    Small Deep Dish

Pizza was ready on time, hot, and perfect flavor. I got the butter crust as an upgrade, and boy is it amazing. Nothing got soggy on the drive, either. The garden salad (small is enough to keep me in rabbit food for days. The young lady asked if on dressing was enough. I should've looked at the salad first before saying yes. It is well-worth the money as you definitely get what you pay for. The location is delivery & carryout only, and even though I caught a line, it was only five minutes (I ordered online). The staff was active, efficient, and very nice.

By far my favorite pizza ever. Their deep dish is out of this world. My favorite is definitely the sausage deep dish with butter-crust. As for thin crust, I like the spinach. They also have great salads and pastas, so there's a little something for everyone. Just to note: This location is takeout and delivery only. The staff is super friendly and they can have your order ready in 30-45 minutes on average.

    A pizza fit for 4 year-olds.

Pizza was... ok. Crust had a weird fried aspect to it that I didn't love, but maybe that's a Chicago thing? Honestly did not love it. Felt insubstantial and yet also somehow a bit greasy at the same time. Cheese, sauce and sausage was fine and nothing to write home about. But what really stood out was this: the pizza came sliced in a completely unhinged criss-cross pattern (!?) So instead of normal slices of pizza, you have to eat these weird little squares. I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was ordering pizza for a toddler's birthday party. Slicing a round pizza is just a solved problem at this point. Four quick cuts across the middle and you get 8 of the standard issue wedge-shaped slices we all know and love. Not so in Lou Malnati's bizarro world. edit: The generic corporate speak cut-and-paste response to my review below this speaks volumes about how this place is apparently run. Gross!

    Deep Dish Malnati Chicago Classic

I got a personal Deep Dish Malnati Chicago Classic. I don't have much to compare it to in terms of "Chicago Pizza" but I enjoyed what I had. If you like sausage you will like this - you get a lot! Holding it back from a 5 star review is that some of the crust could've been cooked more. Could just be part of the Chicago style, but I like a little more crunch.

Lou Malnati's is our all time favorite pizza, both deep dish and thin crust. Quality ingredients on top of a butter crust. Yum! The Malnati Salad is great, too (hold the gorgonzola cheese, please!) We recently tried the Garlic Bread because we had some loyalty points to redeem. It was excellent smothered with the marinara sauce that it came with. I will definitely add that to my future orders! The frozen pizzas are perfect for a less expensive, low fuss but still delicious meal. Lots of selection in the grab and go freezer and refrigerator cases (pizzas, desserts, salads). This location has no dine in, but the cashiers are always friendly and the food is usually ready on time. Standing room only waiting room or wait in your vehicle.

Better service than usual here, we were in and out quickly with our call-in order. Asked for pizza to be well done and they came out perfect. No overcooked, and not soggy. Had been a long time since I had deep dish so this meal was exceptional.

This is another mighty fine Lou Malnati's carryout location. This was my first visit here and it was for several pizzas for a birthday party. They were the usual tip-top delicious and the carryout was available right on time. This shop is situated in the very convenient Westlake Plaza strip mall just a few feet from I-94 Eden's Lake Street exits.

The best deep dish pizza we ever had! We loved the classic pepperoni deep dish the best. Every bite was just divine. We are dreaming of it and hope to try it again someday. We got delivery and it was fast and perfect. Thank you! Highly recommended!

Inconsistent. When this pizza is great, it's really great. That's one in three times. Tonight's pizza was severely undercooked.

I was trying to find a place at least midway between us and discovered Carlos and Carlos on Yelp. Carlos and Carlos is old school from the perspective you actually have to call the restaurant to make a reservation. The space itself is located in what I think is a condo building. The space itself is compact, with tables relatively close together. We ended up sitting at table next to the kitchen door, which for me turned out not to be too bad as we were not sitting on top of other folks. The restaurant and bar were packed as it was a Saturday. Based on the size of the space and number of tables, I would strongly suggest making a reservation if you go there. We started out with fresh bread and one of their specials for the night: flash fried calamari served w/fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, shaved garlic, black olives, capers & garlic butter. This was a first for me as I have never had calamari served this way and it was great. Definitely a dish I would drive back to get. The bread was wonderful and hot. I could see through the kitchen as fresh bread was being pulled out of either a warmer or oven, not sure. It was served with some sort of olive oil and pesto, I think. It made for a lovely spread on the bread. For dinner I ordered a dish called "Meatballs" and it was just that, a whole lotta meatballs with some spaghetti thrown in as a side...HAHAHA! Not complaining, just staying a fact. The meatballs and pasta were good, but I would say there was a fair amount of garlic in the dish. I had my dish as a leftover and as I was warming it up, The Doctor commented that he could smell the garlic. The Doctor had the Pollo Vesuvio, which also came with pasta. I had a small piece and it was pretty nice. Again there was more meat than pasta, but again we were not complaining. The chicken was nice and tender and had a lovely flavor to it. My GF got the Risotto Al Fungi (Arborio served with wild mushrooms & goat cheese). Prior to sampling her dish, I would have absolutely stated that this was a dish I would not order in a restaurant as I wouldn't have any interest in it. I tried a spoonful of my GF's and was amazed at how good it was! The broth that the risotto was cooked in was chicken and I think beef. That with the goat cheese made this a very nice dish and the second reason I would drive here to do a repeat visit for dinner. Portion sizes were nice as The Doctor and I had plenty to eat and enough for light snack the next day. My GF had no leftovers, she became a member of the clean plate club. For dessert we shared a slice of the chocolate mousse cake, which was really nice. It had a lovely dark flavor to it and was creamy in texture. Service was nice and everyone was friendly. There is plenty of street parking within walking distance as well. While this is a bit of a drive for us to get to since it is outside of the city, I could see coming back here. I think I want to try a serving of that risotto on my own instead of a taste.

If I ate this today as a kid, that memory wouldn't be of the food--it would be of a spanking. I used to swear by this place in college. It was the gold standard for a good, affordable meal with real heart. But lately, it's clear that profitability is the new priority. They've swapped high-quality ingredients for "cheap" fillers, leaving the dishes feeling hollow. The Technical Breakdown: * The "Watery" Problem: Does the kitchen not own a colander? The dishes are swimming in excess moisture, which kills the integrity of the meal. * The Sauce: It used to be the soul of the plate; now it feels like a rushed accident. * Not So Pro Tip for the Kitchen: If you want to save the dish, cook the last few minutes of the pasta IN the sauce. It's a basic fundamental that seems to have been lost in the pursuit of the bottom line. It's a bummer because this place used to be so intentional. Now, it's just basic. Unless you're looking for a plate of lackluster pasta and budget-friendly veggies, you're better off looking elsewhere.
