Very nice sounding people, but they don't know what they are doing. I had them remove a glass block window and install an escape window. They cut the existing brick past the window lintel and did not extend the lintel. Without the lintel there is nothing supporting the brick above the window. As soon as the is a heavy weight on the roof (snow fall) the bricks will creep down on the window and eventually crush it. I've left many messages asking how they plan to fix it with no response. They charged my credit card without asking me, maybe I can contest the charges. My only option real is to get the security bond they put with the city permitting office and hopefully it is enough to cover another contractor fixing the job correctly. read more

Told us they do come to our area and put us down on the schedule just to cancel a month and half later on 8/25/25. Well I had to cancel now he says he is going to charge me $75 for canceling my well appointment and another $75 for canceling my window appointment which I told him I was not going to buy until I saw the window. Who buys something without even seeing what you're going to purchase - these people are insane! When it was time to get new window wells I called a number of places. Chris from Well Expert was terrific. This is a highly competitive product and Chris did not give me a price to have me call back, etc. Chris gave me the lowest price from the get go, also sent me a quick link to see how the covers are installed and answered all my questions. The other companies are newer to the window well cover business and gave me higher prices but then kept calling me back to try to get me to sign up with them at lower prices, still higher though than Well Expert. I really wanted to give them four stars but I here are the main reasons for my two star review. I had a great experience with the initial sales rep - Jake. He explained the process, worked with me on pricing for two different homes (Mine and my Father in law's) On the day of the scheduled installation, people showed up at my FIL's home, who is 80 some years old, without knocking on the door and letting him know who they were, or what they were about to do. He heard banging on the side of his house and was shocked to find a well expert individual working on the window wells. When I spoke to Jake and the owner of Well Expert (Debbie) they mentioned this Standard operating procedure. For most of us I guess this is ok, but elders like my FIL were not ok with that. The individual that showed up to work on the installation on our homes was incredibly rude. He told us that he is not required to talk to us or explain anything to us. He was going to perform his job and leave and all issues need to be communicated back to the corp via phone calls. I found this to be confusing because it required three phone calls to get basic answers while some one is drilling holes and installing things on your property. This individual was clearly having a bad day and gave him the benefit of the doubt and agreed with Debbie (the owner of weel expert) that this happens and its not under their control. She offered to reduce the cost of the overall install and I had agree with that. The straw that broke the camels back is that we order locked window wells and due to covid they cant go into your house and lock them for you. They simply leave a bag at he bottom of the well on one of the window wells that you are to find and lock them your self. I assured Well expert several times via phone calls and emails that we did not receive the locks for one of the homes. I am waiting two and half weeks now since the install to receive my locks in the mail with no end in sight. Overall bad experience and if you are looking for a peace of mind, this is not the company for you. read more

I bought a house and knew at some point we'd have to do something about our window wells. One year in and our window was leaking. I called well experts who came out and told me to replace my covers. Sold me over $1,000 for window well covers. Well less than 2 years later I'm downstairs and notice water coming in. I called customer service a few times and they never got back. I had other experts who came out and said it's a drainage problem. Note: Well Experts did not tell me it's a drainage problem. I finally get ahold of someone by calling for an estimate. They quote me $3,000. When I explain it's their work in question they offer me $200 off. They also explain that they didn't offer replacement wells at the time. So essentially when they came to assess my problem they sold me something that cost a lot of money and did not actually solve my problem. I also posted a review elsewhere and have been badgered by the owner about the inaccuracies in my review as he's highlighted they didn't offer replacement wells. I think that that is even worse because he's basically admitting that they sold me a useless solution because they didn't offer what would have honestly fixed it. I would have expected "we don't offer that, but you need that to be replaced". Instead I got "here you go, you need these custom covers! And for $2,700 more 2 years later-we can come and really fix your problem!" read more

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this company. In a day and age where service seems to be slowly, but surely becoming a thing of yesteryear, this entire transaction was a breath of fresh air. And no, I'm not some 70 year old coot saying this, I'm a 34 year old father of 2 who simply realizes that customer service is not what it used to be! From the time I put in an online inquiry, to the time my phone rang from a pleasantly warm and welcome rep from Well Expert (Chris) was no more than 2 or 3 hours. To put this in to perspective, some of the other companies I reached out to still haven't called me back and Well Expert has already finished the job! So, what did I have done? I have a single window well which serves as the access point to my crawl space on my small ranch home. Chris and his crew installed a Lexan well cover that is rated to withstand up to 800 lbs. and comes with a lifetime warranty. I won't call out specific pricing here because I happened to get this done while they were running a promotion, but all I can say is that the price was MORE than fair. While one company in the area told me something along the lines of "we'll put you on a list and give you a call when we're in the area" (really?), Chris told me on a Wednesday at 5:00 pm, "we can be there Monday morning!" Of course, we pulled the trigger without hesitation. The finished product is a perfect fit. They measure on site and then cut the material right there using a template as a guide. They have the appropriate hardware to affix to the well, regardless of the material and it honestly looks like it's a part of the home that has been there all along. I honestly can't say enough good about how positive a transaction this whole process was. I paid over the phone, but they didn't charge my card until I had time to review the work and confirm that all looked good. Really, the whole process was just an absolute home run. I'll happily recommend this company to any of my friends or neighbors who are looking to have nice, contemporary covers put on their unsightly window wells. Keep up the great work, Well Expert! Oh and for what it's worth, Chris' level of professionalism, courtesy and warmth should seriously merit a raise. I don't know what this guy gets paid to do his job, but I can assure you it's not enough. read more

I sent a photo to Adam the sales consultant for an estimate. I just recently bought the house and explained that I have never had window wells before. He quoted me a price based off a picture and measurement. Never did he say to open the well and take paictures. The covers were in bad shape and could not be seen through. He never asked if there were grates underneath, nor did he explain if there were grates underneath that the job would have been done differently. when the installer came , he did not mention the grates would not be put back on, so after he installed them, he did not include the grates and when i wanted them added back on he had to add more holes to the cover, which i was not happy about, and the installer himself said the covers needed to be re done but he did not have any more material in his truck. I also wanted to add locks to the covers which he said they would send the longer pins as he did not have them with him (which i was sent shorter pins and they had to have another installer come out with longer pins. Also the holes he made for the pins were covered with the grate so the new installer had to drill through the grate to allow the pins to drop through. I spoke with Danielle at the front desk and told her that all the extra holes were unacceptable and was told they would not be fixing them. I ended up speaking with debbie (the owner) who was the most abrasive, arrogant, for a better term BITCH to deal with. She said she could care less if i bought new covers, left the same cover, but threatened to put a lien on my house if I did not pay the bill, she could care less that the customer was not happy. Absolutely poor customer service and horrible company. I explained that her sales people should have asked about grates and if i wanted it left on there, which she in turn told me to take accountability that it was my fault about the grates. They are the professionals and when I explained I never had window wells, and that is the reason I was calling her company. ABSOLUTELY would NEVER recommend or use this company again. 12/2021 5* The team here is amazing! Great help with all my questions and how to pick the right product for my installation. We did 4 basement windows. One was an emergency escape window. So they suggested to put the locking pins in place. I believe it is called the SmartLock System. Great ideas. They gave me the pins to install myself as it is in my house, so they can't do it. Easy enough to install. The only thing I would say to improve it is to upsell the little key chain flags I put on myself. They are in my pictures. Can get many colors, but ordered them off Amazon. They say "Remove before flight". Made for Remote Control airplanes. I used them to help someone in the dark or an emergency situation, when people are not always thinking clearly. I attached them to the cotter pins so anyone could find them by reaching around even in the dark. Just give a yank now, and the pins would come out. Easier to find and pull than if only the pins themselves. That would be my only suggestion. Otherwise, they were very courteous and easy to work with. Cleaned up after they were done. And the product seems pretty good so far. read more

We live in a Monterey model home in Hanover Park that had three original basement hopper style windows. I initially thought it would be hard to find replacements that would be an exact fit for the poured in place steel foundation window frames. Water recesses on the custom covers they installed a little over a year ago. When asked about it they offered to charge me an additional $200 to add 2" risers. Adding a slight pitch to window well covers is common sense, but they didn't do it during the original install. Also, the larger egress cover is warped. For the price they charge, I would expect a better product and service. When I asked them to stand behind their product and install the risers under warranty, they went silent on me. read more

Chris responded to me within 1 day to go over some other questions to provide me an accurate quote. The price they quoted was $10 cheaper than a "standard" window well cover from Home Depot. The customer window well Chris quoted me was custom sized to our exact window well size, included a vertical adapter to cover the window portion which rose above the well, a lifetime warranty, holds 800 lbs, and included installation! The "standard" cover did none of those things. I submitted the request for quote Wednesday, heard back from Chris on Thursday, finished details over the phone on Friday and had my new window well cover installed on Monday!
