Omg this guy David is so unprofessional to say the least. I usually transfer my firearms through the nearest pawnshop which is about 20 miles away so I thought for once I use someone that's located in the same city. I contacted him and asked if I could do the transfer, he agreed so I thought cool! Well when my firearm was delivered to him, two weeks later I hear nothing. I tracked through UPS. I know it's very busy nowadays with what's going on so I wait patiently. Other places I usually get a phone call saying my package has arrived and an appointment is scheduled .I finally call and inquire about my firearm. David answers and says "oh ok can you come tomorrow to do paperwork?"
I come by and he acts like he doesn't remember scheduling for the time he requested. There is someone else there doing a transfer at this time. Wow really?! I give him all the paperwork that I've used to purchase the previous 10 firearms. He says I need a birth certificate. I told him that I just purchased a firearm two weeks prior and I wasn't required to show a birth certificate. I ask him if this is something new? He said no, it's been like that for the longest time. He says I can email it later. I finish all my paperwork and I ask if I pay now. He says no, pay when my background check / DROS comes back. I thought this was very strange to say the least.
As I was leaving I inquired about transferring another firearm. David said yes, he could do it. I gave him the sellers info so he could send his FFL info. I asked him if he could send me an email confirming that he sent it. He said yes, of course, he would send it "now".
Well the next morning I ask the seller if David had sent his info , the seller said no.
I tried to call David but he didn't answer. I emailed asking if he sent his FFl info . He said "I just sent it".
Well two days go by and the seller never got it. By this time I'm a little pissed.
I tried to call, no answer. I email explaining my disappointment with his service. I told him that I felt like I was being discriminated against and if he didn't want to do business with me to send my firearm to the place where I did my last firearm transfer - Bass Pro Shop. I then ask him if he really did send my Dros application the day I filled out my paperwork. He said yes.
I let it go and just wait for the Dros to clear since he said he already sent it.
Well I wait at least 10 days.
Me waiting patiently as usual and I hear nothing from David. I then decide to email him asking about the progress of my application.
He then emails me back saying he lost my paperwork and that he was very sorry.
I know this was pure BS. I was already thinking about filing a complaint with the state licensing board. He said he wouldn't charge me for the transfer, that he knew he F'd up. I so no, I will pay full price. He said he appreciated my willingness to still pay full price after the way he treated me.
He asked if I still wanted him to deliver the firearm to Bass Pro Shop. I said no, to just finish what has been started. He then again said I wouldn't be charged anything for the transfer because of his mistake .
Well I wait another 10 days and to my surprise David calls me and says my firearm is ready for pickup.
I get there, he has other people there doing some type of paperwork. I sign two pages and stamp my thumbprint. He then asks if I paid already. I say no he then says I owe the full price, after he says he wouldn't charge me because of his mistake. I didn't say anything and paid the amount because I have integrity, unlike him.
I purchased many firearms from different places but this is the first time transferring from an individual at their residence.
My honest opinion of David, he doesn't know what he is doing. I know more about the law and paperwork than him. He even decided to discriminate against me for the way I looked (I'm Hispanic and bald) which is why he blew me off and lied to me saying he sent In my Dros application when he really didn't, when he said twice that he emailed his FFL to seller when he didn't!
What a compete nightmare of a FFL transfer experience.
I will be contacting the state/federal licensing board to do a thorough investigation into David's business practices. read more
