Tuesday 3/11/25 Everything stays the same compared to my previous review (monkey bread is still good) but I wanted to increase my rating to a 5/5 due to the spectacular service I experienced from the store manager Seth. We were trying to access my app rewards for great harvest bread so I could get my free goodie for my birthday but for some reason it wasn't fully set up with the Rockville location yet. He did his best in terms of trying to get it set up but the bosses were still working on the issue. To make sure my drive wasn't wasted, he kindly gave me a free monkey bread for my birthday. One thing to note was that while I was talking with him, another customer came by to give him thanks and praise which really goes to show how great he is at his job.

Huge Cream Cheese Frosted Cinnamon Rolls! Recently visited-seeking Cinnamon Roll. Wow-their newest Cinnamon Roll creation is Huge, Slathered w/a creamy Cream Cheese Frosting. Definitely shareable. Absolutely Delicious. They still offer a variety fresh baked breads & quick breads including pumpkin spice & blueberry & chocolate biscotti on day I visited. Also got a loaf of Country White Bread. Also good & great toasted. Friendly Courteous Customer Service. See Photos!

Trail bar leads to marathon finish

This was my go to protein on long runs. Got me thru Marine Corps Marathon. Loved picking up bread snacks & the all important trail bar at the Montgomery Village farmers market. Everything was always fresh and delicious.

Went here to grab a round challah for the Jewish new year. They had a few options so I decided to get something a little unique. I got the cinnamon chip challah and I was not disappointed. The cinnamon chips were so perfect and the consistency of the bread itself was light and airy. The bread was dairy free so I was able to have it. It was almost cake-like. It's definitely a little more pricey (about 10/11 dollars) so I wouldn't get it too often but it's a great option if you want to treat yourself.

    Pumpkin Yumpkin - try it!

I've been a fan of Great Harvest (and this Rockville location specifically) for a year now, and would recommend checking it out if you're willing to splurge for some good bread. My favorite is one of their fall specialties, the Pumpkin Yumpkin - a fluffy-textured bread with pumpkin with chocolate chips. I'm not super into pumpkin but this one is soo good. The cinnamon breads (Cinnamon Blast, specifically) and scones are also great. I actually live much closer to the Columbia location, but this one definitely has a lot more options and specialty breads. My only problem is with the prices- I was a little hesitant to pay $10 for the pumpkin bread last year, and when I went back yesterday, the price raised to $12.95. Personally, I just can't justify paying $13 for a medium-sized loaf despite how much I love it - so it looks like this will be a once-in-a-while splurge for me.

    Babka bread!!

Scrumptious fresh bread! The Great Harvest locations in MD and VA have their own special menu and unique selection of loaves. Glad I made the trek from McLean to Rockville to try Rockville's specialty loaves - Chocolate Babka, Cinnamon Blast, and Pumpkin Yumkin. Totally worth it! Cinnamon Blast (5/5) - Brioche bread with a brown sugar cinnamon swirl. While the bread was a bit dense, with a touch of melted butter, it was heavenly. The loaf is quite large and almost a foot. It didn't last too long in our house before my hubby and I devoured it! Pumpkin Yumpkin (4/5) - While the loaf is oozing with chocolate chips in every bite, it overpowers the subtle pumpkin flavor. I LOVE chocolate chips, but the dense loaf didn't pair well with pumpkin and didn't have the sweet savory flavor I was hoping for. Banana pairs the best with chocolate chips. A simple Pumpkin spice loaf would be nice (which I believe the bakery offers). Alas, I finished the loaf and delightfully crossed it off my foodie bucket list, fun to try! Chocolate Babka (3/5) - Hubby's favorite! Similar to the Cinnamon Blast, dense brioche bread with swirls of rich chocolate layers. The ratio between bread and chocolate was a bit low, wish there was more chocolate! The bread keeps well for around 5 days with twist tie diligence! I enjoyed our bread feast with decadent loaves. The Rockville bakery is quite crowded with heavy foot traffic, everyone was Covid compliant - wearing a mask and stood 6 feet apart. The cozy Vienna location has a lot less foot traffic with divine Focaccia that's super fluffy, try it! Definitely worth a trip from Rockville. Love trying different loaves of bread in MD and VA, looking forward to some new variety!

Best brownie bread. Best bread I've ever eaten. I bought one on Saturday and had to go back Sunday for another since it's Thursday-Sunday only.

Although nothing for the Vegan Crew (a few Gluten Free/Vegetarian options) I'm giving 4 stars for the uber friendly employee who looked everywhere to see if I could delight in anything. Not to fret, my friend picked up bags of cookies & a loaf for his Sister. A homegrown, organic & all that good stuff bakery, that also serves as a Cafe in some locations. The menu lists freshly milled whole grain & the company's initiative on baking with pure & simple ingredients. Just the aroma alone will get you hooked. GHB is not offering just breads alone, the selections varies from Muffins, Scones, Biscuits, Tea Cakes, Artisan specialty Breads & Salads. Their highlighted offering is the Honey Whole Wheat & national breads such as the Dakota with other seasonal items - Green Chili Cheese Bread. From the original Founders to now employee owned with Franchising opportunities, the Great Harvest's mission is more than baked goodies, as they are happily giving back while being loose & having fun. Hand clap for their culture & community participation. The friendly employee did mention to check back as new creations are always being 'baked up'...get it?

There's seating inside, but the seating area is pretty small and some people were at tables looking like they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. It was a nice morning, so we were able to grab an outside picnic table. The service was decent. One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.

Last Sunday, I wanted to happily buy a cake for Mother's Day but after I already paid as price tag was shown. The owner suddenly came over and said there was an extra charge because it was a "Mother's Day Special" . Apparently "Special" means rising the price by surprising their customers. Honestly, if there's a holiday surcharge, I would truly understand! But it should be clearly stated before payment -- not after. Very disappointing experience. I only bought it because my mom loves mango cake, but I definitely won't be coming back again I am pretty certain that you're not allowed to raise the price on an item already paid for. It's not the money. It's the principle. This is unethical.

We came around 9am and they had a decent selection of buns. We got a mix of baked pork buns, pineapple buns, custard buns, and the lotus wrapped sticky rice. Items were individually wrapped. Egg tarts weren't ready yet. I was pleasantly surprised to find the white sugar rice cake. At approximately $3-$6 per item (give or take), it came to ~$50. The pork bun was dry and skimpy on filling. Since we came right at opening, I'm not sure if it was yesterday's pastries since some shelves were still empty. The white sugar rice cake was good, but not the best I've had. I don't come across this dessert as often as I like, so finding it at Asian Bakery Cafe was a treat. They also have moon cakes, roll cakes, and a small freezer for take-home dim sum. The Asian sponge fruit cake, which was our primary reason for stopping by, was adequate. Again, it wasn't the worst I've had, but it also wasn't the best I've had. The sponge cake was light and not too sweet (an Asian dessert standard), but it wasn't life-changing or anything to write home about. The cake had nice presentation from the packaging of the box (tied with a ribbon bow) to the icing and fruit on top. Fruit toppings included cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, kiwi, and peach. Fruit distribution in the filling was uneven and sparse. The cake met our needs but I wouldn't necessarily choose this bakery over another. I do want to highlight their service. When we picked up the cake, the worker kindly carried the cake for us and put it in our car. Five stars for service!

Here is how everything was: The Chocolate mousse shooters with whipped cream (2 oz) was definitely decadent, but grainy tasting as well. I liked the Salted Caramel Cheesecake Shooters (2 oz) a bit more because of the different flavors (the cheesecake layer being my favorite). The Chocolate Covered Strawberries were nice, but the strawberries were tart (which is definitely tough to gauge). The new owner was a good dude. He provided great service, was very friendly & personable, and has lots of goals & innovations that he wants to accomplish for the business. I had a couple of items I wanted to try, but some of them weren't available. On my first trip, I got the carrot cupcake $3.95 and the Oreo cupcake $3.95. On my second trip, I came back to get my birthday gift they gave me which was $10 store credit, and got both of the cupcakes and a cinnamon crunch scone. Also, the near $4 price tag for the size of these cupcakes isn't something I'm too fond of, but oh well. - The carrot cake cupcake was good: the icing and cake complemented each other very well. - The Oreo cupcake was alright, but I wasn't impressed with it. - The cinnamon crunch scone was an easy miss for me, didn't do anything for my taste buds. Overall, it's a decent spot with a relatively limited amount of pastries but I fully expect in the coming months for the business to take a huge shift and really blossom.
