and especially on a non-busy quiet Thursday night; I expected better. Was here the other day and was underwhelmed. The Bangers and Mash I ordered...well the bangers were okay but the mash potatoes felt like they came from instant mix rather than from freshly mashed potatoes. Beer menu was underwhelming and while the decor was nice and the service was average nothing really stood out to me and made me want to return. read more

I used to live in the apartment buildings about 3/4 mile from this place and I never came here. Since it's become a hangout spot for some acquaintances of mine I had to meet them here. Old world Irish themed with lots of gimmick entertainment. The food is pedestrian, but hits the spot as bar food is supposed to. I'll be back. read more

Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Lots of choices. Tuesdays are trivia night. I left full and my pockets weren't empty either. used to go here back in the day the place really fell off as you can see from the reviews I just went in here at 12 PM and they refused to serve me because one of my friends didn't have a ID even though they just wanted food something about a policy I think it's absolutely absurd that you have to be 21 to eat there past 12pm absolutely insane ! read more

Some of the Grasshopper regulars are very immature. The bands they get are usually good. The food is nothing fancy but still okay. That place could use better lighting. The bartenders and wait staff mess up many orders. Their draft beers taste great but are too expensive. The bouncers are really nice. Stopped in with as a party of 20 unannounced early on a Sunday evening. Were able to seat us right away and service was outstanding. One server took care of the whole party and he had only been there a few days. Food was great, definitely recommend the burger and sweet potato fries. I have frequented this restaurant for years and never had a problem. Was there a couple of months ago on a Sunday afternoon with two friends. We are generally very friendly and easy to please. It was about 2:00 pm. The waitress looked visibly annoyed when I sat down before my friends got there. After they came about 20 minutes later, she was not very hospitable and not too talkative. She certainly wasn't very welcoming. We ordered our food. The place was nearly empty and the waitress spent a lot of time talking in the bar and sucking down a soda. I ordered an a French onion soup for starters and then meatloaf with french fries. My friends ordered a sandwich and another meatloaf dish. The onion soup came out about 15 minutes after I ordered it. When I tasted it, the cheese was fine, a little cold, but the soup itself was mushy. There were hardly any onions in it, it was on the cold side and loaded with salt; very salty. To make matters worse, it was full of salad croutons, the small kind, where a piece of toasted Italian or French bread should have been.. That is what I suspect made the soup mushy, salty and odd tasting. I pushed the soup aside so the waitress would notice. She passed at least 5 times, saw the soup hardly eaten, and said nothing. The food came out about 40 minutes after I ordered it. I told the waitress about the soup and asked her if I could have salad instead. Then the manager, an older woman, came over and told me there was nothing wrong with the soup. She was wrong, the waitress looked more annoyed, and no one offered an apology. I knew they were wrong.I had ordered the French onion soup many times there before and it was always very good; but not this time. The meatloaf tasted fine but all our food was on the cold side and the french fries were very cold and greasy. They brought out the side salad I asked for and it was very good. When the bill came, they left the soup on the bill and also charged me for the salad. I expected them to substitute the salad for the soup, it came with a choice of either, with an upcharge for the onion, which I understood. I asked the manager why this had happened, and she said they had been busy earlier. That is no excuse and not my problem. They were practically empty when we were there. I won't be back and will tell my friends. I expressed my gratitude in the 8% tip. read more

In all my time living in this area I must have passed this place thousands of times thinking it was just a bar. While I was at work one of my co-workers was telling me about the food and I told him I had not idea they even served food...Yeah Yeah I know the sign outside say Pub & Restaurant ,but it looks more like a pub than a Restaurant. When we went inside I surprised by the atmosphere. It was very nicely done and it was cozy. You do have to be careful which door you go into since one goes to directly into the bar. It was a Monday evening and usually restaurants are not to busy, but this place had a steady flow coming in and out. As we went over the menu it seemed typical for a Irish themed place.Shepards pie,Fish & chips ,Bangers & mash. With the menu we also received a Specials menu .One of the specials was right up my alley. It was a 12 oz Shell steak w/ Potato & Veggies , Soup or Salad for $13.95..Never wanting to pass up on a good steak I figured it was worth a try. Well I can tell you that the Steak was at least 12 ozs and it was cooked just the way I ordered it. It was very simple and delicious & tender .It looked as if it was trimmed prior to cooking. The Mashed potatoes & mixed vegetables were fresh made, no can or frozen veggies here. The soup that night was Slit pea Yes I know most of us call it split pea ,but here it is called Slit pea and it was awesome .I topped off my meal with a nice Guinness ( what else would you drink at a place like this). This place was a pleasant surprise that I know I will visit again. It was a very simple meal ,but it was well worth the price. read more

I became so sick! I ordered a lunch special, a salad with "grilled shrimp". Turns out the shrimp was just the tiny ones that come frozen in a bag, I'm sure, and were slightly grilled. I was disappointed just at that but I ate the salad anyway. I had not even left the restaurant yet when I knew something wasn't right. I'll spare you the details but trust me, I had food poisoning. Great place to hanging out with friends somewhat quite place but it gets busy on the weekends. Food is great, specially the appetizers excellent menu. I always get their Buffalo fingers and Chicken Quesadillas for the appetizers. People who run the place are really friendly always keeping you laughing. read more

This was "my bar" for a long time. Even when my friends complained that its dark and the crowd is on the whiskey-tango side I stood strong and insisted we go there. Looking back...yeah, it definitely isn't a classy joint and maybe the majority of the clientele aren't fancy suit wearin' folks, but it is a solid neighborhood Irish bar with stiff drinks and not-horrible pub grub. Just leaving. Never had the food here, but I know that Taffer was here w/his Bar Rescue show sometime ago. I ordered the bar pizza with sausage. All I can say is WOW!!!! This was absolutely the best pizza I've had in a bar. Thick, soft crust with big pieces of half moon sausages. I couldnt place what seasoning was in the sauce, but it worked. I was worried if it was going to be too big, but it was a perfect size. Little smaller than an Entemanns Apple pie. Really really good. The bartenders could have been a little more enthusiastic, but I'll definitely be back for more pizza. read more

The Grasshopper is great. Their signature Grasshopper Ale is crisp refreshing brew that will cater to the masses as well as the more refined tongue of the craft brew drinker. The chicken marsala is absolutely amazing, I have to stop myself from getting it every single time I'm there. They do a great job on their stakes as well. I recently had a filet mignon cooked perfectly rare that was wonderful. The crowd is very diverse and generally relaxed. They have good entertainment all week, including karaoke, trivia, live music etc. read more

Food is good; a destination on St. Patrick's Day -- but the service leaves MUCH to be desired.

The bar is closed until late October as the floods destroyed the inside but they are doing a major renovation and it's going to be great. There were 15 of us going here for a Christmas lunch. It was excellent. The waitress was spot on, the food was delicious, and the place was clean and welcoming. It was great to be able to make a reservation and have real pub food instead of the microwaved dreck at the Chili's type places. We will see you again Grasshopper Too! read more

Went there last nite and we got a table right away. However we sat there for over 15 minutes after at least 7 staff members walked by our table. No one asked us if we wanted to order a drink. We got up and left. Will never go back and we used to go there every month. read more

We went here last week on Wednesday evening. There were not too many customers in the place. We have been to this grasshopper location many times in the past and the food was solid Irish fare. But, we noticed a real change in the food. Everything was overcooked with way too much salt. The soups, the bangers and mash, the cod fish dish, even the mashed potatoes. The beef stew was just awful. It was like eating a big bowl of salt. Everything had too much salt. We started talking with some of the other local customers and they shared a similar sentiment. Apparently there has been a lot of staff turnover in the kitchen. We sent back our pints of Guinness twice. The bartender just slopped them out and they did not settle. The bartender was visibly angry at the waitress who brought our pints back twice. But, they need to remember, if you are an Irish bar that cannot provide customers with a top notch pint of Guinness that is poured correctly, then maybe you should promote yourselves as an Irish bar. Our waitress was pleasant and professional but the kitchen and bartender needs some remedial training in their respective crafts. We did not hear from a manager nor was there any offer fix anything or take any item off the check. Not that we were looking for that. We just wanted a quality and satisfying couple of pints of Guinness and solid, hearty Irish food. We would have one starred them except the waitress was great. read more

Ok Irish bar, go here for lunch sometimes with coworkers. Wait staff is friendly, and the specials are usually pretty cheap( domestic draft for $2 ). Food selection is bit more varied than you think you'd find, which is a plus. Looks much classier after they renovated, but the dark interior still hurts your eyes when leaving lol. read more
