Val is seemingly very caring but there isn't consistency if she's not there and communication with her co-owner. The other owner Joey is a poor groomer, very rude with customers and most importantly abusive in her treatment of the dogs which is totally non acceptable. I would highly recommend avoiding this business if you care about your dogs welfare and service. read more

This was my first time in 8 years having my dogs nails trimmed professionally outside of the vet. It was a great experience! I've been taking my dog (havanese) who grows long hair since I've had him, almost two years and I loved Ellen. Since she left, this place has been getting worse and worse. I took my dog for the last time to this place. They had him come in at 2:30 and I had to call them after 5 pm to see what was going on and when I called the person on the phone did not give me much information. I was nervous as I hadn't heard anything. They still hadn't groomed him and kept saying it would be another 30 mins. I just went and picked him up and when I got there, she blamed everything on Covid which I don't know how that affects dogs. It sounded to me the groomer didn't know what she was doing. I will not return my dog to this place again! read more

Hate leaving bad reviews, but also we came here because the reviews seemed fine and that wasn't our experience. Very bad nail trim, our dog's nails were barely cut and the nails on the front right paw were so jagged that her nails were cutting my skin. I immediately brought her back and asked for it to be fixed. After a little pushback they agreed to try again. Second time wasn't much better, we will need to get them trimmed again in a week when usually we take her once every six weeks. We have been getting her nails drummeled for years and have never had it done this poorly. read more

The first time we went here was pretty solid. The overall price is good but they tend to go short versus brushing out your dog (doodle) so it is a trade off somewhat. Unfortunately the last time we went here they cut my dogs ear pretty good. I understand a small cut can be part of the process but this one was a little more severe than expected and has required a visit to the vet, antibiotics, and a couple weeks later we are still in the healing process and wearing the cone of shame. read more

Fair price for super friendly flexible service. I've got 3 pups so coordinating 1 trip for all 3 sometimes can be an issue. They were great at working with my schedule. They also let them wander around the shop instead of crating which is awesome as one of my 3 is afraid of being crated. read more

Oh boy. I'm going to try to be nice. I had seen the reviews for Grateful Dogg and although I should've listened, I ignored the negative ones and decided to try them out anyway. I have a 3 year old golden doodle named Zion. He's literally my child, furthest thing from a "pet" (dog moms know where I'm coming from). I ended up bringing Zion here for haircuts about 4-5 times within the last year. The prices are cheap, and the cuts for the most part were always satisfying. The staff, however, is not the friendliest and most of the time you'll just get a passive aggressive attitude. Zion is the most loving dog, would never hurt a fly. His personality is great and he listens to you no matter how bad he doesn't want to. I've given him baths and cuts at home before so I know what he likes and doesn't like. Every time I would drop him off, he'd jump up and attach his arms around my hips squeezing me - extremely unlike his normal behavior. I ignored this sign and I still am beating myself up about it. When I would pick him up, he would ignore me in the car and when we got home for about a full 24 hours - which is also extremely unlike his normal behavior; he's my emotional support animal and I've had him since he's been 12 weeks old, we're basically inseparable. The last time I dropped him off there, he did the same thing and basically hugged me tight like he didn't want to be left alone there, but I left him anyway and cried when I got in the car because I couldn't imagine what he was so scared of. I had seen the one review on yelp about the woman who brought her two doodles here who she felt were also mistreated. That should've been my first red flag. So flash forward to last week, I brought Zion to a different groomer, Doggy Downtime, which took a huge weight off my shoulders. (They're great there, try them out). When I dropped him off, he didn't show one sign of being scared, knowing we were at the groomers (he knows the word groomer and what it means). He walked right back with her after meeting the woman. She texted me when he was done (about 1 1/2 hours) and I went to pick him up. Not only was he excited to see me but he didn't ignore me AT ALL, not even in the car or at home. He was happy as could be! The woman who cut him said she had to talk to me and basically wanted to know if he's ever had bad experiences with the groomer before and I told her I had not ever been told he's been bad before, so no. She proceeded to tell me that he seemed deathly afraid of the tub and getting washed (WHICH IS NOT LIKE HIM) and that she just needed her assistant to help calm him down. (Zions way of being scared is just curling up in a ball, he'll never lash out or get mad at you). So when she told me this, my stomach dropped and I immediately told her where he used to go - Grateful Dogg. I told her how My intuition was telling me he was being mistreated there which is why I decided to switch. All in all, use your own judgement. I am not accusing anyone of anything, but if you read this in full, you can make up your own mind. Animals speak to us, so if you feel something isn't right, something most likely is not right. If you're someone who works here and you're reading this, I pray to God that you aren't mistreating your customers babies. Karma is real. read more

My dogs are like my children so I am very glad I found Grateful Dogg to groom them. My dog hates a bath but he is happy and comfortable with Val, Amanda and the rest of the great gals at GD. The prices are very affordable but more importantly I love the neighborly feel and quality care my family gets here because that is hard to find. read more

I brought my 2 doodles here on 3 occasions. The first two times, everything went ok. The third time was a nightmare. When we showed up for our appointment (that we had for weeks), they were very rude and acted like we were unexpected. They shaved one of my doodles down to the skin (in January) claiming she was too matted. I get them groomed every 4-5 weeks... things were in decent shape. Also when I picked them up, I had to question if they were mistreated. Horrible feeling. These are my babies. Although there are very few groomers in the Denver area, please steer clear of this place. read more

If only I could give negative stars. We drove up from Lone Tree in a snow storm to make our 7:30am appointment; planned ahead so we would arrive early. The person that opened the shop was late and rude! I wouldn't have minded her being late if she wasn't so rude. She gave me attitude when I walked in to see if she was ready for my dogs. I wanted to give her a moment to get settled, and when I walked in to ask if she was ready she refused to even make eye contact with me and just pointed at the sign saying "yea, open." She complained about the snow making her late, but it was pretty tough to miss the fact that she took the time to stop at Starbucks on her way into the store. Again, being late would not have been an issue if she had just been accountable and friendly. We made a point to be on time out of respect for their time, as customers, we would simply request the same respect for our time. We all have bad days and the snow was tough, but that does not warrant treating customers badly. Unfortunately, if she's this rude to a first time customer I have serious concerns about how she would treat my dogs. Sadly, we will not be back. read more

My boyfriend and I have been taking our Australian Shepherd here for over a year now and we have never had any complaints. As previous reviews have said, there are some inconsistencies between groomers, but generally, they have all been friendly and given a good cut. Today, my boyfriend was dropping off our dog for her next appointment and was so appalled by the owner's behavior that we have decided to take our business elsewhere. It started by my boyfriend describing to the owner how we generally get our Aussie cut (we like it on the shorter side, but never shaved), for which he received a scolding from her saying how bad it was to cut an Aussie's hair short and insisting that no groomer at her establishment is allowed to cut a double coated dog in that fashion. Additionally, my boyfriend explained that we were not asking for a shave, which she couldn't seem to comprehend, as she continued to say, 'shaving a double coated dog is bad for them'. Please be aware that every time we have visited Grateful Dog, we show the groomer a picture of how we like them to groom our dog and they have all insisted that the cut is just fine. The owner checked the records and surely enough found that her establishment, was indeed cutting our dog's coat short (again, not shaved). At that point my boyfriend asked for our dog, as he no longer wanted to leave her there for the grooming session. Once that occurred, the owner back tracked that stated 'I will do this for you, but normally wouldn't do this type of cut for any new customers coming off the street'. Nothing like being rude to a frequent customer and then back peddling once you see money walking out the door. We are happy to be educated politely on dog grooming, but you should not be treating customers this way. If I could give negative stars, I would. read more
