My husband and I visited this Kenilworth restaurant in August, 2021. The menu was limited, but the food we had was pretty good - chicken and a spicy General Tsao's cauliflower dish. Best dishes were actually the rolls and the crispy brussels sprouts. Our server was very nice, and quite helpful. We would definitely return, but would try other entrée items. read more

Great Coast has delicious food and is always super accommodating with their gluten free items. My son has Celiac and they have a variety of gluten free items with a dedicated separate fryer. Their gluten free fried chicken is amazing and they'll even make the side of Mac n cheese gf too! Even better are the folks who pick up the phone and deliver your food to the car. We just had a wonderful meal celebrating my mom's birthday here tonight. The food was special and delicious - we shared the beet salad and brisket flatbread, and then had the white fish and salmon mains that were unique, creative and delicious! My husband had the fried chicken sandwich and it was amazing - the biscuit it's served on was out of this world! They were so generous and treated us to a chocolate (GF) birthday cake - you would never know it was gluten free! The staff was so nice, attentive and friendly, and the owner came outside and talked to us afterwards. Everything from the food, the ambiance, the service and the meal were excellent. This is where you want to go and enjoy a great dinner with your family. I can here with two of my girls who are 10. Had great Mac and cheese. Got some Brussels sprouts to start. And with old fashion that was perfect. (Mike at the bar makes them and he will make you feel like you have known him for years). The place itself has a busy New York City restaurant feel. With a causal friendly vibe. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I started with the Tuscan bean soup which was full of beans, vegetables, and pasta. It was hardy enough to eat with a fork. The soup was chunky warm and hardy with a soothing and enjoyable flavor. It was kind of like a warm hug on a cold winter's night. We also tried the monkey bread. Which was very good as well. The inside was warm soft goodness the outside just flaky enough to add texture with out being a crumbly mess. It had a hint of salty and sweet going on too which made it highly enjoyable. For dinner I had the herb garlic roast chicken who came with broccoli and crispy garlic potatoes. The chicken was tender and juicy with a satisfying flavor, the broccoli was perfectly cooked with an almost smoky flavor. The potatoes were firm and crisp on the outside but soft and garlicky on the inside. We also had an order of brussell sprouts which were perfectly cooked with a mild yet satisfying flavor. For dessert we had the chocolate layer cake. It was sweet, creamy, and decevingly light. A very delicious meal all around. I also noticed there menu has something for everyone. From vegan dishes to steak and everything in the middle you will find something you like. Also they know how to make a proper sidecar which not all places do. I'd describe there food as eclectic comfort food. For a restaurant that's only been open 5 weeks they are nailing. Can't wait to go back. read more

We ate at the restaurant on a Saturday night. A crowded and compact environment. Monkey bread and Brussel sprouts were excellent. The Greek salad was one of the best. The entree of black cod was tasteless and the mashed potatoes were watery. It took a long time for our entrees to come since the order was not placed in a timely manner. read more

Let me start off by saying our service was excellent. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. No issues whatsoever with the service. Our food however was disappointing. We had two different appetizers (the monkey bread and the brussel sprouts). The monkey bread tasted very fresh, but was on the plain side and the dill butter was very bland. The brussel sprouts were on the opposite end of the spectrum and were extremely salty and oily. For entrees, we had the general Tsao's cauliflower which was super over sauced and tasted as if it had sat for 15 minutes while the other food was being prepared and the rice was mushy and overcooked. The New York strip was unseasoned and tough. The kids chicken strips were literally flavorless and dry and the fries had an excellent flavor but were cold. Sigh. Now my husband ordered the filet mignon and he said that was excellent! Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. Sadly the rest of the meal was a disappointment and definitely not a $200 meal. Given the rest of the good reviews, maybe we hit this place on an off night for the kitchen. read more

Awesome new spot! Followed the other 5 star reviews and was not disappointed. We got there at the tail end of happy hour and started with some oysters, the vegan tacos, and a Bloody Maria. I'm not vegan, however the tacos were amazing. Full of flavor! Our server, Serena was awesome. Knowledgeable, at tentative, and very friendly. We had the burger and the Faroe Island Salmon for our main entrees which equally met up to the 5 star standard. They don't take reservations, so you have to get there early. Great neighborhood spot on the North Shore with an eclectic menu. My wife got a steak and I got a vegetarian Spicy Thai Curry and a kale salad, and we both loved it. The freshness of the vegetables came through in every bite of the curry even though it had a nice kick to it. Flourless chocolate cake for dessert was totally chocolate without all the heaviness. Staff is very accommodating and the owner lives in Kenilworth, so he really cares. read more

I have been twice in the first two weeks since opening, once as a date night with couples, and once with my three teenage boys. The host and our servers have been fantastic: attentive, timely, kind and thoughtful. Very hard to pull off during the chaos of the first month. The atmosphere lively and hip but also totally accessible for families going on the early side. During both visits the restaurant was filled. I highly recommend the Lyonnaise salad, the French fries are quite good and Salmon was delicious. Wonderful addition too the neighborhood! read more

Finally, a restaurant I can walk to in my neighborhood. It took me a few months before checking out Great Coast Commons but now I can't stay away. I carry out about once a week and it's usually the same, burgers or filet and no matter what I order vegan tacos for appetizer are a must. I'm also a huge fan of the short rib flatbread and who can go wrong with a side of mac & cheese. I can't rate the service, as I have yet to eat at the restaurant but carry out is easy and the food is always great. read more

Ate there last night for the first time, and we absolutely loved it. First, the service is fantastic. I tried to make a reservation and they were full. However, they had a cancellation later, and without me asking, they called to see if I wanted that spot. I have never had a restaurant do that - that's fantastic. When we were there it was the same level of service, with several people helping out with our table, giving helpful recommendations, and being complete professionals. The atmosphere is really classy. And the food was amazing! We had the cauliflower hummus appetizer. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors and textures even better. It's served with an amazing, warm, soft roti bread. I don't recommend this for anyone who doesn't like cumin, as that came through prominently, but we like cumin. Main course we shared the specials, which were a crispy whitefish sandwich with a side of hush puppies, and general tso's cauliflower, which we added chicken to. The sandwich was really good, though I recommend less tartar sauce, as I think that covered some of the other flavors too much. The general tso's cauliflower was amazing. My wife and I are hesitant to use superlatives... But we both said it was THE best cauliflower we have ever had. I don't know what they did to it, but it was crispy yet soft and delicate yet bursting with flavor, and I know those seem contradictory, but... You just have to have it to see. Even the buttered noodles for the kids was fancier than any kids-buttered-noodles we've seen. The drinks were good, nothing special, but good. Someone who was not our waiter came around and asked if I wanted another drink, and he gave a fantastic recommendation for a beer off the top of his head based on a simple question of "what lagers do you have". But I like that he pointed toward a specific one rather than listing everything. We will be back many times. read more

Had dinner at GCCs recently w 2 friends. The place was packed so we ate at the bar. This gave us the opportunity to chat with the bartender as well as meet the owner. Got Carrie else tonight and they were quite enjoyable. I have the fried chicken on the cheese biscuit and it was phenomenal. My husband enjoyed the flatbread and the two of us devoured the fries. I've become a recent fan of Great Coast Commons since quarantining started back in March. I've ordered out multiple times and the service and food is always spectacular! I'm a huge fan of the fried chicken sandwich on a cheddar biscuit and have been pleased with all the other items I've tried. I've also dined at their outdoor summer grill on the corner of Green Bay Road and Park Drive. They have an outdoor kitchen with a unique menu of grilled skewers, salads, pizza and more as well as a full bar. Tables are spaced out in the grass making it easy to social distance and feel comfortable. You just go up to the bar and order your drinks and food and all your food is delivered to your table. You can leave your tab open to go back up and order additional drinks and food making for a relaxing summer evening. All the staff, both in the main restaurant and the outdoor grill are so welcoming, helpful and kind. Highly recommend checking Great Coast Commons if you haven't already! read more

Tonight was the second time we ordered from Great Coast -- the first was the standing rib roast on New Year's Eve, and tonight we ordered the pot pie dinner as part of my mom's birthday celebration. The rib roast was cooked to perfection and well seasoned, and the pot pie was comforting and delicious. Staff was very friendly, and everything was packaged to make home assembly easy. Just had a most delightful dinner at Great Coast Commons! From our great Manhattan and Sauvignon blanc to our cappuccinos, everything was superb. The mushroom soup with a beet reduction and goat cheese was exceptional- a wonderful blend of flavors. The roast chicken with peppers and roasted potatoes sounded ordinary but was anything but- the peppers were tasty and the chicken so tender with a nice gremolata crust. The star of this dish were the roasted potatoes- beautifully crunchy on the outside and tender inside - outstanding! A wonderful Saturday night dinner! read more

We had friends (we're all vaccinated) over for dinner last night. The first time we've socialized since the pandemic started. I ordered the salmon family meal for the four of us and it was fabulous. Salmon was perfectly cooked; potatoes and roasted broccolini were delicious and the green salad was right on the money. It all arrived piping hot. And there were leftovers! I think we waited a little over an hour in the crowded, but lively, bar area. Good drinks. Avocado appetizer was really tasty, lightly fried. Brussels sprouts were also very good, not best ever, but good quality and flavor. Burger was just average, but the buttered bun was delicious. Short rib flatbread was unique.
