First time there today: I brought in a government vehicle for a brake light (we can't do even basic maintenance ourselves) and these guys got right on it and had me in and out of there in 15 minutes, earlier than their 20 minute estimate. They were super friendly on the phone before I came (I've had issues with other places not answering the phone - or being rude) - as well as when I came in and checked out for service. When I moved from Seattle to Denver I had a bit of anxiety about where to take my car for routine service. Much to my surprise, I was happy to discover Denver also has Grease Monkey's. I always take my car to this location for oil changes and have never had an issue. They even noticed a leak in my front brakes after I had taken it to Les Schwab for new tires and brakes. The mechanic took me below the car and showed me the leak too, so I knew it wasn't BS. They charge you fairly and don't try to add on unnecessary services. read more

Even though I live closer to the Grease Monkey on Colfax, I ended up at this one purely because I was on this end of town when I realized I was very overdue for an oil change and there was no line. The actual visit wasn't half bad, they were efficient and courteous and didn't try to talk me into anything. The unfortunate part was that they accidentally closed my hood in such a way that the prop to hold it up got stuck behind the head light in my car. This on its own would not warrant the bad review, as I said, it was an accident. But I had to return to the shop to have them fix it, because I couldn't open my headlight (my car is old and has the lights that flip up and go down). When I did go back they denied the entire thing, told me that I had obviously put the prop in the wrong place all the ten years that I've owned it and accused me of not understanding how the prop could actually kill my battery (even though the prop was in the same place for a good twenty years at this point.). Basically they treated me like an idiot because no one there wanted to admit to doing something stupid and I'm female, so I obviously don't know anything about my car. That I've had for ten years. The dumb part was that this didn't cause any real damage, the prop was just wedged in the headlight. There was no reason to be so defensive and point all those fingers. All they had to do was get it out and send me home. read more

This place is OIL CHANGE ONLY. I learned the hard way. Can you afford to be ripped up financially, combined with mediocre and dishonest service? I can't. Rating for oil change: 4 stars. Everything else: 2 stars. Therefore I'm rating my experience at 3 stars for the experience overall. I used to love Grease Monkey, great, quick prompt service. Turns out they are only good for cleaning your windshield and changing your oil. The Good: Free coffee, AC waiting area, cookies, very polite staff. When I drove in I was promptly greeted by a courteous Grease Monkey Tech. When I left, they opened the door to my car and again, very courteous. A basic oil change for 42.99$ is not outrageous. The Bad: I happen to be the car owner who owns a vehicle that will get transmission maintenance for the lifetime of the car. Meaning, the transmission was flushed on my Sienna, at a about 55k and I have committed to be diligent about transmission flushes and drains. Every 20K-30K I will probably do a transmission drain and fill. At this point, 86K, I decided that a torque flush would work best with since the transmission, inmho is probably robust enough to handle a flush. So I SPECIFICALLY asked for a Torque flush, which runs at high speed and pressure and they did not do a torque flush!!! When I asked about it, the shop tech in charge told me that he did not want to deal with setting up the torque machine because it was a hassle with the adapters and taking the machine out was also a hassle. So they have a torque flush machine and they don't even use it? Even when it was specifically requested by the customer? Instead, they rigged up hoses to their air pressure system, which is WAY weaker, and did a flush. I asked again about the torque flush, and at this point, the shop tech started to tell me that it would be bad for the vehicle, because it can loosen rubber gaskets, etc. Yes, a torque flush is strong, but I preferred that, at this point, because I think my Sienna Transmission is well maintained, and the interior is robust enough to handle a high pressure torque flush.The reality is, he was lazy, and did not want to set up the machine. Regardless, they charged me 130 dollars for a flush, which is typical, but they didn't actually "flush" the transmission, with the power of a torque flush machine which is what I thought I was paying for in the first place!! Also Bad: "The Air Filter gimmick" If you are sitting there at Grease Monkey and they show you your air filter and tell you it's due to be changed DON'T DO IT. Instead, go on Amazon, and buy a filter for $15 and install yourself (takes seconds), YouTube instructions abound. They got me! They showed me my dirty air filter and asked to changed it out. How much? 39 Dollars! For me to put in an air filter myself, for this vehicle, simply involves removing the glove box (one simple screw) and that's it! 3 minutes of work. The grand total for an oil change, with the conventional cheapest oil possible, an air filter, and a transmission NON-flush was $ 225. A true ripoff. If you need at oil change, go to grease monkey, maybe even provide your own oil, and it will be cheaper. Google your car's make and see how easy it is to change your own air filter, and how much cheaper they are on Amazon. If you need to get a transmission flush, go to an actual decent mechanic, who will use the actual machines they have to get the work done, instead of being too lazy to use the actual machine. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Bottom line: Just don't buy an air filter here, don't get transmission flush here. read more

i'll just preface by saying: i hate leaving bad reviews! but sometimes the bad service at a place demands it. i showed up right when they opened. the owner or manager told me he was the only one there and that it would take about 1.5 hours for them to get to working on my car. i really needed to get a change and jump on the highway at noon so agreed. no problem i get it having been a manager before, sometimes people are flaky. anyway 2 more workers showed up after an hour of waiting and after 2 hours of waiting for them to finish other cards before me, they finally got to working on my car. then another 40 minutes of waiting for them to do a really basic oil change. so waiting in the lobby with nothing else to do i notice there is a large tv screen in there that states, based on when they started servicing my car, that they had gone 25 minutes over schedule (it's only supposed to take them 20 minutes or so) after starting to work on my car. so the screen is saying "you get 25$ off because they went 25 minutes over the 20 minute allotted service time. okay, interesting deal. cool ill take them up on that! but then so after almost 3 hours when the manager/owner guy finally rings me up - i pointed out what was on the screen plain as day. he started fumbling with his words, trying to think up an excuse to not have to give me that discount and said "there's fine print that says "in extreme cases that screen is not valid"". there was no fine print on the screen (and i can't find any fine print about this online anywhere, since then). he basically lied to me to my face! i politely said then "you should turn that screen off if you are not going to honor that deal - it's totally deceptive". he just ignored me. i didn't have time to really push or argue and just wanted to get out of there at that point. THE WORST PART: 2 days later my car started smoking down near the oil filter and it seems there is a leak there i now have to get fixed so they obviously rushed something out on my car that morning (even though it took 3 of them 40 minutes to do a basic oil change?). sadly, cannot recommend this place as it's run by incompetent people who might just lie to your face. read more

I went in for a fast radiator flush, and ended up replacing a belt as well. They have a clean waiting room, and work quickly to get your vehicle through the queue. I asked them to check my belt, luckily. The belt was more years old than it should have been, and desperately needed to be replaced. They were able to get the new belt, and get it installed in 20 minutes. And after looking at the old one, it wasn't a minute too soon. Easy access at this location and the good service they provide help make them a place I'll stop again. read more

I'm pretty savvy about my cars. I've done my own work for years, but this week was defeated by a stripped bolt head on my oil drain plug. Based on reviews I brought my 2011 Cruze to these guys. The Attendant was prompt and polite, and when I explained my problem he walked me through some possible solutions in case the threads are also damaged. While I'm waiting the sitting room is pretty standard, but cozy and well kept. Even the rest room is sparkling The "head tech" just came in and gave the classic upsell speech- very low pressure, but recommending a transmission flush and a coolant flush, citing "manufacturer recommendations" (he also mentioned my belt and filter were in great condition). He's spot on with the coolant (though honestly I'm surprised he didn't mention my leaky return hoses), it should be flushed at 60 mo / 150k, but until something breaks there's no reason to flush a manual gearbox (it's not even on the manufacturer's service schedule). Maybe he got confused and pulled the automatic transmission info, but I'll call this less than nefarious! And after about 20 minutes total, they're done :) got the old plug out no problem, and I only paid about $80 for that and a full synthetic oil change! Now, time to go shred some powder in the mountains! read more

This location is amazing. Every worker is friendly and helpful, and they don't try to push the services on you. They go above and beyond each time. Recently, I went in to have a wiper blade inspected, and they ended up fixing the wiper blade, declogging my wiper fluid tube, reinflating my tire, and replacing the tire cover all for FREE. I am VERY particular about my vehicle - some would say persnickety - often wanting to personally inspect the chassis myself to validate/confirm any leaks or issues ... However they were unorganized and ended up taking close to an hour and a half, an hour and 15 minutes of that was just waiting. He said all they could do was garunteedl the time it takes after its pulled in the bay. Quick oil change..price is higher than most quick oil change chains, because of the extras such as topping off fluids, other checks, washing windows, vaccuming car, etc. Check online for coupons to save some cash. They will also try to upsell you while you wait, but when I said I wasn't intersted, they left it alone. Customer service was good and I was out of there in like 10-15 minutes. read more

These guys are incompetent. The last time I was there for an oil change on my truck, they didn't bother to check the radiator and less than a week after going there my check engine light came on - the radiator was empty. Because they are so close I used them again for my car. During the service they informed me my cabin filter needed to be replaced, I said no thanks - I can replace it myself. I went to open the glove box the next day and it was broken. I thought it was coincidental, why would the Grease Monkey technicians open the glove box? Today I went to get a replacement for the cabin filter, and what do you know, you have to take out the glove box to replace the filter. So they did break it. I am furious. These guys are terrible - they didn't even say anything. On top of that, they never vacuum the car like they are supposed to. Will not go back to this (or any other) Grease Monkey. read more

The A-OK is for the usual good service Grease Monkey provides at most of it's locations and this location did not fail in the usual routine you go through; especially the scary sit down moment when the guy comes back with some horrible looking component out of your vehicle that you need to drive away with and tells you matter of factly that driving away without addressing that $$$ issue could cost huge $$$$ down the line - gosh! Well usually they are probably right especially if you cannot tell a differential from a torque converter. But sending the guy out to tell me about my truck expecting to know more about my truck then me - you have the wrong dude. When my truck is a two wheel drive but looks like a four wheel drive and you tell me the front diff fluid should be changed you better get your rear back and know what your talking about first before you talk to the customers and sorry it was a little embarrassing for you. But thanks anyway and it should not reflect on the rest of the great usual service. read more

Attention Jeep Owners.... Been a customer since 2001....(2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee).... Stick to Oil Changes only..... On my last visit (march 2011); I had an Oil change, Transmission, transfer case and front/rear differential serviced...... after they serviced my truck, I had the following issues: Transmission pan leaked... Transfer case check plug leaked... Chatter from front and rear differential.... 1st return: they tightened bolts on trans pan and replaced check plug... Still leaking and more than before.... (Multiple larger spots on my garage floor).... took pictures to show them...... 2nd return: replaced gasket on trans pan....and replaced original bolts with 3 new bolts...... still leaking....(new spots on my garage floor).....more pictures to show them...... 3rd return: indicated that they couldn't see any trans leak and questioned if there was one...my garage floor and the pictures proved otherwise.... still leaking....(new spots on my garage floor)..... 4th return: they added 2 tubes of anti-chatter limited slip fluid to rear diff to stop chatter.....BUT challenged me on trans leak.....garage floor still indicates continued leak...... At this point, I asked to see the manager and informed him that I thought it was time I brought the truck to the Jeep dealer to address/fix the issues they caused and asked him (professionally) how he wanted to handle the situation..... I reminded him that I had been a customer since 2001 and had returned 4 times since they performed the service and I still had issues..... And here's when he lost me as a customer...... I'll repeat that.....And here's when he lost me as a customer...... The manager became annoyed and said that I was being difficult and HE didn't need MY attitude (remember that I had been patient and had returned 4 times to allow them to fix the issues THEY caused....the fact that I was a customer since 2001 was meaningless to him.....)..... Soooo........The Jeep Dealer fixed the following items: TRANS: replaced tran pan and gasket as it was clearly leaking....also commented on the 3 new LARGER bolts installed indicating in their words that the previous shop must have stripped the old ones...... Differential: Added fluid to the front diff to stop chatter...... hmmmm......... read more

I decided to take my fairly NEW Jeep Wrangler to this shop for its first oil change...I should have read all the reviews before I went!! I live pretty close to this shop. My neighbors, who had tried this Grease Monkey before, suggested that I not use them due to past poor services. But, I thought it would be convenient, and really how bad could it really be??? First of all, they are even more expensive than if I had taken my Jeep to a dealer for an oil change...and of course I had to deal the the up-selling they tried to do. I did agree to have them replace my wiper blades with the higher-end blades (lets face it, Mopar wiper blades are terrible. But I wish I had them replaced somewhere else.) As soon as I got in the car, I discovered a HUGE crack in my windshield. I went back in the shop and the Manager, Christopher came out and looked at it. He went back into the shop to" talk to the technician" who he said worked on my Jeep. He then came back out and denied that they had caused the crack!!! What???!!! It certainly wasn't there when I dropped off my car. Then he tried to say that the crack was already there. All of a sudden it wasn't this so called technician that had worked on the jeep. Now Christopher stated that he was the one that replaced the wiper blades and he didn't see the crack because the windshield was dirty and they had not cleaned the windshield yet. That was an interesting comment since just prior to taking my Jeep to this shop, I had filled my gas tank up and cleaned the windshield. THEY CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD WHILE IT WAS IN THEIR SHOP--their excuses are just as worthless as their service.Just like a couple of other people have posted in here, its not really about the "accident" or damage they have done, but about the LACK OF INTEGRITY. Oh, and by the way, they insist that they did such a great and thorough job, yet those idiots didn't even vacuum the interior like they said they did! What else did they not really do? Did they even change my oil???? THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF. I live in the neighborhood, and I will make sure that no one is this neighborhood loses their money here ever again. What's it say that a business' reputation is so bad that people close by won't even use them??!!! read more

When I got there they told me I had to turn my car around because I didn't enter in the right way. This Grease Monkey is located on two one-way streets so turning around would be time consuming and difficult. When I looked I could have easily just backed up my car into the correct entrance but after one of the attendants laughed at me for not going in the right way I decided to look for another place to get a oil change. Low and behold in order to turn my car around I would have had to pass by Midas where I easily went in and immediately got an oil change. If Grease Monkey is so strict on people entering in the alleyway it calls an entrance they really shouldn't tell people to pass by another car maintenance shop that gives better customer service. I will not ever be returning to this or any other Grease Monkey because of this experience. I recommend the Midas that's 2 blocks away instead. read more

They come to let you know what needs to be done or changed but are NEVER pushy. They ask questions but don't try to talk you into upgrades, replacements, etc... Only ever making recommendations. I have been going to this Grease Monkey for the last 4 years. I have found the staff to be professional. My experience with the services has always been pleasant. The staff will inform me what needs to be complete at the time of service. The staff lets me know that it is up to me if I want the extras and what the cost will be up front. When I leave my windows are clean and the floor is vacuum. When I leave the person checks me out with a smile as dose the person that is holding my door open for me. DO NOT GO HERE I decided to take my car here for an oil change and a few other services. The technician told me my "headlight was a little loose" but he'd take care of it no problem. There were a few people before me so by the time they finally got done I just hopped in my car and went home with our inspecting it (big mistake). I get home and the blinker part of my car is HANGING out of my car by the wires. And there's a rather large dent right next to it... So I call the grease monkey and no one answers. The next day I call again to tell them what happened and they were nothing but rude. When I brought my car in I asked to speak to tht guy who worked I my car, of course he is t there. So the manager chris speaks to me and says when I came the day before he saw my light hanging out. Which was a complete lie. When I mentioned the dent he told me it had clearly been there for a while. When I asked for camera footage he told he smiles and says nope we don't use cameras here. These guys are unprofessional and untrustworthy. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. 20 minutes after I road my car out of this Grease Monkey, my car made a clicking sound from the motor and then completely stalled on the highway. After it was towed to the mechanic, they said the connecting or main rod was broken and that is nearly always due to not enough oil being put in the engine. Though there was oil in the tank, it is almost certain that they did not put enough in, or any at all, realized their mistake and then topped it off before I got the car out of the establishment.. Since I was not there when the oil change occurred to see what they did, I cannot prove it beyond a doubt, but it was almost certainly due to incompetence of the employees at Grease Monkey. When they were called when I was on the side of the road, they said they would come out right away initially. However, when the technician checked with the assistant manager he denied they did anything wrong and said that they cannot do anything. I believe my car was completely ruined because of this oil change experience and I had to essentially junk my $5000 car and am forced to find a new one. Do NOT go to this place. In fact, I would probably stay away from most places that do not have certified mechanics, even for an oil change. read more
