Barrel Racing Arena

We drove to Kerrville from San Antonio to visit the renaissance festival on opening day. While there it was suggested that we go to gravity check for lunch in order to get a good burger and beer. Upon arriving to gravity check the parking lot was fairly empty, but we were impressed with the expansive area within the restaurant. You could look out the back of the restaurant to watch barrel, racing practice and other horse riding activities, which was very nice. We were able to see ourselves, so we picked a spot with a view and we're quickly helped by our waitress. We ordered: - Dos Equis Dressed: Freshly tapped, paired well with the food - Spicy Fried Pickles: Not overly spicy but still provided a good kick and paired well with the ranch - Fried Mushrooms: Super fresh and delicious - Gator Po Boy: first time trying gator. Tasted good and had an interesting flavor to it. Was served with a Cajun remoulade sauce edict really brought some heat - Ranchers Choice Burger: very tasty! The egg was a bit overcooked (not over-easy) but was otherwise perfect I also want to note how friendly and helpful our server was. She hustled from table to table and kept everyone smiling- request Yaya! We would definitely come back! Great experience overall!

I came here for lunch today to try it out. I passed it on my way in to Kerrville for a much needed camping getaway at Kerrville Schreiner Park. That evening, I went to my usual spot and asked about this place. I learned that the former manager was now working here. I wasn't sure they had food, so I messaged them. The menu is still in the development stage, so they haven't put it online. It is about 8 miles from the park, so I won't be drinking many beers when I come here. They have about 8 beers on tap. It is a fairly well-rounded grouping. I would like to see at least one porter or stout, but this is not a place designed for craft beer enthusiasts. I ordered the Gravity Check burger with cheese and bacon. It was good. The meat was tasty and had just enough juiciness to please me. They put huge thick slices of a kosher-like pickle on it. I don't like pickles on my burger, but I like to eat them on the side. These were really good. They provide condiments (all Hellman's) on the table. If you have read my other reviews, you know I am not a fan of the skinny little fries. The ones served today were skinny and really crunchy. Next time, I'll go for onion rings. The venue is a huge Texas dance hall type of place. They have lots of tables. There is an arena in the back where they have some kind of rodeo-like events sometimes. That seems like it would be fun. The service here is great. I knew to expect that, with the manager I mentioned at the top of this review managing here. I will definitely come back here in the future.

Great food, drinks, entertainment... and most of all... STAFF!!! Come here at least once a week and always have a good time.

This was our first time back to the Pinnacle in a few years…read more On the surface, not much has changed, the same outstanding views, same dining area but now it has an interesting menu. Sway was our server and did a great job, efficiently and with his friendly and engaging personality. The drinks, the Segura Brut Cava and the Lagunitas IPA, came quickly and we then went to the mains. My first choice main was the Spare Rib with mashers and Deb's the Chicken Fried Wagyu but unfortunately they were out of the CFW and instead she went with the Fish and Chips. Well, the mains were both excellent......both the Fish and the Chips were crisp and not greasy and accompanied by 2 sauces and a vinegar! The Spare Rib was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes and accompanying sauce was perfect. We had settled on splitting a dessert, the Carrot Cake, but they were out of it so we settled on the Bourbon Pecan Pie....Wow! It was excellent. All in all, a very pleasant meal with good food and excellent service by Sway and the team. We will be back :) !!! Be aware they do add an 18pct service charge.

This time we decided to try something different and we are so glad we did. The pork chop was so juicy with just the right amount of smokiness. My husband had the redfish pontchartrain and was blown away. Our cocktails were refreshing. Our wine suggested by Julianna was so buttery smooth. Kudos to the chef Roman and sous chef Ian. We may have to make this a biyearly road trip just to stop in. Oh and the view. Thank you so much Julianna for everything. Our evening was wonderful.

The outside has very little parking and looks like a little place that you may see in one of those small towns on the side of the road (wait, Center Point is a small town, LOL). When entering the establishment, visitors will find they can purchase a host of tchotchkes. After passing this area, visitors are met with a bar area and beyond that, an open outdoor seating area. While many reviewers describe the outdoors akin to stepping into the Caribbean, I describe it as a place that would make the late great Jimmy Buffett proud. When we sat at our table, we were greeted by the owner who struck up a conversation with my guest and Thing Two and handed us menus. We ordered a few things to include Queso with chips (meat added), chili cheese fries, two fish tacos, and a half order of sweet potato fries. Tilapia Fish Tacos Tilapia is not my favorite fish. However, it is often used at U.S. taco shops and trucks because of its price point. These can be a sustainable choice, for sure, but the filets can have a murky, muddy flavor that's best covered up with lots of vibrant toppings. These tacos were okay but not terrible. The pico for the tacos is actually what saved these tacos. Chili Cheese Fries Generally, chili fries are the perfect appetizer. Whether you get them at a Sonic drive-in or at a BBQ restaurant, cheesy fries coated in meaty chili are a combo that you just can't get wrong. However, these cheese fries were frozen from the bag fries and accompanied by what seemed to be a type of canned chili. After samping the tacos, I didn't expect this dish to be any more than the tacos (bar food quality). Overall, the service was pleasant and the rating given here is more for the customer service rendered as opposed to the food. The food is dive bar quality, but the atmosphere and service are far better than the food.

Anyway, it was a glorious day after 3 days of good soaking rain, which we badly needed in the hill country. The food has always been top notch grade here. The service is very efficient and professional. As for the ambience, the inside is bright and well lighted but to be impressed, you have to go outside. Since it was a glorious day of bright sunshine, coolish temperature and a very friendly breeze blowing, we had a time walking around the area. The surrounding area was lush and very green after the few days of rain! We had a lovely time taking pictures. My brother in law was very surprised about the camel story behind Camp Verde. Camels were used as experimental animals to carry provisions in the 1850's. They were stationed in this area. Unfortunately, the experiment failed because the soldiers hated the camels, who had a reportedly nasty disposition and soldiers ended up with motion sickness because of the animal's unusual walking gait. If you want to visit the area, now is a good time before the summer heat gets here. FYI, if you like Christmas, the gift shop here gets an early start in October! If you like Christmas decorations like my wife, come here and shop. They really fill up the gift shop with goodies!
