I got the haircut my wife wanted and the hot towel treatment I didn't expect, but enjoyed. I didn't get a shave and I'm not sure if it's an option, but other than that it was just like a barbershop. However I called and made an appointment to see Emily because when you dye your hair as much as I do, it dies quickly. Needless to say I needed to get rid of my dead head (get it, puns are fun!). When I called to make the appointment the guy who answered the phone was super nice and I gave him my info and got set up to go. He was so friendly and made sure I wasn't on the phone for very long so to me that's a great start. So the time comes for me to drive out to St. Matthews and once I arrive and walk in I was immediately greeted by the man at the counter and Emily at the same time. I got to the chair, sat down and we started talking about what I wanted to do with my hair, pulled up a couple of pictures that had the style & cut I wanted. Emily looked at my dead follicles and she didn't bitch at me about messed up my hair was. Once she had her idea it was off to shampooing, then the trimming started. The process was fun, relaxing and I really understood Emily's passion and skill the skill this woman has for her craft. After which she styled my hair and I couldn't stop smiling about my new style. The layout of the building is incredibly modern with open concepts and a private washing room in the back so you don't feel like everyone is watching you get your hair washed. They have private-ish stalls with the dryers in little cubby holes (I didn't get to experience that part but it was a different design than I've sen before). The stations are kind of small but they have storage underneath so don't be worried about your stylist not having what you need, it's there I promise. I loved everything about this experience and I recommend everyone go see the wonderful people here, get an appointment with Emily if you can, however if you can't then all the other ladies and gents will be more than happy to give you the hair you deserve!

She totally listened to what I want, as I was doing a big cut of about 8 inches. Of course, doing a big cut you get a little nervous but Morgan put me at ease. I arrived for my 6 pm appointment on a Thursday a few minutes early and was met by the receptionist. No clue what her name was, but she looked ready to leave and spoke in a monotone voice. Shortly thereafter I was taken back by Judi, a talkative and incredibly friendly woman who asked great questions and seemed interested in my responses. Within 30 minutes my hair had been washed, trimmed 2 inches and dried. I even rocked my part on a different side, breaking out my wild side wahoo! To begin with, there is no waiting inside the salon. You have to stay in your car and call them and they will tell you when to come in so we already started on the right foot! The first thing you will need to do is use sanitizer when you walk in and put on your face mask. Everyone inside was wearing a mask so it felt even more comforting. Additionally, the stylists have their chairs set 6 feet apart to follow social distancing. Everything from the chair to the hair washing stations are sanitizer after each person is done.
