I visited this salon in December because I was looking for a salon closer to me, as my regular curly hair stylist is based in Los Angeles, and I wasn't going up there anytime soon. I specifically requested a stylist who specializes in curly haircuts. When booking the appointment, I asked the receptionist directly if the stylist I was scheduled with specialized in curly hair. I was told yes. When I arrived and checked in, I asked again and received the same confirmation When I met with the stylist, I showed several reference photos, all with the same curl pattern and texture as my hair. I was very clear about what I liked and, more importantly, what I disliked in each photo. Above all, I explained that I was looking for more volume and more layers. It became apparent during the cut that the stylist did not know how to properly cut textured or curly hair and was not truly trained as a curly hair specialist. As the cut progressed, it was clear that my mid-layers were cut significantly shorter than my top layers, creating an uneven shape that did not support curl formation or volume. By the time we got to styling, I was honestly just over it. I left the salon disappointed with the result. I should have spoken up in the moment, but as someone in her mid-40s who has had curly hair her entire life, I know when a stylist simply does not have the training. There is no benefit in critiquing technique that isn't there. Stylists may be taught the basics of cutting curly hair in school, but that does not make them specialists. Curly hair requires advanced training, certifications, and ongoing education. I specifically requested a specialist, and that distinction was not honored. If you have straight hair and are looking for a basic blowout or loose curled blowout, this salon is likely a good fit for you. However, if you have any texture or curl pattern at all, I would strongly recommend avoiding this salon and seeking out a stylist who is truly trained in textured and curly hair. After this appointment, I went to Los Angeles to see my regular curly hair stylist. She had to correct the cut, address the uneven layering, and reshape my hair entirely. The difference was night and day. My curls were defined, clumped, full of volume, and healthy. They were not frizzy. The photos speak for themselves. I'm sharing this to be honest and helpful. Accurate representation of stylist expertise matters, especially for clients with textured or curly hair.
Had a great experience with Mandi Elwood-Mansour. Very friendly, attentive and approachable. I liked the balayage she did for me. She was also very mindful to get me done in time.

I worked directly with Stevie herself, and she is an absolute gem: sweet, kind, funny, and a total wizard with hair. She is a must book. She matched my inspo pic perfectly while keeping it realistic, worked quickly, and shared tips and insights that I've never gotten from any other stylist. The salon itself is large, roomy, and has an upscale vibe that makes you feel pampered from the moment you walk in. Private parking? Massive. Location? Santee shopping center, right by all the good stores: Target, DSW, 24 Hour Fitness. Honestly, it doesn't get better than this. The quality and craftsmanship are unmatched. I wanted a lush, updated 90's layered look with a vibrant chocolate brown for fall, and Stevie absolutely delivered. Her assistant was also super friendly, making the whole experience feel like a fun girls' day out. My hair now? Soft, shiny, smells like heaven--and I'm obsessed. If you want someone who truly gets it, Stevie is the one. Consider this your official warning: you may never want anyone else touching your hair again! I know I won't! ;)
This was my first time coming to Stevie Salon. My first impression of the place is small but cute and very clean. They also played good music. My service was booked with Carly. Carly is the sweetest. She's very knowledgeable and talented. I had showed her my inspo pics before my appointment, and she managed to achieve what I was asking for in a four hour period. Throughout the entire session, she was very accommodating. She made my experience enjoyable. I received a full babylight with a haircut and shampoo and conditioner. The services didn't disappoint. I didn't question her work. I trusted her and the process. I definitely will recommend her if you're a new client looking for results. I will be referring my friends to Carly in the near future. Can't wait to book my next service with her. Keep up the good work!
Beautiful place and welcoming people, I came to Stevie The Salon with about 10 shades of yellow, Stevie didn't promise perfection since my hair was a complete disaster BUT I literally got goosebumps when I saw the final results, I wanted to get as close to my natural brown hair and she delivered!!! I loooove it!!!
My granddaughter Bella has been coming here for years! Normally we see Cyan but today we had Taylor H. who did an amazing job! Bella has long hair and had a lived in color with extra blonde highlights and Taylor H. did amazing! The salon is always so friendly and very good with their clients! I highly recommend Stevie the Salon!
***STAY AWAY*** I booked with Stevie (owner) and instead received treatment from very inexperienced apprentices who ultimately fucked up my hair. My wedding is in 6 weeks and I booked Stevie bc I liked her work on instagram, had I known this was a teaching salon and she would be delegating 80% of the work to her students, I would have NEVER came. So starting out, she was 25 minutes late getting me back to the chair, she told me to compensate she would throw in a free shine bomb and hair treatment (never happened). Ok great, showed her my inspo pics, told her about my wedding. She started foiling my hair but after 15 min she ran to another client to do a cut.. ok the apprentice takes over and takes me to the blow dryer, then washes my hair and adds a color root melt and toner. He then takes me back to the chair and starts blow drying. I am completely shocked my hair is full on blonde!! I almost started crying and complained to which they had to tone me again. While he's toning me for the 2nd time, Stevie is with a different client doing her foils (this is a different from client from the cut). By this point, we're 3 hours in and I'm super anxious and time crunched. My hair is not at the desired color I wanted but I just wanted to leave. They charged me $406 for a lived in balayage. Two days later this what my hair looks like (photos below). I reached out and asked if I could come in for a toner. Stevie said it was my shampoo that stripped the color and that she wouldn't fix it bc she wasn't the stylist for me. She then proceeded to give me only a partial refund. I'm now left with terrible hair weeks before my wedding

My hair has a lot of damage, but she was able to preserve its integrity while giving me exactly what I wanted. It looks absolutely beautiful, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Yesenia is my go to person here at the salon and has consistently been my hair dresser for years. I always trust her with the process of what I want and have never been disappointed. I always leave my hair appointments feeling great about my hair and ALWAYS get compliments from people. Yesenia should not be cutting hair. This is nothing like what I asked for. It doesn't resemble the photo I showed her at all. My bangs came out longer than the rest of my hair, and the back is completely missing. I never requested an A-line cut. Now I understand why she avoided showing me the back when she finished--it looks awful. I only discovered how bad it really was once I got home. read more
I've been seeing Stevie for over 10 years, and I genuinely don't trust anyone else with my hair. She is incredibly talented, deeply educated in all things hair, and consistently delivers results that exceed my expectations. Every visit feels like you're in the hands of a true expert. Her salon reflects the same level of excellence. The space is always spotless, beautifully maintained, and has such a clean, trendy, modern vibe--you feel elevated just walking in. The environment is warm, welcoming, and clearly designed with intention. The standard Stevie sets for her team is unmatched. All of the stylists in her salon are top-tier--many trained directly under her or went through the same rigorous education she's known for. She also mentors her assistants personally and only hires those who meet her high expectations, which means you truly can't go wrong with any stylist there. I've never had anything less than a wonderful experience. From the talent, to the atmosphere, to the consistency and care, Stevie's salon is exceptional in every way. I wanna preface this by saying I'm 36. I've never been the type to have a specific stylist I go to. I used to just pop into whichever salon was closest and get a trim, whatever. But let me tell you... I will NEVER let ANYONE but Serena touch my hair ever again. This woman has absolutely transformed my hair and I have never loved it as much as I do right now. I have been to this salon now three times and worked with Stella. Stella is a true gem. She is educational on how to better your Hair maintenance and very detailed. I am always happy with my hair. Yes but everyone that works here is in independent contractor and not employed by the salon; call the front desk to inquire which stylists specialize in updos ❤️🙂
