This company has excellent reviews and no doubt they do excellent work. However, they do not talk to a woman without her husband present. I've handled two major renovation during the 40 years we've been in our home. I also totally redid a bathroom in our first home (took out old tile, rebuilt the wall around the tub, installed new tile, wallpapered, painted - everything except install the new toilet and sink). My husband gets golf balls and cloths for x-mas - I get tools and art supplies. I am beyond capable of understanding a quote on a deck (the small project I'm planning now) AND I never sign a contract the day it is presented. I like to get at least three quotes on any job. I had one other company back in 1977 not meet with me unless my husband was home - I totally thought things had changed by now, but guess not for everyone UPDATED: Yes, I received more than one phone call letting me know that an exception would be made to meet with me without my husband. I informed each caller that I had other options and that I did not want further calls. Hopefully no more calls from this company. I'm sure they may do great work and the person I originally talked with was very nice -- just wish I'd known at that time that we both needed to be there and I wouldn't have given them my info. read more

I hired Great American Exteriors to replace the siding on my home. During their initial visit, I received a long sales pitch focused on their customer service, ethics, and BBB ratings. We signed a contract on April 18 with a clearly defined scope and fixed project cost. The scope never changed. The job was to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks, and I paid a deposit as agreed. I received no scheduling updates and had to follow up twice. On May 29, more than five weeks later, they told me they could not complete the job for the contracted price and asked for about a third more. They admitted the pricing issue was their mistake but blamed the small size of my project, even though they had known that from the beginning. They did return my deposit but refused to honor the signed agreement. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism made this a very disappointing experience. I wish I had seen the other reviews sooner. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, but unfortunately that's not an option. Terrible experience. They solicited work because they were doing some work for a neighbor last fall. We'd set up an appointment to get an estimate. They called to confirm the estimate, then messaged asking if they could show up later than the original appointment, I said that was fine. They didn't show for the newly scheduled appointment and didn't let us know they weren't able to show until well after the updated appointment time. I eventually got a message asking if they could reschedule. I told them that considering they weren't professional enough to call and let us know they weren't able to make the time they rescheduled to, I would never work with this business again. Since then, they've called 5x and each time they apologized that they don't have it in their database that I've told them I would never work with them again. I've now had to block their number to keep from calling. read more

If I could give no stars I would. We spoke with the company at a Home Show and they seemed very nice. When they called to confirm the appointment, we explained that we had changed our minds and wouldn't be going forward with the project. While I was explaining why we decided to hold off the rep transferred me to someone else without even telling me he was doing it! The second rep wouldn't take no for an answer. He then told me to hold on as he was going to transfer me to someone else. While on hold I just hung up. They then called me over and over until I eventually answered. The third person I spoke with identified himself as the president of the company and he was even pushier than the first two. He wouldn't let me get off the phone and even admitted to being aggressive. He said and I quote: "We are aggressive with our customers but just as aggressive with doing a good job" What in the world is that? Then when I thought I was finally getting off the phone, he told me they'd check back in and call us in a few months. When I said that wasn't necessary, he said they would anyways. I finally had to emphatically tell him we do not want any calls from his company as their corporate philosophy didn't mesh with our values we look for in a company. He kept talking and I finally had to hang up on him. What an incredibly unsettling experience, almost to the point of harassment. Maybe some people have had good work done by this company, I don't know. But I'm relieved that I'll never find out. With these tactics I can't even imagine how uncomfortable and creepy the experience would have been if a representative of this company was in our home. We're not trying to tell anyone what to do to, but wanted to share our experience. I know we'll be avoiding this company like the plague. read more

I have never been taken on a home project until I met this company at a home show. I paid for expensive, quality siding but they put a different product and color on my house at the original price. They said I did not remember what I chose and denied what I described was ever available. I never saw the siding currently on my house prior to installation. If you do contract with them, take a picture of the salesperson holding the sample you chose. But better yet, stay away from them at all cost. I also was embarrassed at how aggressive they were in soliciting my neighbors without my permission. *********************************************** 1/2/2025 I received your phone message and have read your response below. Yes, it was many years ago but I think it is important that others do not experience what I did - hence, the review. You say I signed off on it and seemed fine. Let me refresh your memory - I fired you midway through the project and you threatened to take me to court. You staged the samples to remove the one I chose originally and maintained I was the one with a memory issue. There is no way the siding on my house was worth what you charged me. After you hung up on me, your associate contacted me and reduced the price (somewhat - still overpriced) to complete the job. If you speak with an accent they are not thrilled to work with you and the President of the company Sam Sanfilippo does not have a problem sharing this with you in a very sarcastic, weird way. Overall my 2 minutes phone call was very, very weird and told them maybe we are not a good fit which was almost celebrated at the other end. So far we're disappointed with the service or lack there of. We are getting a full patio built. We paid our deposit in full. We have on multiple occasions confirmed the start date on construction only to have them NEVER ARRIVE. When we confront them, they act confused and simply say "oh we'll come next week." They don't even bother to call us to tell us that they're not planning on coming. They try to convince us that we were mistaken about the start date despite us having confirmed it with them. This process has been completely disruptive to our work schedules and family. I have a feeling they have no interest in completing our business on time now that they've procured our non-refundable deposit. They are fully aware that we can't walk away now. To be clear, we understand that scheduling issues and delays can happen with contractors...however, we expect to be given a phone call at the very least to inform us. Instead they just pretend that they never scheduled a start time in the first place. I hope they start taking some accountability and treating us with common courtesy. That's not too much to ask for. Satisfied customer ! We have newly purchased older home that needed new windows, gutters and portico over our front door entry way. GAE provided a quote in September of 2021 - due to (understandably & unavoidable) C19 and weather delays.... our work was completed by early May - without any material or labor increases. Great craftsmanship on the portico, swift & quick window installers and gutters went up as planned....all had to be timed with the portico build. Job well done !!! I had them replace my roof and part of the soffit. The crew they sent to do the work did a good job and cleaned up nice. The one area they could improve is communication and planning. They kept changing the ETA from next week to next month to I come home from work one day and surprise, I have a new soffit! After another few months and more issues, I'm lowering my review to 1 star. After seeing my review, Gramex sent someone to repair the wind damage to my mudroom door - he stuck a big nail through the giant tear in the door frame. So now the door works again but is ugly as hell. When my sliding door was installed, the workers realized that the door they were placing was larger than the one being removed. No idea how that happened? Whoever measured must have done it wrong, I guess. The installers' fix was to enlarge the doorway to fit the new door. They ended up cutting some unknown wires that I'm afraid were from my brand new radiant heat system. There are definitely cold areas that weren't there before. But that's not even the worst of it. I'm getting ready to sell my house now, and looking around for spots to repair. I noticed a new crack that runs from the doorway up to the bottom of a window on the second floor. I asked GRAMEX to come out to replace my screen that was damaged by wind & pets and when they sent someone, he took pics of the crack and took them to management. When he brought the screen back (as per this company's norm, he showed up without warning because nobody called to schedule a date or time), he confirmed my fears about the crack - they agreed that it was probably caused by installing a too-large door. I asked if they were going to, ya know, fix it. The installer said he'd ask his boss. I still haven't heard back, so I'm guessing I'm SOL. And ANOTHER concern - the guy had huge amounts of trouble getting the screen door out and back in - I'm guessing because it was installed upside down, which you can see by the upside down info stickers. read more

Called these guys asking for a quote to replace the exterior doors on my home. They REFUSED to come out unless both my wife and I would both be home. Don't waste your time - at least for windows. The scheduling requirement that both homeowners be there is both bizarre and inconvenient. We had several windows needing replacement or repair. The guy who came to give quote walked in and asked how old our house was and then told us it was time to replace all of the windows - without even so much as looking at a window. When it came time to talk cost, he was more interested in selling us a pergola for the backyard and then said it'll be $3,200 per window. None of the windows we were replacing are the same size mind you - but apparently cost the same to replace. He said he would email a detailed quote in a few days and weeks later it still hasn't arrived. No follow up at all. Just an unfortunate waste of time for us all. read more

I was under the impression I explained that I want my pool removed and I want a round poured concrete patio with a gas fire table in the center, I gave them $25k and they did that. Over a year later and I have a wood burning fire table over a gas line that I can not use and now their manager is impatient with me for calling to bother them about it. He suggested I call the fire table manufacturer and find out if clamps are included in the fire table because he doesn't have time to sit on hold and find out. I hired them because I don't even know what the clamps are or anything else about fire tables!! Apparently they don't either. Save your time, money and frustration and looks elsewhere. read more

We highly recommend Great American Exteriors. We had a small gutter replacement job that needed to be done. We told them it was small but they said they do any size job. When they came out for an estimate we decided to have our window trim replaced also. They rushed the job for us since we were having problems with water in the basement. Installer for both the gutters and trim were highly professional. They did a wonderful job and cleaned up after themselves. We will definitely used them again. read more

During a redo of our outside (Tudor style house) they did a great job putting up new Hardie boards up and even added additional lights to the front of our house. However they missed a board under the new door (purchased from them) so they just painted it and told me that they would come by when they were in the area with a Hardie board to cover / replace the board. I have called a couple of times and left message to have them call me with no follow up. I even mentioned it to the salesman when he came out for a new estimate for our sliding door and he said he would fix that and get us a new lock on the front door over a year ago). They came out to fix the lock but the board remains. They did good work on the front of the house but their follow-up is not good on the small items. So ai am still waiting on them to come out and put in a Hardie board under the front door. read more

I signed their contract and put down a deposit. After a 4+ month wait, I received a call from the owner demanding more money for the job. Specifically, 54% more than the agreed upon contractual price. I told the owner, we have a contract. He proceeded to insult and harass me and somehow deflected this onto me instead of taking ownership and doing the job. read more

I had Great American Exteriors install siding on my house years ago. I needed some siding replaced and called for an estimate. The salesman came out and tried to sell me new windows (they are 5 year old Pella windows). They just try to up sell. I needed 6 pieces of siding replaced and was told it would be $800.00. I was told they don't like to jobs under $1,000.00, he also tried selling me new siding for the whole house. I am so disappointed that they do not care about the customers and try to rip you off.. After a discussion on how the estimate went etc and me telling him I would not take my review down, even with a bribe of a $100 gift card, he told me my house was was a dump and fuck you. Such a professional! I would be cautious on using this business. I like to give business to my town's businesses. I called to get an estimate for windows and siding. After setting the appointment, they called back to ask if anyone else lived in the home. When I asked why, they proceeded to tell me that don't want to "waste" time coming out if not all decision makers were present. Their estimator came out who barely looked old enough to drive, and started with the bad "car salesmen" pitch including dropping in "how he needs to keep his daughter in horseback riding lessons". The estimate provided was complete price gauging, told me they would "price match" but everything had to be "exactly" the same - which smart people know is not possible. He then offered his "promotion" which he said $100 off would be a great promotion. The promotion was to knock $8K off if I agreed to provide advertising for his company - reviews, before and after pictures etc. But I had to sign the contract there on the spot - apparently him coming out again to sign a contract is worth 8K and therefore unless I signed immediately, the promotion was off the table. When I advised I was having more bids come in he wanted to know when the other companies were coming. That took a lot of.....well you know. Very happy with the work done by Great American Exteriors. This is the 2nd time we have used them. The installers are on time, do excellent work and you can't tell they were there after they left. Nothing for me to clean up. Really it all starts with Justin the sales mgr that came to my house 1st. However it didn't take a great sales job, with the quality of the product.
