    Turkey and cheese sub
    Hana M.

I stopped in on my lunch break and opted for this spot based on just the bread smells alone. My sub was great, and they had no trouble accommodating some modifications for me. The employee I spoke with was personable and made ordering a breeze. I'll definitely be back.

Kicks is a newer addition to the popular Monarch Market food hall in Uptown Charlotte. They are known for their sub sandwiches served on a crunchy Dutch bread that I have also heard called tiger bread! I'm sad to say I was feeling less adventurous that day so instead of the Dutch bread I opted for a regular white hoagie roll instead. They also offer all of their sandwiches in a wrap as well if that is more your speed. Their signature sandwiches all come with a number of their own unique ingredients but it's important to note that they have a standard blend of toppings that comes on each sandwich similar to jersey mikes and their "mikes way". I'm glad this was explained to me because I don't know how they would have possibly fit that many ingredients on my sandwich! I went with the Ellie Get In My Belly which came with some tangy honey mustard based barbecue sauce as well as their special Kicks white sauce. The sandwich was delicious although I think they may have gone a little too overboard with the sauce as the sandwich was very messy. That being said I can tolerate messy if the flavors are good and this was a very tasty sandwich and a great lunch. As with most places in the Monarch Market it is a little pricey, but that's the cost of having a small business operate Uptown. I would definitely recommend checking out Kicks next time you're looking for lunch options or find yourself perusing the Monarch Market.

This is my first time trying Kicks Deli because it was always closed whenever I'd visit Monarch, but they did not disappoint. I got the sunrise baby smoothie which had pineapple, mango, orange juice and banana and it wasn't too sweet and filling. We also tried the Dubai chocolate cookie and it was amazing. The texture was on point with the kanafi (sp?) and the cookie was soft yet chewy. I also tried my bonus daughter's crepe with Nutella whipped cream and strawberries. It was a lot but the flavor was so good. Everything paired together perfectly.

Excellent signature sandwich. Google has some suspect reviews but I had a great experience.

It's right on the way to my yoga studio, so it's perfect for a quick in-and-out lunch, but honestly, it's also the kind of place where you end up lingering longer than planned. My usual order is the ABLT on rye with Boar's Head applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple, fresh, and consistently delicious every single time. I almost always pair it with the Spinach Bacon salad loaded with spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, tomatoes, toasted pecans, and brown sugar peppered bacon. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. What makes Rhino special is that it's more than just a deli. It's part neighborhood market, part coffee shop, part beer and wine stop, and part community hangout. They've got local products, grab-and-go snacks, fresh sandwiches, beer on tap, wine, outdoor patio seating, and sometimes even live music. It reminds me of the small independent spots I used to love in the Bay Area around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Relaxed, local, welcoming, and full of personality. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere feels genuinely Charlotte. Not overly polished. Not trying too hard. Just good food, good people, and a place that locals clearly love. And if you are visiting North Carolina, you absolutely have to try Cheerwine at least once. It's basically a Carolina rite of passage. Cherry soda lovers will probably be obsessed. Me personally? Not exactly my flavor profile, but people here drink it like water, so clearly they are onto something. Rhino Market is one of those places that makes a city feel like home. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. Get out there.

Bread, meat and cheese were all excellent but all together it was just meh. I should have picked something else for sure. The broccoli rotini salad was uh-mazing! I'd come back just for that! I was happy to see that the sandwiches are reasonably priced for the area which tends to be super overpriced! But then I added a side and a drink and we were over $20 again. Ugh...expensive but right in line with the other places in the area. I will 100% be back!

Well, look no further as Rhino Market will give you plenty of options to start the day off right. We stopped here around lunchtime on a Saturday to grab some breakfast food. As it was already later in the day, I ended up opting for a lunch sandwich instead. The window to order is placed towards the rear of the store. The menu has plenty of breakfast and lunch options. After ordered, you go back to the front counter to pay. It's pretty tough not to grab a snack or two on your way to checkout. They also have some fresh brewed coffee which I tried, and it got me fired up for the morning. I ordered the Chicken Torta and it came out after about 5 minutes. The sandwich was presented perfectly, a beautiful picture of green balanced with some fresh deli meat. First bite, and I instantly fell in love with my lunch sandwich. You won't go wrong with a chicken torta, or any torta for that matter. There's plenty of seating in the deli, at the bar, outside in the common area, or outside in the yard. All spots you may choose to eat have wonderful vibes, especially in you sit inside the restaurant since they had a musician playing live music. All in all, I'm very glad I tried out this place as I can see it entering my rotation of quick eats around the city.

I love looking at the meat counter and all the prepared meals/food they have available. We started off with the burnt ends which were pretty good, only complaint was the brisket was a little dry, must not have used the fattier cut. But overall a good dish. I got the steak flight which was excellent and a great deal for what you get. It's three different cuts of meat prepared 3 different ways, for only 23 or 24 dollars. One cut was filet, one was teres major, but I cannot remember the other cut. All had excellent toppings and were cooked to a great medium rare. Wife got the burger which was on sale this day of the week for $7! It was excellent, you can't find a better burger in charlotte at that price. The atmosphere is always very personal and cozy, it is a bar with table seating but just be aware it's not your typical dining room.

Their meatballs are also to die for! Perfectly paired with a great marinara and polenta cakes. The staff is so friendly as well and will be honest about what cuts they like and which are popular.
