    Classic Hammer Burger
    Tiffany P.

Wanna demolish a gloriously messy burger and catch the game at the same time? Then this is the spot for you! The Classic Burger arrives exactly how a smash burger should: wide, crispy-edged patties spilling over the bun, melty cheese, and mustardy House sauce dripping down our hands with every bite. What surprised us most was actually the sauce lineup. Most burger joints offer a couple of options and call it a day. Here, we've got buttermilk ranch, jalapeño ranch, chipotle mayo, white BBQ, Hammer sauce, and our fave: garlic toum. Creamy, garlicky, and addictive - we found ourselves dunking everything into it! The vibe is relaxed and lively, with plenty of TVs showing sports and a crowd that's there for good food and a good time. One thing to keep in mind: parking can be a bit of an adventure. There's plenty of metered street parking around, but it's a busy area, so you may need to circle a bit before scoring a spot.

Hammer Burger has quickly become one of our favorite casual spots for smash burgers, hot dogs, and shakes. Their smash burgers are cooked perfectly every time -- crispy edges, juicy center -- and the Hammer Sauce takes them to another level. They also offer a variety of sauces for free, including chipotle mayo, ranch, and my personal favorite, the jalapeño ranch. All of them pair really well with their shoestring fries. We usually park in the nearby parking structure, which (if I'm remembering correctly) offers the first hour free. The only thing to be aware of is that the area sometimes hosts street events, and on those days the structure charges a flat $10 fee even if you're just there to eat. Otherwise, it's an easy short walk to the restaurant. Inside, Hammer Burger has both a bar area and a dining area. You order at the counter, and the food is brought out to you. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Overall, great food, great service, and a solid spot for a satisfying smash burger.

We're back and we're still obsessed except this time I have to shout out their burger of the month: the chorizo smash. IT IS SO GOOD! It's like a burger and a taco had a baby. We made it a triple and got the pickled onions on the side just cause and no regrets. Sidenote another special shout out to the beeriest beer cheese I've ever had (in the best way), like this cheese is almost hoppy and I love it sm. Final shout out to the service! Everyone's always so nice and hospitable. We usually sit at the bar and enjoy one of their rotational draft beers :)

Walk in and order from the counter.

We hit up Hammer Burger to help celebrate their third anniversary. We love this place and have been coming since they opened so this review is long overdue. The location off 4th street in Santa Ana is perfect, walkable to so many other cool spots in the area like Mission Control and 4th Street market but the food, beer and service make Hammer Burger a must visit. The smash burgers are tops when it comes to smash burgers, with crispy lace around the edges, super soft buns and an amazing selection of delicious house made sauces. We love to get a burger, split a basket of fries and sample every sauce along the way. Our favs include the garlic sauce, hammer sauce and Chipotle mayo but they are all delicious and you can self serve as much as you want. This is definitely a place for craft beer lovers. They partner and collab with local breweries so you are always sure to find delicious, fun new beers. We tried a Dole Whip smoothie sour beer from Bottle Logic and it was insane - completely stretching the limits of craft beer and surprisingly amazing. We also got a hazy IPA that was great. If you love smash burgers, sauces and craft beer, you won't be disappointed.

genuinely amazing burgers, I've been craving them ever since I first tried them. Service was good, the burgers were made pretty quickly, the price is a little expensive. I'm pretty sure the burgers were 12 each, however I would go get them again. Place was clean, and had cool art on the walls. and there were other business inside as well. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Looking to indulge in some great smash burgers? Hammer Burger is your place to go to. Not only was the service quick, with great meat and great recommendations, but you can also get drinks and beer here as well. One of the things that we really enjoyed was the chili cheese fries. We had a long, fun night out and just wanted to devour some dolch with some great burger and fries, and Hammer Strength has never disappointed. Lots of space on the inside with plenty of TVs for you to watch the local World Cup games, and I'd highly recommend the West Coast IPA that they have.

I was visiting OC and this is supposedly my friends favorite smash burger spot. I can see why! Love the vibe of this spot. We sat at the bar and the bartender was really cool and very helpful. I got a single patty and it was soo good! My friend said I should get a double but the single was plenty! We got some sides too, fried and onion rings. And the onion rings were perfect, perfect balance between onion and batter. Also they have all these different sauces, all are pretty good! Especially the garlic! Yummm Check them out!

Hammer Burger, or Hammer Burger. Where have you been??? I'm so lucky I came across this spot! Smash burgers that are consistent, delicious and have lots of sauce choices. Excellent customer services. A fun vibe to eat in or take out, they are amazing either way! I also get greeted by Pepper, and any questions are answered with confidence. To avoid long lines, I recommend placing an order online through their website. I ordered the Calibama and my partner got the Spicy Smash. We tend to switch it up every now and then. I also get my cravings satisfied by eating these burgers. Only downside is it's a longer drive than other places but most definitely worth it. The price point is very helpful too. Come to Hammer Burger! No gate keeping here for the best smash burger in Santa Ana.

Very solid smash burger. I had their original and spicy smash burger and both were pretty good. Their fries were average and onion rings were okay. They don't do anything wrong and overall it's good just doesn't amaze me. The price is a little high and the location is right next to 4th street so it's pretty good other than parking. Come try it because I'm sure it is worth it to try at least once. They also had 3-4 TVs and a bar area to come watch some games. Also a happy hour exists as well.

Another 5 star experience. This place keeps it simple and delicious. Great smash burger and excellent service. This time we went with the fried pickles and the sweet potato fries - both were a perfect pairing with the burger. I really enjoy all the fun dipping sauces to try. I will be back again.

was craving a smash burgers and stopped by here for the first time! got their original hammer smash ($10) and single portion fries ($3). you order first at the register and they brought it to our table which is very nice. love their own housemade sauce bar (free!!!) and ample clean seating. smash burger is good, exactly what i was craving. it's nothing too unique though, maybe since i got the original one, but nice to try if you're in the area

Sooooolid smash burger spot. The classic smash burger did not disappoint. Love that they have a big selection of self-service sauces to go with everything, including a house made hot sauce. It's a cool spot with a bar and plenty of seating. You order at the counter but servers come around and check on you to make sure you're enjoying the food. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you want a quick burger stop!

    Trent V.

I really love this place. The burgers are great. The sides and sauces are good. But it's all about the burgers. Double spicy smash is my go to. I do notice a bit of disparity of quality depending on who is cooking. But generally I leave really really happy

I don't mean to be "that guy" but what oil are the fries cooked in?

    I don't know

    Does this location accept cash?

    Yes

    When is happy hour?

Tuesday - Friday, 2-5 PM. 20% off select food items, $2 off all alcohol.

Are the gluten free fries or sweet potato fries cooked in a dedicated fryer or same one the onion rings are cooked in?

Shoestring fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer and are gluten free and vegan. Sweet potato fries and onion rings are cooked in the same fryer together and are vegetarian. All meat products are cooked separately in their own fryer.

Are the chili cheese fries gluten free?

Our fries and chili are gluten free, but there is gluten in the beer cheese sauce because of the beer. Feel free to substitute American or shredded cheddar instead to make it gluten free.

    Any gluten free options?

Yes. We can make any burger or sandwich a lettuce wrap and our shoestring fries, sweet potato fries, and loaded fries are gluten free.

Are you dog friendly on the patio?

Unfortunately not. We do not have an outdoor patio so we can only allow service animals inside.

    Do you accept phone orders?

Not quite yet, but we’re working on rolling that out soon. Stay tuned!

Do you do private events and what's the minimum?

Yes we do. Minimum is $1250, or 100 people. All the information about catering, plus a way to contact us is on our website. www.hammerburger.com/catering

Can you get the burger without cheese? I can't do dairy. Thanks!

Yeah they'll make it however you want it. These burgers rock!!!

So is this place still arround?

Hi Roger. Thanks for your interest! Yes we are still around, though we don't actually have a physical location. Catch us at our next popup, Sat 6/20 4pm @ Asylum Brewing in Anaheim.

There was a line out the door just to order drinks, with only two bartenders working. The second-floor bar was closed, so I went up to the third-floor bar and waited in line for almost an hour before eventually giving up. What made it more frustrating was that the bartenders seemed to be serving people crowding around the bar instead of those who had been waiting in line. There really should have been someone managing the line to keep things organized and fair. We arrived about 2.5 hours before the game started and were able to find seating, but by halftime the place felt completely over capacity--to the point where it was difficult to move around. There should have been staff at the entrance monitoring capacity and controlling entry. We ended up leaving at halftime. Honestly, this was the worst experience I've had at a brewery, and after being a longtime customer, I'll probably take a break from coming back for a while.

I came in with friends and ordered a pitcher along with several shots. The server, a young white male, brought the shots and only one cup of beer. I immediately told him I had ordered a pitcher, but he insisted I never said that -- even though I had already been charged. To avoid arguing, I told him to just bring a pitcher and charge me again respectfully. He refused and told me I would have to go back and wait in line if I wanted one. When I asked to speak with a manager, he said the manager was unavailable. We later noticed him walking around the patio taking pitcher requests from other customers and bringing them directly to their tables without sending them back in line. We politely asked again, and he said "okay," but repeatedly ignored us, walking past our table multiple times. When my friend followed up, he suddenly claimed he couldn't serve us and again told us to get back in line. There was no clear reason for the difference in treatment. Watching others get served while we were repeatedly refused, despite being respectful customers, made the situation feel discriminatory. As Latino customers in a predominantly Latino community, the behavior came across as biased and unacceptable. It's extremely disappointing because I've supported this place for nearly a decade and had never experienced anything like this before. Unfortunately, this interaction completely changed my view of this establishment. I would not recommend coming here if respectful and fair service matters to you.

For years, Hangar 24 has been a place where families can gather, enjoy great food and drinks, listen to live music, and allow their children to safely play and have fun. It has created a welcoming environment that appeals to a broad audience, and that family-friendly atmosphere is one of the reasons so many people continue to return. Last night, however, I noticed a significant change that concerned me. Instead of having the live band perform earlier in the evening, a DJ played first and the band performed much later. Many people, including myself, came specifically to enjoy the live band, and the new format seemed confusing to much of the crowd. As I observed throughout the evening, very few people were dancing during the DJ set. Most guests remained seated, looking uncertain about the change. In addition, some of the music selections and volume level felt inappropriate for a venue that attracts so many families with young children. I noticed several children covering their ears, and many parents appeared uncomfortable. From my perspective, Hangar 24's customer base is largely made up of families. Those families purchase food, drinks, and often stay for several hours while their children enjoy the outdoor space. By scheduling the live band later in the evening, many parents are forced to leave before the performance begins because their children are tired or it is simply too late for a family outing. If the goal is to attract a younger nightlife crowd, a better approach might be to have the live band perform earlier in the evening when families are present and then transition to a DJ later at night for guests who prefer that atmosphere. This would allow both audiences to enjoy the venue without alienating the families who have supported Hangar 24 for years. I am sharing this feedback because I genuinely enjoy coming to Hangar 24 and want to see it continue to succeed. I believe many guests share these concerns, and I hope management will carefully consider how these changes may impact the loyal family customer base that has helped make Hangar 24 such a popular destination. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, A Concerned Customer

After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
