My partner has been coming here for ages, but this was my first time. When I entered, I asked about the ingredients in the cheddar herb bagel and the cucumber shmear. I was happy to learn that neither have garlic or onion! So, I ordered a cheddar herb bagel, toasted, with cucumber shmear, and avocado. It was delicious! The bagel was crisp on the outside, but soft on the inside. My partner got a sausage, egg, cheese on an everything bagel. He loved it, as usual. I also ordered a spiced chai. It came out pipping hot but once it cooled enough that I could drink it, it was delicious! Highly recommend! They have a shared parking lot with a few other places, but it was easy to find a parking spot. You order at the counter, and they prepare your bagels, so that when you get to the cash register, they are ready for you to take. If your drinks aren't ready yet, you can take a seat at one of the tables and they will bring them to you. The people working here seemed like a family. I was here to get a Too Good To Go order and wanted a sandwich to eat right when I did the pickup, It was a really good sandwich! I also really enjoyed the selections of bagels I got too! I visited this place with a friend the other day for a quick bite. They have a great selection of bagels, cream cheeses, sandwiches. I went with the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a cheddar and herb bagel. The bagel was toasted perfectly, but I wasn't a fan of the flavor. In my opinion, there wasn't enough cheddar, and the herb taste was just a faint hint. The sandwich itself was made quickly, and everything else was good, I think I could have picked a different bagel. I just didn't want to add an additional cost to the sandwich. My friend ordered an asiago bagel with veggie cream cheese, but they accidentally gave her plain cream cheese instead. Despite the mix-up, they really loaded up the bagel with cream cheese, so she still enjoyed it. I'd definitely come back to try a different bagel and maybe experiment with a new sandwich combination. So this location used to be owned by different people, and when they owned it you used to be able to go into the location and actually watch the bagels being made in the machine behind the window, and we used to spend lots of time with our son in there watching them being made while we ate. We do still love the location though. We probably come in here once every week to get bagels for the week. I would recommend this place. You can go in and just get a bagel sandwich if you wanted or buy bagels to take home. The service is always super helpful. read more

This place has changed hands once or twice, and the current ownership is pretty good. They have expanded the menu and always greet you when you come in - very welcoming. The problem with changing ownership is that the new owners now have to pay for their investment, and sometimes that effects everything else. The bagels are pretty good, but seem smaller than the last time we were in --- I don't know maybe its just me. They have also instituted a 3.5% upcharge when you use credit cards ... so it's really not a convenience anymore. I suspect I am going to have to get used to the upcharge a lot of places are putting in, but it still rankles me a bit ... just seems like a nickel and dime thing. The new ownership really skimps on the meat. You are basically paying for the bagel and not much more. This location is unfortunately not remotely comparable to other ones surrounding it. Please give more meat than one slice. Ripped off every time I go here. read more

This place is good and simple. They have many different bagels but they are often out of the good ones. It's a nice change up from your typical Starbucks and Einstein's. This used to be the best GAB. Now the bagels are not as fresh and they eliminated some. The worst part is they are always changing their hours or posting hours and then not there. Really miss the old owners who were always there. Look at the hours of surrounding GAB throughout the area. You're missing so much business by limiting your hours from 7-2. read more

Sadly this location has gone down hill under new ownership. Got rid of a lot of great flavors of bagels. They also consistently burn the toasted bagels and still serve them! If you see a bagel is burnt you should not be serving it! Had to throw out an entire meal because my kids would not eat it. Sad. read more

Erica there is a great! However, today when I was entering the store, I noticed the trash can was OVER FLOWING with trash. Even the sidewalk was dirty in front of the trash can. Doesn't really make you want to eat the food from this place if they can't empty the trash. Rodents are more likely to come around if the trash is never emptied. This place gives me exactly what I'm looking for when I want a savory bagel with cream cheese. The bagels are always perfectly toasted and the cream cheese is never lacking. The staff is always friendly, greets us when we walk in the door, and doesn't rush when making our bagels. They're even happy to handle my bagel separately from my wife's (separate bag and all) so my savory bagel doesn't contaminate her sweet bagel. The place is laid out very well with customer seating situated away from the counter so I'm not dancing around people trying to place an order. My girlfriend and I went there this morning with a few of my young cousins. I got an asiago spinach bagel with jalapeño cream cheese which was fantastic. She had a lox bagel with tomato and onion on it, the fish was very fresh. The kids had chocolate chip or French toast bagels and caramel apple cream cheese. While we ate our bagels, the kids were fascinated by the large windowed room in the middle, where they had people making the bagels fresh- very cool process to watch. Delicious bagels and friendly service! I work right across the street, but I finally made my first trip in here last week. Since then I have been back three times! The bagels are amazing. The everything bagel had the perfect amount of salt, which normally seems to be lacking at every other bagel place I have been to. They have so many options for cream cheese flavors, all of which have been delicious. Try the vanilla cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. It tastes just like a cinnamon roll! The inside is clean and there is plenty of seating which has made it an ideal study spot for me over the course of the last week. I am so glad I finally stopped in here. Now I can finally say goodbye to the overproduced and limited selection of bagels of Starbucks. The only thing that has disappointed me so far is the soup, but the amazing bagels more than make up for that. read more

Went in wasn't greeted with a good morning but a "what do you want". Place is dirty from the floors to all the dust on the coffee thermos. Extremely unfriendly staff. I am completely disapointed in this location. I used to live a few suburbs over next to another Great American and it was fabulous. This Harlem location is on my route to work now that I have moved - so I have stopped a few times and cant believe the difference between the two locations. I always order the same breakfast item...a plain bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese. Pretty simple, right? Not sure what they are doing different, but the Harlem location barely has any veggies in theirs and the cream cheese is almost a yellow. What is making it a darker yellow? Too boot...they put the least amount of cream cheese on the bagel as possible - not even a thin layer. I realize I could order extra - but trust me - I shouldnt have to at the price for a single bagel with cream cheese. At the other American Bagel locations I have been to - the veggie cream cheese is a bright white, full of veggies and tastes amazing. I will say they are friendly in the mornings when customers come through the door. read more
