Such a charming café with excellent baked goods! This place offers a wide variety of pastries, sweet treats, and savory breads. The service was also efficient and friendly. There were so many tempting options to choose from, but we decided on the focaccia and the pistachio cream puff. The focaccia was fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, not greasy or overly seasoned. The pistachio cream puff was a pleasant surprise. The filling had a rich, authentic nutty flavor and a natural brown-green color, rather than the artificial taste and bright coloring often found in pistachio desserts. The choux pastry itself was light, airy, and moist, which I really enjoyed. The coffee was also quite good and paired nicely with the pastries. I visited on a weekday afternoon and had no trouble finding street parking or a table to enjoy my food. I'll definitely be back to try more items from their bakery case! read more

Really cute little coffee shop. My sister loves it here and wanted us to go for her birthday. Loved the cafe vibe and clean atmosphere. I might describe this place as a more practical cafe... not much ambiance but has small tables and one sofa area. We ordered flat white with oat milk. They are 10 oz and served in paper cups. So no "here" coffee mugs. Yet we came here to sit for a bit. So more of a take away feel. The coffee was not my favorite but it could be my tastebuds ... it just had a slight edge to it at the end of each sip. I think it is an after taste that I don't like... Service was quick! Seriously the best madeleine of my life -- the citrus and cardamom notes in madeleine were both perfect and overall not too sweet, which is highest praise I can give for a treat :) The espresso is excellent too -- strong but not bitter. I would highly recommend you stop by the cafe! In no particular order: the owner and staff are very friendly and nice, the drinks are delicious, and the pastries are homemade and scrumptious. I got the strawberry matcha, and usually I get disappointed at cafes. However, at Mirabeau, their drink exceeded my expectations. The strawberry puree was the perfect consistency, tartness, and sweetness. The matcha itself was a nice green color, slightly earthy and bitter, like how it should be! Together, the drink was refreshing and slightly sweet. I also got the tiramisu and black tea Madeleine. The tiramisu was soft with a coffee packed flavor! Not too/overwhelmingly sweet. What a cute little cafe! Located by a metro stop & apartment complex, this cafe offers caffeine, sandwiches, sweet treat & tons of pastries! There's limited seating inside and parking is paid and on the street (a dollar for 30mins). My favorite thing to get here is the ham and cheese croissant and the chocolate croissant. Mirabeau is an absolute gem of a bakery just a few long blocks from Rockville Pike/MD-355). For me and my dining companion, we have been finding ourselves more frequently at boutique bakeries as we have become exponentially expanding our own culinary abilities. And since we do not cook with yeast, wheat flour, or high temperature oils, bakeries, pasta and pizza specialists, and anywhere with terrific deep-fried items have gained a major advantage among where we dine out. As with the classical Asian or European food mindset, we are happy to find places that excel at even one item rather than being content with jacks-of-trades-but-masters-of-none. In the case of Mirabeau, their Kouign Amann represented that truly standout item because the balance of flavors, butter and yeast aromas, textures (crisp/flaky body to the caramelized top layer), and overall enjoyment were exemplary of the dish. With my DC finally relenting, we ordered the Crème Brûlée Donut and found a second major draw to Mirabeau! The donut itself is wonderfully springy, intensely aromatic with yeast, and optimal in its moisture level (neither too soggy with oil, nor too dry), complemented by a delicate filling with flavor dominated by custardy yolk (our favorite over overt vanilla) and a consistency that is ideal for a donut filling (neither too thick nor too runny). Plus, there is just enough salt in the batter to provide a contrast to the sugar, oil, yeast, and batter. With these 2 headliners, Mirabeau joins our short list of favorite boutique bakeries in the area: Fresh Baguette, Boulangerie Christophe, Levain Bakery, and Rose Ave Bakery. All are a bit pricier than the typical bakery, but they all more than make up for it with their quality and genre-defining items. While the Kouign Amann is an item we have enjoyed at a few of the aforementioned, Mirabeau's version is clearly the best. And now, that is joined by a top-notch Donut! read more

12.13.24 I looked at previous reviews and photos and had this bakery on my list to try for some time. I specifically wanted to try their almond croissant. Unfortunately, coming at 3 PM one hour before they close was a mistake. I was disappointed that their inventory was very limited. I only had a few desserts to choose from. I decided to go with the tiramisu. It was very good. They have limited indoor and patio seating. They also have street parking and a parking garage across the street. If you park in the garage, there is a phone number to dial to have the gate open. The first two hours are free. I enjoyed my tiramisu, however, I wouldn't return given that it's not too accessible to where I work. I would be more inclined to return if they had an extensive menu and greater quantities in stock so that I could try a variety of desserts. read more

I can't believe I hadn't heard of this café before!! it's truly a hidden gem. I was told the peanut butter latte here was delicious, and since I've been on the hunt for a good one in the DMV area, I had to check it out. The café was peaceful and quiet on a Saturday morning, with the comforting smell of freshly baked goods filling the air. I loved the seating options, especially the cozy window spots and outdoor tables. We ordered the peanut butter latte, a ham and cheese scone, and a fig cake. They offer to warm up the pastries. The hardest part of this place is the parking. Once you are okay with calling to get into the garage (which is 2 hours free), it isn't bad. Coming in, you have either outdoor or inside seating. A large area for walking and wandering and standing in line. It's a nice vibrant place and relaxing with trees blocking the harsh sun coming in. It's a good spot to meet up for some quiet time to chat with a friend. The coffee and tea isn't bad. I think this is a spot you would choose to get away from the overly busy spots. I enjoyed every aspect of this little Parisian inspired bakery this am. From the cheerful and bright exterior yellow paint, to the quiet hum inside the store full of whimsical colors and piano sonatas playing over the speakers. The menu was really impressive too. The second the lady behind the counter told me the Bretonne Galette was like a shortbread cookie, I was sold. Notable mentions include an earl grey and strawberry lite layered cake, pistachio creme puff, and many of their savory croissants and sandwiches. The drinks were also tough to decide on. I wanted something unique and boy did I find it! The Kumquat iced Earl grey tea was so deliciously tart and spiced. I could see the real pulp at the bottom of the cup, no fake flavors! For peanut butter lovers the PB latte sounded interesting too. This spot doesn't seem overly SUGARY but sweetened just right and with good quality ingredients. I also grabbed a Martinelllis glass apple juice. I'm a sucker for a good apple juice in the am. I liked the refrigerated options and seemingly curated and carefully selected items. Wonderful cafe in Rockville. I love stopping by here in the mornings. I love the relaxed vibe of the place and how it's well lit. The workers there are always so polite and very quick to serve. Decided to try Mirabeau for brunch because of its stellar reviews. It was a bit smaller than expected with limited seating, but very quaint and aesthetic. The pastry and drink prices are definitely on the higher side. The bacon and chive scone intrigued me, but it turned out to have no chives and just bacon and cheese. It was okay - a bit dry. My friend enjoyed the chocolate croissant and tuna sandwich - the sandwich especially was more reasonably priced and really yummy. I would recommend this. Service was okay - nothing notable. I hesitate to spread the word about this wonderful location as I like it more when it's not crowded. It is truly the neighborhood coffee shop that so many operations try to be but fail. The staff is friendly and welcoming and they are always smiling. The espresso is excellent and the food is worth returning for. Every single time - the baked goods just taste indescribably amazing. Today I got a crime brûlée donut, an egg custard, and this pistachio crème filled thing (on the house). So good it almost brings me to tears every time. Service is always friendly, warm, inviting - equal to the love in the bakery treats.
