Over the weekend I had a delivered from Grato but I'm very disappointed with the management I ordered Alfredo pasta with chicken and it was missing the chicken . I called the restaurant and the manager told me that unfortunately I order a pasta Alfredo only and she cannot do anything, she could give a better solution. I went to Grato Restaurant for the first time on Thursday with a friend, and I was so impressed that I went back again the very next day! We shared the Chicken Parmesan, Fettuccine with Chicken, and Lasagna. The house salad was crisp and fresh, and everything we ordered was made with quality ingredients. The portions are generously sized, and the prices are excellent. I have some food allergies, so I'm always a little cautious about trying a new restaurant. Everything I ate at Grato agreed with me, which made the experience even better. The food was honestly better than what I've had at other Italian restaurants--and as good as, or maybe even better than, what I make at home. And I'm pretty good at making these dishes! And don't miss the rolls--they are AMAZING! From the outside, Grato looks like a little restaurant tucked into the corner of a strip center. But don't let the appearance fool you. The service was dramatically worse. The food when it came out was cold or lukewarm passed. We didn't even receive all of our order, and we're given someone else's check. We had our annual Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary Valentines Dinner. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. My wife had the Lasagna with a Cesar salad. I had chicken cutlet with Fettuccine Alfredo sauce. Besides the food which was INCREDIBLE. We had AMAZING SERVICE by " Anila" she took care of all of us from start to finish. I visited here for lunch recently for the first time. Grato is located in a nice strip center on an end cap with plenty of parking. Inside it is one large room that portrays a pleasant atmosphere. Outside in front is an uncovered patio for alfresco dining. From their lunch menu I ordered the chicken cacciatore that comes with salad and bread for $15. First to arrive was the small salad that was very good tasting. Along with it was a bread basket with 2 biscuits. Those biscuits were buttered with some Parmesan cheese on top. I thought the biscuits were too dry and dense. The entree arrived about 15 minutes later. The plate looked attractive with the sliced mushrooms and red sauce. The marinara needed more flavor and punch in my opinion. I would consider that in ordering their other marinara sauce pasta meals. The table service was good and the prices reasonable. While this meal did not stand out to me, I would be happy to return. read more

I want to start this by saying that I'm an Italian food snob of the highest order! This comes from having a 4'5" Italian MIL by way of my sisters husband, cooking every meal from scratch. So when I saw this unassuming little place tucked in I had a feeling I needed to try it, so when my friend came home and said "Im hungry!" All I said was YES, Italian, Grato's! And I'm so glad I did. We started with the artichoke dip (sorry gone too fast for a pic) and it's truly the best I've ever had, it's served with fresh garlic bread slices and enough to last the whole serving of dip. Let's talk about that Eggplant Parm perfection... it's truly drool worthy, chef did it perfect, fork tender and not a single bit rubbery and it's served with a more than generous serving of spaghetti. Note: for a small uncharged you can get a different pasta. My friend got the meat lasagna, but dug in before I could even ask to snap a pic. She said it was awesome and VERY loaded with meat and cheese. And last but definitely not least that dessert! It was not on the menu, but on the specials board out front and I knew just by the name I was gonna have some of that. And I'm so glad I did, cause it was like a little slice of heaven and there was a party in my mouth! The ambiance is old school Italian, you completely forget you are in a strip center. The waiters were very attentive and the food came out quick and hot!! We had the chicken piccata, fettuccine Alfredo and the chicken penne a vodka. They were all outstanding!! We have driven by this place every day for over a year so it qualifies as a hidden gem. We will absolutely be going back. The table next to us got a pizza, large/XL and split it between them and took a box home of leftovers. It looked fantastic! Well, where do I start? This was disturbingly sad. We'll just get that out-of-the-way right at the beginning. This was supposed to be a meatball sub. Not a cut in half meatloaf thrown onto bread. And then delivered to me. The smattering of sauce was borderline. Pathetic. I choked this down because I had already paid for it. Ordering this is like ordering a slab of meatloaf on bread. It's like asking to borrow a Ferrari and finding out it's a kit car. It just doesn't work. The bread on the other hand was amazing. Very soft very supple. Very nice. The horrible piece of meat and the crap sauce that I was given. Do not make up for a very nice piece of bread. Seriously. This, then, my friends deserves a rock solid two out of five stars read more

First time at GRATO down the street from home. Very small restaurant. Food tastes ok. Marinara?sauce on spaghetti & meatballs is a bit different. Might be slightly acidic. Needs to be thicker and richer. I was going somewhere else but it got dark outside, so I just went down Fry Rd a bit. Across town is a better place for this dish. Portions are a bit skimpy. SMALL Salad needs a couple of cucumber slices, and maybe some black olive? Service is excellent. Garlic bread rolls are delicious. I really enjoyed the pasta trio if you like lasagna and ravioli and other Italian dishes like that, I definitely recommend the pasta trio me and my dad also got a cannoli and tiramisu then we decided to eat them together and it was a delicious combination. Definitely recommend doing that with a strawberry. Family owned and wonderful people. This restaurant definitely requires a visit. The food is always fantastic and the owners are always there making sure you are happy. I would recommend the chicken penne ala vodka but nearly everything I've tried has been wonderful. As a note my son loves the pizza and Stromboli. There really aren't a ton of good sit-down restaurants in the 529/Fry area, but this one is an exception. The restaurant is rather small, in a busy strip center. This was about the third or fourth time we visited and it is always a solid choice. The seating area is nicely decorated and there were many customers but no wait on a Friday night. We were seated promptly upon arrival and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The dinner rolls that are served at the beginning of the meal were not spectacular but we did appreciate the butter/parmesan on the top. I ordered lasagna which came with a side salad that was cold and crisp. The lasagna was very good-I ate the whole thing! The rest of my family shared a Caesar salad and XL meat pizza which they enjoyed and were able to bring some leftovers home. The prices really are good-our whole dinner, including 2 glasses of wine was only $61 (pre-tip) which is much less than our usual Friday night dinner. Well it used to be a creole restaurant at this location but my palate was pleasantly impressed but the flowers prepared at Grato. The server gave great service. The only issue was the parking spaces since it took me awhile to find one. My friend had the lasagna lunch special with a Caesar salad and I ordered the chicken arrabbiata and it was amazing. They did warn me that it is a bit spicy. I love spicy so I was fine with it. It had the perfect spicy level. With was very flavorful with the cherry peppers and fresh basil. My friend took home a pepperoni pizza, the meatball appetizer and a soup for her family. We ordered two chicken Alfredo's, and a kids meal chicken tenders and pasta, when we got the food it was warm and so delicious. We dived right into the food, the Alfredo is good it has a different flavor to it that makes it different. THE Best pizza in Cypress (outside of authentic pizza what we make at home and get back home in NY). Finally a spot that understands what pizza should be, right down to the sauce. The dough is great and has a homemade taste, with a tender yet slightly crispy chew. Toppings are excellent, well proportioned, natural tasting and high quality. Love this spot - it's our go-to! My new favorite Italian restaurant in Cypress. The service was fast because it was early and there weren't many people there. I did see a lot of food delivery drivers picking up so I'm sure they stay busy . The ambiance is laid back and quiet. They do have a bar. The food is amazing! The portion sizes are huge so be prepared to take home a to-go bag. I didn't try other desserts but the crème brûlée was delicious.
