Typically my grandparents or mother make the trek to Fall River to pick up their fresh made bread, spinach and meat pies, but today I volunteered to make the drive there myself. While the building is large, the 'shop area' is small, consisting of an L shaped counter, a few shelves with some pantry staples, and two refrigerated cases with beverages, yogurt, and cheeses. There was a steady stream of foot traffic while I was there, people mostly popping in to get a few pies for lunch or stocking up on bread. The line moved quickly and efficiently and we were in and out in no time at all. Their pricing is reasonable and the quality of the food is excellent. We spent just about $100 today, but came home with dozens of spinach and meat pies to share and enough bread to stock our freezer for a few weeks. Definitely worth the drive. Pro tip: order one day ahead for 'party size' spinach and meat pies - a smaller version of their traditional pies - which are perfect for any party or family get together.

Walking into Duke's as someone who eats gluten free felt like being a kid in a toy store on Christmas morning. So many incredible options! Even better, there were plenty of soy-free choices for me and dairy-free options for my friend Taylor. Finding a bakery that makes dietary restrictions feel exciting instead of limiting is such a gift. The iced coffee hit the spot, and our Belgian waffle and breakfast sandwich were absolutely delicious. Before leaving, I couldn't resist taking home two of their take-and-bake calzones (and they did not disappoint!) They're huge, packed with flavor and perfect to have on hand. Whatever kind of allergy you have, they have you covered! & every single item here is gluten free! For coffee, I had an iced coffee with banana syrup and almond milk. For breakfast I did a breakfast sandwich. I had a fried egg on a dairy free roll with dairy free Gouda and vegan sausage. It's so good! My friends had a breakfast wrap that came with injectable cheese and they had a waffle taco type thing that was a riff on tiramisu. I tried the waffle where there was no topping and it was great! You would never know it was gluten free! As someone who is very lactose intolerant, I obviously left with pastries. I can't wait to come back and try more things!! If you have an allergy and don't want to skimp on flavor and still want to indulge in something decadent, come here! They have a really big parking lot and share with Barrett's.
