I have been going to Rudy`s for years in another state and my Barber was always engaging, professional and provided great haircuts. I have since relocated to Atlanta, and decided to try your Ponce Market location with Katie, as I believe she was the Manager there and would give me great service. First, Katie was running late(which I know happens on a sat) but after 15 aft my appt time, which she finished the haircut and was having a long conversation with no acknowledgement, she gave me a quick and curt"sorry for waiting". Throughout the haircut she seemed rushed and agitated as if I did something wrong. I have never experienced such a poor haircut and questioning whether to return to Rudy`s in ATL which is a shame. read more

Awful Customer service!!!! I was required to put in a credit card and was told I would be charged 50% of the cost of services if cancelled within 4 hours. They call to cancel and only can get me in 5 hours later. Zero offer, zero remorse. I've been multiple times and never had an issue and going forward Rudy's has now lost a customer forever. The worst possible experience. I booked a 10:15 appt to make a lunch date at 12. I arrived and they asked me to have a seat and it'll just be a minute. By 10:45, they said they wouldn't take me until 11:15. I had to leave without my hair done. My new favorite barber in the city. After trying most places ranging from 15 to 65 and never felt quite as satisfied as after my visit at Rudy's. It's a hip trendy shop where the barbers are trained and from their work you can tell that you are confidently aware of their work. At 34 price tag for a proper men's hair cut with shampoo and styling included, in my opinion is a steal. The best part is that even though the barbers are very much talented in their game, they don't impose their style on you and carefully listen to your needs and then provide their feedback accordingly. I didn't feel rushed at all but with that said my barber wasn't slow either. He just took is time to give me a great cut and yet was efficient. Definitely going to be a regular here and can't recommend them enough. read more

The first ominous sign was the skipping. Cody danced over from his station eight feet away toward the front door. You are my "lucky 4pm". I showed him a pic of my haircut. It almost always helps. "No problem". And then, things got a bit weird. The haircut started with shaky clippers. The clippers mowed violently. Cody sliced, stabbed. The cuts were aggressive, anything but the elegance that you would expect from someone experienced. Unique, like nothing I had ever experienced. I prayed silently. Please let this be the fear of a "new barber", which settles in. Something gave me pause. But, I went with it. I mean, who you stop a surgery, even if the surgeon's hands were shaky? And then, something now so predictable happened. The slicing chipper assumed a mind of its own a shaved a two-inch hole of gaping skull skin close to my hair line. Shock!! I have a business trip tomorrow! I stared in disbelief. What up!! I struggled for composure. So did Cody. "Calm down." he said.. (he really said that). "These things happen". We'll make it look "super cute". After a minute of shaving upward, it was clear that my cut was unsalvageable. He was working his way up with the clipper at blade level, inching his way closer to my hair part line. After about 15 minutes, the side of my hair was shorter than my 5 o-clock shadow beard, and my fade started its taper a couple of includes above my ear. It was bad. Perhaps, tragic. Shrug .. oh well.. Despite the negatives, there were some positives to keep in mind .. 1. Cody managed to salvage my professional haircut to something reminiscent of my high-school raving years. He did a good job recovering what he could. It could have been worse had he buzzed my hair off completely I suppose. 2. The manager graciously didn't charge me, after Cody explained his mistake. Rudy's looks great, but the service that it markets needs a dramatic change. It's way overpriced. It lacks in quality. What happened in there happened before. That's the scary part. "Butchering" from Cody was mentioned in another review. Personally, I will never return. My husband started going to Rudy's last year, and he's had very good experiences, but I just had my first appointment with them last month, and it was great! I decided to visit Rudy's because I'm so tired of having to spend $70+ on a cut for my long white girl hair. I also haven't had a stylist I'm committed to, so why not just try the $45 long cut at Rudy's? I'm glad I did! I called ahead because it was important to me to have a time slot during my lunch, and I wanted to make sure I got a barber who would be comfortable and competent with long girl hair. I got scheduled, but my stylist got changed when I arrived. I was a little worried, but everything ended up going really well! I was paired with Penelope. She was excellent. I jived with her really quickly (which is such a relief - you know how interpersonal dynamics can be weird at the hair dresser's). She said, "You brought notes? I love notes!" I had indeed brought notes and pictures because I wanted to be as clear as possible to help me get the result I wanted. Turned out the extra time spent on those notes helped out a lot, and I highly recommend it. I really appreciated the care Penelope used with my hair. She went not-as-short as I'd requested for a first go round, because, as you may have heard before, you can go shorter, but you can't go back. I did want to keep going shorter after the first round, and I was worried about asking for more because I didn't want to irritate her (past haircut baggage coming up right there, she had given me no reason to worry), but Penelope took it 100% in stride and went back at it. She also made a very helpful suggestion about how to add in some extra trimming to help blend my bangs out while I'm growing out. I had originally said I didn't want my bangs to be messed with too because because I want them to grow, but I'm SO glad she asserted herself in this way, offering this suggestion. I felt comfortable saying yes or no, and I'm glad I said yes. I did not get any additional styling or a blow out, by the way. I just got the $45 haircut with a rough-ish dry, which was nice enough for me to see how it looks and either wear it to work or put it up for the rest of the day. I appreciate having the option to forego the fancier styling. Penelope was great, and I'll absolutely be coming back! I have come here several times before and my stylist (Chelli?) was awesome. She wasn't available. Today my sylist was Shelby.As i walked in the desk guy and a stylist were talking, he asks walk in or appointment. I say walk in, he asks her (the stylist) if she wants to take it. After a huff, she agrees. The haircut is fine, Id give it a B+ but the experience is a F. Not once did she wipe the hair off my face or neck, Not even with a blow dryer. She asked if i wanted to get rinsed out. I say yes, I get a long exhale. Apparently you can do a shampoo and conditioner in less that 60 seconds, and that is not an exaggeration. My stylist Shelby needs to learn about customer service and what a barbership experience could be. She cost Rudy's all of my future business. Before you respond to this and say how i tipped her $5, just because you guys sucked today and didn't meet the expectation doesn't mean I will stoop to that level. Before I moved across the country over seven years ago, my stylist was Steven (who now works at Rudy's). Steven has always given me amazing haircuts that grow out like a dream. I recently moved back to Georgia and when I was in Atlanta looked him up right before I had to go out of town for a conference. No pressure. My appointment started on time and began with Steven asking me specific questions about how I wore it and what I liked - and I really felt heard. Usually I leave salons and cannot wait to get home and style it myself - never with Steven. I walked out of there with renewed self-confidence, feeling great. I think it is a true testament to a stylist's skills when after almost a decade of being apart, I seek them out when I return to the area. Steven is great! read more

First, I was surprised to wait 40 minutes to be sat in a barber chair, when I was the only person waiting and there were only two barbers working on two male haircuts. It was 11am on a Tuesday. I've never waited this long at any walk-in barbershop (Rudy's, Floyd's, etc). After finally being seated, I gave the barber a photo of a razor-cut Asymmetrical style that I wanted. (And I showed him a photo of what I didn't want, just so we covered all basis). My hair was already a short, grown out asymmetrical cut so he was cleaning it up and giving it fresh shape. He ended up cutting it the way I asked him NOT to. I've had better cuts at SuperCuts recently. I still tipped him and thanked him, assuming he did his best, and walked with him to the cashier. Unbeknownst to me, he writes down that I had a LONG hair cut, rather than SHORT. WHICH IS $11 more. I was aghast. I had walked in with short hair above my shoulders, and was walking out with merely the hair at the back of my neck raised about half an inch. In No way had I had a long hair cut! I disputed this, while the cashier tried to hold to it. Then, I turned to the barber to ask him to clear this up -- and with a shrug and giggle, he claims he "made a mistake and wrote down "long" on accident." It felt sloppy, and just plain dishonest. And had I not disputed it, I would have paid $45 + tip for a bad trim/clean up, rather than $34 + tip for a bad trim/clean up. I won't return to this Rudy's again. read more

This place is such a joke. My first appointment with them last year, I was seated 10 minutes late, was condescended by the stylist for using the term "high fade" improperly and left with a less than ideal hair cut. I figured everyone deserves a second chance so booked another appointment for 11:30 AM. Arrived on time and checked in with no issues. Around 11:40 I started to worry as all of the stylists were seemingly still mid cut an no one had spoken with me yet. At 11:50 I inquire with the receptionist about my appointment time. I was asked who I was again, she went over to ask the stylist about my appointment and came back to inform it would still be a bit longer. How does this happen? Will never recommend this place to anyone and wont be surprised when they are gone and replaced. My favorite part is this blurb in their confirmation email they send: "Like shears, appointments are best kept sharp, so please be on time. We'll hold your spot for five minutes, but may have to move on to the next client after that." Had a good laugh at that one. read more

They are open late which is great bc I worked till 6! I told the receptionist, Bree, a vague idea of what I wanted (bc yes ladies, they do women's cuts too!) and she hooked me up the amazing Kelly!! I was wanting to get a little brave and told her what I wanted and she was as excited as I was! She talked to me and got feedback through the cut and also she was just a really cool person to chat with during a cut. They are not Supercuts, they don't speed through your cut. Rudy's Barbershop is a great spot to get a hair cut. The building is in a pretty cool spot and close to ponce city market. I have had some success with parking in front but there is a parking deck close by. The interior has a cool vibe to it and the staff really give you a great experience. I would highly recommend going to Emily. She is truly one of the most genuine people and gives an amazing haircuts. We had some good laughs and great conversations. I love my haircut and feel so confident. This place has great prices and helped me find some cool beard products that i wouldn't have known about other wise. I have had my haircut at Rudy's 4 times now and I have been pleased everytime! Cody has been my barber everytime and I love getting my haircut by him. Cody is great at his job and I always leave with a clean, modern cut that has a bit of an edge to it. I'm VERY picky about my haircuts, because your hair is the only outfit you wear everyday, so it better be good. Cody doesn't disappoint! Almost as important as the cut, is the atmosphere. This is the worst haircut and haircut experience of my life. I'm used to paying a premium for a nice haircut in the area, but this was $32 without tip. Highway robbery. First off, I travel for work and get my haircut at a Rudy's whenever I can find one. This is SO far from the norm, I don't even know where to begin. Sara was my barber. There's always been a flow to my haircut, and they usually take 25 minutes. 30 tops. She took 50, and she seemed to skip around and have no real method of what she was attempting to accomplish. When it was all said and done, my hair wasn't blended - at all. And the top looked like a ragged mop. To sum it up, when I went to get it fixed a day later - the barber looked at me and said "what 5 year old cut your hair?" I won't even go into the manager trying to explain to me the benefits of online reservations, even though I had her on the phone while driving. Skip this place and go see Cam at Freedom Barber Co. I live in Old Fourth Ward and had been going to another men's specialty barbershop on the beltline (won't name names), but found that one to be too small and the cuts inconsistent. So I decided to try Rudys. The experience was on a higher level. The receptionist was helpful (checked on me twice while I waited a few minutes) and she was on top of things. The shop itself is open and airy, with cool art, and right next to Dancing Goats coffee. But most importantly, the cut was the BEST I have ever had, and I'm a 35 year old guy who never leaves reviews on yelp. The stylist, Genie, listened carefully to how I wanted it done and made a plan. While we were chatting she made sure I was liking was she was doing. I'm not that particular but I can recognize a talented person, and she is it. Do not recommend I have medium length hair with a nice flow to it. Went in to get it trimmed up, and walked out with a bob. The "stylist" completely sheared the back and left the front long. It looked fine until it dried and I looked like a middle aged suburban woman asking for the manager.
