The Gray Line Tours Nashville City Tour is a one hour tour showcasing the City of Nashville. The double decker bus departs from and arrives at the Riverfront Station at the end of Broadway. On June 26 at 1:00 pm; we experienced this tour. With an AAA discount, the ticket came out to around $33. Cory was our Tour Guide and Leonard was our driver. To get in some nice photos of Nashville, I sat at the top right side of the bus. Regardless that it was brutally hot and humid on this Nashville summer day, it was worth the sweat for the pictures. Here is a tip: facing the windshield, I recommend sitting on the right side of the bus. There were only two points of interest where the tour paused to get a stationary look at an attraction. That was at the Parthenon and The Tennessee State Capitol. Both were on the right. The tour started out following the Cumberland River. An advantage Gray Line has over it's competitor: the Nashville Trolly, is that it crosses over the Cumberland River via the Woodland Street Bridge. From this perspective the tour brought us closer to Nissan Stadium and the future Nissan Stadium. By means of the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge, it brought us back to Downtown Nashville. Two disadvantages Gray Line has over it's competitor: the Nashville Trolly, are 1) it does not let you get on and off and 2) it bypasses The Gulch and Music Row. Throughout the tour, Cory narrated with an encyclopedic knowledge of information relating to the attractions and City of Nashville. He was willing to answer our questions about where to eat and so on. Due to the fact that there is a Yelp character limit, here is a list of some of the highlights: 1. Fort Nashborough 2. Nissan Stadium 3. Murals 4. AT&T Building 5. Ascend Amphitheatre 6. Music City Center 7. Stix Traffic Circle 8. Custom's House 9. Academy High School 10. Vanderbilt University 11. I had someone in town who wanted to do the tourist thing. They wanted to do the celebrity homes tour. The homes & details were good/nice, but the issue was the tour guide Julie. She was asking people some super invasive, personal questions from the speaker & expected people to answer loudly for the whole bus to hear and it led to some very awkward moments for those people. If someone else wanted to go on this tour when visiting, I'd take them, but I'd choose a different tour guide. read more

The bus was comfortable, clean and spacious. You had an option of inside or on top. We chose on top. It started out a bit warm, 84 degrees, 77% humidity felt like 87. However, once we made our way through the Broadway drag and the street name changed, we picked up speed and caught a breeze. Our grandson enjoyed being on n the sun and actually went to sleep. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, informative, dry humor, but she was perfect for us. We weren't looking for anything spectacular. 5/25/24 9am FRIDAY First time in Nashville this Memorial Day Weekend. We've done these types of tours and it gives us a nice overview of the area before diving in. While there were many interesting points of interest throughout the hour long tour, the narration ties everything together. The fun and interesting facts that the guide gave about Vanderbilt University, the Parthenon , The Frist Museum, restaurants etc. made it memorable. The approximately $40/pp made it a reasonable option. Military discount was given but you won't get it if you order tickets online. read more

4.5 stars Cute little bus and we had great tour guides. Make sure you call ahead of time, as we arrived between 12:30 and 1 and only the 3 o'clock tour still had seats available. (P.S. military get complimentary tours vs. the $40 for the open air tour). We took the double decker bus tour of Nashville and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide, Corey, was very informative and entertaining. The bus itself was clean and comfortable. The stairs to access the top level were narrow, but there were plenty of handholds to make getting up and down easier. This review is for the "Best of Nashville City Sightseeing tour on a double decker bus" Even though the bus appears to be very large, the downstairs is small and our party of three was unable to sit together because there are so few seats. Also, since the guide was upstairs and we were downstairs, we could not hear most of what he was saying. Recently took the Best of Nashville City Sightseeing tour on a double decker bus booked through Viator/trip advisor. It was just OK. Seemed like an expensive concierge service of the broadway area on the bars to go to, how long to walk between some museums near broadway, even though the tour does go out of the Broadway area. Just felt thin on substance on the city on whole. The tour also started late, which was an issue since parking near by is pretty expensive and it is tricky when you try to account for additional time up front and the tour runs beyond the expectations and timing communicated for boarding 15 mins before tour time. read more

This is a great way to see a lot of Nashville. We were in town with a group of girls and got the two day pass so we were able to hop on and hop off at lots of different areas at our leisure. Most of the guides were very knowledgeable and gave us cool information about the sights we were seeing and they often provided humorous commentary about Nashville in general. (We did have one grumpy guide who shushed our group, and not in a very polite way.). I think they should definitely go with headphones like some of the other tour companies use. That way if you are talking no one else will hear you. I also wish that they had the double-decker buses that are open air on top like some of the other companies in other cities use. (It's great to sit up on top on a beautiful day, and it's also much much better for taking photographs......wish Grayline had them.) We had purchased the sightseeing passes and we used this as one of our attractions. It really is a great way to see many different sights, get background info, and move around the city. I probably would have given 4 stars; however one bus broke down when one of our group members was on it and all the passengers got kicked off the bus. She then had to catch an Uber to go back to the hotel. I don't know why they could not just send another bus to replace that one, but that was our only negative experience. read more

Our trolley driver was mostly on topic for the earlier part of our tour but then as the tour went on and people started rudely engaging in conversations that interrupted him, he went off on them angrily and asked do you wanna listen to the tour or not!? Then later on he went on a political rant that involved stereotypical, misogynistic, and racially charged comments, then said he doesn't like to talk about politics and religion. "Women don't like antique cars!" Then he went off the rails again on corporal punishment in schools. "Back when I was a kid..." type of stories that ended with "Now you're not allowed to touch them!" It got a bit absurd I had to start getting some audio. He went off topic a couple more times. A few hours later when we got back on the trolley, we encountered him again as driver but not as tour guide---someone else (or maybe several others) must have complained (wasn't me) and there was now a person of color seated up front with a microphone who was leading the tour (Yuraya?) while the mean-spirited driver just drove in silence. I gave 2 stars because the replacement tour guide was friendly and funny, and so was Gigi, super energetic and engaging with us the way that riders feel comfortable and included. read more

Memphis day ELVIS & SUN RECORDS excursion review: Graceland is a great attraction that everyone should experience at least once. We had the VIP tickets which reduced our time standing in line; if you could afford it, I would spring for it. We were at Graceland from 10:15AM - 3:00pm; coach operator said that he was leaving at 3PM sharp. We were not that interested in seeing everything else after checking car collection; we are sure the King had more vehicles, we stopped the tour at Glady's Diner at 1:30pm which gave us a whole hour and fifteen minute to sit idle onsite to have some bottled beers and sodas. We were then taken to the short tour at a Sun Records, a big must if you're a fan of music; they didn't go in to the history of the Delta Blues however just the beginning and history of the Record store. For this tour, we were only allotted 2 hours to spend on Beale Street; with how busy everything is on Saturdays, I don't think that was enough time to experience REAL MEMPHIS; - National Civil Rights Museum -Stax Records -Trolley -BB King Company Store -Memphis Zoo -Rock N' Soul Museum -Slave Haven Museum -Memphis Botanic Garden -Crystal Shine Grotto -Peabody Ducks [actually see the ducks because people like to 'early duck' in the lobby] Chances were with how saturated the crowds were, there was a HIGH chance we could even wait to eat Memphis BBQ at a proper restaurant. We grabbed it to go and it took 40 minutes before pickup [1hour and 20 minutes remaining] If you were interested in seeing THE MAJORITY OF THAT LIST I would suggest the Greyhound one way staying 1-2 nights in DOWNTOWN Memphis and the Greyhound back. read more

We took three tours in Nashville. Two Gray Line tours and one Hop On Hop Off Trolley tour. If you only take one tour while in town take the Discover Nashville tour. It was by far the best tour of the city and our trolley driver was very knowledgeable. He mentioned the education he needed to learn about the city. We appreciated learning about the city. Also, it was nice getting off at the Ryman and the Country Music Hall of Fame was nice as well. The time allotted at both places was perfect. There's a good taco stand inside the CM HOF as well. The tour was the stars home was nice but we enjoyed the historical tour better. The hop on hop off trolley tour was nice but your experience is as good as the trolley driver as you get a different driver every time you hop back on. It's nice that you can get off at different locations. We enjoyed the Parthenon but when we were done with our visit we had to stand in a rainstorm to wait for the trolley and since the trolley stop before the Parthenon is the Marathon Motor Works and it's the most popular that means the trolley is full and you are lucky to get on. Only four were allowed to get on so many of us ran to seek shelter under the Parthenon until the lightening and storm settled down. We called a Lyft to pick us up. read more

We purchased our tickets from Viator Tours. This is a 3 1/2 hour mini bus tour operated by Gray Line Tours. The tour includes the Ryman Theater, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and City of Nashville. Our driver/tour guide Roy is very knowledgeable and has a friendly personality. Roy provided detailed information of the buildings, famous people and the history of Nashville. The amount of time allocated for the Ryman Theater was sufficient. However more time should be allowed for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This place is on two large floors and contains a vast amount of material. This tour begins at the railroad station in Downtown. There is no free parking in the area and the private lots are expensive. It would be helpful to have parking information listed as part of the tour reservation material. We were fortunate to get parking information from a person at the railroad station. He advised of which of the three nearby parking lots was the least expensive. We chose a parking garage one block away and the cost was $21.90 for the duration of the tour. read more

I enjoyed this tour...Gigi was our tour guide and she was delightful! I was a bit disappointed by what she chose to narrate...we learned more about dirty kitchens and food than any history of Nashville. She did cover some but I found myself googling things as we were driving so I knew what I was looking at. I did ask a few questions and she was very knowledgeable and was able to easily answer; I just think she preferred to talk about the food scene. Maybe she should guide a food tour? Despite the fact that I would have liked to have learned more about the history and culture of the area, I would recommend. Great stops along the way, very convenient. read more

We rented trolley for our daughters wedding day. The trolley was carrying the bride, bridesmaids, mothers and photographer to the venue when this occurred. Needless to say, not the ride we expected! We covered Belle Meade, Franklin, Brentwood, Nashville and the entire time our full of life guide kept us informed and laughing. What a super personality. We chose this particular tour because of my in-laws mobility issues and love of seeing how the rich and famous live. To be honest, I didn't go thinking I would enjoy it - I too loved every minute and all thanks to Lee. The bus was clean, the seats in excellent condition and the steps into the van, easy to navigate. Are you kidding me? The first bus we boarded had equipment that didn't work. We had to wait down by the Riverwalk for 30-minutes for a replacement bus. The replacement bus arrived and it was something out of an episode of Sanford and Son! The bus has more squeals and whines than my wife during childbirth. I'm sure the nice areas of Nashville are less than excited about these tours anyway and here we go in this bucket of bolts. Oh yeah...did I forget the part about the replacement bus being delivered without gas in the tank? I was prepared for the driver to pass the hat for gas money. When I called the main number during the first delay I could not have asked for a less empathetic and less customer focused employee in Betsy. If I wanted a refund I would have to return to the place of purchase the prior day. This was several blocks away. Was I offered transport back to my hotel? Nope...hit the bricks pal to make the 5 block journey for the refund and another 6 blocks to the hotel. This lady would be better served with a job that requires no customer interaction. They get 1 star because our tour guide Lee seemed to be a nice guy and fairly knowledgeable of the area. I wasted $100 on these 2 tickets. I would have been better off with a rental car and a map! read more

Horrible staff at downtown Nashville. They are renting space in a Federal building and they allow no one to Use the bathrooms inside the federal building owned by the people. I sat out side the entrance for 1 hour waiting for the tour at 11:00 in the morning. An elderly gentleman asked to use the restroom and was denied since he did not have a ticket, then a mom with a 2 year old was denied. The staff is rude and nasty. Not true Tennesseians. I only took this tour since the hop on and hop off bus was closed for the day. Definitely avoid these people. Especially James the security guard. read more

Started off rough. Had to wait almost an hour before we got picked up at stop 15. However, I feel that we truly got our money's worth in the end. The tours were interesting and we learned many interesting facts. Each guide had new facts! Some outstanding guides we had were Cheryl and Steve. THERE WERE MANY MORE GREAT ONES BUT I JUST CANT REMEMBER THE NAMES! This definitely helped us get around town. The seats on the buses were not very comfortable. It's like sitting on a park bench. I also wish the windows opened more consistently. Depending on the weather, having the windows opened made a huge difference. We were able to tack on 3 additional attractions all at a discount through them as well! Overall was a good deal. read more

They only have a few handicapped trolleys so they weren't able to accommodate my family. And then when the one handicapped trolley came by the lift was locked so getting on was difficult. This is inexcusable! We were lucky we were able but not everyone would have been able to in the end. We weren't offered any type of compensation which is just rude! And the tour guide was so boring! read more
