Looks more like a very old home converted into a makeshift hair salon. Forced to pay cash instead of using card. Bad haircuts, no clients. Allows people to walk in and get haircut after you've made an appointment. Don't allow them to cut your or your children's hair. Cesar Perez is owner and is listed as Coba Perez and Cesar & Omayra in Facebook. They will solicit to you to be your real-estate agent to take your money anyway they can. I've said it before and I'll say it again....my hair is super difficult to cut. I like it to be really short....but it's coarse, curly, and super thick so it's a challenge to find someone that can give me a haircut I like. I found Perez Hair Design by all of these amazing reviews and decided I'd give it a shot since I couldn't make it to Round Rock to my regular stylist. I called yesterday and explained what I was needing to Cesar, and he made me an appointment for today. Alex is who actually cut my hair and she was wonderful! We talked the whole time, and I felt like a friend was doing my hair. That's the best. Also, I could tell from her first cut that she was going to give me a good haircut. I came here after a co-worker of mine recommended it to me. It was an early Saturday morning and I had just finished working out so I showered before my appointment. I entered and the "receptionist" was casually sitting down on the couches on her phone. At first, I thought she may have been a customer so I walked passed her towards the empty reception desk and just stood there. That is when she asked me if she could help me while still sitting there behind me. I turned and let her know i had an appointment. Not that warm fuzzy welcome feeling at all and poor customer service. They sat me down and she began asking me for what I wanted to do with my hair. She noticed my hair was still wet so she confirmed with me that no hair wash was needed. I agreed and we continued. She cut my hair and did not offer to hair dry my hair. I actually did want to get a hair dry and yet I had a couple errands to run right after so it didn't bother me and I didn't ask. Well, when I got to pay she informed me that it was going to be $25. I hadn't checked out the prices before my visit since their website does not work and so I paid. Well, I later found out that the $25 charge should have came with both the hair wash and hair dry. They offer a simple cut, shampoo, and head massage for $12 and a hair trim for $15. I don't understand why she would charge me the full $25 if I didn't even get half of the services included with that price. Because of this, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning here unfortunately. These may not be that big of a deal, but when you are trying to find your new hair stylist, every little thing counts. I'm still on the hunt for my new hair salon shop. read more

I love this place!! I have definitely found my new salon. I went in today and got my hair highlighted and cut and it turned out beautiful! The atmosphere is wonderful! I would never go back here. I spent 6 months growing my hair out, they ruined it. No price can fix ruined hair. When I walked in, the receptionist was on the phone, didn't take a moment to greet me. The stylists in back did, but asked me to wait a minute as they finished their own hair. The cut was a disaster. I asked for a trim and a shape. When I asked what most people do with this length and what shape there was no answer from the stylist. I don't think she knew what to do. Maybe Perez himself is the only one who knows how to do hair, and if he saw my before and after I'd ask if he would fix it himself. I haven't grown my hair out in 20 years. I'm really sad and disappointed at what happened. Nothing is right about this haircut. All she did is trim off all my long hair on the sides, and the sides are not even the same length! Please do yourself a favor, don't go here. No price is worth losing 6 months of waiting. I looked better when I walked in the salon than when I walked out. I've learned my lesson on this type of situation the last time. Unless you're a Mexican guy getting the usual little soldier haircut, stay away. read more

I can be pretty picky sometimes when it comes to trusting salons, especially when moving to a new city, but Alma is my angel. The mixed reviews for Perez Salon made me a little nervous when I first sat in her chair, but this girl knows what she is doing. She blew out my hair and styled it just fine, almost like she read my mind. She is also extremely warm and welcoming. She really listens to what you want and what you're going for with your hair. I trust her completely with all of my beauty needs. I will probably start getting my eyebrows done by her as well. ( I will never get my eyebrows done by another lady that has them tattooed on ever again. thankyouverymuch) I also appreciated that when I talked to her about dying my hair in the future, she told me that the color I have right now (which is pretty close to my natural color anyway) is perfect for my skin tone etc. and only made some small suggestions on what could be done better. She didn't try to up sell me on a bunch of crazy things to do to my hair. I respect that, and it makes me trust her more, which is why I keep going back. The price is reasonable. Roughly around $25 for a wash and blow dry, which is the price I am used to paying in NYC and some parts of LA. I was a little worried when moving out here that I would have to pay more, since upon first Google I came across a few blow dry bars charging $40-ish for a wash and blow. Listen, I don't give two ***** about getting a pink martini with my wash and blow, or having some fancy lights hung up around the place. I just care about having my hair done nice, and that's what Alma and Perez Hair Salon do. I have never gone to anyone else but Alma here, but when I look around, all of the ladies have great hair too, so I trust that everyone here knows what they are doing. I moved to Austin from DC 6 months ago and miss my Jean Madeline Aveda Institute where I could get a quality hair job for a reasonable price but thankfully I found Perez Hair Design!!! I came here first for a haircut and Norma helped me restyle my pesky ends and layers. She gave me awesome advice on how to care for my hair with store bought affordable products. I returned months later for a balayage with Omayra. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and unlike other stylists I've seen in the past she approached it with an "everything is possible" attitude. I thought I wanted an ombré but Omayra patiently explained to me the difference between balayage and ombré. I was ecstatic with the results and at a SUPER great price. It's a bit of a trek for me to get that far on South Congress but soooooo worth the trip. read more

I love this little place. Katya just touched up my hair last week & I must say after years she never fails to impress me. I always feel guilty when I cheat on her & have someone else do my hair, as I'm always left in disappointment. She is the only person that gives me exactly what I want. The owner Caesar is a very nice & friendly guy himself. He is always warm & welcoming on the phone and makes scheduling very easy. I cannot give this place enough GREAT compliments. It's a place that is very affordable and has a superb knowledge staff. I have not tried any of the other ladies, but Katya is definitely a winner in my eyes. Best haircut decision I have made! I just returned from Perez Hair Design and couldn't wait to post my spectacular review of the place. After being scarred from a not so good haircut, I decided to trust some Yelpers to find a different salon. I wanted to get highlights and fix my choppy hair, so I made an appointment with Alex. She was friendly, bubbly, and so knowledgeable about what would work for me. I now have sun-kissed, bright blonde highlights (no white blonde here!) and an angled bob cut to fix my choppy layers from my previous hair cut. I thought I couldn't be happier until they gave me my receipt! I had a coupon for $25 off that I found on their website, and for my highlights, shampoo, cut and style it was only $55! You can't even find partial highlights for that price. I am so happy with my new hairstyle, I can't stop looking in the mirror! Definitely give this little hole in the wall a chance (it's easy to pass by) and you can not go wrong seeing Alex! Can't wait until my next visit! read more

I went in for a long bob haircut. The lady said she was able to do it. Then while she was cutting she kept having a hard time. And kept going shorter and shorter! 5inches shorter from what I wanted!! She asked for help from 2 other hair dressers and they were all laughing thing to figure out how to fix it. Then all 3 of them started working on my hair. It was a nightmare! Never again!!!! I left crying. I got my money back the next day because I just couldn't get over how devastating that experience was. read more

For very basic services like touching up the roots and a blow dry, I look for a bargain. THIS PLACE WASN'T IT! I don't understand the great ratings and low price ratings given by other yelpers. I received at best a "beauty school" level of expertise, too much hair color was used (will wreck your hair if you need to color every three weeks), hair was not blown dry the way I specifically requested- and it was just a simple request; nothing fancy. This is the first time in my life i can remember not tipping because the proce was so much higher than the quality of the service. I would absolutely not rate this at a $. It's a $$. Worst experience ever at a salon I walked in with beautiful very long brown hair walked out with fried short and the worst blond highlights ever!!!! The girl was sloppy unprofessional and in a hurry ruined my perfectly healthy hair I saw her try to hide the damaged hair that was falling out from my ends.....I was in such shock that I couldn't utter a word....when I left my hair was a puffy cut unevenly and just a mess...the other girls and the salon were just super quiet they all knew my hair was a hot mess....when I went to another salon to get the cut evened out the stylist was appalled by the damage and cut....Soooo please stay away from this place all those women need to go back to beauty school because they don't know anything!! read more

I think I've found my new salon. I moved to Austin about a year ago, and had been looking for a new place to get my hair cut... I was jumping around from high-dollar place to high-dollar place... (usually about 50-55 dollars, including tip). Since I don't like my hair short, and I just like to get my cut maintained, 50 bucks a pop is a little steep to me. My husband has been going here for a few months with Cesar and he really enjoys it. So, I decided to try it. It's a very small, no-frills kind of place, but it's cozy. Alex was the gal who cut my hair, and I have to say it's the best cut I've had in a VERY, VERY long time. I explained to her exactly what I wanted, and expressed my frustration that every time I try to get this cut, I end up with something else. Well, she NAILED it! And the best part is that she only charged 20 bucks for the cut/trim. Woo-hoo! She was also very friendly and chatted with me the entire time. She seems very genuine and pleasant. :) The only negative side (and most people would probably take a star away) is that I had set up an appointment at 1:00, and did not get back until 1:30. Alex was the only person in the shop, and she had (I assume) a walk-in that had shown up before I got there.. she finished her hair, then trimmed her little girl's hair, processed their payment, and then called me back. She would also have to stop and answer the phone often, until other staff returned from lunch. She kept apologizing for the wait, and would chat with me a little while she finished up the other customer's hair. I am a very patient person, and I really didn't have much going on that day, so I didn't really mind the wait...especially when it was over and I had a FABULOUS haircut at a great price... So, I give them 5 stars, and I will definitely be back to see Alex again! read more

Given I don't use theirs place very often but when I do I get hair color plus highlights also hair cut which for my length of hair mid back it come out to about $300 to $400 . Of course paying this amount of money I would think that the hair would be perfect before leaving hair was curled left down and looked good to my knowledge after going to work and having hair in a bun my friends started to point out hair stands hidden in middle of scalp that were semi colored orange highlights thick and not even reaching the root or close to root I was forced to leave hair down or in very low bun and was very disappointed. My friends look pictures of the back of the head and I couldn't believe it I was disappointed I've used other hair salons that don't charge as much and hair has been blonde and highlighted throughout the whole head and I have been surprised they used to have a hair salon rite next to them and they did an amazing job also great price but don't know what's going on with them maybe just my bad experience read more

The last time I got a haircut, I treated myself and went to a really ritzy salon. The haircut I got here was basically just as good, but for a third of the price. Katya noticed the same things about my hair that the ritzy salon lady noticed (where it's curly vs where it's straight, etc), all of which were things that no one has noticed before, neither in SuperCuts-type places nor in more professional salons. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, with none of the judgment you get in super-high-end places or the lack of attention you get in low-end places. False advertising for pricing. On Yelp and Google, they say it's $20 dollars for a cut. I got my haircut there on Saturday and it was $45. She trimmed existing layers, added a shorter layer, no shampoo or styling. I was there for 20 minutes. They have "claimed" their Yelp page and they're the ones that have added the "service" details...prices included. read more

I moved, so I had to find a new salon, but I wanted to recommend Perez and Letty- who gave me the best haircuts of my life! I was looking for a cheap place to get a haircut because even $60 feels like too much for a trim. I think I normally paid under $50 including tip and I really did get the best haircuts of my life- Letty knew just how to cut my white girl hair so I didn't have to use a hot iron on it anymore, it just dried nicely. I have never had such a good stylist at the expensive salons. I highly recommend Letty and taking a trip down SoCo to Perez. read more
