Since we found Marisa's Pizza on Yelp about a year ago, it has become our go-to place for pizzas!  It is located in a strip mall with abundant parking spaces, and the location is very convenient for us.   Our favorite is their New York Style Thin Crust Cheese Pizza that you can create your own by adding different toppings at extra costs.  We have been picking mushroom and sausage lately, which are so tasty without being too salty.  I especially like the crunchy crust!  There are 21 ingredients to choose from, that you can easily make so many different combinations.  Ordering online is so easy and you get 5% off!  For each ingredient you can specify left half, right half, or whole just by clicking on the diagrams, it cannot be easier or clearer than that!  They come in 12", 14", 16", and 18" sizes.  We usually ordered the 14" which is a medium, and enough for 2 to 3 people.     Marisa's has a wide variety of foods on their menu.  Other than pizzas, they also offer soups and salads, pastas and sandwiches, and more.  I had enjoyed their tiramisu, which was creamy and delicious!   They are usually very accurate with their estimated time for pickup.  The normal wait time is 15-30 minutes from ordering to pick up. Yesterday I volunteered to go to pick up our pizza on my way home from somewhere.  They sent me a text for the estimated time.  When I arrived at their parking lot, I noticed that they had sent a second text with a re-estimated later time, pushing back by 20 minutes.  I went in anyway.  The man politely told me that it would be another 15 minutes.  I decided to just wait.    The place was big, bright, nice and clean, very toasty though.  There were decorations with sports theme.  Although I am not a football fan, a wall TV with the Super Bowl on was a nice touch.  When I was waiting, the same staff kindly offered me something to drink, and then he offered me condiments such as red peppers or extra cheese to take home, and I politely thanked him for his thoughtfulness but declined the offers.  I appreciated his hospitality.  It was Super Bowl night and they were so busy, I can fully understand.  Our pizza was ready in 15 minutes, the wait was pleasant.   We enjoyed the tasty piping hot pizza while watching the halftime show that I wanted to watch, I was very content and happy!  We will continue going to Marisa's Pizza for sure! read more

We had the Sicilian style pizza half spinach / mushroom the restaurant was big enough for large parties and it was very clean inside , the area that the establishment is in was nice close to other other food options and stores to shop at It took about 25 min for this pizza to be done and it was fresh I like all that they have the packets for oregano, pepper seasoning , salt , Parmesan, and red chilli peppers as an option the pizza was a decent price and we enjoyed it Pro tip next time I would ask them to cut the pieces in smaller slices read more

I ordered an 18 inch mushroom pizza for pickup through the slice app. It was prepared exactly as ordered, warm on my arrival, and the staff were courteous. The very best thing about the pizza was that it was perfectly round and covered well with accouterments. Not much to celebrate! The crust was average, not quite New York style (a little bit bready) and not quite Neopolitan style (mediocre flour and not crispy). Given the perfect symmetry I don't believe it was hand tossed. And the tomato sauce and cheese were unremarkable as were the mushrooms. In the end, I would rate this pizza as two steps above Domino's, one step above Costco, a half step below Rosati's and a significant step below Vicccino's. I'm still looking in the area for a reasonably priced pie that tastes great. Help me! read more

Ordered the New York Style pie and it's far from a New York style pie imo. This is more like Tavern style with a pie cut. Pizza didn't taste bad, decent sauce and sausage. My favorite spot. Such good pizza. Cheese sticks are great. I don't like pasta but I will eat their pasta, it is that good. Owner is so nice and employees are great. Have been a long time customer for many years and I am severely disappointed in the way this place had gone down hill. Used to be one of my favorite places to get a slice of pizza, but now they very rarely will have any of their other options available for slices besides cheese, sausage, and pepperoni. 5 times in a row of going during lunch time on random days. Will be boycotting until hopefully realize having all of the extra options for slices is what makes this place unique and stands out from generic slice spots, but this has sadly just become another average slice spot. Been going here for 4 years every Monday. I always get a slice or two of pizza, which is pretty good. My only complaint is a small drink cup is abnormally small, but they do allow refills for 25 cents. They also have a punch card for free pizza, which I use. read more

I work in Northbrook and this is one of my favorite places to stop if I forgot to pack a lunch and want something quick, affordable and delicious. You know Marisa's is good when you stop in around noon on a weekday and the line is super long to grab a slice of pizza! My favorite is the veggie! They pull your slice and put it back in the oven for a few min before wrapping it up so it's hot. Raul is the owner and he takes much pride in this restaurant. First off, I've been going here for the last 10 years, but NEVER again. I go occasionally more out of convenience than because the food is any good. Here it went down. I called and asked if there were any specials, the guy said 2 large pizzas and a 2 liter for $24. I said ok, i'll take two of those. He said it was only one per order, and then I told him that I'll just have a friend make a separate order then, and we will both pick it up. He said fine. I get there, and as I am being rung up, this is what the older gentleman says to me- "Do you own a business? You can't do that, and be so cheap". So I waited until I got my pizzas and paid for everything before I spoke up. I said, "Listen, I am a business owner, and that is now how you treat customers. if you don't want my business that is fine, but I am the only customer in the entire restaurant, and that is how you treat people?" He replies. "I hope you die hungry. then made a 'zipper' motion with his fingers across his lips. then he says "you are so cheap" repeatedly. I replied "then just say no, when I ask for the order. don't take my money and then gripe about." He replies "get out of my store, i'm going to call the cops, you chink" I almost slapped myself, I couldn't believe the racial slurs, and threats of calling the police. I thought he was actually going to hit me. Unbelievable. this in Northbrook of all places. No wonder why this place does no business. I will make sure that they never get any business from anyone I know. That said, the food sucks. The dough is too thick for NY style pizza. I would rather go to jakes, or pizanos, or lou malnatis, or literally any other pizza frozen or otherwise. Please do not visit this establishment, if you do, stay out of harms way. Let me begin by saying if I could leave zero or negative stars, I would. I just got back from getting a slice of pizza and experienced the absolute worst service and was treated so poorly. I went to Marisa's because I had a coupon (from one of those fundraising booklets GBN students sell) and wanted some pizza. The man at the counter was fairly friendly until I handed over my coupon and immediately he became rude and short with me. As soon as he turned his back he began speaking in Spanish with another man working there and was SO incredibly rude. Um excuse me, maybe if you're going to talk about me in another language make sure I can't understand what you're saying first? On top of that, as soon as my pizza was ready he tossed it towards me without putting it in a bag (seriously, you want me to take my pizza and drive home with it between two flimsy paper plates?!) . When I asked for a bag he acted as if it was an incredible inconvenience. Seriously, their pizza is not even that good, I've had frozen pizza that was tastier than Marisa's. Don't waste your time here, there's a Rosati's right down Dundee that has FAR better pizza and there are plenty of other pizza places nearby. With such horrible service there is no way I will ever waste my money here again. read more

My boss turned me on to Marisa's by telling me that it was the closest thing in the 'burbs he has found to NY style pizza (he's a native New Yorker.) I occasionally get cravings for NY style 'za after having visited for the first time late in 2015. I've ordered delivery twice now, and pick-up once (most recently - carry-out last night.) The entire process from start to finish has always been efficient and friendly, from the person on the phone taking the order to the delivery driver or cashier when I stop inside to pick up. I love that they automatically pie-cut pizzas, as I often forget to ask and I don't really dig on squares (I know, so un-Chicagoan of me.) I love the crust, sauce, cheese. I will say that I do order pizza from Marisa's "well done," but forgot last night, and it was still good - but i prefer it with a few extra minutes in the oven. They are competitively priced - a large thin crust with 2.5 toppings came to $21 and change. Thank you, Marisa's... I'll be back! read more

My 4-Star review is for the thin-crust pizza!!!! YUM!!! They make a VERY nice NY style thin crust pie at Marisa's. Halfway in btw a cracker thin and a hand tossed, and I LOVE the flour on the crust. With a lot of pizzas, the crust is sometimes an afterthought, but NOT Marisa's. I enjoy getting to the crust on this za. I also like that they throw your slices back into the oven to get the crust nice and crispy again....this makes a BIG difference when you order slices anywhere you go. Take note!! If your local pizzeria isn't doing this, compare the slice to when you order a full pie and you should notice a HUGE difference in crust texture. They look to have other decent daily specials here for lunch, but I have yet to explore the rest of the menu b/c I can't get past ordering the thin crust za. The good news is that I definitely see other patrons ordering the lunch specials, so the rest of the menu must be pretty decent as well. Update to come later! read more
