We were lied to the minute we walked in. We were told it would be a 10-minute wait. It was about a 25-minute wait. The server was nice until after seating us, as she decided not to serve us. She got our drink orders wrong and delivered them to the wrong guests. We had to play the matching game by sipping each other's drinks. And she never came by to refill. We had to ask. It took forever for us to order our food. And our food didn't get to us until almost an entire hour after ordering. Ummm that was horrible. We were sitting for almost two hours before food got to us. Two of our orders of steaks were ordered as medium-rare, and our steaks were dry AF. I told the waitress that we wanted a new steak, and she brought back the steak while flashing a flashlight over it to defend her cook, saying it is medium-rare and to look at it again. Never have I ever experienced a flashlight being used over our food to prove a non-valid point. At this point, I was so freakin hungry that I did not want to argue, and so I ate the dry steak. Do yourself a favor and take a drive to Victoria's Steakhouse. We were there a couple of days prior to visiting this restaurant and they have the perfect medium rare steak! A great end of the day dinner! First timers, Our party of 4 ended up ordering the same steak 8 oz Filet. It came with two sides, Baked Beans & Cole Slaw then you got to pick your side. The steak was cooked perfect and tasted great! I did end up with the wrong baked potato but it was delicious. I'm not a loaded potato fan but I still ate it! Sadly, I did not get the pics of the other two side as for the table, Creamed Corn & Mac n Cheese. Creamed Corn was great but I'm not a Mac n Cheese guy so I passed. The Baked Beans were unique and I really like them! Same for the Cole Slaw - a Mayo based slaw that was served cold and was quite delicious. They also had some great lemonade! Great food, very disappointing service at the end of our meal. I unfortunately feel cheated and ripped off. Party of 5, 3 of us ordered the (I think famous) steakburger. Menu states American cheese included. Waiter in training mentioned we can sub fries for other sides, which we did (regular and not premium sides were selected). Bill came out with cheese being charged on burgers (99 cents each) and the swap outs were also charged (99 cents each). I asked waiter about this and his response was "did you expect that for free" and "this is how I ring them up". I asked to speak to the manager and was told that getting the manager to fix anything takes over an hour. Waiter then tells me to "just take it out of my tip". I felt bad given service was decent up to this point so I left a decent tip. As a visitor to El Paso, I always enjoy coming in for a great steak burger. It did not look good! I literally felt like it was one of those thin steaks from a family pack at Walmart. The "loaded" baked potato came with a few bits. I had to ask for butter and sour cream. It was also supposed to come with beans and the server never brought them. When I asked about them, the server said they weren't ready even though all the other tables had them. Great American Steakhouse 1300 Airway Blvd. El Paso, TX RE: A Review We had a small group of family celebrating a memorial service and decided to go to the new Great American Steakhouse on Airway. Upon entering (noon - 12:00 pm) the room was dark. It was decorated with dark wood paneling, plastic ivy hanging from the ceiling, collection of wine bottles and chandeliers providing little light. The look was nice, upscale, but dark for this time of day. Once we were taken to our table we were given menus. The menus were in dark manuals, dark pages, and dark small font. We were unable to read. We asked our server if they could turn up lights. We were told they were turned up as high as they would go. My table and other dinners had cell phones out with lights on to read the menu. Obviously, the designer, for this restaurant, did not take this into consideration when these decisions were being made. Major mistake. We finally ordered our food. When it was delivered it seemed that the kitchen was working with a new crew. I hope, since the food was cold, poorly seasoned, side items missing, and poorly presented. Nothing like the pictures in their dark menu book. I feel that the restaurant and kitchen staff did not evaluate or test the food items before placing them on their menu. This from items as simple as a burger where I would challenge the 1/2 lb of beef, the bun to meat ratio was off and the burger had to be eaten with a fork because the bun was falling apart. I also ordered medium rare and it was delivered well done. Other issues noted was the steak was dry and over cooked, salmon was under cooked, and chicken tacos were cold and not seasoned and the 3 sauces were off. I must compliment the serving and taste of your Tortilla soup, it was beautiful. Shame that this level of attention and taste was not given to all items served. When our server finally came to check on our table, I communicated to her the issues we were having. I found it interesting that she just apologized. She never offered anything to correct the issue. I found it interesting that the manager did not stop by and check on our table. I did see our server talk with someone that I thought was the manager. Upon checkout she stood behind, away from my table. However, she never came forward. Additional note: dinners should be aware, since restaurant staff does not inform or communicated: 1) gratitude is added to your tab with tables of 6 or more, and 2) service charge is added to your tab when using a credit card. This was a very poor and unfortunate experience. This was not a fast-food restaurant, and this was confirmed when I received and paid the tab. Upon walking in, the establishment looked upscale, with country playing. I sat at the bar and ordered my food. The bartender was attentive. COLD... but by then the waitress had walked away... 15 minutes later, the lovely appeared doe-eyed and earnest, after serving MASS QUANTITIES to the two party tables, finally seeing if everything was okay... and just catching her before she turned away, I asked for a refill of the long-depleated pepsi and a request to re-heat or the cold-as-a-corpse rib eye. She politely complied with some feigned astonishment, but returned shortly thereafter with a steak that could have been warmed by a few moments in the August El Paso sun... which is to say, not very warm at all. I could smell it as it came out of the kitchen. Smelled rancid. Server ignored us repeatedly. We didn't get drinks until 15 minutes after we sat down. Tasty steaks and burgers with a modern and Phoenix like upscale ambiance. I have been at the Great American Steak House several times and their lunch menu is terrific. The service is always better than at Corralito as they have more dedicated staff and it seems that the waiters are just trying harder. I like their beans and coleslaw side dishes that alway comes as a side order. Burgers and steaks are cooked a la minute so you can be sure it is fresh and done according to your order. Our waitress was absolutely delightful she came to our table several times to make sure everything was good. You can see that the staff is well trained. We will be back. read more

I'm here at the great american in NORTHEAST el paso. (NOT the Airways Location!) The server Michelle is a sweetheart so ask for her as your server. That being said, I asked for the cream corn and the cook lied to the server and said they were out, yet, they opened half an hour prior. They served beans that turned out to be VERY sour; the server tasted the beans for me and agreed with me that something was definitely wrong with them. Then, w ed were lied to again and was told they were out of beans. (At 1330 hrs!) When I spoke to the new manager Alondra, who had just arrived at work, she went out of her way to right the wrong and gave me a discount. She then brought me a creamed corn and double the beans!! Family of six, and every single dish we received was either cold, overdone, or looked like it had been sitting under the warmer forever. I showed him my plate of what was supposed to be a moist short rib doused in gravy and with mushrooms (pic), he said he would fix it...only for him to put the same piece of meat back in a takeout box with some mushrooms and cherry tomatoes.
