The menu is large and also includes smoothies. Parking lot for a few spaces, across the street and behind the building. No seating that I saw inside or out. The new owners of Gray's Daily Grind have done a fantastic job since taking over. The café is warm, welcoming, and brings a wonderful buzz to the village, while The Coop trailer across the street is both charming and smart. One of the best morning outings in Westport is stopping at Gray's and The Coop, then walking over to the Westport Land Conservation Trust trails. First time here, I saw the door open early in the morning. With nobody there I was able to get a few recommendations before finding one of the special/seasonal drinks fit what I was craving. Tasted good, the oat milk and espresso was a good combination. It was priced slightly high but I felt alright with the size of the medium. I had also purchased a pistachio muffin. It was soft and fresh and paired perfectly with the drink. Overall it was pretty quick and efficient. I love the little area down in Westport. The ladies there were very sweet, gave me a good idea of what was on the menu. I will go back and make another review on something else. read more

This review has nothing to do with the aesthetic. I love what the owners have done with the place. This rating solely has to do with the customer service and coffee quality this summer. First, the only way to describe the service here is miserable. The workers clearly do not care about you or your experience at their shop. No smiling faces, no hello, just straight to business. I've worked years in customer service and have gone to countless places and time and time again I'm disappointed and dumbfounded by Gray's lack of friendliness. For example, I had come here for the first time this summer a few weeks ago, I had dropped my drink and one of the employees (who is working there usually) threw me one of his dirty towels they use to clean the steamer and walked away. I cleaned it up, because it was a mistake I had made, but no offer of help or if I wanted a new drink (I hadn't even taken a sip yet) was given. I decided not to write a review that time, and hoped maybe this was just a bad day for him and the business (I get it, we've all been there). But then today, I was once again treated like the customers walking in are the employees source of misery. Now, the coffee. This visit -- the first coffee I actually got to drink this summer -- was watered down and warm with approximately two ice cubes for an "iced latte" and a whopping $9 dollars and some change. I'm very disappointed with these past visits and I'm not the type to write a review, but I feel like constructive criticism is necessary for this shop. I used to love this place and had been a frequent flyer years prior, now I don't think I'll return. I hope they can improve. read more

Always a good cup of coffee! Grays offers fun and innovative monthly specials. There are a few seats available inside but outside is set up like a cozy patio and perfect on those spring/summer days. Lots of parking including a parking lot across the street. There are also park benches, tables, chairs along a small pond. Dogs are always welcome which is a plus! read more

My favorite coffee shop in Little Compton/Tiverton. Prices are on the higher side but I find the coffee to be tasty enough to back it up. The food is delicious as well. Definitely try the pistachio muffins. The service is generally pretty friendly, and I've never had a rude barista. Ample outdoor seating makes this a relaxing place to hang out with your friends, though with no Wi-Fi don't expect to do any work here. The only coffee shop that comes close is Coastal Roasters in Tiverton. Their coffee is a better value but not quite as good. I prefer this place over the Art Cafe (better coffee) and Groundswell (better prices). read more

Grays has been my favorite place to wake up and get coffee at during my summer months living in Westport. The charm the place had fit the area and everyone loved it. Unfortunately, it has undergone new owners and the charm it once had has been lost to the new aesthetic that every other coffee shop has. The quality and taste of the coffee has also left. I was going to visit a friend in Little Compton in this place popped up on my GPS... I stopped in to grab a coffee and the places super cool. There were two young girls working and when I looked at the girl and kind of shrugged and said, do you have Just coffee? She laughed and pointed to the board because it actually said "just coffee " amongst all the other fancy coffee drinks... The coffee was fantastic. The pistachio muffin was really good. We stumbled on this gem by accident. We spend weekends at our cottage in Portsmouth but are always exploring the joys of back roads in RI. It's on the other side of the road from a lively pond with weathered seating. We walked in to a small coffee shop but a huge selection of coffee and flavor choices. Lauren greeted us the way I love. I told her my coffee choice was dealer's choice. She made me an iced coffee with maple flavoring, cream and cinnamon. So great. My Irene had a regular coffee from their serve yourself area. Gray's uses the coffee beans roasted locally from Coastal Roasters in Tiverton, Rhode Island... so the coffee quality is top notch! Gray's has an extensive specialty drink menu that changes every season, and includes every drink you could possibly imagine - coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, milkshakes, bubble teas, matcha, and the best cold brew... just to name a few! They also offer baked good items from other local businesses in New England - including scones, donuts, cookies and more! Their menu is creative, and you can't go wrong with anything you buy. The prices are on the more expensive end for coffee... but I think it's totally worth it! That is when we discovered that Gray's Daily Grind has Knead donuts and will do curbside delivery of coffee and donuts. Curbside was the way to go to beat the line to get in. Pulled up and in no time we were parked across the street enjoying our donuts by the water. I really enjoyed the chocolate chip donut and would definitely get that one again. After a great hike through Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary, we were in the mood for a good cup of coffee and landed on checking out Gray's Daily Grind. A really impressive menu complete with Knead's Donuts (can't wait to visit again to take advantage of that!) but for us it was just a couple of iced coffee beverages. Located within an old, historic grist mill, there is a walk-up window where you can place your order and then move to another window for pickup. I opted for the honey maple iced coffee which was flavorful and nuanced and certainly hit the spot post-hike. The Mrs. opted for the iced caramel pumpkin latte with skim milk which tasted like a dessert and was the quintessential fall drink. Both were very well done! Definitely will be checking out Gray's Daily Grind again when back in Westport. Highly recommend! read more

Today we put an order in online for curbside pickup which worked out fantastic as the line was pretty big when we arrived and they immediately brought out our stuff! We were able to get Knead's famous donuts! I had a Vanilla Old Fashion and a Chocolate Chip Old Fashion and I have to say that the Chocolate Chip won by far! Super cute little coffee shop! Small parking lot, but there's a big lot with extra space across the road. They post fun and creative seasonal drink menus with great flavors. When I was there, they had a bunch of seasonal cold foams, including maple, salted caramel, and pumpkin for fall/Halloween. Both the cold brew and iced tea that I tried were delicious! Super customizable menu with lots of different syrups and flavors, including some less common ones like rose and lavender. Staff was kind and friendly, service was super quick. Stop here and buy Johny Cake mix. It is the only place I know of to buy this particular form of ground corn meal. Johny cakes of this variation are unique to the area. If a pancake and grits, had a baby it would be a Johny cake. Yum! If you go at the right time, the miller will explain the history, process, and bred of corn (Rhode Island White Cap Flint corn). Or maybe they don't care and are mozying around which I guess is ok... but it's slow as slow can be. Great cpffee and egg items, I would suggest you go, wait in line forever, order then return later in like 20 min when items then may be ready....20 line, 20 wait for drinks and then no one really caring about that...again prob the case just as a customer beware. Smoothies not great, some are ice cream not healthy, fine but then the ones without were icey (got a bunch and legit none were decent, no one liked any). And bagels: no idea where from but like if you bought bagels in a bagel pack at grocery level, kinda hard, crumbly and like normal bread. Put it this way, Pepperidge Farm store bought would be a pure amazing success in comp to whatever these are. I'd say get an iced coffee as a pit stop. or hot regular coffee early on way out of town... (or better yet make your own) / this is a bummer because I want to love it here, great place and concept but needs some TLC. anyway it's slow, food not really an option, so-plan accordingly...smoothies and food elsewhere for sure. read more

Gray's has some of the most unique and delicious drinks I've ever seen. It's a standout among many cafés in Rhode Island. There are drinks here you can't get anywhere else. This is a great place to get a coffee, tea, or some other beverage. And you can even enjoy it outdoors with a great view of the pond. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about the area if you're an out-of-towner. My only gripe about the place is that they won't let you use the bathroom there, which I didn't think was legal, tbh. I thought paying customers should be provided a restroom, but whatever. It wasn't worth making a stink about, but it's something to be mindful of if you purchase a beverage there. If your bladder has a low capacity, just don't hang around too long, or you'll be SOL (and very uncomfortable) when nature calls. read more

As someone (MB) mentioned, there are new owners, and they are the nicest people. They were customers for years. With that said, EVERYTHING stayed the same including the employees. They kept the same baristas and the same coffee. So no, the coffee doesn't taste different and no, your friend didn't notice a change either. Stop the lies! They made some physical changes within the coffee shop to allow more room. Also, they are cleaning up the back area for people to hang out. Ok, so I wanted to give this shop another chance. My last few visits left a lot to be desired, so I went by today for another try. I purchased a basic hot coffee with a flavor, cream, and a pastry. I was handed a cup with the flavor and the employee put a metal whisk down on the not clean looking counter beside the cash register. He told to pour it myself and stir it in with the cream at a side counter then went about his business. So I now what am I supposed to do with a dirty whisk? So I put it back on the counter. Pastry was wrapped in plastic wrap and was quite obviously not fresh at all. Not sure how old it was, but it was sad and not good at all. Seems as if they are not selling enough pasty to keep it fresh, and they definitely need to pay closer attention to how stale it is before selling it to customers, especially for the high price they charge. And the coffee. Well, I didn't finish it. It tasted like warm slightly coffee flavored water. It had no color to it and my impression is that it was extremely weak. I wish I had better experiences here as I love to support local businesses, especially coffee shops the quality just isn't here. read more

Very quaint but odd experience. I ordered a latte and was handed a cup with syrup and a carton of oatmilk. I was confused but poured the milk and handed it back. I was pointed to a counter and told to choose my coffee from a variety of roasts. I handed the cup back again expecting to finish the process of a latte (froth/steamed milk) but instead told I was all set. I regularly go here, and it's always a great experience. The drinks and pastries are delicious!! I love trying their seasonal drinks, which are always changing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I need non-dairy alternatives in my coffee and tea, and they recommend I try oat milk, which I'd never had before. I loved it, and now I ask for that wherever I go. They did an excellent job handling the Covid situation by opening up a takeout window. Grays is worth a visit for many reasons, but the creme brûlée latte is the only one I need. A little coffee shop right by some small parks, the food is quite good but the coffee beverages are really where Grays shines - there are great flavors that many coffee shops don't have, and it's all excellently done. This darling spot in Adamsville Rhode Island evidently has a new owner. It has been stripped down to bare bones and much of the charm that was the old place is gone. They have stopped stocking Knead donuts and they don't carry the Illuminated Oven products any longer, which is a shame. The coffee is not as good and they are always "out of" key ingredients for other things, like protein powder and yogurt for smoothies: a staffer said they "can't get" frozen yogurt (hey, yes you can). The smoothies are over the top sugary as are most of the other blended drinks. Seems like the new owners might not be food people. Groundswell in Tiverton is not that much farther away and is a much better option for healthy food, delicious coffee and a wonderful atmosphere. Sorry Grays, you lost it. read more

I want to love this place, I really do. It has so much potential. Pros: 1.) Location. You are out in the middle of nowhere and there is GOOD coffee around. Some seating outside and across the street by the pond is perfect for a nice day. 2.) Product. They use Coastal Roaster coffee which is roasted right in Tiverton, RI and it is great quality. Also love that their drinks use local Tiverton, RI milk from Arruda's Dairy Farm (coffee milk, chocolate milk, vanilla milk, yum!) 3.) Ambiance. This place is refreshingly cute inside. It's welcoming.4.) Gear. They sell pretty awesome travel mugs and other souvenirs with the Rhode Island Red. Cool gifts! So what's the problem? Cons: 1.) Pricing. It is much more expensive than other nearby places. The Mind Grind is their famous espresso drink. Ordered a medium iced mocha mind grind (24oz. Espresso, coffee milk and chocolate sauce and it was $6.50!!!!). It is delicious, but not that delicious. Also regular and iced coffee plain isn't too much more than standard pricing but flavor syrups are extra. 2.) Baristas. They aren't that friendly at all and make you feel a little unwelcome and unwanted. I do not live in Westport or Little Compton but I am there 2/3 days a week. I can't imagine how tourists would feel stepping in there. So moral of the review. Delicious local products, really pricey, and not friendly service. read more

Two words: BUBBLE TEA. It's not the Tapioca and Milk Tea kind, but it's iced tea and little jelly bubbles and it's really good. They are still open during Covid, and they have really good, safe service. They also have smoothies, coffee, hot cocoa, a bunch of other drinks, scones, bagels, danishes, and on every Saturday they have donuts.
