I just had my haircut for the thirds time there, the first time a day named Vion cut my hair. She bragged about herself and insisted on cutting it different than how I usually have my hair cut, with scissors, she used buzzers and butchered me! The second time I had it cut a girl named Sedighah cut my hair with scissors and did a great job and was very personable. The third time Vion once again cut my hair with scissors and butchered me again! She has a horrible attitude and would not even tell me her name "it is none of your business" she said! I like coming here because it's fast and unpretentious and they don't try to up sell you to death on hair product. (I buy all mine at Ulta, and I don't need any ever because I'm a product addict, just FYI.) Today Chanel cut my hair and she did a fabulous job. She listened to me and understood what I wanted. My hair is very fine so I took a picture of what I thought would work for my hair. Thank goodness for Lucia. She told me the cut I chose would not work for fine hair and an a-line bob would be better. Just so happens that's what I've always had but wanted something different. So... This is long overdue and I am officially boycotting this shop now. I shouldve just stuck to my go to but this haircut was pretty last minute so I chose this train wreck of a business. The 1st time I went there in quite a bit of time I was met by a girl who was very nice. I have to admit. But...She cut my hair and literally bragged the entire time she was cutting it about how good she was. Now..... Being confident it one thing. Be completely cocky is another. She may have felt she did an "amazing" job but I had to come home and touch it up myself. Not only that getting a haircut is a pretty personal and an up close event. Not cool to be cutting someones hair and wreaking of cigarettes the whole time. So that was my 1st visit in awhile. Today was my second visit in quite awhile and will be my last. Deziree cut my hair. For the most part she did ok. I had to again, come home and touch it up as there were chunks of hair uncut and much longer than the area surrounding it. A previous yelper put she was quite rough. Yeah, for some reason the clippers kept catching my damn skull and driving the guard into my head. Not a comfortable feeling. You would think after the 2nd time you would switch up what youre doing. Oh no. Happened like 8-9 more times. There are many places in Santee to get a haircut, this is not one of them. I choose not to indulge who I go to normally and shouldve just gone to because this is not review to promote them. This is a review to tell you all... I went in last week and had the worst salon experience I have ever had. Deziree yanked and pulled on my head while dry brushing my curly hair, and by the end of the first ten minutes I was almost in tears. I should have left at that point but I really wanted to have not wasted the ten minutes she just spent torturing me. She soaked the top half of my shirt during the wash, and never asked a single question about what I wanted. I finally offered that I'd like to take dead ends off and that I'd like layers. She added no layers in my hair, but she kept asking me "doesn't that feel better?" Not once did she ask if I liked it. I basically have a blunt cut and with curly hair that means I have triangle head. I left the salon a frizzy mess because she didn't use a single styling product, and she thought that scrubbing my head dry with a terrycloth towel was a good idea. My scalp was so sensitive from her tugging on my hair I couldn't put it up for three days. She made me feel horrible about my hair, that it was a burden that had to be dealt with. I left feeling humiliated and degraded, and once in the car I had a complete breakdown. As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression I have a hard time going to do things like getting my hair cut. I just wanted to go in and get a fresh cut, maybe a new style, just to get a little morale boost. Instead I got Deziree. I tried to email corporate about the incident before coming here and they sent me and email that basically said "Sorry, it's a franchise! But we'll pass on your comments to the owner and they'll call you soon." that was last week. No one ever called. The carelessness goes all the way to the top, apparently. I've never had an issue with GC before this, but I will literally never step foot into another GC again. read more

My sister and I went in for a trim, I got one inch off and my lady did a decent job, besides leaving me at least 5 times to check in guests and answer the phone. My sister got about 5 inches off. Her lady first had her sit and brush out her own hair, then had her stand the whole time while she chopped her hair off. She did a straight cut and did no style or anything! She gave my mom dirty looks once she noticed that my mom was watching my sister get her hair cut. Who makes their client stand the whole time! Brushing out her own hair was weird as well but not as bad as making her stand during the whole 15 minute haircut! We will never be going here again, we will be choosing a place that actually cares about their clients and wants to make them feel comfortable and enjoy the process of getting their hair done. read more

Typically have a great experience at this location, but not this time. Stylist in chair to the right in front (opposite receptionist booth) was beyond rude. My teenage daughter gave very clear directions as to how she wanted her hair cut. Stylist said to her, "I'm not going that short, I'm leaving it at X length." She might have made three snips with the scissors and declared her done. We were in and out in under ten minutes. I paid 20 dollars for my daughter to walk out looking exactly as she did when we walked in. Due to the attitude, I said nothing, paid for the careless service, and decided the best I could do is to warn others. We won't be using this particular location in the future based solely off this one stylist poor attitude and lack of service. It's a shame because up until now, I've always left pleased. Save yourself the drive and cut the hair yourself. You certainly couldn't do worse. UPDATE: I knew better, but I had really hoped that last time was just a fluke. It wasn't. I took my son in for a very simple haircut including pics of exactly what he wanted. He is 12 and more than old enough to explain what he wants. He showed her the pictures, explained to her how much he wanted cut, and she called me back four times because "she wasn't clear". I showed her the pictures again. Explained this was exactly what he wanted. Pictures covered all sides of the cut. It was a simple, short on the sides and a bit longer on the top. We aren't talking about some radical cut. In the end, it was close to what he had asked for, but even after he emphatically told her she had cut enough off the length, she continued to take some off. I understand needing to even put things, but this wasn't the case. He doesn't hate it, but it is much shorter than he requested and once again that falls squarely on the stylist not listening to the client. read more

I have been here twice and only had a good experience the first time. I came in for a simple trim and did not want to trim my bangs as I was growing out my hair at the time. The lady that cut my hair the first time listened to everything I said and just took a few inches off the bottom, freshened up my layers and didn't even touch my bangs, which I was grateful for. About 6 months later I came in again for yet another trim, but this time I was going to have them give me mary jane style bangs, and I was very specific in how I wanted them to look. After the lady shampooed me she simply started cutting my hair, not really paying attention to anything I had told her before. When she got to the bangs I told her again exactly what I wanted (not too full because I have very thick hair, and I did not want face framing or blending into the layers). She proceeded to piece out a section of hair to cut for the bangs and I could tell just by the amount of hair in her hand that she was cutting too much, but before I could speak she cut my hair, and it was awful! On the left side of my face it looked okay, but the right side of my head was literally all bangs!! It looked like a 5-year-old went to town on my head while I slept! When I told her how unhappy I was she apologized and tried to even it our but it was only getting worse. I finally just told her to stop and I unwillingly paid for my haircut and left without leaving a tip. I will never be back here again, not only because of the awful haircut, but for the sheer fact that no one was willing to help me or my stylist fix my hair. I think in a situation like this pride needs to be put aside and she should have asked for help so I could have atleast salvaged my hair a little bit... read more

I brought my kids in for haircuts tonight and two out of three were done right. My son had a great hair stylist Letty. She was super fantastic with my four year old who is very ticklish. She was patient and very sweet. My daughter Kali also had a great stylist, she listened to my request and pulled it off without a hitch. My oldest daughter however ended up with a botched job. I specified from the beginning I didn't want it too short. I pointed three inches below the shoulder at what the length should've been. Instead we got three above the shoulder. I am livid!!! My daughter is upset. She even admitted she as wrong and said it was free. Letty tried everything to make us feel better but the damage is done. We can't glue the hair back. My advise to anyone who goes here steer clear of Julie's chair. She does not follow direction, she just does what she wants. I truly don't understand how she even has a job there. Zero stars for her but 4 stars for the other two who actually listened and did a great job. read more

My prior hair stylist had begun cutting my hair as she thought it should be. I have been to Desiree 4 times and always been happy. I have naturally curly hair - VERY curly - so I'm usually cautious about who I let cut it. But, times and the economy being what they are, I decided to go for something cheap. HUUUUGE mistake. I'm positive there are other places that can give you a cheapy $15 haircut and give a far better experience. I've literally never cut anyone's hair in my life but I'm certain I could do a better job than any of the "stylists" there. If the horrible haircuts aren't bad enough, they treat every customer like an annoyance.. as if you are disturbing their off time or something. My husband and I went t Great clips in Santee and he specifically asked for them not to use clipper and that he just wanted a trim around the ears a faded along the sides with scissors, the hairstylist ignores my husband request and uses clippers and does a horrible job on his haircut ... dont recommend this place and will never return read more

I have taken my son here many times over the past year and a half (mainly because my husband bought one of the cards that keep the price at $9.99). I just ask for a little boy's haircut and it never turns out the same despite the notes from previous visits. I actually took my son back twice to have his hair fixed. Usually the bangs are messed up or there are random patches of untrimmed hair. The only stylist I liked was Deziree. She was great. After my son's last botched haircut (resulting in me shaving his head at home), we will not be returning. read more

This place has always been crap. I stopped going 4 years ago but had a coupon and took my self and son in for cuts. The hairstylist who cut my hair was so nice and I felt I could trust her. Yeah, conversation was diversion tactic so you don't pay attention to a crappy haircut! So uneven and missed most of the split ends on the "trim" I asked for. My sons hairstylist asked about a million times how it should be cut. I gave her straight forward and simple instructions; short on sides and a little longer on top so he could spike it up if he wanted to. I told her we don't know the numbers, please stop asking. She said, "well, the computer says...." and I reminded her at least a dozen times that we hadn't been in since my son was 4 and that styles have changed - so we do not go by what the computer notes say. She chopped his hair so uneven, we have to just let it grow out or shave it off. I have never gotten good haircuts here. Serves me right for being cheap and trying it on a coupon. I explained to the hairstylist what I wanted and we seemed to be in agreement but she ended up chopping it off in one straight line and much shorter than I expected. Twice in the past 4 months I attempted to get my hair cut here. Both times I left without a haircut, for the same reason: when I arrived, a hair-cutter was checking in a customer, looked up, smiled and said have a seat, I'll check you in when I'm done with this customer. I sat, the customer sat when she was checked in, and the hair cutter went back to her customer in the hair cutting chair. I waited for 15 minutes for someone to check me in. No one ever did. Meanwhile, there is an employee wandering around, sweeping up (apparently his only job, since he didn't check me in---they should train him to check people in). Mind you, this same scenario played out twice--while I was waiting, still unchecked-in, another customer walked in, got checked in, and had a seat, while the hair cutter went back to her cutting chair--no eye contact with me whatsoever. I think she may have been intimidated by my waist-length hair. Not the only time this location has ignored me: 5 or 6 years ago, my hair was way past my waist, and I heard on the radio that great clips was having an event that was donating hair to the Locks of Love program, so I went in and they told me they couldn't donate my hair because of the gray: at that time, I had a little bit of gray at the temples only, and the portion I had planned to donate had no gray in it at all. I looked up Locks of Love online, and their policy at that time was they would take any hair, any color, as long as it was 10 inches or longer. It seems that this particular branch needs leadership and customer service training, but of course, I'll never go back there. read more
