It's been a while since we have ordered pizza from Judy's. We used to love their pizza, something has changed, the ingredients are not the same. The crust was totally different from the past. It used to be thin and crispy and the flour was noticeably high quality. The crust on the recent pie was thicker, pre fabricated and had a totally different texture. The sauce was different and the cheese not the same quality. It was just an average pizza. Absolutely nothing was the same. Carry out pizza is now expensive and for $30 for a large I'm going to be more selective. read more

Pizza is a Sunday staple in our household and we are on the hunt for some solid pizza places in the area. I called in to get some recommendations and was told the double decker is a thinner version of a deep dish- so we skipped that. We ordered waffle fries, breaded zucchini stickers, thin mushroom and spinach pizza and a thin sausage pizza. The fries and zucchini was yummy. The pizza was too doughy for our liking. Ordered carry-out from Judy's for the first time. Was quick to order/pick up and the team was nice. Pizza was solid overall. Similar style to Rosati's pizza with the cracker style crust. They spread the sauce all the way to the edge, but don't with the cheese. It tasted pretty good, but felt a little messy when I was eating the pieces with crust. I had Judy's for the first time at the Taste of Highland Park event over the weekend. I did not have a good experience. It is understandable that food will be overpriced at the event, but the purpose is for restaurants to gain customers by putting their best foot forward. If this is Judy's best foot, I don't want to try their regular foot. A $5 slice of pizza was extremely thin and small, and was served cold. I watched as they brought pizza packed in thermal delivery bags to the booth, then loaded them in a display warmer that appeared to be turned off. I have no idea why they would do this, when electricity was provided. They also had the booth manned by a kid who didn't seem old enough to be working. Of all the food I purchased from the different resturants, this was my least enjoyable experience. The only redeeming thing was the taste of the pizza was good for cold pizza. read more

I know Judy's has been around for a while and popular with many but never tried their pizza until somewhat recently. I called for delivery and the process went very smoothly. Nice to deal with and efficient. I had read what fellow yelpers had said that the double decker was the way to go. I'm a fan of deep dish pizza and was under the impression that's what I was ordering although as the name would describe they actually stack two thin single crusts on top of each other. In my opinion all it did was add too much sauce making it soggy and an over sauced pie isn't my thing. Overall the pizza was ok but certainly not on my list of great Chicago pizza. But if your looking to support your local restaurants it's defiantly worth a try. If I went back I think I'd skip the double decker and go thin. read more

Judy's has an interesting pizza that I've never had anywhere else. Their double decker pizza is pretty cool and their dough is not the usual pizza crust you get anywhere else, it's braided I guess and is almost pita-like in texture. But the sauce is really really mild and is not my thing at all. It just doesn't have any zest or tang to it, almost like it doesn't have seasoning in it. Living in HP for 30 years, this is the first time ordering from Judy's in 15 years. I got their Family Meal Deal for delivery; Thin crust 3 toppings, Greek salad, and onion rings. I was pleasantly surprised at their thin crust 'Za - good tavern style pizza with delicious Italian sausage and a tangy sauce. The salad was surprisingly plentiful - it was huge. I'll be ordering again. That said, there were some ordering snafu's and a delivery snafu that should be way smoother than it was considering today's environment during the pandemic - I had to call twice to remedy the issues. Got my food delivered from this place via DoorDash. I ordered the fried zucchini, chicken tenders and spaghetti. The food was cheap, it came prompt and was still hot. When it arrived I was happy to see three big containers of food because, around here, that isn't usually the case. The zucchini sticks weren't bad, but could have been better complimented especially with a creamy dipping sauce opposed to marinara. The chicken tenders were pretty good but, again, needed something more than marinara as the sauce. [Honey mustard would've been great!] The spaghetti was bland and lackluster. All and all, the food was just alright and reminded me of the type of food you'd have to go home and "spruce up" to make the leftovers worth the effort of re-heating. read more

Any event we've had, small or large, has been handled efficiently. The pizza is amazing! We get so many compliments from our party families about it. The owner, Will, is so amazing to work with! He's helpful, reliable, easy to communicate with and overall one of the kindest human beings we've worked with. He's also helped us coordinate several community based food donations from our shirt sales to our local heroes after the July 4th shooting. Judy's was always a staple growing up in Deerfield. Living nearby we have re-found this epic pizza place. While the strip mall ambience has much to be desired, it's pizza dammit. That means delivery and carry out and taste. When it comes to taste Judy's is hard to beat. Tangy sauce. Crispy crust if ordered well done. There is no better. In the past - going back to when I used to go to their Deerfield location - I thought Judy's pizzas were okay. Their double-decker wasn't my jam (though I think many other people will love 'em), but their thin crust was always A-OK. However, around the northern burbs, there's a LOT of excellent competition. Conflicted, I had to gave them 3 stars. In many other cities, they might have been 4 stars, but I had to grade on a curve. However; I kept getting the occasional pizza or slice from Judy's, and I'm glad I got to witness them stepping up their game. Their cheese and pizza toppings were always really good, but I wasn't as fond of the crust and sauce. The last few pizzas were much better, with a much crispier thin crust and a more robust and herbaceous tomato sauce. In addition, their sandwiches have turned out to be solid - they make a quality burger, their meatball sub is tasty (thanks to their excellent sauce), and their Italian beef is above average (hard to stack up when there's a Portillo's a few miles away, but still quite good). Their appetizers, sides, and salads were also well-made and delicious. The staff are always very friendly, and their prices are generally pretty good when compared to other similar restaurants in the neighborhood. Given everything; I feel Judy's really earned that 4th star in the last few months. Since their sauce-game has improved, I'm inclined to try out one of their pastas now. Judy's Pizzeria is very conveniently located in the Garrity Square shopping plaza, so - for sure - I'll be getting a lot more food from them in the future. read more

Judy's bacon is crispy, smoky, thick cut, and fresh. Seriously, places should stop using that old stuff from a fridge pre-made shifts before. Or worse, sht from a BAG, all bland and full of preservatives and no texture! But it gets better since it comes with pizza. I chose a thin crust and wasn't disappointed; airy, fluffy, chewy, lightly cornmeal and flour dusted crust. Thin enough to fold but could hold the heavy toppings. And cut into PARTY squares. On 1 thin pie we got light cheese, sausage & extra mushrooms, extra green peppers, and extra onions. The other was cheese, bacon and light chopped pepperoni. Everything was cooked exactly as requested. The sauce was savory and sweet. The sausage was a bit plain. I couldn't taste any fennel. I am interested to find out exactly what is their double decker pizza. Is that basically a large flat round calzone? Or a pizza with another one build and baked on top? If I had my choice I would have ordered something with meat on it, but I opted for a double-decker cheese pizza with olives and spinach on half. First of all, I placed my order when I was starving and decided the family should go for more than a thin crust... even though I REALLY wanted to follow the reviews and get the thin. Here's the deal. It was super messy because it wasn't cooked quite enough. I would have liked it so much more if it had been even the slightest bit crispy. - Loaded with cheese and plenty of olives (a little light on the spinach). - The sauce was a nice tangy sweet. - The crust was a pretty looking rope twist crust with just the right amount of flake. - The crust didn't have much flavor - I like a more seasoned crust. Even though I got a coupon for a free double-decker pizza, next time I really want to try the thin crust. I truly want to support this business because it's right in my neighborhood. I helped organize a preschool fundraiser with Judy's pizzeria and they gave us an additional donation, how nice is that!? I ordered the Hawaiian pizza and it was delicious. Between 2 people we crushed a large pizza, it was so fresh. We were stuffed. I love fresh made outta the oven homemade pizza, and that's what you get here. We ate inside and loved that the staff refilled our drinks and was very attentive. I recommend this place for authentic homemade pizza! I love a good thin pizza and this is one of the best. My pizza was a little cool around the edges. I wish they would have kept in on top of the oven instead of out on a cold counter top which is where it was when I picked it up. Not sure how long it was sitting there. But it was very good and flavorful. I will go back. They also have a double decker pizza that I'll have to try too. Inside there are a few tables and one crummy TV.
