Still loving the Great Harvest breads. There is nothing else like them. Dense, intense yeasty smell and taste unlike anything else. Don't forget to take your bread card. I have actually now been able to redeem two of them. Latest Great Harvest fan is now Buddy the dog. I left the loaf within his reach for too long while unloading the car. He tore into the Dakota bag and had consumed parts of three slices before getting caught. Now, whenever he sees or smells that bread, he acts like it's salmon. Yes. It's that good. They have other items worth checking out in the store. Buddy recommends them as well. (He has tried a few soups.) read more

Great Harvest is one of my favorite sandwich spots for lunch. Options are simple but the bread is so fresh! I like getting my sandwich on the honey wheat bread. They made great baked goods, we used them for gift baskets and were beautiful and professionally done! We were very happy. My only suggestion is some of their breads seem slightly underbaked, not sure if you're supposed to heat them at home but we got a cinnamon bread and it was partly raw. read more

Wow! I can't believe I haven't been in sooner! Seriously! -The options of bread are to die for. -They gave us HUGE taste test pieces. They had a big glass covered area on counter where they take pieces of bread to taste. -Extremely friendly staff! -They have other options available besides loafs of bread. -They offer customized sandwiches. -Great prices -Fill up a card of 10-12 purchases & get a loaf or sandwich free. As we were tasting, mingling with another customer, & enjoying our experience, one of the ladies screams half off on bread. Only reason why I didn't take advantage is because hello calories ;) Bread is extremely soft and delicious. The lady suggested french toast with the apple crisp. I also made a grilled cheese sandwich out the 3 cheese bread, it cooked amazing with ghee butter. Had a perfect crunch while still being soft on the inside. read more

I live in New York City and I just love coming here when I come to Rockford for work. The bread is delicious and fresh and when you walk in - there is a plethora of varieties to try - and the staff is very generous with the samples! They also make sandwiches for lunch and you can customize you sandwich based on different meats and cheeses to really play off the bread of your choice. For example, the garlic cheese bread goes great with shaved ham as the cheese is swirled through the bread making a more flavorful sandwich than ham and cheese on white bread. The pumpkin bread is sweet and delicious for breakfast. The cookies are really amazing here too! read more

The bread is delicious but when you go there in the morning you expect that they will have bread. My mom went there this morning and they only had one kind ready. All they sell is bread.... it's a bread place, why aren't they prepared and have at least a few of each breads in the morning. Unfortunately this lost them a customer. read more

Don't go later in the day!! As someone from Des Moines, I was hoping to find a bakery here in Rockford. I went to Harvest Bakery after coworkers had raved about it. I walked in about 2 hours prior to their closing time on a Friday, hoping to get a loaf of bread for the weekend. After looking at their daily menu, I inquired about a particular loaf and was met with "we're out." I asked about another flavor and, again, "we're out." After 2 more times of this I asked what they DID HAVE. Given those options, I asked to sample a piece of a particular loaf, as the worker said they give free samples to try. I was met with "we don't have any samples of that particular kind." This happened one more time before I told them to forget about it! To top things off, my 4 year old daughter was doing the potty dance, I asked if they had a restroom we could quickly use and they directed me to the Subway next door. Will never go back! read more

This a cute little bread shop that has tons and tons and tons of variety! It looks like a mom and pop shop that enjoys making relationships with the customers. They have breads like Irish soda bread, brownie bread, cinnamon bread, and even pumpkin bread!!!! There are tons of samples so you know what you are buying from the get go! Hello, heavenly bakery! I would go here just to soak in the smells. I was hunting for a bakery and a caterer recommended this. Their bread is not cheap ($5-7/loaf), but you are paying for the quality of their finest ingredients. You can taste that they use whole grains, good butter, and the best cinnamon. We love the cinnamon swirl. They feature different breads throughout the week. Their Dakota bread makes your sandwich. Shoot! Forget the sandwich ingredients and just eat bread. We LOVE this place!
