Hi, maybe don't run an unsupervised petting zoo especially if your goat gives birth, left unable to save their baby, forcing a guest to try and intervene after inaction from staff. According to witnesses, the manager was seen looking at the petting zoo from afar before stepping back inside the restaurant. This sets a horrible precedent for the business, and if anything, it should tell you to step away from animal care all together if this is the negligence we should expect the next time this happens. read more

This place is out there. The place is older but they keep it clean and really focus on service. You can walk around the property and see the horses and other animals. It's a nice place but is pricey. The food was good. The pineapple slaw was okay but seemed like a strange choice for a steakhouse. Either way it's a cool place and they were packed. This place was a little bit of a drive for us on our vacation. I was a little hesitant if it was the correct place for us to go for dinner. Once we arrive, we was able to see how amazing the working branch was, and that the restaurant was exactly as pictured. The things to look on the inside while you wait was cool to see. I've never been to a ranch before, but I'm glad my first time was Cattleman's. As our family waited to be seated, we went to the back to see and feed the ranch animals. The ranch has an ostrich, rabbits, goats, horses, sheep, peacocks, and buffalo. We were able to feed the goats and rabbits for a quarter. There's also a lakeside view that is stunning during sunset and you can see the geese on the water/flying as night falls. After an hour of waiting, our party of 14 was seated. The interior of the ranch really made you feel like you were in a cabin in the rural countryside, but a nice and cozy cabin and not a wild west saloon. The waiter had a heavy but jolly Southern accent and took care of us for the night. The food was served in large portions, with ginormous ribs, steaks, and sides. Bread, butter, coleslaw and baked beans are refillable throughout the night so my partner and I opted for a 14 oz ribeye with corn on the cob and beef brisket and ribs with curly fries so we wouldn't get full too fast. The ribeye, which I got medium rare, was well seasoned and super tender. The beef brisket and ribs were also tasty and had a smoky flavor paired with tasty barbecue sauce. The piña colada we ordered, initially a little sweet, was great when paired with the savory food. For the tasty food, large portions, and mini zoo, the experience was worth the money. When I found out I was going to El Paso for the first time (for a work trip), it was unanimous from my coworkers that Cattleman's was a must. I'm a big steak guy and knowing that this was a restaurant on an actual ranch intrigued me. I was concerned since it was a bit of a drive but it was well worth it. This restaurant is obviously older with a lot of history, the zoo was a surprise, and the food was fantastic. There's a lot to see when you get there. Once you get seated and your food ordered, you can walk around the restaurant and see the historic memorabilia at the front, the movie memorabilia in the back of all the famous films that were filmed there, or go out on the back deck and check out the beautiful scenery. After dinner, be sure to check all the animals. The steakhouse reminds me of a steakhouse back outside of Nashville. It's old school and the menu even has the same font. Obviously in Texas, you go big and because my favorite food is steak, I went for the biggest, The Cowboy (a 2lb T-Bone) with a baked potato and mushrooms. The coleslaw, beans, and bread were complimentary. The steak was great, cooked to a perfect medium rare with light seasoning. Although it's not the best steak I've had (it needed a bit more salt), it hit the spot of what I was craving and I ate the entire thing. The baked potato came plain and came with butter and sour cream. The mushrooms were interesting... They were sweet but the waitress told me they would be. Very unique twist! The coleslaw also had a unique twist, it had pineapple chunks in it. I think this is a Texas thing because other Texas restaurants I visited had the same thing. Finally the baked beans were interesting as well. It tasted more like chili due to the cumin seasoning added to it. I ate everything you saw in my pictures. We've been talking about coming to Cattleman's for years and we finally did it! The ranch is literally off the beaten path and it had us wondering if we were going in the right direction, but before you knew it, we saw it peeking from the horizon. The only thing I didn't care for was the cheese with green chilis because they used canned chilis. Dessert was the house cheesecake. This place is on our must-visit list when we travel to El Paso. What and experience the Cattlemen's Steakhouse is! First you drive East from El Paso on I-10 for 20 minutes into the desert. Then you exit into rolling desert hills with no real sign of civilization for another 5 miles. Finally, you see this massive restaurant perched on the side of a hill; the steaks are near. We were seated immediately and our drink order was promptly taken. We waited a bit for the wait staff to take our food order, but they were extremely busy at the time. My wife and I ordered the NY Strip, daughter ordered the top sirloin, and my son ordered the ribeye. All steaks were cooked perfectly to our order. The sides were delicious as well, with the highlight being the pineapple Cole slaw, but closely followed by the rolls, chili beans, and the rice with peppers and bacon. The building and ambiance is exactly what you would think that a Texas steakhouse would be. Rustic design, cowboy paraphernalia, and friendly faces. What an amazing experience!! Quite the drive out of El Paso but well worth it if you have the time. Had the ribeye and baked potato with ranch beans and their signature coleslaw. I can't say anything bad about any of it rather than they made me eat way too much! The food is outstanding but they also have quite the history. This is a working range where they've also had a number of movie film. My understanding is that it also operates as a dude ranch where people can come out and ride for the day. This used to be one of my favorite places growing up, but my recent experience completely changed that. During the last major storm, the flooding was so bad that customers couldn't leave for hours. When we approached the manager for help or guidance, they showed no concern at all. That lack of basic care for people's safety was really disappointing. We had even been considering this venue for a wedding, but after seeing how little they value customers on a human level, we decided against it. The drink server was awesome and recommend us very delicious drinks like the Mango paleta (tasted like a mango paradise) and the bloody Maria which was delicious. We were a large part (9) and weren't sure what we were going to deal with as far as seating arrangements and wait time, but once we arrived the restaurant we didn't wait too long and there was plenty of seating for waiting. The place is huge and it accommodates large parties really well. Perfect location for celebratory occasions. However, once we got called up, three members of our party were in the restroom and our hostess wouldn't take us to our table until they were back. That was very odd. Once we got seated, we got greeted by our cocktail server who took our drink order and informed us that we were going to then be greeted by our main server to take our entree orders afterwards, this was confusing. Once our main server came around, she was not welcoming, but more rushed and borderline annoyed about the questions we had about the menu. It felt like she wanted to take our orders right away and get going. Didn't feel welcoming at all. It turns out that most of your entrees are served with beans, Cole slaw and bread with butter by default in "family style format" This was different but I enjoyed it a lot. Out of these three "all you can eat" items, my favorite was the Pineapple Cole Slaw. Nice and refreshing. Wish the bread could've been warm. Moving on to my dish, I ordered the Little Wrangler, Sirloin - Medium, with a loaded baked potato. I really enjoyed my meal a lot. The steak was nicely cooked and was very pleased with the flavor. It was also a perfect portion (plus the all you can eat items) for someone who doesn't want to feel too stuffed after their meal. My husband had the ribs and beef meal, and I had a bite of ribs since they looked really good, but it lacked flavor.. Overall it was a good time, not a great time mostly because of the service. I'd give it another shot and come back next time we are in town, probably would order the same thing and spend more time on the property checking out the animals and learning more about the history of the restaurant. From TX and I have smoked my fair share of beef ribs and these were definitely not up to par. The meat was tough and lacked the good pepper flavor you get when smoking a good pepper rubbed piece of beef. We ended up taking the ribs and brisket home and i cut them from the bone to continue to cook and add to dishes this week. The sides: coleslaw- amazing, spicy beans tasted great but if you are going to describe them as spicy, then they should be spicy. Baked potatoes were large and came with plenty of toppings. Rolls were bland but once you add the butter, that gave them flavor. Dessert: Cheesecake - good size portion and was delicious. Definitely the experience was good. Frequent refills of our drinks and coffee without the interaction. The waitress would simply come in, quietly refill and go about her way. We liked the attentiveness. We ordered the beef (brisket), 14 oz ribeye medium rare, full rack of ribs, mushrooms, and herbed butter with the corn on the cob and baked potato. Mushrooms were cooked in a sweet wine sauce. Super good. Not sure what herbs were in the butter, had an interesting flavor. Tasty on the steak. The butter and sour cream tasted homemade. Maybe the sour cream wasn't but it tasted different to us. Both were really good. The ribeye was the winner. Soft, juicy, cooked to perfection which was super important to us because we do not like overcooked meat. Medium rare is the way to go. Ribs were also good, bbq was good. Brisket maybe would've been better sliced but in a big chunk like that it was a bit dry but dipped in bbq sauce was good. The brisket did come attached to a very fatty peace which was delicious. In the future, I would likely do the full rack of ribs again and two 14 oz ribeyes. The complimentary sides they provide were also good. My son loved the spicy ranch beans. The pineapple Cole slaw was super good. And they provided soft semi sweet dinner buns with butter. We also had two desserts, the apple pie with ice cream and the pecan pie without. Tasty apple pie. Super good pecan pie. We left stuffed, and with two boxes, two containers and some dessert of leftovers. All for $145. It was nice to see less on the bill than I expected, and so many leftovers for that price. I will say this, though, in case Cattleman's Steakhouse reads my review: if you bake the potato with a light coating of olive oil and sprinkle with salt, that would make it much better! My wife and family told me about this place so we had to come for a visit while in town. A true Texas steakhouse with the ranch vibe all throughout. We had split the Cowgirl baked potato and all the fixins plus a chocolate cake a la mode.
