However, I am absolutely heart broken to say my hair was not done well and not HOW I ASKED it to be done. When I made the appointment, I asked for heat rollers to be used because even though my hair curls & holds fine at home, when I get my hair professionally curled it never holds. THE OWNER REPLIED TO MY GOOGLE REVIEW SAYING MOST SALONS DON'T HAVE HEAT ROLLERS. I WAS TOLD BOTH TIMES I CALLED THAT HANNAH WOULD BE REMINDED TO BRING IN HEAR ROLLERS. SO NOT ONLY WAS I LIED TO, BUT THE OWNER COULDN'T EVEN BE EMPATHETIC AND APOLOGETIC BUT INSTEAD BLAMED ME FOR NOT ADVOCATING BETTER FOR MYSELF. The morning of my appointment, I called again to remind them to ask Hannah to BRING IN heat rollers to use on my hair. I requested them a third time when I got to the salon for my appointment. Hannah shrugged it off, saying she believed the "velcro rollers" would only give me volume and not curl and that she would curl my hair with a curler & pin it for a few minutes to let it set. I trusted the professional, but I should have stood up for myself and insisted on using heat rollers. Within 30 minutes of leaving the salon, the curls were gone. I was absolutely devastated. This maternity photo shoot is obviously a huge deal, once in a lifetime thing, and I just spent $155 (tip included) for great makeup and flat, straight hair. I was so disappointed that my requests were not met. My appointment was scheduled to be three hours long, but it only took two hours if that gives you any idea how much shorter "pinning my hair" took than the heat roller method would have taken. I rushed to Ulta, seeking some sort of last minute option as I was absolutely heart broken that I had just spent so much time & money on my hair that was an absolute fair for such an important event. Ulta curled my hair for $30 and those curls lasted for most of the photo shoot. They also wondered why the salon wouldn't do what I requested and even said heat rollers is the tried and true method that worked for our mothers and grandmothers, having no idea what Hannah meant by "velcro rollers that don't curl your hair." Anyways, I made the best of the photo shoot (which was cheaper than the hair & makeup) but having to drive in 3 hours & out 3 more hours and spend hundreds of dollars and take off work etc etc I would have liked to have gotten the hair style I asked THREE TIMES for. Great salon, great makeup, etc but fine hair'd girlies whose hair may not hold a curl super well beware Photo is my hair within 30 minutes of leaving the salon.

My stylist was Sara McAllister (hope I spelled it correctly). She looked at what I wanted & what I had then assured me she could do it. After a marvelous neck massage she shampooed my hair (and gave me a wonderful hand massage) & put some treatment on it to help with the dryness I seem to have. Then it was back to the styling chair. She kept me turned away from the mirror throughout the cutting & blow dry. When she let me see the back I was speechless. The parking is in the back, small lot, I pulled into the wrong lot at first but don't worry there are signs for all the businesses around claiming their parking. I know most people love their hair stylists. And most people think their stylist is the best. But, and I'm just being completely honest here, Shawn seriously is the best! From someone who starting coloring their hair at age 12 (I'm 29 now) and who's had long-term professional relationships with three other stylists, and countless other short-term experiences, I'm telling you he's amazing! I started going to this salon approximately two years ago and I have never been so happy with my hair in my life. As I mentioned, I started coloring (actually bleaching) my hair at a very young age, because it darkened as I got older. Due to all of the processing my hair was never very healthy, but shortly after starting to work with Shawn at Looblu my hair was actually getting better. Now, my hair is the healthiest it's ever been! It's so true that proper care makes all the difference. We still bleach my hair, but now it's very healthy. It's all about the salon care you receive and the products that are used on your hair. Shawn uses these amazing Kevin Murphy products that I absolutely love. They make my hair feel awesome and they smell so good! He uses the Kevin Murphy line in his salon and he also sells the products, so if you love them as much as I do you can stay fully stocked. The experience at Looblu is unlike any other salon experience I've ever encountered. The salon is located in the Springhurst location of Sola Salon, so first I'll tell you that you get a completely private salon experience. Shawn has his own salon space, so it's just you and him in the salon, which I love! It's completely private and so relaxing. Since you're in his personal salon you can talk or play whatever kind of music you like. There's no other noise from surrounding clients or tools, so you can really unwind an enjoy more of a spa-like salon experience. When you go in for your appointment the first thing you'll do is talk about what you want to do that day. I love that Shawn communicates so much with me about what I want for my hair, because no other stylist has really done that. Most stylists are just like.. "Oh, you want short?" - Chop! "Oh, you want blonde?" - Slather on bleach! - - With that kind of treatment you don't really know what you're getting beforehand and it's extremely easy to come out with something you didn't really want. Shawn truly takes the time to listen to you about what you want for your hair, and he even keeps an iPad in the shop to pull up photos, or Pinterest, to give you ideas or make sure you're both on the same page. And of course you can bring in your own photos as well! After your discussion, and once you settle on a plan of action for the day, he lowers the lights and gives you a neck, shoulder, and scalp massage with peppermint oil. It's so unbelievably relaxing, and the peppermint smells wonderful and feels so great on your skin. Then he reclines you in the chair for a wonderful scalp massage shampoo. After you rinse he'll put on a conditioning treatment and he gives you a hand massage while you wait for that to do its work. Then a final rinse and a towel dry before you get started. Once your finished with your shampoo he'll quickly go over what you want once again with you, just as a confirmation, then you'll start the best haircut of your life! As he cuts he'll explain to you what he's doing. I love this part, because typically stylists just chop chop chop and don't really tell you what they're doing. I love being told what's happening to my hair as we go. If you're not getting that, you should be. It gives you confidence in what's happening to your hair and you know you're getting what you want. After the cut Shawn will blow out your hair with a round brush, and he explains all of this to you as well. I've learned so much about styling technique from him. I have people ask me on a regular basis if I've had my hair done or gone for a blow out. I seriously do not use a straightener anymore. I just wash and blow dry my hair and I'm done. It's wonderful! Once your hair is looking sleek, and it will be, he'll give you the option of wearing it straight or curly. If you choose he will style your hair (as if it needed it after that blow out!) for you so that you can see different options for how to wear your new cut. Of course he explains that entire process as well. I could go on and on and on about Looblu Artisan Boutique and Studio! I seriously cannot speak highly enough about this salon. If I could talk it up more, or somehow give you the joy from every Looblu experience in this review, I would do it. All I can say is get there, fast, and try this place out!
