Great bread, and oh my, warmed up cinnamon buns, to die for. It's worth walking in the rain to get there. The room smells like a grandma's kitchen and they have space to sit down and have a moment with friends or family. Love it. Now I'm hungry. Time to go to GHB. read more

The food at the 4800 South Great Harvest Bread isn't bad, not really, but it's not good either. For all the old-fashioned folksiness of the atmosphere, Great Harvest tastes like nothing so much as commercial processed fare, like Twinkies with a good PR firm. The two employees I dealt with were pleasant enough, but neither seemed to know much about their own products -- and they didn't make any attempt to find out the answers to the simple questions I asked. Ultimately, the surroundings aren't enough to make up for mediocre food and bored, ill-informed service. I suggest you go down to one of the far better bakeries on 25th Street for authentic breads and engaged staff. read more

I had a very bad experience here and will not be returning! There's another place only 3 minutes away called Corner Bakery Cafe that looks like a Panera bread. It's very cute and has delicious foods and better reviews then this place. I would highly recommend going there instead. read more

Before you read the original paragraph written below, please note that there is a pleasant update to this story and thus I need to address that. What happened did happen, however, the owner of this establishment has graciously offered to refund the customer the towing fee and fired an over zealous towing company. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially when they make an effort to make amends. I thus change my rating to 4 stars and recommend giving these folks a try. Written before amends were made: Not a customer friendly establishment. While the bread might be great I will rate places based on my likeliness of going back and why. There are many things that go into this including the product, the service, the consistency, access, environment and much more. This is a place that displays hidden signs in the back that only customers of GH are allowed to park there or risk being toed at the owners expense. A person being toed, who has no intention of ever leaving their vehicle overnight and parks in front AFTER closing hours of this establishment having no awareness of it being an issue since the signs were not in sight being in the back getting car toed, being told only cash will be accepted to get it out of impound, and given a time limit to do it without regard to the situation warrants my choice to boycott this place and inform others that while the bread may be good, an owner of an establishment with no willingness or regard for basic decency should not be supported. I would rather support a business that is decent and considerate. After all, how the heck does it hurt their business or shopping customers if the store is closed and the car is long gone by the time the establishment is open? It's just a courtesy that you would hope would bring good will and a hope to bring that car back during business hours to buy bread. In this case.... Guess not. read more

As ever, a place that excels at baking bread tends to have solid sandwiches, but I always forget they tend to be skimpy on the meat. If you get a sandwich at these places, double the meat. Aside from that, if you believe a sandwich is made or broken by the bread, this is probably a good place for you. I personally believe it is a harmony of all components, so results were a bit mixed for me. I will say this chain is remarkably consistent. While they have never been stunning, the results have always been solid for me and this is nearly always a very good middle-of-the-road dependable choice. read more

Once again So. Ogden Great Harvest Bread Co. disappoints. I got there at 2pm today and they were almost sold out, at 2pm! It doesn't matter if you go there at 11am or after noon, there is ALWAYS a problem at this place. I would go to 25th street but it's such a hastle downtown and it's far from my house, especially w/a big truck that gets 9mpg. The management really needs to take a look at this problem. I ended up getting two neighbors cinnamon bread, at least they had that. Who runs out of Harvest Blend at 2pm? I don't even think she punched my card, even though she said she did. This store has major problems. IF you can get your bread it's pretty good, nothing like The Bun Basket, but it's all we have around here. Please someone, open a good bread shop in So. If you want to benefit the local towing establishment, go here! They seem to be in cahoots, which is an interesting way to enhance revenue, but maybe they could do even better by allowing good folks to park in their lot after business hours to generate good will. Unfortunately, I'll pick another franchise location because of their dubious policies regarding having signs in the back lot warning that your car may be towed if parked there after hours (which you'll only see if you venture into the back portion of their lot). Not nice, not cool. Zero stars for their revenue-enhancement techniques. read more

We stop in from time to time for a slice of warm bread as well as a loaf to take home. Every time we go in we are treated with enthusiasm and genuinely great customer service. The positive attitudes of everyone is absolutely contagious! If you need a great jump start, stop in early for a slice of warm bread and a fantastic cup of coffee. From multiple visits, I can say this place deserves 6 stars out of 5! read more

Before you read the review that follows, it should be noted that the owner of this business has graciously apologized and made amends. They fired the overzealous towing company and deserve a second chance. I have always loved Great Harvest. They make a great product and this location definitely deserves a second chance. Any business owner who takes full responsibility for his actions and works hard to satisfy customers earns my respect. Previous Review: A week and a half ago, I drove to Ogden, Utah to attend my good friend's birthday celebration. It was held at a lovely little dessert shop in South Ogden, Utah called Bize. When I arrived, their entire parking lot was full, so I drove next door to the empty Great Harvest Bread Co. parking lot and parked my car in front. I figured Great Harvest was closed, what could it hurt? After 45 mins., I came out to find my car missing. I called 911 and was informed my car had been towed. After some frustrating phone calls, I found the towing company and was told I had a 20-minute window of opportunity to claim my car that night or else wait until the next morning. "Oh, and by the way, it will cost you $275 to get your car out of impound." Their impound lot was three miles away. Frantically I got my friend's daughter to give me a ride to the impound lot, where the tow-truck driver was just dropping off my car. He pulled his truck up to block my car then informed me he could only take cash. He was nasty. Long story short, I got the cash and retrieved my car. By the way, there were NO signs on the front of the Great Harvest building where I parked. I did go back to look and their only signs were hidden in their back parking lot. And those signs stated, "Great Harvest Customer Parking Only, No Overnight Parking, Violators will be towed away at vehicle owners expense!" Ok, so I guess I was busted, I wasn't a Great Harvest customer. But to hide the signs around the back is just unscrupulous. And this form of entrapment causes me to wonder if Great Harvest isn't taking a commission from the towing company? This is just mean spirited, not in keeping with the ambience that's supposed to be associated with bread: sustenance; bread of life; warm and fuzzy, etc. This is just lousy public relations. I called the owner of South Ogden Great Harvest hoping to get a justification as to why she felt it necessary to have cars towed from her lot after hours. Her response was that she's had cars park there overnight. I said, "ok, so tow cars that park there overnight, but if one of your adjoining neighbors runs out of parking for an evening event, why wouldn't you take a neighborly stance and allow overflow into your unused lot? How could that possibly hurt you?" She didn't have a good explanation. Congratulations Great Harvest Bread Company. You've you've shown your true colors. I hope it was worth it to hoard your parking spaces after hours. May worms and mold infest your dough. Ogden and Utah friends. Please repost this warning. Great Harvest Bread of South Ogden is not worthy of your patronage. read more

On 11/25/16, my husband and I purchased at $25 gift card here as a gift for my mother in law. She went into the store to use the gift card today, and they told her it wasn't valid. So this location stole our $25 money and created an embarrassing situation for us AND for my mother in law! NOT COOL. Don't give these guys your business. We went to Great Harvest in South Ogden this morning for coffee and a sweet roll. As usual, there was no coffee made at 8:30 a.m. but when they went to make it they came back and told us they had no coffee beans. This has happened several times before, but they've never been been unable to make coffee completely, so I guess I'm a slow learner. I finally understand they really don't want coffee drinkers there for whatever reason. I won't be back. read more
