I religiously go to a specific barber but this past Saturday I procrastinated and made no appointment. I had an event at 3pm and it was already 12pm... Was getting desperate for a quick cut. I got on Yelp and found great cuts & noticed a lot of good reviews for Vinh. I drove up and he was available. Asked him for a fade and trim on top. He took his time & paid close attention to detail: I really appreciated it. For the price of $14, this was a great, emergency solution for me. Super mid in my opinion. Walked in for a haircut. Asked for a high taper fade and a little off the top. The lady started and stopped multiple times to ask the other barber if it was right or not. After ~10 minutes, she stopped and let the other person take over. At that point, I was already iffy about the cut, but had to let them continue to try and salvage it. Ultimately, the other barber did an okay job, but it wasn't what I asked for. I ended with a low taper fade and a little off the top. They charged me an extra $5 because I got a taper. It wasn't posted anywhere that I could have seen. Won't be going back to this place. read more

Great, I got my haircut by Kim and she was amazing. She really took the time and made sure that my hair was perfect. She was detail oriented and blended my hair to perfection. She was also very friendly and communicative and asked me how I wanted my hair. Kim is great and I definitely recommend getting a haircut from her! She is great with men's cuts and women cut and color. Definitely check this place out for good service and ask for Kim. read more

I ended up here out of pure curiosity after my sister wanted a haircut. I was next door getting a pedicure and walked in to ask about lady's haircuts and wait time. The lady was very nice and stated she could cut my sisters hair in 10 minutes. My sister waited and got her haircut and loved it. I brought my son in and requested the type of haircut I wanted for him. He got his haircut but I requested it too short so that was my fault. Haircut was clean and well done. The suggestion next time was a 4 instead of a 2 which I appreciated it so I know next time. I walked in today to get a quick trim and it came out great! I requested a short trim and that's exactly what I got. My hair was cut into layers and all the dead ends were cut off. My hair was styled and I was sent on my way. My hair looks healthy! I love the service and the work done at this place! My son was serviced by Vinh. My sister by Tiffany. Myself by the other woman in the salon. Will continue to keep coming and get my haircuts here. Wonderful service and clean environment. We normally look for the same young Vietnamese woman (Tiffany) all the time but she does a really good job on our 2.5 year olds haircut everytime despite him being very difficult. They always do a great job for a fraction of the costs of other places. In addition with a difficult kid like ours - they are fast and have never cut him like other places. I haven't been happy with my usual place lately. My cuts have been a little hit or miss, and mostly miss. Although it could be due to the fact my hair's getting thin and has receded a good bit. I had been letting my hair grow out for the past several weeks, and was going to try a mid-length layered cut instead of the usual side fade, but my wife thought started looking like I was wearing a toupee. I got a gentleman named Vinh, and asked him for a fade and keep the top a a little bit longer. Watching him work he seemed like a true craftsman. He wasn't rushed and his work shows it. This is the place to go for hair cuts. I go here every 3 weeks or so to get a trim and the people here are nice, respectful, and pay close attention to detail. Let me counter some of these reviews that don't understand this business. It is a family business so sometimes they are closed at random times during the day. And secondly, it is a walk-ins welcome place, which I appreciate a lot, so appointments might not be honored at exactly that time. Eh I don't know if I came in on the wrong day or wrong time, because I obviously did not find this place to be 5 stars like all the other Yelpers. I came in on a Sunday afternoon, around 1pm. There's 2 barbers working, one being Vinh, and the other I assume is Tiffany based on reviews. The thing about this location is that it is on the super crowded part of Tully where there are a tons of traffic, so getting to the tiny plaza can take some time even if you live super close to it. By the way, it is in the plaza next to the McDonald's, if you need help finding it. Plus one star for having the air conditioner on. A lot of Vietnamese barbers/salons that I've been to don't have AC, so it is nice to feel the breeze, especially in this burning weather. Coming in at 1pm on a Sunday, there were 2 guys in line, which is normal, and waited around half an hour before Vinh asked me to go get my haircut. He asked how I want it, and I told him what I am looking for (a side comb over/pushed up front/line fade/zero on the side). While he was very focused and dedicated on shaving/fading the sides, he pretty much ignored what I asked for about the top. He made it very short and straight so the comb over shape is not even present anymore. He did not do a line for the side, and a sloppy/not clean line for the front. He also did a very, very, bad job cleaning me, you know how most barbers will use a towel and blowdryer to clean hair off your head/face? He pretty much just half-assedly wiped me with a towel, aimed the blow dryer at me for less than 5 seconds, then told me it is done. This place charges $10 for haircuts for men, not including tips. Just on Tully Rd itself there's other places that charges less, but I don't know how good they are, but I might as well go visit next time since I really do not feel that I would come back here again, even if it has AC. The place is located in a plaza with the Domino's Pizza, but it shares a pretty small lot. The search for a solid barber in San Jose continues. read more

My boyfriend has been going here for his haircuts since, i think, even before middle school. He'd ride his bike here from home. He only likes to get his haircut from Tiffany. I decided to go here to get my hair done as well and they're great! Tiffany is really nice, and really tries to do her best at fixing up your hair. I'm not too sure about everyone else who works there. Prices are decent. There can be a wait for Tiffany at times, so I suggest going earlier in the day if you can. They close at 7pm and Tiffany isn't there from Sunday - Tuesday. Tip: Park in the McDonald's parking lot next door because it's such a hassle to take a left out of the Great Cuts parking lot. read more

Sitting in one of the many small plazas along Tully Rd., the location is easy to miss, but once you've been there, it's hard to look elsewhere. I personally like to get my haircut by Vinh (the guy), but all three of us are 'forced' to wait for him. Others who come in after us get priority. So our wait time increases exponentially, and we're told that they are busy. Mind you, I've been coming here for almost 12 years, but this last experience has broken the camels back. Three words to know first: Ask for Tiffany. Been going here for over 6+ years so y'all can hold me liable! Call ahead of time to schedule an appointment because she's usually booked through out the day. Wouldn't recommend a walk in because you would have to wait awhile since she takes her time with haircuts (texturizing, chopping, and what else..?). She really takes the time to understand exactly what you want and she for sure knows what she's doing. Not sure about men hair cut rates, but for women medium it is $18 and $25 for long. There are two other barbers, but they don't have as any customers compared to Tiffany. Been satisfied with every visit so I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a new go to hair salon. read more

I only go here for my eyebrows, it's only $8 not including tips. Ha is her name, and she is super meticulous towards my brows. I got to know her over time because I go to her pretty much consistently. She not only waxes them, she would tweeze the strays and trim the top if it's uneven. She also applies soothing lavender oil on them to keep my skins from breaking out/ getting irritated. ALSO, They do accept debit/credit cards! Yay! read more

Open on Sundays - Great place for guy haircuts. Ladies, I'd only get my eyebrows waxed here - I'd worry about my hair here. My husband went here to get his haircut when he was in the police academy as they were the only place he could afford ($8 for men) and they're open on Sundays. His regular stylist for over a year left the salon, and the owner asked if he'd be willing to let her cut his hair. She has been his hair stylist ever since for 3 years, faithfully every 2 weeks he gets his high and tight. Ask for Tiffany - she's great! I have tried getting my hair cut here a handful of times only to be disappointed 100% of the time. Tiffany is one of those rare hair stylist that actually cares about your hair and takes the time to make it come out great. I think thats why this is called Great cuts :P ... A good chat, and a sweet fade. I told her i like my hair combed to the side and she actually massaged my scalp with a brush and a blow dryer to shape my hair.. On top of it, i barely got any hair on my clothes because it wasnt rushed and sloppy. The guy here is fantastic as well . Tried both of em and they both took their time on my hair. I've been to almost every highly reviewed place on Yelp here just to get a crew cut, and they have all failed a simple crew cut (uneven, blotchy etc.). This is the only place who delivers great even cuts every time from all 3 of the barbers. Great place, good price. Friendly, and also Tiffany is a totally cute.
