Completely Unprofessional, Disorganized, and Untrustworthy Tow Company Great America Towing was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever dealt with. From the moment we walked in, staff were completely disengaged and unprofessional. Instead of assisting customers, employees were distracted and made it clear we were not a priority. We were literally told to wait while staff socialized and watched videos instead of handling business. The front desk employee was dismissive and unable to clearly explain basic details about pricing or service timelines. The only information provided was a vague hourly rate of around $195, with zero transparency on how long service would take or what we should expect. Everything felt intentionally unclear and unprofessional. My vehicle was brought there after being recovered by police, and even that process turned into frustration. Instead of answering questions, staff became defensive and uncooperative when asked simple, reasonable questions about the service being charged. At one point, we were threatened with police involvement for "trespassing" simply for asking questions and trying to understand what we were paying for. That level of escalation was completely unnecessary and felt like intimidation rather than customer service. Because of the lack of clarity and disrespectful treatment, I chose to take my business elsewhere and contacted another towing company that was professional, transparent, and willing to help immediately. Even after that decision, the situation continued to be handled poorly, including unnecessary confrontation toward the alternative tow operator instead of simply releasing the vehicle without issues. Management (Adam) was informed, but there was no accountability, no effort to resolve concerns, and no visible interest in how customers were being treated. Bottom line: this company operates with poor communication, lack of professionalism, and zero customer care. I would strongly advise others to avoid them if you expect basic respect and transparency. I've always liked Great America towing when I use AAA, they have really nice people working for them. But Jesse went above and beyond to help me! I needed a jumpstart but he showed me I needed a new battery. He had the battery I needed in the van and he installed it himself even though it's an extremely hard battery to put in (I guess he had some time!) Other people in the complex I was in were coming and going, and he patiently moved his vehicle each time and with a smile! It's very unusual for others to go out of their way to help and it was genuinely refreshing to see such a young person with such a great attitude. read more

I am very disgusted on the professionalism and the respect they have for a customers here I had my car totaled a while back and they gave me the name of the company that tow it, but if I couldn't find it, but for some reason when I typed the name great America towing popped up so I was asking them questions. Like are they part of the name of the company? Hello Great America Tow. My name is Francis. Y'all save my night. The phone representative Shante that answered the phone was soo polite speaking to me about my concern. My Infiniti G35 got stuck in front of Chase bank by East Brokaw Road. Shante got my details about my car, & told me a tow depatcher will arrive within an 1hour. To my surprise, Francisco showed up within 30 minutes. The reason why I chose you because, I did a Google search Tow Services near me, & Great America came up on top. I compared others Tow businesses & I'm definitely avoiding Morris & Son, got soo many awful reviews. I also liked their pictures on Google photos, They all looked professional. Now to the Tow depatcher. Francisco is a soft spoken Tow guy that made me feel at ease, & he said he'll take care of me. He hooked up my car like a magician. Requested towing through AAA Great America towing responded and came to my vehicle. The driver did not accept my digital ID/membership card, was adamant that it had to be a physical card, and cancelled the towing and left me. Per AAA policy, digital ID cards are acceptable. I've had a couple of other AAA tows using my digital ID, and the AAA representative who I talked to to re-book a tow confirmed digital ID is acceptable. This review is regarding the Great America Towing tow truck (#4638N1) on 680 northbound on 12/21/21. Driver was towing a white truck (#41536HZ), driving very dangerously, abruptly changing lanes and aggressively tailgating multiple vehicles. Tow truck driver repeatedly honked with the added bonus of hostile gestures to drivers who would not move out of his way. Appeared to have absolutely no concern for safety on the road and the current speed/flow of traffic. My teenager took photos of the both the tow truck and driver to include in the police report. Would expect better from a driver from a large tow company in the Bay Area. An accident is going to happen with this aggressive behavior and dangerous driving on the freeway. read more

No one ever wants to have to contact a towing company. So when our time came around we chose Great America Towing because AAA recommended them. We were transitioning from 101 to 680 when our leaf spring broke on our travel trailer. As you can imagine this scenario can go bad very fast! We were lucky to get an awesome and caring driver! He gave great care to our Travel Trailer and worked diligently to get it on the flat bed without causing more damage. We were so happy we got a caring driver. He really made the experience we were dealing with much easier on us. Unfortunately in our distress I forgot to get his name, but that guy definitely deserves a raise! I thought I needed a tow as my electric car rant out. Despite my phone being inoperable led to confusion. Still they were so understanding. I had a tire blow out and was stranded on 680 tonight near Berryessa Road in San Jose. I was on the left hand side as there is no right hand shoulder. Cars whizzing past me at 80 mph. My Dad's 1999 Ford F350 4x4 7.3L diesel 4R100 auto tranny overheated & I came down from NorCal (Mendocino Co) to rescue him with my 1999 F250 (same truck) but when we realized we didn't quite have the equipment to load it safely, we called in the pros & they got it loaded quickly, safely & gave us some pointers on securing it per CHP regulations. This company charged me a tow from San Jose to Sacramento at a rate of $130 per hour, 2 hour drive, not only that but the driver said I had to pay his drive back, total $540, but while in Sacramento he picks up my neighbors car to take to San Jose, so I basically paid an extra $240 that they pocketed. Our SUV had a dead battery. I called our AAA road service and the automated call service estimated 55 minutes. This was all done via cell phone with the location even identified via text. A few moments later, Great America Tow, a AAA affiliated road service company was dispatched with an updated eta of only 9 minutes. This was fantastic. Not Great America Tow's fault but I would have like to describe my location in better detail as I was in the back of a larger company in the garage, not in front. My wife, thank goodness, went to wait in the front and directed the driver to me, however. Otherwise, the automated cell phone response merely said the driver had arrived and would wait 5 minutes. It could take longer than that to walk to the front and find the driver and was concerned for a moment. We all ascertained a new battery was needed for a 5 year old car. The driver's supplied diagnostic box indicated a dead battery, which was so dead, further diagnostics were not possible. The driver had a new battery in his van, in stock, and the battery was replaced without much incident. My criticism was the driver/technician didn't have one of those battery-bypass "memory saver" devices, causing us to reboot our car radio/Nav system. These devices are made to plug into a cigarette lighter outlet or the car's "OBD" terminal. Otherwise, I would have rated the company's response at 5 stars. read more

Absolute worst experience ever with this tow truck company. CHP requested a tow truck for us after a pretty scary car accident on the freeway as we had AAA. The driver took us and towed our totaled truck a mile away to their yard and treated us horribly. We were not even allowed to use their restroom. They then told us we were not allowed to retrieve our personal items from the truck. They hid our keys and blocked in our vehicle in with a forklift. The truck was not even drivable so I'm not sure why they thought this was necessary. We had AAA and full coverage car insurance so they were going to get their money. Two weeks later we receive a huge bill that has incorrect information. This company really took a bad situation and made it 10 times worse for us. I also want to mention that we overheard some conversations about recent accidents from nearby workers discussing details. Common decency and privacy clearly aren't being practiced here. AAA should drop them! The very reason you pay for AAA is when you need help. They don't even deserve 1 star. read more

The service was great, planned for a 9am service, driver arrived just a couple mins after 9am, was done before 10am. Couple of issues hence the 4 star review. I was quoted an hourly fee, but no one told me that - I would also be charged drive time to and from the location, so I ended up with a 2 hour bill instead of 1. Also would have been nice to receive a call once the driver was enroute, instead I called waited on hold for almost 10 minutes finally hung up called back and got someone to verify the driver was already headed to my appointment. read more
