I am appalled by the customer service at this Sunnyvale location. The stylist at Chair #1 completely lost control of her emotions and threw a tantrum while I was trying to communicate my haircut preferences. She interrupted me repeatedly and became so aggressive and hostile that I felt unsafe and had to walk out with a half-done haircut. Having to leave mid-haircut and pay another barbershop to fix the mess is unacceptable. If you value your peace of mind and safety, stay away from this place. read more

The 2 people who cut my hair (maybe more) of this location aren't trained properly to cut hair. I asked for a bald fade and they left my haircut uneven. The 1st lady (older) seemed lost in her cutting and tried to blend from where she wasn't supposed to. The second lady (Anh - Regional Manager) left me with a line all around my head. She tried to fixed it, but there's still some areas where lines show and the fade on the each side are uneven (too high on right and too short on left). I was going to pay regardless, but Anh insisted to not pay bc I wasn't satisfied. I told her it's not about the money, but the quality, professionalism, and training they lack of in this location. Never coming back until they train their staff properly. My head looks like a cactus and I have to wear a hat for the next two weeks P.S. Had my haircut done today. read more

I would not recommend this place if you were assigned female at birth and wish to keep it that way. I asked her to trim off 1 inch, straight across my back. First time at GreatClips, and I'm very pleased with the service and results. Thu was my stylist, and she was very precise and professional. She didn't waste time being chatty, and I prefer that. Since March 17, the last time the barber shop was open, I must have a dozen coupons, wondering when I could cash in on the offer. July 6 I get my first haircut since March 16, the day before the county shutdown. Only the haircut is in Redwood Shores, 18 miles away, in San Mateo county where haircuts are allowed. July 13,14 Santa Clara county approves hair salons to open, only to close July 15 by statewide order of the Governor. July 20 CA allows hair salons to open outdoors only. Tuesday August 4, I'm walking by and see Great Clips giving haircuts outdoors! Two customers, in masks, six feet apart, being trimmed by employees in masks, one also with a face shield. A third chair for customer hair trimming is empty. I don't see the need for screens around the operations, as you want the wind to disperse the virus droplets, and no privacy issues, as everyone is nonrecognizable, wearing masks. Talk to the employee, and she says today is a test run. They will be open only Fridays and Saturdays, with client check in at www.greatclips.com, CA state rules requiring customer's to give their e-mails, and to wait in their cars. E-mails required in case contact tracing should an employee or client test positive for covid-19. $18 for a hair cut, $16 for kids 10 & under, and seniors 65+. Use the coupon and the hair cut is $13 for an old fart like myself. OK I don't need a hair cut today, but my wife sure does. $13 for seniors like her, as no hair cut since February and her hair has grown from above the ears to below her shoulders. Never been a fan of chains but this is an ok spot in a pinch. $21 for standard haircut. Lines get long because people make reservations online. I recommend you do the same to avoid 30+ minute wait times. This is a Vietnamese staff so they're pretty good with knowing the mechanics of the hair for people of Asian descent. Fades are fine. Blending jobs are mediocre (see photos), but they are extremely attentive about making sure you get the haircut you want. I was lucky to get squeezed in the schedule. There are better places out there but this is good in an emergency. Give these barbers a tip. read more

Thu (/Tu) did a great and efficient job cutting my son's hair. He likes to keep it long, and yet some hair stylists insist on cutting it shorter than he'd prefer "because he's a boy." Huge S/O to Lexy! she did an amazing job fading the sides of my head and taking her time lining me up. After four years of going to the same barber, it's tough finding someone I'm comfortable with cutting my hair. I know I can just go to anybody whose good but I don't feel like driving and paying high when I have to gamble their skill on my head. I'm not asking for much anymore like I used to. I used to get shadow fades on the side to a taper blend. I usually leave the top but I get hard lines for my comb over and other designs. I know I can still get them but I just want to keep it simple.. for now. It's great to finally have someone who can just give me a great clean up whenever i need to! I live right around the block from Great Clips and it's convenient. Lexy is a kind person with great energy; She's open and has the skills to cut modern-style haircuts in today's time. Horrible!! Not good for women. My hair length going in was 4" below my shoulder blades. I asked for a TRIM!! with length just below the shoulder. I showed the butcher, AHN where I wanted it to land. Required simple straight cut to clean up the split ends. I ended up with a short bob just below my ears. The first thing she did was to take a RAZOR to my hair to check the length. I asked her not to use the razor as it causes MORE split ends. She then just lopped off one side. She thought she was done but one side was shorter. I pointed it out and she took MORE off the shorter side. Finally, she corrected both sides to be even, about 3 inches above my shoulder. She then took a plastic brush and proceeded to brush out my hair but digging into my scalp, causing pain with each brush. She then pulled the back of my wavy hair to say see, just ABOVE the shoulder. NOPE. WHEN DRY, it is very short. I was done before the man who sat down before me with short hair. Horrible service. Horrible cut. STAY AWAY from AHN if you are unlucky enough to get her. read more

DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR!!!! I asked for hair at least 4 inches in length but they decided to nearly buzz it and proceeded to tell me that it was the same length as the image I showed. It was too short to even make curls so I had to walk around with slicked back hair to fix it. I could not even stop the cutting because the lady just went straight down the middle to start. The worst part is that my senior portraits are in 2 days and it will not be able to grow back by then. They DO NOT know how to work with curly hair and only work decently with straight hair.
