I visited here for lunch recently for the first time. Grato is located in a nice strip center on an end cap with plenty of parking. Inside it is one large room that portrays a pleasant atmosphere. Outside in front is an uncovered patio for alfresco dining. From their lunch menu I ordered the chicken cacciatore that comes with salad and bread for $15. First to arrive was the small salad that was very good tasting. Along with it was a bread basket with 2 biscuits. Those biscuits were buttered with some Parmesan cheese on top. I thought the biscuits were too dry and dense. The entree arrived about 15 minutes later. The plate looked attractive with the sliced mushrooms and red sauce. The marinara needed more flavor and punch in my opinion. I would consider that in ordering their other marinara sauce pasta meals. The table service was good and the prices reasonable. While this meal did not stand out to me, I would be happy to return.

I want to start this by saying that I'm an Italian food snob of the highest order! This comes from having a 4'5" Italian MIL by way of my sisters husband, cooking every meal from scratch. So when I saw this unassuming little place tucked in I had a feeling I needed to try it, so when my friend came home and said "Im hungry!" All I said was YES, Italian, Grato's! And I'm so glad I did. We started with the artichoke dip (sorry gone too fast for a pic) and it's truly the best I've ever had, it's served with fresh garlic bread slices and enough to last the whole serving of dip. Let's talk about that Eggplant Parm perfection... it's truly drool worthy, chef did it perfect, fork tender and not a single bit rubbery and it's served with a more than generous serving of spaghetti. Note: for a small uncharged you can get a different pasta. My friend got the meat lasagna, but dug in before I could even ask to snap a pic. She said it was awesome and VERY loaded with meat and cheese. And last but definitely not least that dessert! It was not on the menu, but on the specials board out front and I knew just by the name I was gonna have some of that. And I'm so glad I did, cause it was like a little slice of heaven and there was a party in my mouth! I highly recommend making a trip to the Grato no matter what part of town you're in it'll be worth it! I'm pretty sure I'm gonna become a regular!

Well I was really hoping for good things based on the existing reviews, but unfortunately i was extremely disappointed... The service was 2 star at best, they did keep the waters refilled but everyone seemed annoyed and like they'd rather be anywhere else. The food was the equivalent of what you'd find in the frozen meal section at walmart. I ordered a Calzone that came to the table cold in the middle, and scorching hot on the edges. The Chicken Penne Ala Vodka had overcooked/dry chicken and stale pasta, with a watered down sauce. didn't even bother getting dessert after the disappointing entrees.

Grato Italian made for a pleasant weekday lunch spot. The restaurant wasn't busy when I arrived, and I was seated immediately. Service was attentive throughout my meal. The meal started strong with complimentary garlic knots - fluffy, buttery, and topped with a generous amount of garlic paste. While the Caesar salad was properly tossed, it was overdressed and otherwise unremarkable. The chicken penne alla vodka stood out as the star - creamy, flavorful, and served in a generous portion. Their lunch special offered great value, allowing me to add a side salad for just a small additional cost. My entire bill came to only $20 including a drink, which felt like an excellent deal for the quality and quantity of food. While not perfect (the salad could use improvement), Grato delivered a satisfying Italian lunch experience with good service and standout pasta dishes. The excellent pricing and quality main dishes make this a spot worth returning to. A solid 4-star experience overall.

Everything was really good, food and service was excellent! The restaurant had a few customer and the decor and the feel of the place seem nice and calm. What we ordered: Appetizers - Italian Sampler (fried mushroom, fried mozzarella & toasted ravioli) - Mussels Marinara My favorite from the appetizer was the toasted ravioli. Entrees - Pasta Alfredo (I asked for the fried chicken) - Zuppa de Pesce (Mussels, clams, shrimps and crawfish sauté with white wine, olive oil, basil, and spicy marinara sauce with linguine pasta) The pasta was so creamy, and I really enjoyed my dish! My husband ordered the seafood pasta, and he must have loved it because he finished his whole plate. Lol We wanted dessert but was so full. We will definitely be back.

Well, where do I start? This was disturbingly sad. We'll just get that out-of-the-way right at the beginning. This was supposed to be a meatball sub. Not a cut in half meatloaf thrown onto bread. And then delivered to me. The smattering of sauce was borderline. Pathetic. I choked this down because I had already paid for it. Ordering this is like ordering a slab of meatloaf on bread. It's like asking to borrow a Ferrari and finding out it's a kit car. It just doesn't work. The bread on the other hand was amazing. Very soft very supple. Very nice. The horrible piece of meat and the crap sauce that I was given. Do not make up for a very nice piece of bread. Seriously. This, then, my friends deserves a rock solid two out of five stars

    Fried calamari: chef's kiss!

It's hard to judge a restaurant when you are ordering take-out, but this place gets all the stars!! I was seriously craving pasta, and Grato's made the chance worthwhile! The shrimp piccata was amazing: full, lemony flavor covered in salty, delicious capers! I went all-out and upgraded my side salad to Greek, and also added the garlic knots...a perfect compliment to dinner! The fried calamari were also spot-on! I can't wait to try Grato's in person!

The pasta I received not only didn't have flavor but it wasn't drained. $18 plate with a small side of Cesar salad.

See picture below to see the quality of the food received. No good presentation, flavor and definitely pasta needed to be drained.

Disappointing experience and definitely not worth the price…read more This was our first time trying Marvinos, and unfortunately, I can say we will not be coming back. We were seated quickly and ordered our food shortly after arriving. However, it took over an hour for our food to come out. During that entire time, no one came by to check on us or give us an update. We could see several waiters standing around talking, which made the lack of attention even more frustrating. Eventually, a waiter came by and asked what we were waiting for. I told him we had been waiting for our food for over an hour. He went to check on it and came back saying it would be "two more minutes." I ordered the 12 oz American Wagyu New York Strip, medium, with mashed potatoes. I have never had to wait that long for a steak, especially at this price point. When the food finally arrived, the steak was extremely disappointing. I ordered my steak medium, but it came out very unevenly cooked. Parts were closer to well-done while other sections were still medium-rare. Only about a third actually being medium. It was also tough and lacked flavor. After waiting over an hour, I expected much better. The mashed potatoes were actually good and probably the only part of the meal I really enjoyed. For dessert, I ordered the tiramisu. It was okay, but nothing particularly memorable or worth mentioning. We also witnessed a very concerning situation at the table next to us. Their left over food had apparently been lost, and when it was brought back out, they were given someone else's leftovers. The customer immediately pointed out that it wasn't his food, and the restaurant had to make him a new meal because he understandably hadn't touched it. Overall, we paid about $155 for two, and for that price, I expected a much better experience, especially in terms of service, food quality, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, the long wait, poorly cooked and tough steak, lack of service, and the situation we witnessed with another customer made the experience very disappointing. Definitely not worth the money or time.

Being busy wasn't really the issue. How everything was handled was. My wife ordered a Caesar salad that we've had here before and enjoyed, but tonight it just wasn't good. We let our server know and asked if we could replace it with a small/kids-sized Alfredo instead. She wasn't particularly apologetic, but said she would take care of it. I actually had to hand her the salad to get it cleared from the table. By the time a manager came over, everyone else, including the kids, had completely finished eating. She apologized for the delay and explained that a large delivery order had come in, but then mentioned that we had "changed our order" afterward, but it would be out soon. Maybe she didn't mean it that way, but it landed like the delay was partly on us for sending back. We've both worked in restaurants, so we understand getting slammed. We understand large orders. We understand mistakes. What matters is communication and how you recover when something goes wrong. When our server brought the check, she told us she had "done what she could," which apparently meant removing the salad from the bill. Fair enough. Except after I signed, I realized we had also been charged for four glasses of wine when we only had three. At that point, we were done and just wanted to leave. None of these things individually would have prompted a bad review. It was the accumulation of them, along with the lack of ownership and the strange feeling that we were somehow inconveniencing the restaurant by pointing out a problem. This place is usually really good, and I genuinely hope this was just an off night. But it was easily the worst experience we've had here, and unfortunately it's one we'll remember before deciding to come back.
