The dude I spoke with was a flaming asshole who was incredibly condescending and unhelpful. Called asking what they had in stock for radiator hoses and provided measurements. While explaining that we have a vintage car that is over 100 years old that would not be in their system I was interrupted and told "you can pay us to research it".... I told them I already know what I need, and again gave them the measurements, I was interrupted again and they said "it would be too hard to find it" in their OWN SHOP... If it's too hard for you to find a part in your own shop hire an organizer and don't be an ass. read more

Just a positive thumbs up for Mountain View Radiator. My front windshield had some type of sticky goo and I couldn't get it off with my normal equipment. It was scary driving with an obscured windshield so I tried to find the closest hand wash car wash because for some other reasons, I couldn't get a normal drive through car wash. Thought Mountain View Radiator doesn't have a car wash, they were really nice and just helped me wash off the goo with their car chemical equipments. So I'm very grateful because I could have crashed. And they were super nice about it and just seemed like nice people. My smart ED died at the charger, 3 miles away from my home. After walking home to call Geico and arrange a tow, I then walked back to where it was parked to give Bill the keys. Bill went out of his way to accommodate giving me time to walk back to the car after calling for the tow. Then when he learned I had to walk home again, he offered to give me a ride! So before he had even loaded my car, he drove me home. On the way we chatted a bit and I learned that he has gone through all the training to safely tow all the hardest cars -- for example my half-sized electric car and the Tesla, neither of which can be towed in the normal dolly-type way. So all in all, he went out of his way to not only provide excellent technical expertise, but also to be a kind human being. If I ever need a tow again, I will be requesting Geico sends him! read more

I was treated incredibly rudely by this company's owner. My car battery had died due to a battery cell going bad, and I requested a jump start so I could at least get the car to a shop to have my battery replaced. I was told on the phone by the company owner that it would be $35. Later, I called to check whether the same company could also replace my battery (I spoke to the owner's son this time), and they said they could replace it for $135 including battery or $20 for just replacing if I provided the battery. I confirmed the cost of jump start, and this time they said it would be $55. I mentioned I was previously told $35, and I was told that I was mistaken. I thought, okay, I guess I misheard. Subsequently, the owner called to tell me he was at my car, but it was about 15 minutes sooner that expected (he had told me 30 min) so I was around the corner at Walmart frantically trying to buy a car battery. I told him I'd be there in 5 minutes, and he sounded very frustrated and rudely told me to "hurry up." Five minutes later, I arrived, and he took my keys and restarted the car. Then he said, "that will be $75." I thought, no way I misheard them twice, so I began to tell him that I was told $55 on the phone. He said, "are you going to pay or not?" I responded, "can I just explain what I was told on the phone?" But he cut me off and said "okay then" and, if you can believe it, he reached into my car, turned off the engine, tossed my keys onto my car roof and said-- "I don't like being lied to. Call someone else." I was dumbfounded. I called the company in a panic to re-confirm the price...was I crazy? It was the owner's son again, and he confirmed $55. Then, I told him what happened, and he said "yeah, that's my Dad, the owner." At least he was apologetic. But, needless to say, the owner was incredibly rude and awful and I would never recommend this place to anyone! read more

I am 95 years old and feel like I was taken advantage of. I was charged $2600 by Mountain View Radiator to fix several issues after my car broke down and was towed to their location by AAA. They ostensibly took care of the issue that caused the breakdown, but when they called to tell us the car was ready, they also suggested other work be done. I agreed to do some, because my caregiver and I need the car for transportation. They also sent someone to pick us up when the additional work was complete and I was not comfortable with the woman who picked us up. She didn't drive safely. After my caregiver drove the car for a few days, it was obvious that not all of the issues were taken care of and I didn't want to go back to Mountain View Radiator. I ended up taking the car to another service station (Shoreline Auto Care) who fixed the unresolved issues and told me that I was charged about double what I should have been by Mountain View Radiator. read more

Very incompetent and overpriced. I asked them to fix my trunk, stereo​, and the key fob. They didn't fully fix the trunk, they said my stereo needs replacement even though the problem was with the power wire (I had to do the diagnostic myself), and they wanted to replace the entire alarm system when it was not broken. They charged​​ me $320. read more

Greg is the kind of guy that you want to ask to be your kid's godfather, let alone the kind of guy who comes by to rescue your car by the side of the highway. Friendly, professional, and good-hearted are words to describe Greg and Family Towing. We got to know each other, and Greg even asked to take a picture of me by the car like he tries to do for his Dad each time so they can talk about the cars and people they work with. Nobody likes to have to have their car towed, but this was an extremely good experience. I had done a stupid thing: I took a corner too fast and ripped a hole in the sidewall of my tire! My car has no spare, just an inflater and a flat fixer, so I was stuck! I called a few tire places and found one that had my tire. I asked them to recommend a tow and they suggested "Family Towing." Greg, the driver, called when he was on his way, and did an extremely careful job getting my car onto the flatbed truck. He took similar care removing it from the truck. He was very professional, nice, and pleasant to deal with. I was also impressed by his ability to move my car easily with just one hand on the tire! The price they quoted on the phone was the price I paid, and it was a reasonable rate. If I'm ever unfortunate enough to need a tow again, I'd definitely call them. read more

These guys are great! I had work done on my Jeep Grand Cherokee last year and I was very impressed with the honesty and level of service provided by Family Towing. It's not easy to find a good mechanic these days so it's refreshing to find a business like Family Towing. My Jeep needed some alignment and suspension work in addition to an inspection on the engine. The work was completed within 2 days (Very reasonable) and cost was less than what I had anticipated. Having had so many bad experiences with auto service shops, I expected to be up-sold on parts or unneeded services. This is not the case with Bill and his team. They did the work I asked for and performed a quality job. I have recently moved further away from their business but will continue to take my vehicles to Family Towing for future repairs. read more

I found Mountain View Radiator through CarDash which (as of 09/24/2018) is a great service in and of itself. After car difficulties, I brought in my Prius the very next morning and they looked at it immediately. Manny was friendly and informative and pointed me to a dealer nearby for my warranty-covered repair. They are very rude and think people dont know their own vehicle when you come here. I've worked on my own car for years so I know what I'm doing underneath a hood. These goobers tried to tell someone I was selling a car to that it had leaks and radiator issues when I know 100% my car has no such problems. I've only had to have a car towed twice in my life, but this was easily the best service I've gotten. When the car initially broke down off of 880, CHP called a local towing place to do the job. It ended up costing $350 to get it towed to Mountain View, the guy wasn't that friendly, and I needed to participate during the hookup and off loading. Now, I needed to have the car towed to a service shop for transmission work. That's when I called Family Towing. I was skeptical at first, since 'family-owned' doesn't always mean high quality (I've seen plenty that get 'too' personal and unprofessional). However, given the reviews this place has had, I felt it was worth a try. Boy was that the right decision! One of the sons came out with a flat bed, gave a great price, and did all the work! If you don't want your car being grab and must call police to get your car back and don't want to accept to ONLY pay cash to get your car loaded and don't want yourself to be injured! Please don't use their service! This is my worst experience I have ever had in my life! My tie got flat and I called this company by searching online. I wait for over two hours, called three times to get the towing car arrived. I saw the tie was getting worse after the tow driver pull my car to the truck, so I told him I want the repair shop owner to check it. He immediately got angry and said he won't load my car and jump into his car and left. I was scared and jumped his car to try to stop him. OH MY GOD, he just kept driving his truck! You never know how scaring it is!! I jump off and saw him left with nothing I can do! Everybody saw he was doing it and warning him he can't do in this way. He just ignored it and left. I called police and they came and said he insist only accept cash, otherwise he will take my car away until I pay cash! I confirmed with this towing company before I had their service they do accept credit card! Now, I don't have cash on hand and because of that, I can't get my own car!!! In order to get my car, I beg the repair shop owner to pay for me and then I pay them back. What an awful experience it is! I had two tires go flat in a very remote area (narrow, one lane roads) and Family Towing was the only towing company that my roadside assistance was able to source that was willing to make the trip out. Greg made the trip out to Santa Cruz county from San Francisco, which naturally took some time, but from the moment of his arrival, he did his best to provide a great experience...something hard to do when you've been stuck on the side of the road for awhile and just want to get on with your day. Greg was courteous, professional, and very personable. We had a long ride back to the dealership and we had a pleasant conversation. Once we arrived, he went out of his way to ensure all loose ends were taken care of and even offered some friendly advice for future roadside issues. I live in Sunnyvale, and got towed earlier today, and although generally it's a pretty bad experience, I'm sure that next time I need a tow, I'll go with Family Towing. My car hasn't started for a while, and so I called a few places off of Yelp. Most of them were pretty expensive, and frankly not very polite over the phone. I took this '83 gmc van in for a smog repair. At first, I didn't know they did smog repairs or smog checks for that matter. I was looking for star certified stations because the owner of the one nearby threatened me with a possible $10,000 repair when the van failed at his station. At MV Radiator, my dealings were mostly with Manny; They did the tests and found things wrong with it. Then I waited a while for the repair because I asked for CAP assistance. To my surprise, on the day Manny asked to look at one more thing, he magically got the old van to pass with flying colors in tandem with BAR reps - no more money involved, no more repairs involved.
