I came when there wasn't a line, so the time from ordering to getting the food was quick. The burgers and fries were both very good, fresh, and filling (justifying the price point). I liked the crunch of the meat and the overall flavors. However, we were standing in the dark and cold on a Friday night for almost TWO HOURS‼ waiting for our colossal order of two burgers and two fries. I get that this spot blew up online which is great for them! Given that there is a bigger crowd, long wait, and there are only two types of burgers on the menu, I think they could probably speed up operations somehow by investing in another grill. They could even add some folding tables and chairs for the many waiting customers to use. I would want to come back, but I just don't think these burgers are worth that long of a wait. read more

It's fine, very overhyped, but still a delicious burger. Rating would be 3.5 stars but I rounded down for my personal experience. We arrived around 6:30pm and they literally sold out within a few minutes after we ordered. They only had burgers no fries which is fine, but then we proceeded to wait over 1.5 hours for a smash burger with one slice of cheese for 12-13$ each. Don't get me wrong- they were delicious. The bread was buttery soft and the meat was fried crispy and flat like a smash burger should be but not worth the wait in the cold and dark at that price point. We definitely came shortly after they blew up so there might have been some underestimation on their end in terms of planning but there really isn't anything particularly amazing about this burger you can't find anywhere else. To be fair, they did give out one free drink to the two of us for waiting so long. read more

4.5 rounding up IG made me do it. They had me at wagyu halal. Fridays 5 pm - whenever they sell out. Now in the reels they did warn that it took about an hour from waiting in line to order till the order was ready, so I kept that in mind. The parking is a little wonky because it's a pop up but I was lucky to find street parking nearby. By the time I got there, there was already a long line of people patiently waiting to put in their order. I was looking forward to having fries with my cheeseburger but unfortunately, they weren't selling fries that night. Bummer. At any rate, it did take about 10 minutes before ordering three doubles - one without sauce and two with sauce. I waited about 40 more minutes before my order was called. During that time, I ordered a latte at another pop up next to Say Cheez Burger's tent. It was great because it kept me warm since the weather was getting colder at night. There was a man there with his dog and when I asked him if he's tried their burgers before, he said, "Yes, four times. It's definitely worth the wait." I was excited hearing this. By the time I got it home, it was still nice and warm (I think it helped that I put on the heater and they put a cover over the box). The cheeseburger was a hit at home. I took my time eating this to taste all the flavor. I love really smashed burgers so this was really tasty to me. I love the little crispy edges, grilled onion bits, and the soft grilled potato buns with the melted cheese and pickles. I have to say it was pretty damn near perfect. The burgers are rather large which helped with the price point of $12. Now, is it THE best? No, but it's up there! I'd say Mario's Butcher Shop Deli is probably the best smash burger I've had thus far but it's missing the crispy lacy edges that Say Cheez Burger has. read more

I love a good smash burger and this place hits the spot!! I'm sad they're only open on Fridays but it's such a great end of the work week treat. They're a small popup in the back of a random street but don't let that deter you. There were quite a few people waiting for their orders but the ordering process was quick. The workers were super super nice. I had to place an extra order a few minutes after my original order and the worker said he'll add it all in one so i wouldn't have to wait extra longer :) I love that they packaged all the burgers in a box that made it easy to transport. It stayed nice and warm and crispy even 15 min later. The burger itself was yummy! Ive never had a burger that was so crispy and juicy at the same time. We ordered 5 burgers tonight as we have been wanting to try this place but with their limited open time, we haven't been able to coordinate. The rating would be a 3.5/5. I found the beef to be a bit salty and didn't care for the crunch. I understand it is a smash burger, but the meat was over done. I appreciated that the burger bun and burger itself did not get soggy, even though we had to drive 30 mins before eating. The sauce was a good blend. Say Cheez Burger is a small establishment. I went to their opening day and a couple of times since then. They're located across a mosque every Friday night under a tent. I really like their smash burgers but it's definitely on the overpriced side. My husband and I got four burgers and one fries for $56. I believe each burger was $13. The service is relatively fast depending on the day. There's no way to contact them with a phone number so you should check their IG account to make sure that they haven't sold out for the night. Overall-- I would come here once in awhile, especially if I happen to be at the mosque on a Friday night, but if I want a burger, I can get them from cheaper places. read more

The bun is soft and holds together well without getting too soggy and the size of the bun and meat is almost double the size of other smash burgers. If you're in Irvine, and looking for a real, good quality smash burger, pull up. Sadly they're only open on Fridays. We were in OC doing a mini food crawl for our anniversary and we were staying in Lake Forest. In search for some late night munchies this place showed up and said it was open Friday nights only. Not far off the 5 freeway, the popup was in a parking lot under two tents so parking was plentiful but the area was extremely busy. We waited in line for about 5 min. and since the menu is very straightforward ordering was very easy. There were alot of people for a Friday night at 8:30 I thought the wait would be rather long but it was only 15-20 minutes so these guys were pretty efficient. We did the regular double and the spicy double. Regular Double (no pickles) - 5 Star - Very well seasoned meet with a crispy edge and cooked to a prefect medium. It came with finally chopped grilled onions and what was described as "thousand island" sauce. This was a sandwiched between a flattened buttered, slightly toasted, potatoe bun (?). This thing is a very good size, maybe not a two hander but close. Double spicy (no pickles) - 4 Star - Same exact setup as the regular but they tossed on raw sliced Jalapano. We definitely got a spicy one in there so this one had a nice kick. Slightly cooked jalapeños would have kicked this up to a 5 star, but still a great burger. Total with tip was $30. read more

Really interesting little pop up near the Islamic Center of Irvine! They serve halal wagyu smash burgers in either a standard or spicy configuration. I ordered the standard double smile and fries. Burger: Really nicely cooked and seasoned. They really flatten them to get that lacy edge that makes smash burgers so delicious. Great fresh buns and toppings as well, really good flavor overall Fries: A little disappointing. They aren't bad, they're just fairly standard. I would skip if I came back and just settle for the burger, its really quite good. Price: Its slightly high for what it is. Fast Food is expensive these days and $12 for a burger is a lot of money, especially when you consider a place like In-N-Out serves a similar type of burger for much less. Obviously these guys are a small pop-up and can't really hit the same margins as a major chain so I can definitely forgive them that. They are serving a high quality product and are also Halal so if that is something that you need to keep in mind, you're covered here. Verdict: I'd say for the average person, if you live in the area and don't mind paying more for a really well executed, good tasting smash burger, I can highly recommend it.
