I called to see if they accept a certain coupon. On the coupon it says, valid at participating Atlanta locations. Key word: participating. Just to check, I called to ask if they would take it. The lady (I wish I got her name, but didn't) was unbelievably rude. Her tone and attitude were apparent from the moment she answered the phone. She gave no greeting or a "how can I help", just said "great clips Howell mill" already with a tone like I was inconveniencing her. Then when I asked about the coupon, Her response was "well doesn't it say Atlanta area?" And I said well yeah it says *participating* Atlanta salons. She started raising her voice (not yelling but overpowering my voice) and cut me off. Then said "yeah we take coupons here" with a very condescending tone like I was stupid for asking. Even if it was a dumb question the tone, volume, and abrasiveness was absurd. I said again okay well it says participating so I was just checking yall were apart of it. She said some more nonsense in a very aggressive and loud tone that I think was "so are you coming in or not" but I couldn't even tell so I said alright and hung up. Going to great clips is like playing Russian roulette already so with how rude and annoyed this lady was for no reason, I did not go here. I asked for her to barely cut anything off, pretty simple directions right. She whips out the guard and starts cutting all of my hair off. I'd been going to the Howell Mill Great Clips for several years, but the cheap haircut doesn't make up for the rude service. Another commenter here mentioned a male stylist with "an impatient and condescending" attitude. It had to be the same one I had a deplorable encounter with a few months ago, who repeatedly told me, "I'm not a mind-reader, tell me what you want." After complaining to Great Clips' customer service, I heard back from the franchise owner, who said he was aware of the stylist's bad attitude, but rather than apologize, he said I shouldn't visit that location anymore, and just offered a free cut at another salon, which I declined. I'm not patronizing a business that doesn't appreciate a good long-time customer. Since then, I started going to a local independent salon and realize now what I'd been missing. I'm getting a much better haircut and the experience is actually enjoyable. read more

This is more a review of Emily who cut my hair. If you've seen one Great Clips, you've seen them all. (Which isn't a bad thing, they are very consistent) From the beginning Emily was a delight . She even went out of her way to shake my hand and smile when introducing herself. (Sounds small, but I can't recall that ever happening before when getting my hair cut) She was very friendly, pleasant and talkative the entire time. (But not in an annoying or fake way) Even though my hair is short and relatively easy to cut, she still made sure I was 100% satisfied with every part of it before I was finished. After I got up there were 4 people waiting. 3 of them were waiting specifically for Emily even though it was going to take 15-20 minutes longer to get to them that way. All of the other employees there seemed nice as well, but definitely ask if Emily is working next time you go in. read more

He asked what I wanted and then somehow we got into an uncomfortable exchange over the semantics of how short I wanted my haircut. His tone was impatient and condescending. UN. BE. LIEVABLE how bad the stylist jackie did with my 6 year old daughter. We went in asking for a long bob, and came out with the biggest hack job you've ever seen. Jackie was a hair bully who just basically went rogue on the back of my daughter's hair. It looks like someone cut her pony tail and it's completely unsalvageable. I'm hoping the kids at school dont' make fun of her. I have never had someone be so unpleasant to me about "what I should do with my daughter's hair." I was polite at the time because I didn't want my daughter to know how bad it really looked, so I took her home and went back. One of the other girls handled my complaint, but Jackie looked up and we made eye contact, heard my complaint, but she never spoke to me. No apology, nothing. So I guess this rating is more about Jackie than Great Clips. I'm rating the whole place as only one star (because I can't rate with no stars) because they hired, and vouch for this unskilled, unpleasant employee. Sorry for the rant. Tonight was the final straw. I walk in at 6:01 to an empty salon, two stylists - one was the new manager. I'm told they can't take me by the manager bc it's a wash and style and they might get a haircut. They have one early check in they are waiting on. I wonder if the owner realizes how much business gets turned away and future business turned off. They have no customers and my wash and style for short hair would be 20 min most. She refused because of two minutes?? When it's an hour to closing and no customers with one online checkin.. I asked my hair stylist standing next to her, whom I always tip 5-8$, and she says she looks down and softly says she would, except it's the manager's call. "You're the manager? Turning away business?" I look in 15 minutes later and again empty withone customer in the waiting room and again two empty stylists. Go figure. I guess the store is making enough money to not take a 30$ style job that pays someone's wages for that hour. I'm done trying to make this my neighborhood salon. Fortunately my daughter is easy to please and likes how her haircut turned out, but the staff at this location were rude and didn't understand basic instructions. When Tracy somehow misunderstood that my daughter wanted a blunt bob - all one length, she tried to charge us for a second cut to fix her mistake. I came in and fortunately there was no wait. As they type in your style on a previous visit, they knew what I wanted and proceeded to give me my sweet manly buzz cut. The stylist was really friendly and we carried on a conversation throughout the cut. No awkward silences. I was able to use a coupon on the back of a Kroger receipt to get 5 bucks or so off. I've been to several Great Clips locations and have had wonderful experiences (from customer service to cuts). I am grateful I met Mrs. Tina (or Taunya; can't remember her name) because she turned a horrible experience into a great one so KUDOS to her! Now.... Brandi was a total shrew! She was in a rush to leave but still took a 10 year old client! I came in with two boys (10 and 3) and Brandi said "I'll cut both of their hair". She was definitely rude as far as tone but we wanted the boys hair cut. So I did not address her. After she cut the 10 year olds hair, he was nervous but he politely expressed to her that he didn't like the "shadow fade" and wanted the "even all around" cut. He's freaking 10 so of course he doesn't know what he wants! But instead of her being kind and letting her colleagues fix his hair (because she was on her way out of the door), she states the following (in the most rude tone ever): "You should have told me this! We could have been done 4 minutes ago!!" Throughout the time that she was fixing his hair, she was huffing and puffing which made him very uncomfortable. After his haircut, she tells us she will not be cutting the 3 year olds hair (great)! As she prepares to leave (jacket on, chic-fil-a cup in hand) she states to her colleague "Yeah I could have been gone but it took me 18 minutes to do a 10 minute haircut!" I was livid! Brandi has HORRIBLE customer service skills and I will be reaching out to higher management to report her and this experience! If you go there, do NOT go to Brandi's chair (tall, fair skinned, African American lady) unless you want to deal with a combative, aggressive and "in a hurry" stylist! read more

I was getting on here to leave a review after my awesome experience tonight, because Jacky cut my hair and she was amazing! I was scrolling down and saw Ann's review and I think it's funny because I was actually in Jacky's chair when she came back in to complain about her daughters hair, and she was acting totally high on the mommy meds (wine in the coffee cup, or something stronger cause she was out of it)! She even said her daughter had been cutting HER OWN HAIR before the brought her into the salon, so whatever was wrong was probably her daughter's fault. She asked for her tip back which I found very strange because why would you tip if it was all that bad????? It's hit or miss at this location! Stylists come and go with alarming frequency. I've had some rather good cuts at this location - and some of my absolute worst cuts as well. If you find a stylist that you like, chances are that they will be transferred to another location. When that happens, they will not tell you where they have gone. They can get very "clipper happy" and seem to have an aversion to using scissors. I do wish they were more consistent with a cut. They are in a very convenient location, otherwise I would have explored other options. Though I was very explicit as to how I wanted my hair cut, the stylist on my most recent visit completely ignored my instructions and now I have to live with a botched cut for the next couple of months until it grows out. read more

I have been getting my haircut at the Collier Rd location for about 6 years now and I always leave with a great haircut. The prices are unbelievably low for the service you receive. And the best thing is the free Great Clips app. You can check in on your smartphone via the app and it logs you in so that you don't have to wait once you get there. Genious!
