World-class!!! #ThisIsTheWay! I am a world traveler. I have been fortunate enough to dine at some of the finest steakhouses around. Each has been magnificent in their own way. And I will go back to each. However, if you asked me for the most unique and best, 1700 would win. Especially if you get Taylor as your host/server. Taylor's knowledge is at a level that we call: Craftsmanship. Every detail is explained at a level you will enjoy. It turns into education and entertainment. And then the presentation of the knives. Each cuts your main course differently. Choose wisely. Thank you 1700 for allowing me into your home.

This is probably the most expensive restaurant in El Paso, so if you just want to impress someone, this could be a good option. The food was all excellent and the ambiance is nice - but very dark. Older people may find themselves frustrated with how dim the lighting is in the evening (the iPhone flashlight comes in handy). I've dined in this restaurant probably 3-4 times and the service is typically excellent. The one thing I did find shocking was they charge $22/bottle for 750mL sparkling or still water. For me and one guest the total bill was $370 after tip... $88 before tax and tip was just for the 2 sparkling and 2 still waters we had. Only one alcoholic drink was ordered and - ironically - it was about 1/2 the cost of a bottle of water. The tomato soup was nothing special (not worth the price), but the filet is always perfect and the pesto spaghetti with scallops are a must to pair with the steak if you want more than just a small side. Potatoes were excellent and the truffle Mac is decent (but not outstanding). For dessert we shared a Baked Alaska... and for the presentation, that is probably the best deal on the menu. For special occasions or impressing a prospect or client, this is a more intimate setting and a good choice. If you want a solid steak at a reasonable price, there are better options - but you won't have your pick of fancy steak knives If the pricing was more reasonable (even $10-12 for a bottled water), this would be a 5-star option. For the price, though, overall 4.1/5

I'm not sure what happened to this spot but wow has the food and even service gone down hill from June 2023 when we last ate here. We made reservations for our 1st marriage anniversary no less and not one person at the front desk for our time. We had to get a bartender from the Dome Bar to find someone. I was raving to my husband about how excited I was to get their Caesar salad again and explained in detail why. It was exquisite to me with the fresh lettuce and in house baked parm crisps and its presentation. I also remember their mac and cheese all too well so I was excited to order both. Saddest version of that expensive salad EVER. Not even the right lettuce for a Caesar Salad. Our waiter even forgot to bring it out completely and I had to ask for it. It made me think the chef threw it together last minute. It was a completely different salad, wrong leaves, wrong presentation, and the worst part? Store bought parm crisps. There was no doubt in my mind because of their shape, staleness, and complete change from the two times I ordered it before. As much as I don't want to get into the mac and cheese, this was what also highly disappointed me! Not even macaroni shells were used! They just used whatever pasta they seemed to have left which was rotini and decided it no longer needed to be served in their usual hot cast iron dish to keep it warm even. Luke warm rotini and cheese anyone? NO THANK YOU. The chef made a small attempt at acknowledging our special occasion with a complimentary dessert for us. It was nice however did not justify the obvious appetizers and main course blunders. I may not want to come back ever after this encounter.

Every dining experience I've had at 1700 has been nothing short of amazing. They exceed the mark on their menu choices, service, and atmosphere. On one of my latest visits I was enjoying myself so much with my company that we lost track of time and ended up staying the entire dinner service. Our server, Taylor, took such great care of us.

1700 Degrees Steakhouse is by far my favorite steakhouse in El Paso, and maybe even anywhere?! I'll go further to say that in El Paso, it is hands down my favorite "Fine Dining" spot. I know typically we are to add photos of the decor and the food, but I also added a few of my lady and I actually at the front staircase, or at the table sharing champagne etc., so that you can see what we are wearing and use that as validation for the "fine dining" claims i just made. The gem is tucked in on the first floor of the infamous Paso Del Norte Hotel, and right next to the magnificently appointed "Dome Bar", just beyond the hotels lobby. Amazing leather chairs, marble floor, fresh white linens and table cloths, this place is well suited for dress up dates. However, there is no official dress code. I assume it's because this is in a hotel and not every guest is going to flip flop down from the rooftop pool in a suit. But, no matter what you wear down there - bring your wallet. Fine dining clothes accepted but not required. Fine dining prices though - check! Each time I've been here I go for one thing and one thing only: the A5 Japanese Wagyu. Oh my gosh - it melts in your mouth. Don't get it well done. Don't add sauce. Don't do anything but order it, and eat it. And I recommend the truffle Mac and cheese as well. They have some nice desert options, and a very classy after dinner drink service. As you can see in the photos, they even have you hand select the steak knife you want to use, which is not only cool, but pretty classy as well. Full bar for you drinkers there and a very robust cocktail and wine list. Great for special nights. On our special night (me lady's birthday), they gave her a dessert, the bottle of champagne and even escorted us up to the roof top bar after dinner and had the bar tender comp us one drink each. Granted, it was a birthday celebration, we had reservations, and ordered steaks that ran us north of $500... but still, it was the treatment that did it for me. Very professional, polite, and special. I'm not huge on steaks. But I am huge on 1700, and the Wagyu, and fine dining. And this place is my go-to for all three!

Came here to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. It's located in the the beautiful Hotel Paso De Norte on the first floor. Our reservation time was on a Sunday, shortly after they opened and there were fewer people inside at that time. Alberto was a great waiter and attentive. I had the filet with garlic whipped mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were delicious and my filet was cooked well but was lacking seasoning. You have the option to pair it with a sauce. I wish they had more options for their sides. My husband enjoyed his food and overall, we were happy with our experience. I did not like any of the desserts we ordered and thought they were underwhelming.

Amazing steakhouse in the heart of downtown El Paso. I had the bone marrow to start and it was like butter melting in my mouth, a must try. Their wine and spirits list is great, I had a bourbon sour with Bulleit bourbon. I had the Australian wagyu for dinner and it's one of the best pieces of meat I've ever had. I wish I'd have taken a picture even though it wouldn't have done it justice for how delicious it was. My waitress was so sweet and attentive. The rest of the staff was very friendly and the host was able to seat me even though I had no reservation and it was busy. A must try if you're in El Paso.

So I, of course, feeling the need always to explore new cocktail bars or restaurants in my hometown when visiting home, was pretty excited for the opportunity to check out Hush Hush. As a true millennial Gemini, I celebrate my birthday for the whole month, so I quickly texted my family and friends; this is where I wanted to go. What I love about Hush Hush is how it's encouraging and pushing folks to step out of their comfort zone in their attire and dress more to the vibes of this cocktail house (Think Soho, ABA, Casablanca, and Elephante). You're bound to see more desert tones, muted colors, flowy pants, basically anything resort wear. It's cool to see this cocktail house make you feel like you're not in El Paso. The music is different, more loungey, to where you can hear everyone at your table. Of course, there's still a DJ, but damn, Hush Hush is intentionally geared for those who love to go out but need top-shelf cocktails without the eye rolls or the bartenders staring at us with blank eyes. Hush Hush is a true game changer. The lines might get crazy, but I suggest getting there early so you can snag your photos and a solid table/spot. There are three main bar areas, but my fave was the velvet room. I suggest catching a drink on the second floor if you get there early enough to get an eagle eye's view of the establishment. Attention to detail was on point, and I appreciated the homework and research done before the opening of this spot. It's an elevated experience for the city and one I wish every city in the States had tbh.

If I remember correctly, I entered El Paso on a Monday or a Tuesday, and The Reagan was super quiet. I was informed (by more than one party) that it's packed on the weekends. That makes sense. This place has a speakeasy vibe but with an almost classy sensual undertone. It's definitely unique. I had an Old Fashioned after a long drive from San Antonio. I thought I was celebrating after a poker room in SA just made a verbal agreement with me for good money after a three-hour conversation with the owner. However, he was apparently upset I posted a video from another club in SA that was 40-minutes away and only runs one game. He was also afraid to tell me this and a coward. Solution would have been: "Can you please take that video down?" Whatever, dude. Part of reason that business won't last. A business should be run with honesty, respect, and transparency. Anyway ... at The Reagan, a biker dude came in and he was a singer in Germany because he met his German wife in the US when she was watching one of his shows and introduced herself. He was about to go back to Germany but heard good things about The Reagan so drove an hour on his bike to see it the day before he left. And he was impressed. We talked for about an hour about many things. If you visit El Paso, The Regan is a must! It's like being in a movie. Which movie? Maybe a mix between a 007 movie and Boogie Nights.

Adjacent to the The Tiki Room, Pearl Divers features a rotating list of oysters from different regions at $3 a pop. We had the chance to try all three oysters that they were featuring for the day and we really enjoyed the palette. The oysters featured might've been limited but they had a major punch to them with flavor. My favorite were the ones that were a bit more briny, truly small but mighty. Your oysters are brought out with the traditional crackers, hot sauce, mignonette sauce, horseradish, and lemons. It was nice for them to all folks the chance to order in any quantity as I'm sure a few folks might be trying oysters for the very first time in a landlocked city. The had a finessed menu featuring carpaccio, tartare, and about ten to fifteen dishes encompassing appetizers to main entrees. We had ordered the carpaccio but it never came out (no biggie, again it was soft opening so we came in with an open mind). Since we got there a bit later in the day, they were out of frites and I am a loyal fan of oysters, frites, and bubbles (wine at the minimum). This just means we'll have to be back. What was most important to me though was the service and how friendly the staff was. We opted to sit at the bar (as one should at an Oyster bar) and be as close to the oyster display as possible. I used to live in New Orleans for a few years so sometimes when it's busier and you're chatting away they'll shuck an extra one to you every so often to try. I'm pretty stoked to see the dining scene continuously elevating and Pearl Divers is a nice rendition. I'll be certain to come back and can't wait to see what a five-star experience is out of their soft opening phase. *** If there is one piece of feedback I'd provide is to have smaller spoons for the mignonette and forks for the oysters. The current sizes are a bit too large and can easily ruin the integrity of the oyster when making sure it's been properly separated and not intact, as well as, not being able to have the right ratio of mignonette sauce for each oyster. The spoon was constantly hitting the mouth of the condiment cup.
