The Serviceman Nick is an Amazing employee also Robert and I believe there are more than one the older gentleman was good and the younger gentleman as well , I had the garage door replaced in 2025 with their top of the line door brand wrong door was sent , the issue with all the company's out there they are pushy & money hungry their sales people lie and they claim they know their product it's all bull shit trust no one is my motto and trust comes after rigorous and thorough verification long story short the door was reordered and installed all they care is give me a 5 star rating ok how about knowing your product and know how to set up the manufacturers product correctly and accurately it was never set up they either don't know what they sell which is a huge mistake all they care about is the bottom line that's just not right you took the customers money but even though the door closes and opens you are a disservice to your brand to your employees & to your customers no thank you take your five star rating and put on your wall it's worthless it's all smoke and mirrors you can finish a job but if you don't finish the details what have you accomplished in my humble opinion zero ! Around 6:50 AM today on an I-294 off-ramp, I had a very concerning encounter with one of this company's drivers. Traffic was moving quickly in the left lane, while I had been waiting patiently in the right-hand lane for over 25 minutes as part of the traffic line. The driver of a company work truck (photo attached, license plate blurred for privacy) suddenly stopped in the left lane to cut into my lane, forcing their way into the line of traffic. When he cut in there was maybe four feet in between me and the car that I had been following for the last 25 minutes. I honked to alert them to stop, but instead of acknowledging the situation responsibly, the driver pulled fully in front of me, forcing me to brake to avoid a collision. After that, they made threatening hand gestures. First a fist-to-palm motion, followed by mimicking a gun pointed at me. I don't know if this person actually had a weapon, but in that moment, I wasn't sure, and it left me feeling threatened and unsafe. This is completely unprofessional, dangerous, and unacceptable behavior, especially from someone operating a vehicle with your company name displayed. I will most likely be reporting this incident to the authorities. ( I will sleep on it.) I expect an apology and action to ensure this does not happen again. Your drivers represent your business. It was a fine experience but the springs were about $75 more than a local business, Ray changed the springs but then found that the door wasn't opening still so he told me it was the logic board and it would be $400 to repair it or $579 for a new system, I called a local repair company and it actually ended up being the motor which is covered by warranty and was only a house call charge, will write a positive review for the person (Matt's Garage Doors out of West Chicago) I ended up using and wouldn't personally recommend Sears after this experience. read more

This was my first time using Yelp "Request a Quote" option. Really cool as it gave the option to send your request to other local contractors to get multiple quotes on the job. Filled out my specs - aluminum double garage door had a spring snap. Went out to six contractors and got responses from all. Some gave flat rate quotes over the email, others asked for my phone number or for me to give them a call to discuss first. For the two springs to be replaced the prices ranged from $295 - $400. The lowest price used a 10,000 cycle spring. The mid and upper range used a 20,000 rated spring. One contractor didn't give a quote for the job and offered a $79 service call to check the issue :( Ended up going with Sears Garage Door. Their cost was $345 and included a 3 year labor/part warranty. There was an option for $395 for a lifetime part warranty. Very impressed with their process. Called, got all my questions answered by a dispatcher and an appointment set up next day. This morning got an email from Sears that showed a picture of the technician, Steve. I have never seen this before, but thought it was an awesome thing. Another reviewer mentioned safety. I did not have any safety worries, but I thought it was a good concept to do. Steve arrived in a marked van and replaced the springs. He also did tune-up things that were no cost (see picture for all tune-up services). Was very quick job, about 30 minutes. All in all, very impressed. I believe these springs have a very long life, but will update if any issues down the line. read more

I had a garage door installed by Sears contractor Frank and 1 month later it broke. They patched it up but it remains dented and they refused to replace it. When it first broke Sears sent the Frank (the same person) who installed it to see if he was responsible and he denied responsibility and left it on the ground. I called another company Beverly Garage doors and they put the door back up and advised me that it was installed incorrectly. Then Sears came out and put a bar behind my door so that I could open it. The only reason why my door is working is because Beverly Garage Doors put it back together. Once Beverly Garage Doors picked my door up off the ground then Sears sent Frank (3rd time) to make it run. After he learned from Beverly Garage Doors on what he should have done now I can use my new dented door. read more

Terrible company. Worst technician! Robert LaValley came out to fix our garage door which stops midway and goes back down (or up- depending). It also freezes when it's cold, Robert came out and replaced the rollers. I wasn't home the 1st time he came, but I knew it definitely wasn't the rollers causing the problem. They charged us 300.00 and as soon as it was cold, 2 days later it stopped working again. We called and they sent Robert back. I took a video of the door stopping midway and he wouldn't even look at it. I worked in retail and customer service for 35 years and have never been treated so rudely. This man should not be working with the public. He said to my husband, "My wife gets like this too" when I tried to explain that it was an electrical problem not a roller problem. This time Robert "cleared" the safety sensor beam. I told him that I knew that wasn't the problem. That was the 1st thing I had tried months back. Robert told me garage door electrical units don't stop because of the cold. So he left. Our garage door is still broken and we are out 300.00. We are in Chicago. Robert was rude, talked down to me, wouldn't listen and on top of that, the WORST technician. Sears you should do better!! And And train your techs how to fix things and how to treat customers. Very friendly customer service at the beginning and from the installer. And they were flexible enough to work with me after I purchased a new garage door opener on my own. Every other listing on Yelp refused to work for customers who buy their own garage door opener motors, even if they are a professional contractor like myself. Consumerism is changing and snobby dinosaurs need to adapt. However, their business system barraged me with emails, texts, and phone calls. For appointment confirmation I get at least all 3 coming in on my business mobile when all was needed was just one message. I complained to Michael that their automated system was too obtrusive and yet I still continued to be barraged by their texts, emails, and phone calls which violates two 2001 Federal Privacy laws since 1) they do not ask you for permission before sending all their notifications and 2) then continue to send you unwanted messages after you request to stop. After my second complaint, instead of apologizing Michael condescended and insulted me, assuming that I had blocked their main business phone number prior to their second visit when in fact I had not. Small businesses should follow laws governing mobile notifications, and then accept full responsibility when they violate then instead of throwing it back at you. Next time I'd prefer to use a company with a better professional demeanor, especially after they inconvenience clients. I felt like leaving two stars but this appears to be a young, albeit inexperienced, small business trying hard. Hopefully they will learn that when their business system continues to intrude upon customers, it reflects poorly upon that business. read more

Had a great experience with Michael and Alex replacing our 20+ year old opener. They were quick to respond; reasonable price (I requested 3 quotes from different vendors). They let me know the day before when they would arrive and I received a call from the technician when in route to my house. It did not take long to install. Alex took the time to discuss the installation and also talked about other options for the garage (i.e. a new door; no pressure selling though).
