Actually about 3 or more years ago I called Great Clips (near Central Market) and wanted to know what time they closed, drove super fast from North Austin where i work to get there on a Saturday, I walk in the door 20 min before closing and the little receptionist tells me i am too late, Diane offered to cut my hair, she told me she really enjoyed her job, i had never had a better hair cut. Well, almost 4 years later and I still go to Diane, she is awesome! You only pay $14.00 for the best hair cut so give her a try. read more

Terrible haircut. Uneven length. Too ashamed to post a pic. The guy spent maybe 5 minutes cutting my hair. He seemed more interested in his own silver fox coif than the customer's hair. Wish I could make my hair grow faster so I can go somewhere else to undo the damage. read more

I'm so frustrated. I go in with my daughter, it's the first time in almost a year and I get refused service. The owner wouldn't stop talking about previous visits, and I said "can we just forget about the past, I checked in today," pointed at the monitor where my name was and said "there is my name there," and he then began a verbatim about refusing service. I'm so upset after working all day, feeding my kid, and finding time to do something for myself, and this happens. This was my third visit, I will not be returning. read more

Had literally the worst haircut experience ever: When I walked in, two of the barbers was cutting hair for customers. Only one women was sweeping floor. She was pretty much indifferent and didn't almost say a word when signing me in. After being seated, all she knew about cutting hair was asking how long do I want it. And then all she did was running the haircutting razor through my hair, pretty much finishing in 3 minutes without even touching the scissors or asking my how I like it. Now my hair is shockingly shorter than I had wanted. Again, WORST experience ever. Highly recommend against anyone from going to this place! read more

First of all, I'm an old balding dude so all I'm really looking for is an inexpensive haircut without a wait. I love this place because with online check-in, I can reserve my spot and then head over. I rarely have more than a five minute wait and usually there's no wait at all. They have my information saved in their system so there's no wasted time deciding what I want done. I've never left unhappy. My only complaints are (1) that there seems to be high turnover in staff, so despite going there for years, I don't have a "regular" stylist. And (2) if I am not at home, or in the car, you can't reserve your spot over the phone and using my smart phone isn't always an option. I can't speak for women, but for most men, this is absolutely what you're looking for. read more

I was so nervous about coming here. I'd never been here before, but my usual spot is really pricey and I was on a budget 'cause of...life stuff lol. I was nervous because this place was very cheap ($14 for a haircut is a deal!) and I was going for a special cut: a shaved sidecut and lots of layers. I honestly didn't know if they would take me because of what I wanted...but perhaps that is an insulting assumption on my end. Everyone in the salon was nice to me and I didn't have to wait very long either! First, a woman took me, but she ended up passing me off to an older guy. Something was going on that day and she was arguing with this other hairdresser. Honestly, it almost made me leave because I found it to be a little unprofessional, but I stayed and I am glad that I stayed. Everyone has bad days, I suppose. The hairdresser I ended up having was Raymond and Raymond was amazing. Poor guy because I hadn't gotten my hair cut in almost a year. My hair was thick, wavy, knotty, long, and full of dead ends. He was patient, pleasant, and he paid attention when I told him what I wanted. I showed him photos and he got it exactly right! He only trimmed maybe an inch or two from my hair to get rid of the dead ends because he knew that I wanted to keep majority of my length, he gave me glorious layers (not crappy botched uneven ones like the ones I tend to get even at the most expensive salons), and made the side shave on the right side of my head the perfect size using a size 2 and shaved it evenly and just the way that I wanted it. I was so nervous, but I am SO happy that I came here. As long as I am in Austin I will continue to get my hair cut by Raymond at Great Clips. I honestly love my hair cut AND I've gotten lots of compliments on it already! I would post a pic if I could figure out how to on yelp lol.... read more

Horrible.... only one word! Will never be back.. first experience and last! As I walked in the salon I herd one of the hair stylist red hair guy calling a customer a moron, I was too intense, it seems like they are very unhappy to work there. I show our stylist with a picture exactly what I needed done to my son and still did not get it... I will be telling my friends about my experience, my son was impressed on how fast they cut his hair because they don't take the time to make it a good experience, like they don't give a shit! I know someone who just got their hair cut at Great Clips at Parmer and Mopac. Stephanie did the cut and holy $%&@ - there was a very short patch on the left side of the head, longer hair on the opposite side of that, and the hair on the left side of the head next to the very short patch was much longer than the hair on the right - super uneven and a very poor job. This person went back to ask for correction on the HC, and Stephanie said "it's not that bad" and "I cut it that way because of your cowlick" and "I don't know why you're so mad" and "I can fix it OR give you your money back" - all the while with a poor attitude...and then was laughing at him when he walked out of the location. What happened to "the customer is always right"? How about doing your best work and wanting to take pride in what you do and sending a customer out of your establishment with an even, precise, good-looking cut? How about professionalism and good customer service? You won't get that here...be warned. read more

I had decent cuts the first few times I went here. My last cut, however, was a nightmare. I'm still dealing with it a month after the haircut. I saw a new person and she did quite a number on my hair. It now sticks out in weird places, and it's very uneven. I think I could've done a better job cutting my own hair. This is my first post. Unfortunately negative, but I do plan on posting positive on good experiences from other business (not a negative person AT ALL). I have been going to great clips for a LONG TIME. Hit or miss pending the hair dresser. I am leaving great clips, and my hair is not short enough after telling her 3 times it needs to be shorter. I finally just stopped telling her, and figure Ill get a haircut in 2 1/2 weeks instead of 3-4 weeks fine whatever. Upon getting home I look in the mirror and one side burn is longer than the other!!! She didn't even touch one side! I had to trim it myself for length but cant thin it out... scared of messing it up. TERRIBLE experience. I will be going to great clips but NOT THIS ONE. FYI-She was a short Hispanic girl with a mole on the neck, and black long hair kinda wavy. Also my hair is easy to do. I ask for it to be flipped in the front and shortened thats all!!!! DONT GO HERE go to another one! Its worth an extra 10 minute drive! read more

I am between regular hairdressers and I am also trying to grow out my hair to it's natural color. About 6 months ago, I stopped in for a quick trim of about an inch. Super easy cut with straight hair, just a blunt cut. Last Saturday Feb 27, 2016, I went in to get about 2-3 inches off. Just enough to get all the fried bits off. It was super busy, which should have been the red flag to come back another day. After being called to her chair, I was cut, paid and walking out the door within 5 minutes. She did double check with me about how much to be taken off. I really wasn't too concerned. She proceeded to part my hair down the middle, I part on the side, before cutting. Wet my hair down a little and did the cut. Then briefly dried my hair , took the cape off and said I was done. As I was getting up, she swept up the hair. Didn't bother to comb my hair or put my part back. She didn't even give me a mirror to check the cut. So I had to fix my part with my fingers. I didn't feel good about it but did give her a small tip. It wasn't until I got home did I find she lopped off the 3 inches and only did a straightening cut of the hair on top. I had huge chunks of hair underneath that were showing . I am still finding smaller bits of hair that is uneven. I wasn't asking for a precision cut, just a simple straight blunt cut on straight hair. This store is a franchise so the only address you can complain to is corporate. They just send an email saying "sorry". They didn't bother to refund my money or anything. As for Heather, she should either get more training or find another line of work. This location also had an hour wait with only 3 hair dressers. I guess they figure quantity over quality. read more

I had my haircut there from Brad the other day and he is one of the BEST and finest from Chicago! Very prescised and well trained, it was the best haircut I had in YEARS!! As I watched him cut other clients, he satisfied everybody and cuts hair like a gourmet chef. Worth the time and effort, even just for waiting for him. I get compliments everywhere I go!!
