We checked out Grater on a Saturday afternoon. Originally was going to check out another place nearby but it was packed, but glad we chose Grater! The menu is extensive and everything looked so good we didn't know what to chose! We got the lobster grilled cheese which was $13.99 I believe which is pretty good price and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I liked the lobster grilled cheese. We were really impressed with this place. We got the Country Mac and Cheese and it was really good. Like REALLY good! For some reason I thought the portion would be bigger. It was $10 and I would size it to be two sides for two people. We had two adults and two kids (7 and 4) and it was not enough. My 7 year old daughter could had finished the whole thing by herself. We will definitely try the others. 5/5 is my vote! We also got two sandwiches to share. The lobster and the carnivore one. The kids ate the carnivore and it basically taste like a patty melt/hamburger. I expected the cheese to be wet like cheese wiz but it was cheesy from deli cheese. It was still good. I would rate this 3/5. The lobster was really good! The flavor is rich and you can taste the lobster. Since the flavor is rich, the flavor can get pretty heavy so this is a good sandwich to share if you want to try the others. I would rate this 4.5/5. Hubby thought the free fries through the yelp checkin offer were good. I thought they needed a bit more salt. The texture was good. I would rate it 3.5/5. This place has so much potential. It's off of the Main Street. We went on a Monday after lunch time and they were not busy at all. Actually they were cleaning and all the indoor tables and chairs were up. I thought they were closed by the way the workers were acting. The guy behind the counter was mopping and kinda ignored us for the first 5 mins while we looked over the menu. Ordered the lobster Mac and it was very good and came with a lot of lobster mixed in. This spot is among other food businesses. I only ordered for takeout so I didn't stay. I waited outside the location at the dining tables. Only wait for my order about 8 minutes. The guy at the cashier, sorry I didn't catch his name, but he was very nice greeted me and asked if I had a pickup order or ordering takeout. He knew his menu items and brought the items I had ordered out to me. I had ordered the Chef's special which was the Jalapeño Cream Cheese Grilled Cheese. We ordered 3 grilled cheese sandwiches and 2 loaded fries. Online ordering allows you to order spreads with each item, so we ordered 2 for each item. We ended up only getting 4 spreads TOTAL. We like to use a lot of sauce which is why we ordered it. We also would have paid if they told us we needed to for that amount of sauce. But they didn't say anything and just shorted us. The sandwiches were good. We got the Texas, Philly and Chicken Pesto. The short rib in the Texas was tender and moist, but overall was a bit dry, maybe due to the thickness of the cheese and the onion rings. The Chicken Pesto was moist and flavorful, probably my favorite one. My brother said his Philly was really good. We also ordered 2 lobster fries and ended up tossing most of it. It was EXTREMELY dry and seemed like it was sitting for a while. The fries were like ones that come frozen. The lobster & krab topping was good, but even the shredded krab was dried out. The picture on online ordering shows their beer Chipotle aioli drizzled on top and served on the side, but there was nothing on either of our fries. We paid almost $60 including tax and tip, which is a little steep considering the quality of the fries. The grilled cheese sandwiches were good though and worth the price I guess. Covid Review I'm almost certain I found this place on social media and I was not disappointed. Most places take really great photos of their food with great angles and lighting, but when you get your food - it looks nothing like what you saw on IG. We got a Lobster Grilled Cheese, a Cordon Blue and the Avocado. There is a community out door eating area - but we took our food to go and to my surprise, the sandwiches were still nice and crunchy when we got home (10 min drive). All 3 sandwiches were filled with cheesy yummy goodness. When we went they had a checkin special and we got an order of fries for free. It;s a teeny tiny bag.... and they were ok. I visited here for the first time on 07/13/2022 at lunchtime. I placed an order online for pick-up. I didn't come for the namesake Grilled cheese, as today was National French Fry Day, and I decided to take an order of the Buffalo Fries. I was not disappointed. This was a generous serving of fries with cheese melted on top, as well as quite a bit of the buffalo chicken pieces. (Probably the equivalent of two buffalo strips chopped up) The fries were fried to just a crispy, golden perfection! I am not sure how they did it; however, they were just excellent. I do wish they would have added a bit more cheese; however, let's be honest -- I didn't need it. I do wish they would add a separate sign for pick ups only, as it was a little weird waiting in the main line for about 7 minutes, when my order was ready on the counter. I should not say "just" grilled cheese, because that's very good here, both in the traditional GC as well as the various sandwiches which add on different ingredients. Two non-sandwich menu items stand out here. The first is simple: their "Pomme Frites" which includes Truffle Oil, Parmesan Cheese and Parsley. The downside is that the food wasn't hot like it had just been prepared(not cold but sitting under and lamp). The mac was good and I enjoyed it, but not the best I've had. It had a type of fried onion on top (like the French's fried onions you see on green bean casseroles) that I gave to my husband. I'm sure that would have added some nice flavor but doesn't settle well with my stomach. I would recommend getting a container more appropriate for a gooey pasta. If you have never been here before, get the grilled cheese, any kind. The five cheese blend makes it taste great. I prefer the carnivore grilled cheese as it has a burger patty. I've had burgers here and the burgers are OK. I've had the loaded fries and loaded mac n' cheese. The loaded additions makes it worthwhile as the mac n' cheese and fries by themselves don't work for me. The mac n' cheese, although a five cheese blend, doesn't have the same effect on me as the grilled cheese. The fries are OK. Add some fried chicken with buffalo sauce to either and it works. Bacon and ranch gives a big boost as well. Because I need loaded fries or mac n' cheese to go along with my carnivore grilled cheese, it makes it an expensive lunch, $25 if you add a drink. I been here many times but my visits are infrequent because of the price point. Three stars! read more
