Really loved this place. Grateful Bites serves Neopolitan-style pizza (look elsewhere for deep dish). I was also pleased to see they have gluten-free and dairy-free options along with salads. We had the white pizza with mushrooms and garlic and the pepperoni, hot honey pizza. These were so tasty - I couldn't believe it - great flavor and cooked to perfection. Dining in was also a treat with the cool guitar and graffiti artwork, and the Motown and classic 70s playlist - this pizza place definitely knows who it is and chatting with the owner, Matt, was genuinely pleasant. I would highly recommend Grateful Bites. Not sure what ordering pickup on a Friday or Saturday night is like, but If you want fast pizza, understand that the brick oven can only hold so much pizza at a time - so if you have to wait, it is definitely worth the wait and definitely worth the price. Went with my girlfriend the other night around 8pm or so. They were getting ready to close, and we were starving! We shared the Caesar salad and a gluten free margherita pizza (I took one for the team to save money since I am a full on gluten eater). Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised by the GF pizza - very flavorful and the crust was similar to a normal crust although didn't have as much rise. The star of the show was really the salad...hot doggies was that a tasty salad! The dressing had just the right balance of creaminess and acidity. I would totally go there again just for the salad. Great ambiance, friendly staff. We've ordered pickup twice now since moving to the North Shore from downtown. Ate here recently and really enjoyed. Pizzas we ordered were excellent as were the salads. Slight expensive for what it is but, hey, it's Winnetka!! Every time we go kayak at Skokie lagoon, we have a lunch here. It's really authentic Italian pizza( we come from Europe) not greasy. Salade and soup also delicious ! The only thing maybe need to change is the cashier system, I can not leave tips with it. Ok, so let me start with a clear statement - this is the best pizza I've had on the Northshore. In particular their sauce is exemplary. On that basis alone they get 4 stars since I am rejoicing that a quality pizza option is now available nearby. That being said, the Northshore bar is low. The beauty of the woodfired oven is suboptimized by the crust which is overly doughy and chewy. I am clearly not a fan of the bready, chewy crust approach (which, to be fair, is what Grateful Bites is going for). I prefer something with a bit more char and a bit more crunch. So I am torn, do I give it the rating it objectively achieves, which is 3 - it's a fine pizza? Or, do I reward someone willing to put forth the effort to give the Northshore a quality product and give them a 4? The spoils go the bold - 4 stars. We need more folks like the Grateful Bites proprietors. read more

Blown away good. An authentic, simple Neapolitan pizza place. The ingredients are absolutely first rate. But the dough is the star. The crust was delicious, crisp thin but not cracker like. Just want to let all my local friends who love pizza know about a new place I found Friday night. It's called Grateful Bites and it's in Winnetka and it's so very well worth a drive up just for their pizza. They use a sourdough thin crust that is literally to die for, but what surprised me most was their white pizzas. We had the elote and a bechamel along with a sausage and a cheese. And the name is not spelled wrong, lol, the owner is a deadhead and there's lyrics from Dead songs in the walls... but the pizza is to freaking die for! The elote was so good one of my friends bought a 2nd to take home! And the locals love it too, I saw stacks and stacks of pizzas going out the doors, 5 or 8 at a time. Y'all can argue over stuffed vs thin, Giordano's over Pequad's, Lou's vs whoever, but this place renders your argument moot unless you've eaten here. read more

My daughter and I enjoyed the pizza and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Especially, I really liked their dough. However, considering the prices on their pizzas, they lack in the amount of ingredients that they use - my margherita pizza barely had any mozzarella nor basil. We had an great experience here ~ The owner and staff were friendly and attentive. The pizzas (arugila and margharita) were exactly what we wanted - thin soft crust with sauce and toppings that were full of flavor. The beverage choices were plentiful (see pic). I almost opted for what was sure to be a refreshing snub-nosed Coors "Banquet" bottle (which was great to see as an option) but selected a craft beer instead. The Caesar was crisp with plenty of shaved parm & homemade croutons. It was too hot out to sit out on the back-patio and so we ate at the high-top. The interior design is lux, but the vibe is relaxing and in looking around, it wasn't hard to see that general cleanliness is a priority. We'll be back! read more

Even by my husband's NY standards, the pizza is excellent. This is our go-to pizza place on the north shore. But it takes a long time to get food. The place is tiny and the food is made super fresh, so when it's busy, expect a long wait. Last night I ordered take out- 3 pizzas and a salad. They told me 45 minutes. I gave them 1 hour, knowing it always takes longer than they say. 1 hour and 25 minutes later, I finally had our order. We were all HANGRY!! I wish they would just tell you how long it's really going to take! I think they're TOO busy, if that's such a thing, and will need to expand soon. Hoping that will help their flow. read more

We just did curbside pickup. I apploud the effort. I am giving them 2 stars. It would have been 4 if the food was actually hot and not a little screwed up. We live 10 min away. We ordered 4 pizzas. 2 were ice cold and had to be place in the oven to make them edible. 2 were luke warm, but my kids were too hungry to wait while I put them in the oven. I would eat in when things get better, but I will not take out. We had the Marinara garlic pizza. Skimpy on the Garlic Very skimpy on the Garlic We had 2 elote Pizzas, one was gluten free. Both was supposed to have no cilantro. They both had cilantro. The gluten free was missing the elote drizzle. So I guess it was a corn pizza. The one that was 95% percent right was taste. Cold, but taste. Lastly we had a pepperoni and honey pizza. The kids liked it and decided to eat it cold, because they were hungry. They thought it was very good. Instead of giving me my drinks which they feel the need to charge 3.50 for (bought 14 dollars worth), they gave my a leaking plastic jar of pretty subpar lemonade that soaked my bike bags. They also burn your pizza and try to pass it off as something fancy and charge extra for it. This time however, only the top of my pizza was burned. The other half was uncooked and slid out from the cheese, leaving a weird flab of pizza. I've tried liking this place ever since it was set up but it's honestly just $20 for bad pizza. read more

Cute little pizza shop in the North Shore. Very bright and modern decor and they have a nice patio. It's the kind of place where you order at the clingy and they bring the food to you. My son and I were starving after his pediatrician appointment in Wilmette so we drove over and together a vegan pizza (we got the mushroom pizza and just added vegan cheese for an upcharge). The wait was long. They quoted us 15 minutes but it took more like 30-45. The owner was really nice and gave me a free glass or rosé to compensate for the wait. The pizza itself was just okay, but vegan pizza is a hard one to nail. It didn't have much flavor, the ingredients were kind of bleh (we did add hot honey and giardiniera so I was expecting it to be much more flavorful) but the crust was really delicious. I'm giving it 5/5 for service, ambiance and experience and a 3/5 for the actual pizza, only because I've had fantastic vegan pizzas before and this wasn't that. But, from what I saw in the restaurant it did seem like the non vegan pizza was really amazing and the customers were really enjoying it! read more

We loved this place ! Came after finding my wedding dress across the street at Bella Bleu (woo!) and what better than to celebrate with pizza and champagne ? We got the pepperoni and honey pizza and it was amazing. We also split an arugula salad (small size was more than enough for two people to share with a pizza). Not sure why a pizza place would stop taking orders at 7pm. I know that this is the suburbs, but that is pretty ridiculous. Many kids aren't even home from after school or weekend sports or other activities yet which is when people are most likely to pick up a pizza to make dinner easy. I don't think I ever have a shot of getting pizza from here which those hours. They must be really busy. read more
