I also suggest getting a side of mac n cheese like the buffallo chicken one its creamy and not plain tasting at all! If you want to pair it get a loaded fries like the country (its with bacon!) If you are coming to this Irvine plaza it's super busy around lunch time so if you are okay to wait then go right ahead! I had been so excited to try this place! Read amazing reviews on the HB location and passed by here. I am trying to be considerate due to COVID, but, health priorities and getting at a minimum of what you pay for are a priority. First thing we noticed when we walked in is that the employees were not wearing masks, they put them on when they noticed we were there. The employee who took our oder had one glove on to ring the register, with his bare hand he continued to wipe his nose and his hair out of his face. The same cashier cooked our sandwich. There was barely any cheese on the grilled cheese. I was honestly eating mostly bread. Delicious variations on grilled cheese sandwiches are served here! I stopped in around 6pm on a weekday evening. It's located in a strip mall consisting mostly of fast casual restaurants. The parking lot was packed and cars were circling around and around. After 5 minutes of searching I stopped in one of the aisles to do a yelp search for an alternate dining option. Just as I was about to leave someone pulled out in front of me so I got lucky. The parking here is terrible and frankly I have no clue where everyone was; the various food establishments weren't that busy so they obviously were all parked there and went somewhere else. Anyway, this place would have been a solid 4-star experience if not for the parking. There are about 5 tables inside this place but a large amount of patio seating that is shared with other eateries. The interior is kind of cute with cheese graters as light fixtures. You order at the counter. I picked the "B.A.T. Grilled Cheese" which had several cheeses (not sure which types - they refer to it as a "cheese blend") along with caramelized bacon, arugula, tomato and pesto aioli. I also got a side order of pommes frites (Belgian style fries) that are covered in truffle oil and parmesan cheese. They offer a fountain of natural sodas so I went with a pineapple cream soda. In less than 10 minutes my food was delivered to my table. The sandwich was delicious. The flavors melded well together. I admit to being a bit surprised at how much I liked it. They provide a lot of napkins knowing full well that the grilled bread is going to be greasy but certainly worth the mess. The fries were great. They were the type that are crunchy throughout. The ketchup they provided had something additional added to it which I liked but was mystified. I tried to figure out what exactly it was but came up blank. Other reviews take guesses but I honestly don't know. A slight sweetness but a bit of spice too. And I loved the pineapple soda. Holy cow. This little place is a gem. My family and I decided to try this place out since we couldn't decide what to eat...we were not disappointed that's for sure! If I had to choose between their Frittes and Mac 'N Cheese, I'd choose their Frittes because it was seasoned so well to where you don't need to dip into any sauce. Their Mac 'N Cheese was also really good, but it was a bit too greasy towards the bottom, but still yummy. If I had to choose between "The Philly" or "Carnivore", they're both tied. I do like both and wouldn't mind trying either one. All the employees wore masks and gloves. There are tables outside where you can sit out and eat, but we preferred takeout. Food is not super quick but that's because it's fresh My coworkers ordered the pastrami one and that looked better than mine. Really good. I don't get the whole spicy pickle on the side. Both lacked any real flavor or WOW. I think the idea is nice... not too original, but a nice idea.... but the pricing needs to come way down.
