This Harris Teeter is the most convenient for me. In route right off Ritchie in and out with ease. From local produce, gluten free and organic options, and simple ingredients for a nourishing meal at home, satisfaction met each visit. Special kudos to Mr. Scott in the seafood department and his cordial service, the team up front at check out, customer service has been stellar! One of the reasons Harris Teeter is great in my estimation is because they're one of the few places left that have a full salad bar. Another reason is plenty of checkers who bag your items. Employees will always stop to help you when asked. Even if you don't ask if they see you wandering around with a questioning look on your face they will stop you and ask you if you need assistance. This kind of customer Service was normal 30 years ago and I'm glad there is one place that still puts the customer first these days. And they aren't charging me anymore for this good service. I tried for 3 days to place a delivery order. First off, the website had a problem with my card and told me to contact bank. I did, and there was no problem with card. I even used it on Amazon later that night. Then I was told my first name was invalid. Then my second name. Then I didn't have a correct expiration number on my card, Every single time I tried to place an order, there was a problem. I tried to call customer service, Actually a person answered but was unable to help with my type of question. I guess she is there to tell if a mango is ripe? This was a Saturday. She told me to call back Monday. Now I know IT people are always working. She could have transferred me to resolve the issue in 5 seconds. I didn't bother with calling. I have to mention what a great job Brian in the Meats/Seafood Department did for my wife and I. Companies can offer good pricing, however more important than price is customer service. Brian is a perfect example of what I appreciate. He listened and was more than happy to fulfill our needs. This is where I do my primary grocery shopping. Although some items are priced a little higher than you'd find at larger stores such as Walmart, it is worth it to have better customer service and a cleaner store. My husband cooks a lot of meat on his smoker and always raves about the deals on meat at the butcher counter. The butcher, Donald, is amazingly friendly and accomodating. He recognizes my husband every time he is in and helped him get specific cuts of meat on several occasions. He always likes to hear what and how my husband is cooking next. I have never dealt with any issues with customer service. I have always experienced people going out of their way to offer help and ensure that we found everything we needed. I am signed up for the eVic program which provides additional savings. I recommend their cooked, hot fried chicken, the fresh made pizzas and even the sushi station. Never had an issue with freshness. I have only had to return one item in the past and the process was quick and easy. The sales are usually pretty good and I was able to get rain checks at one point. I recommend Harris Teeter and plan on continuing to use them as my primary grocery store. read more

Worst Deli east of the Mississippi. If you're looking for a complete one-stop grocery store that includes a good deli, look elsewhere. I stopped by there today at 2:15 PM (12/11/23) to buy some sliced meats. There were 4-5 people laughing and cleaning equipment, moving stuff around, etc. They looked at me and just kept doing what they were before I walked up. Finally, a short woman with brown hair who was wearing a set of fake fuzzy antlers came to the counter and said, "no one's working here right now". I don't know if they were having a Christmas party or what, but I was stunned - whoever heard of a deli just closing in the early afternoon and turning customers away? Amazing! I walked away. Now the meat and seafood departments at this store are very friendly and responsive to their customers. But the deli is so bad that we've returned to Green Valley as our primary grocery store, even though we can ride a bicycle to Harris-Teeter and Green Valley is about 3 miles away. Seriously HT, just close the deli before you lose more customers. We've complained to the management 3 or 4 times, to no avail. The deli seems to be where they send lower-rated employees as punishment. read more

Great selection, great quality, especially the beef.....some hard to find items and good international section. The people are friendy but where there is serious failure is in the check out. Firstly they try to force you to be the cashier and check yourself out by closing all tellers but one which backs up the self checkout line as much as 20 minutes! No one wants to work an 8 hour day, do the shopping, the WORK FOR HARRIS TEETER FOR FREE BY CHECKING YOURSELF OUT........as much as a 20 minute wait.....then go home and cook dinner. The potential for a great store is there, but FAILURE BY MANAGEMENT is stunning. To make it worse there were plenty of employees wandering the store and after complaining to the manager he told me he was stressed and never did open a lane. The blame here falls on management or lack thereof. read more

Bottom Line: At last, a beautiful grocery store in Severna Park with a lot of variety. It seems like it took forever for the new Harris Teeter to be built but it is finally here adjacent to the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department and it is beautiful, as a new grocery store should be. It is also very large which is nice for the grocery store enthusiast but can be a bit of a hassle for someone who needs to get in and out quickly or has mobility concerns. This modern and full size grocery store has all of the amenities I would expect a lot more like the following: - Starbucks (and they even take Starbucks gift cards) - A drive through pharmacy and a decent sized "drug store" inside with cosmetics, medicine and such - Fresh salad bar - Hot food stations like a pizza station, Asian station and fresh bread station - A beautiful bakery with fresh baked goods and a huge number of frozen cakes ready to be decorated - A decent size seafood counter and a meat counter with ready to grill items like burgers and skewers - Flowers and gifts - Redbox movie rental kiosk and Coinstar machine - Self check out lanes I didn't have a "Very Important Customer" card but the cashier was glad to punch in the store number so I didn't have to get one. But, I did still grab one at Customer Service on my way out. The store was very well staffed and there were no signs that it was opening day. Everyone was friendly and engaging. Props to the team that was in charge of opening this store. The pharmacy is located at the front of the store but it would be nice if you could use the side door that directly goes into the Pharmacy. Also, I didn't see that many local products throughout the store but I will have to take a closer look next time. read more

The folks working there are surprisingly nice to work with. This location is always clean. The power of choice is compromised by store sizing and a lot of in house food labels. The fish market has improved significantly. The butcher- nice folks- and the meat department is super helpful and look out for the weekly specials like 1 1/2 inch t-bones for $9.99 lbs is great. This is my favorite supermarket in the area by far. The staff are always super friendly and enthusiastic to help and they have just about everything under the sun you could possibly need. One thing I noticed right away that makes this place stand out from other supermarkets is the high quality produce. It's very fresh and tastes great. There's not much more I need to say. I really wanted to like this store. I've been to Harris Teeters that are the best, most thorough, groceries in their towns. But finding the kind of things I want at this one is very hit or miss. To be fair, I am a crunchier than average shopper. Recent things I couldn't find: non-wheat cereal without tons of sugar, and whole bean decaf coffee. This was my second cake from Harris Teeter I've purchased ! The first one was a delicious vanilla birthday cake and this one was a chocolate birthday cake. The chocolate cake part tasted good but the bottom layer was extremely thin so instead of baking another layer they used icing to fill in the difference! Omg to sweet! Even my super sweet cake lover ( my mom) said this is to sweet! So it's a 50/50 chance you'll get a normal cake hear. So I'm probably not going to order anymore cakes hear witch is very disappointing because I shop hear all the time and it's rate down the street! to be totally honest this is a very lazy mistake by one person that cost a bakery because I myself order around 10 cakes a year! I went to Harris Teeter for lunch today. I found they have quite the selection of prepared foods and very reasonable prices, and a small coffee/dining area to set and enjoy while watching the Food Network on a flat-screen TV. The food was delicious although. I enjoyed most of what was on the salad bar. The tomato mozzarella was fantastic - the tomatoes were just ripe and full of explosive flavor. However, I wasn't a fan of the lobster and shrimp salad. It was quite fishy leading me to believe the seafood was "fake" aka monkfish. The staff was very courteous. The cashier was always smiling. The only negatives I have is, 1., they don't accept NFP payments like ApplePay, Samsung Pay, Google Wallet, etc. And, after we paid for our goodies and went to sit down, we had to wipe the table ourselves. The one representative pointed us to the towels and spray bottles instead of offering to do it for is while he had no one in his checkout line. No biggie.... We'll be back!!!! read more

I had never really been to a Harris Teeter and didn't know what to expect but I like that it reminds me of smaller scaler wegmans. I also wanted to try their store brand items to compare to giant and other stores. I tried a number of the prepared foods as well - Sushi was fresh and flavorful and affordable. Pizza was just ok, lacking on sauce. M Fried chicken got a 5 stars for grocery store chicken, family loved it! The store is open and clean looking with lots of healthy options. Might be my new go to on Saturday or Sunday mornings. I also like that they have fresh samples around the store, fruit/breads and fresh dips/pastries. I will be back but I don't understand the layout of their checkout/lines. read more

My boyfriend and I are busy medical professionals and were trying to save time by him picking up a prescription at CVS and a few gift items at Tuesday Morning while I did the shopping at Harris Teeter. His phone's battery was dead so he used mine to access the things we needed to get from both stores. After shopping at Harris Teeter I was ready to check out but my boyfriend had not returned from his errands. He also had the credit card we use for groceries and the H.T. VIC card. I searched the store for him but he was not there and I could not call him (remember, he has my phone). Desperate to find him, I leave my cart in the store (hoping to return to it when I find him) and go to the front desk to have him paged. The page is made but an employee comes to the front desk and said that the page could not be understood and to repeat the page. I wait there but the page was never repeated. Becoming more worried, I explain that I need to leave my cart in an aisle and go outside to try to find my boyfriend. I go outside, scan the parking lot and go my vehicle hoping that my boyfriend will be there or en route. Nope. No sign of him, but while looking for him I see the co-manager, Rennie sneaking in between cars in the row behind me AND THEN I SEE HER USE HER PHONE TO TAKE A PHOTO OF MY VEHICLE! I realize that she is taking a photo of my rear LICENSE PLATE with her personal cell phone! I drive up the front of the store where she stood after taking the photo, park my truck and confront her. Rennie explains that it is the "common practice for Harris Teeter employees to go out into the parking lot and photograph the activities". Confused, I asked her why it looked like she targeted my vehicle in particular? She repeated that it is a common practice of Harris Teeter to take pictures of the parking lot. I asked to see the picture that she took and she refused. After speaking into her personal intercom, another Manager, Lauren came outside and repeated that it is a common protocol to photograph the parking lot which could include vehicle's license plates. Confused, frustrated and unsatisfied with their joint explanation about how this is a 'common practice of this store,' I returned to my vehicle and continued to look for my boyfriend. My boyfriend had actually met an old college friend outside of Pascal's Chophouse and was delayed because the friend bought him a beer and he could not take it off the premises. Disgusted by the Managers (Rennie, Lauren, and Kim) and front desk staff at Harris Teeter, my boyfriend and I decided not to return to the store for the groceries. After speaking to a retired police officer, he said that these actions are not exactly illegal, BUT IT DOES RAISE SOME ISSUES ABOUT PRIVACY SINCE PERMISSION FOR THESE PHOTOS WAS NEVER OBTAINED and there is no sign posted stating that periodic surveillance photos by employees of vehicles in the parking lot would be taken. The police officer warned us of the rise of INSURANCE SCAMS where photos are taken of your vehicle in an attempt to make a claim for a vehicular crime in the future. The police officer also said that your PRIVATE INFORMATION such as your home address can be obtained from your license plate. This is concerning since you had to provide your DRIVER'S LICENSE*** at the time you apply for their VIC card. Also what if my children were there and were photographed and these photos were used for questionable exploitation? ALL employees in person and on the phone refused to answer any of my questions about how or why these photos are a 'common practice of the store' which is even more suspicious! BE WARNED! I personally, along with friends and relatives will NOT be shopping at Harris Teeter again since there are better customer centered grocery stores in the vicinity with better prices and service. In a word "pricey". Safeway is cheaper. The produce section at this store is lacking. They do not offer bagged spinach or lettuce. At least I couldn't find any. The avocado's I wanted to get were way past ripe. The other ones in bags would have taken three days to ripen. Just looking at general prices, they were at least a dollar higher for the same item you can get at Walmart. The dairy section is a bit of a mystery. I really had to search for cream cheese. Feta took me to the other side of the store. The seafood in the case looked old. The salmon and other fish seemed to be strewn in there with no real care taken. I did find it interesting that they sell lobster rolls. Check out is different. You roll the cart up to the register and the cashier empties and bags it. Nice idea, they just need to teach their people not to put raw chicken in the same bag as ground beef or other meat. On the overall, unless they have something on special that I really need, I doubt I would return. read more

What a disappointing experience at the Severna Park, MD store. My daughter-in-law ordered a themed birthday cake store for her child's birthday party. At the time she ordered the cake there were no balloons in the store to match the theme so she ordered some online. When we went to pickup the cake we took the balloons and asked to have them filled with helium (we had done this in the past). We were told they would only fill balloons that were purchased in their store due to a helium shortage. We spoke to the manager, John, who said no they couldn't fill them - again, helium shortage and corporate policy. Now, we had a $38 cake, over $100 in gift cards, and miscellaneous groceries in the cart. He could see we were paying customers, and were willing to pay for the helium. He "graciously" said he would allow one ballon to be filled. Totally ridiculous. We said no thanks and as we walked away he laughed. When the checkout staff asked if we found everything we explained the disappointing service. They seemed embarrassed (had never heard this before) and were very apologetic. So we called Giant Food. They said no problem. We took the balloons there, bought additional balloons, spending about $35. Fast, friendly service. No helium shortage. Harris Teeter - if you have a policy change clearly post it. And think about what you value most - it should be your customers. You saved a bit of helium but lost my daughter-in-law, her mother, and me as customers. read more

I had some sushi from there, and it was pretty good. I think that I like Fresh Market's sushi a little better. I had a horrible crabcake from there. It was full of filler, and it had spicy red peppers in it. It wasn't good. I don't recommend them. I think that I might stick with Fresh Market, and it's closer to home. read more

Excellent customer service abounds in this better than average grocery experience. Produce is fresh, butchers are knowledgeable (best steak in the area) and exhibit excellent customer service. Actually customer service is the name of the game. You are a person, not a number. Richard (I think that's his name), the weekday maintenance guy makes it worthwhile himself. He's given me pennies for the dragon ride for my son and has loaded the groceries in my car so I can attend to my son. He is the best commodity that store has. I just bought some prepackaged stuffed salmon from the seafood counter the other day. When I went to cook it, it smelled way too fishy for salmon when I opened the container. I went ahead and cooked it anyway and it made our whole place smell horrible that my husband felt nauseas. We didnt want to chance getting sick so I just threw it away. This really bummed me out because I love Harris Teeter. But I know for a fact that salmon wasnt packaged that same day, like it said on the package. read more

When I see packages of what look like Alaskan Snow Crab Leg in plastic containers right below the case of Alaskan Snow Crab legs in the shell and I ask Keith behind the counter if they are shelled Alaskan Snow Crab legs and he says "Yes" and I buy them, only to find out after I have prepared the whole first part of my dish that they are FAKE crab legs, I tend to get more than a little upset. This is definitely the nicest supermarket in the area with the best selection! Lots of organic and healthy options that you won't find anywhere else. The customer service has been great every time I've been! I like not having to put my groceries up on the conveyor belt. It's also fantastic that this is a 24/7 store. The only "negative" thing is that it's a bit pricy. I tend to do most of my essentials grocery shopping at Target or Walmart, then come here for specialty items. I used the call ahead to order 1 whole cold cut at 5:23. The next time for pu was 5:45. I arrived at 5:38 only 1 person being waited on by a girl and the guy Garth was at the sink. Someone pulled my ticket and stuck it on the glass I guess to make the buzzer stop singing. Garth went to make my sandwich but immediately had an attitude and ripped the ticket off really hard. I told him he clearly didn't want to make it so I said I didn't want it. I went to get a manager who then got the pizza girl Mandy to make my sandwich. It was so evident that the blind had something to say to Mandy bc I watched her roll her eyes at whatever verbally transpired. I asked her why she rolled her eyes and she was just silent. The whole time the manager just stood there and never once apologized for any other to say "your order was to be picked up at 5:45" since the the ticket was just sitting there meant no one felt like making it. I have been a customer way before thus store opened and I even have Harris Teeter credit card. I will not be returning to this store and I will not be using that credit card again. Very nice grocery store. They have samples which makes me happy. You'd think the produce would be better but it's not. The fact of the matter is that this stores prices are too high. I might go there for something special but this won't be my weekly grocery store.
