The staff was incredibly accommodating, and our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and so helpful with recommendations. The amuse-bouche of watermelon with Tajín-style seasoning was a refreshing and thoughtful start. The wedge salad was the standout of the night, generously portioned, perfect for sharing, and absolutely delicious. The pesto spaghetti was equally impressive, with a beautifully balanced sauce that wasn't overpowering. I ordered the miso black cod, which was cooked perfectly and beautifully flaky. While it leaned a bit salty for my taste, the quality of the dish still stood out. The ambiance is dark and intimate, perfect for an upscale dinner, and the iPad menus were a helpful modern touch. I was there with a work group of 14, we were sat at 6:30. The table ordered 6 appetizers, to include the carne Apacha and that was great. We also ordered the Foie Gras, let me say I love a nice seared foie gras, this was not that at all. It was more of a pate, and was ok. The table had previously ordered the oysters while we were drinking at the Dome and all I heard was that they tasted off. We placed our main plates @ 7 pm, I and a few others ordered the ribeye, it was not worth the $86 a plate. Our food came an hour and a half later, we were all ready to leave. Mind you the only other table that was there when we ordered was a two top and a three top that had received their food already. The ribeyes were cold some over cooked, some under cooked and it was just not good. I can cut my own steaks from Sam's and have a better meal. Their food never disappoints. I love their steaks, especially the A5 Wagyu strip loin and Texas Wagyu ribeye. The flavor is excellent and temperature is just right to my liking. Michael usually serves me there and he does an excellent job, but last Friday Roberto served me and he did the same excellent service. The ambiance is very good and it was quiet for a Friday night. They gave me an amuse bouche, choice of bread (you can pick from 4 different choices) with three different kinds of butter- I liked the grilled jalapeno butter- it was unique. I ordered the Texas Wagyu ribeye with grilled carrots, asparagus and bokchoy. Then they gave me a sorbet in sparkling wine to cleanse my palate- that was refreshing! This is probably the most expensive restaurant in El Paso, so if you just want to impress someone, this could be a good option. The food was all excellent and the ambiance is nice - but very dark. Older people may find themselves frustrated with how dim the lighting is in the evening (the iPhone flashlight comes in handy). I've dined in this restaurant probably 3-4 times and the service is typically excellent. The one thing I did find shocking was they charge $22/bottle for 750mL sparkling or still water. For me and one guest the total bill was $370 after tip... $88 before tax and tip was just for the 2 sparkling and 2 still waters we had. Only one alcoholic drink was ordered and - ironically - it was about 1/2 the cost of a bottle of water. The tomato soup was nothing special (not worth the price), but the filet is always perfect and the pesto spaghetti with scallops are a must to pair with the steak if you want more than just a small side. Potatoes were excellent and the truffle Mac is decent (but not outstanding). For dessert we shared a Baked Alaska... and for the presentation, that is probably the best deal on the menu. For special occasions or impressing a prospect or client, this is a more intimate setting and a good choice. If you want a solid steak at a reasonable price, there are better options - but you won't have your pick of fancy steak knives If the pricing was more reasonable (even $10-12 for a bottled water), this would be a 5-star option. This is a beautiful setting and the service is excellent. If the New York steak had been better this would be a 5 start review. My husband and I both got the New York and found it tough and difficult to chew. I would say only 2/3 of the steak was edible. We should have sent it back. That is our mistake. This restaurant is known as a fine steakhouse so I don't think our expectations were out of line. The steak was not restaurant quality. On a positive note, the vegetables, soup, salad and desert were great. Because of the setting and service, I will go again but will not get steak. I'm not sure what happened to this spot but wow has the food and even service gone down hill from June 2023 when we last ate here. We made reservations for our 1st marriage anniversary no less and not one person at the front desk for our time. We had to get a bartender from the Dome Bar to find someone. I was raving to my husband about how excited I was to get their Caesar salad again and explained in detail why. It was exquisite to me with the fresh lettuce and in house baked parm crisps and its presentation. I also remember their mac and cheese all too well so I was excited to order both. Saddest version of that expensive salad EVER. Not even the right lettuce for a Caesar Salad. Our waiter even forgot to bring it out completely and I had to ask for it. It made me think the chef threw it together last minute. It was a completely different salad, wrong leaves, wrong presentation, and the worst part? Store bought parm crisps. There was no doubt in my mind because of their shape, staleness, and complete change from the two times I ordered it before. As much as I don't want to get into the mac and cheese, this was what also highly disappointed me! Not even macaroni shells were used! They just used whatever pasta they seemed to have left which was rotini and decided it no longer needed to be served in their usual hot cast iron dish to keep it warm even. 1700 Degrees Steakhouse is by far my favorite steakhouse in El Paso, and maybe even anywhere?! I'll go further to say that in El Paso, it is hands down my favorite "Fine Dining" spot. I know typically we are to add photos of the decor and the food, but I also added a few of my lady and I actually at the front staircase, or at the table sharing champagne etc., so that you can see what we are wearing and use that as validation for the "fine dining" claims i just made. The gem is tucked in on the first floor of the infamous Paso Del Norte Hotel, and right next to the magnificently appointed "Dome Bar", just beyond the hotels lobby. Amazing leather chairs, marble floor, fresh white linens and table cloths, this place is well suited for dress up dates. However, there is no official dress code. I assume it's because this is in a hotel and not every guest is going to flip flop down from the rooftop pool in a suit. But, no matter what you wear down there - bring your wallet. Fine dining clothes accepted but not required. Fine dining prices though - check! Each time I've been here I go for one thing and one thing only: the A5 Japanese Wagyu. Oh my gosh - it melts in your mouth. Don't get it well done. Don't add sauce. Don't do anything but order it, and eat it. And I recommend the truffle Mac and cheese as well. They have some nice desert options, and a very classy after dinner drink service. As you can see in the photos, they even have you hand select the steak knife you want to use, which is not only cool, but pretty classy as well. Full bar for you drinkers there and a very robust cocktail and wine list. Great for special nights. On our special night (me lady's birthday), they gave her a dessert, the bottle of champagne and even escorted us up to the roof top bar after dinner and had the bar tender comp us one drink each. Granted, it was a birthday celebration, we had reservations, and ordered steaks that ran us north of $500... but still, it was the treatment that did it for me. Came here to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. It's located in the the beautiful Hotel Paso De Norte on the first floor. Our reservation time was on a Sunday, shortly after they opened and there were fewer people inside at that time. Alberto was a great waiter and attentive. I had the filet with garlic whipped mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were delicious and my filet was cooked well but was lacking seasoning. You have the option to pair it with a sauce. I wish they had more options for their sides. My husband enjoyed his food and overall, we were happy with our experience. Every time I stop by here, I'm smitten with its elegant ambiance. Prompt and very friendly service. Amazing steakhouse in the heart of downtown El Paso. I had the bone marrow to start and it was like butter melting in my mouth, a must try. Their wine and spirits list is great, I had a bourbon sour with Bulleit bourbon. I had the Australian wagyu for dinner and it's one of the best pieces of meat I've ever had. I wish I'd have taken a picture even though it wouldn't have done it justice for how delicious it was. My waitress was so sweet and attentive. This place has a very nice ambiance, how ever the table and chair selection needs to be reconsidered. The chairs are large and very cushioned, but it causes you to sit low. The tables are over sized, so they feel high with the chairs. Also, sitting across from someone you feel very separated. My wife and I couldn't reach across the table to hold hands without one of us standing up. The food was lacking for the price you pay. I had a filet mignon for $53 the first one that was brought out was very over cooked. I sent it back, because for that price it should be right. The new one took about 25 minutes to come out, and was half the size of the original one. The fire roasted vegetables were delicious though. I liked the side much more than the steak. The seasoning was not especially to my liking, but still, they were very good. I enjoyed the wedge salad, which was conveniently pre-cut and easy to handle, while my wife enjoyed her soup. We shared the Porterhouse steak, and it was cooked to perfection. It was very tender and flavorful. The wines offered also met with our complete satisfaction. So I came here with high expectations, but honestly I was disappointed. They're cocktail menu to begin with, lacks imagination and creativity, as does their starter menu. Nothing special, just the basics. We originally wanted the oysters, which they were out of. So then we went for the crab cake and the fried olives. The crab cake was the equivalent of a crab cake you buy frozen at Sam's. The fried olives were interesting, but they should have been paired with a dipping sauce at the very least. So I can pass the cocktail menu and appetizers being mediocre, but let's get to the food... First off if you are going to serve filet miñon, then you better sure as hell know how to cook it. Which they did not, a perfect one should be cooked at the most medium rare, and that is what I ordered. What I got was medium well, for me, messing up a filet miñon is truly unforgivable. It was over cooked and even over charred. It's like I was eating carnitas, instead of a fine steak. And the "The Red Wine Demi" was more of a watery mess than an actual glaze. My husband got the lamb 2 ways, and it came with sweet canned beans???? Which were gross!!!! And let me tell you it was only really good one way, which was the rack. The other one was like blended lamb patty and was not even edible. For a place of this caliber I would expect better, far better. This restaurant did not offer that, and honestly I would not even bother coming back. Overpriced mediocre drinks, appetizers, and steaks is what this place has to offer. And trust me I know my steaks, my father is a chef and owned a steak house for most of my life... I'm just really tired of these "high end" places popping up in EP and really sucking. It's like, just because we are a small city it does not mean we do not know what good quality food is!! I've been here twice with work colleagues. The first time was exceptional. Great service and the steak was incredible. My second trip, not so good. The waiter must have been in a big hurry to get us processed and out the door. Being rushed to order food is F'n rude and ruins the dining experience. Denis and I each ordered the Prisoner wine which was listed at $13 per glass. When the bill arrived, we were looking at $96 for four glasses of wine. We questioned the impatient waiter who advised us there was a $13 Prisoner wine and a $22 Prisoner wine. Besides charging us $24 for a $22 glass, he should have mentioned there were two different types of Prisoner wine. Next, our friend ordered two Manhattans. They charged us $2 for the round ice cube. Seriously? An up charge for an ice cube? Give me a break 1700, we ain't coming back. read more

Wanted to have a nice dinner with some coworkers and we decided to go here. Reservations were made for 1730, but they were still setting the table up when we arrived. This led to us having to wait in the dome bar area for a few minutes, but since they had just barely opened this wasn't too unexpected. Several of us had drinks, and overall the staff did a pretty good job of asking if we wanted another whenever they got low. They also did a good job of keeping the water glasses refilled. Pretty decent selection of spirits, but the prices were a bit eye watering. As far as entrees, I ordered the porterhouse with asparagus and baby mushrooms. One person ordered the bone in ribeye, and a couple ordered the filet. All steaks were cooked as desired, which is always nice. The feedback on the ribeye was that it was "okay" but that they had better at other locations in El Paso. For me, the porterhouse wasn't a great choice. The light levels in the restaurant are very low, and so trying to cut around a bone-in cut of meat was frustrating. Flavor was good, but I would also agree that I have had better steaks at other local places. There were a couple of the chocolate plates ordered for dessert. When they arrived both people who got them were exclaiming how good they were. When we finally paid and left it was 2030. I was surprised that it took that long to be honest. I went for Christmas dinner with my family of 3. We loved the experience. Good quality of service and we got to choose our own steak knives. They had a pretty good wine selection. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller and it was delicious. We added some bone marrow for starters as well. We had our eyes on the dry aged rib eye, but that night they sold out. We settled for prime bone-in rib eye. IMO, it was good, but I've had better. While I cannot recall the name of the pasta we ordered, I remember that it could use more truffle. It was an overall good experience. The atmosphere was quiet, comfortable and relaxed with dimly lit tables. My son pointed out he could use more light. read more
