I called them due to the A/C not working. The technician showed up on time. He ran his diagnostics and told me the compressor was damaged as well as an obstruction in the coolant line. He said the difference between fixing it and a new unit would differ by only $1000. He had his salesmen come out and run the estimate. My wife and I told them we would sleep on it. In the meantime, we had another independent technician come out. He pointed out that Great Dane took my capacitor on the A/C unit. He replaced the missing capacitor and could not find an issue with the unit. It is running fine. Our house is maintaining its temp. The 2 service calls cost me as follows -Great Dane $129, and the independent technician $185. the second opinion saved me what would have been a repair of $6k or a suggested new unit of 8K. I am Glad i called for a second opinion. I also had asked twice for a breakdown of the suggested repair, i still haven't received it. The only quote given to me was for the new unit. They are only looking out for themselves, be careful. read more

I am with a protection plan through DTE My furnace broke down and needs attention so they were referred to me told me over and over again the service is under our warranty They guy Dominic came in didn't want to come in but came in got upset with me because I didn't know the name of my furnace nor did I know exactly what was wrong with my furnace isn't that his job? He insulted me not once but twice during his visit. I had to leave I know I could my son is over 18 and could answer any questions he may have when I left; he walked out I still don't have heat the Dominic guy was insulting cruel. Telling me my services would not be covered and I am wasting his time he does not have the part he has to order and then left. I reported them three times to DTE because I am not happy. Do they have customer respect no and ladies if your a widow and have no idea what is going on with your heating and cooling don't let them insult you its okay tell them to get out find another company. read more

I would give this company 0 stars if I could. They are dishonest and will not follow up. They installed a new furnace. They convinced me to put in a larger coil for the AC. When the AC compressor failed the following summer, another company pointed out I did not have the larger coil. We only needed our ac unit moved a couple feet. . When they finally put it back . They put the parts to our ac unit on backwards Causing it to break an we had no ac for about 3 weeks. Than when we called them to come back an fix it they couldn't even call us back . To this day We are still waiting for a phone call. Today, Dominic Orow from Great Dane came to my house. My thermostat was offline, and I could not get it to reconnect. He was able to get the thermostat reconnected in no time. However, this was not the main problem. I have a home protection plan through Consumers Energy, and because of the way the home protection plan works, he had to receive another work order to complete it. This was a problem for the people from Consumers. They told me they would have to submit a new work order, but I had to wait four hours for them to complete it. I tried to explain that I am disabled and cannot get too hot, which causes issues. Dominic got on the phone and spoke to the representative, and after a bit of back and forth, he asked to speak to a supervisor. He was told that there were no supervisors available. We were put on hold. When the rep returned, she stated that no one else was available to talk to. Dominic again told her he wanted to speak to a supervisor or contact the field supervisor. We were put on hold again, but when she returned to the line this time, she had a work order and claim number ready to go. If Dominic had not stepped in to assist, I would still be without air conditioning and probably in the ER! Once he got the new work order, the problem was fixed in no time. Had an air-conditioning unit put in a few years ago. Just brought to my attention the pad they used is too small for the unit! Which can lead to instability, uneven weight distribution, and potential damage to the unit and it's components. Among other things. I've called and No one has called me back about this problem. We were having issues with our air conditioner in one of those super hot weeks of Summerville, we called Great Dane *after* TWO OTHER repair guys had told us "nothing's wrong. " He immediately told me we had a capacitor that needed to be replaced. He took me step by step (taking pictures all the time) and showed me how to clean the compressor properly to get more life out of it. My 93 year old mother needed a new furnace, in December, in Michigan. They came out when scheduled, ran into a problem we resolved the next day. The technician came out again the day after and still didn't finish the installation. Then it took 2 weeks with this elderly woman having no heat at all to get the installation done. No sense of urgency knowing she was without heat. Two weeks! Would never recommend this company. Their lack of concern for this elderly woman was overwhelming. And even after all that, when they said it was working and mom finally had heat, she didn't. They installed the furnace with the wrong wires and had to send someone else to fix it. Had an emergency service call for no heat. Had no complaint with the service just thought costs were excessive. We were charged $ 295.00 for after hours emergency call, didn't have an issue with that. We were charged $ 200.00 dollars per hour, don't have a problem with the hourly rate, my issue is, it turned out to be a very simple diagnoses and repair, tech was in and out in 15 minutes we were still charged for the entire hour. My hot water heater ruptured. I called about 5 different places to get estimates for a new one. I decided to go with Great Dane mainly because of the personality and helpfulness of Nick, who I spoke with on the phone. He helped us out with getting the financing done and approved in minutes. He gave me a quote and, unlike some other reviews I've read, he did NOT push to sell me anything extra. I spoke with Nick at about 4pm on Wednesday and, the installation technicians (Wesley and Justin) were at my home by 2pm the following day. The techs were super sweet, informative and tidy. They laid out a rug covering the entire stairwell and the area leading from the stairs to the door. They cleaned everything behind themselves. They were friendly with me and my German Shepherd (who can be really annoying. Lol) I will definitely be using Great Dane for all of my Heating and Cooling needs in the future. A+++. Our furnace went out so I reached out to Great Dane and spoke with their after hours service. A technician Nicholas called me back in minutes to confirm he would be out. He arrived early and was very professional. He diagnosed the problem, explained what needed to be fixed and associated costs. He quickly and thoroughly completed the job too. AC broke down due to a simple $10 AC capacitor and got charged $310+ for a 30 min visit. Technician left the service line caps OPEN despite noticing potential issues with the valve and gasket (recorded). Tech was hasty to ;eave and even had to remind him to check the temperature difference as he couldn't get reading from the service lines. As a result refrigerant leaked completely and compressor failed. Sent a technician ("free of charge") to tell me that it is dead and that I need a NEW SYSTEM from GREAT DANE. Tech came up all reasons why the situation cannot be remedied by recharging the compressor (dust might have gone inside, moisture might cause failure, ....)...that I REALLY a NEW system...couldn't even make an eye contact while listing all these crazy reasons why it cannot be fixed. Both the Tech and Greg (Service manager) confirmed that they are the unlucky company to cause this situation and that leaving the cap on could have remedied the leak. What is next is worse; spoke to Greg and he said "partial" cost of the service charge can be discounted from the new system (if bought from them). He said he would call the sales guy coming to give an estimate to "update about our issue" - possibly bake in the quote price a courtesy discount for "unluckiness". When I asked about what would be company's remedy if no new system purchased from them, Greg added that unless I buy a new system from them, there is NOTHING G. Dane would do despite accepting their role in the issue as being "unlucky". Asked to see if this is how the owner (JOSH) would want him to treat the customers, he said "PRETTY MUCH YES". In short, if the tech noticed issues with the valve and gasket, then why didn't offer replacing the core or ensured that its capped is closed tight and sealed at the very least. If that was being "unfortunate", why the company/Greg is so indifferent about remedying the cost/inconvenience unless a new system is bought from them for thousands. Wish I had read their reviews very carefully before (not the generic positive ones but the detailed failure stories). They will sweet talk you and will try to upsell with whatever stories they can come up with. Save yourself time, money and headache and look for other reputable companies. read more

Great Dane installed our furnace and central air 6 years ago. The AC would not turn on this year. Made arrangements for a service call from 12-4PM. Showed up from 3-6:30PM (made me miss my daughter's dance recital - big problem). The technician determined that the low-pressure switch failed and there was a loss of refrigerant from some unknown location. After 6 years the AC system is broken and leaks. I was quoted $129 for a service call and ended up being charged $309 and no repairs were made. The technician left the scene with the AC unit in the same condition as he found it. Now I need to schedule another service call to repair the failed low pressure switch and recharge the system. Can't wait to see how much I'll get more money I'll be forced to spend. Major fail. Called for maintenance wanted to make sure my AC would not break down during hot weather. Julio arrived on time, very professional and polite. After checking my unit he found some wires needed to be replaced due to electrical fire danger. Issue was fixed immediately. Julio was finished by 10:00 am, wonderful service. Fantastic experience. Called at 2 pm to discuss a warranty issue for my carrier furnace. According to the manufacturer, my heat exchanger was warrantied, but the labor was not. Totally understandable for a 15 year old unit. Dispatcher on the phone was very professional and pleasant. They scheduled a same day appointment for between 3-6 pm. They arrived at 3:05!!! One hour after I called!! That is awesome. The technician, Joe, was thorough, extremely experienced, and a pleasure to have in the home.
