One minute you're young, single, enjoying life…read more The very next... you're old. With twins (?!) and each year you're trying to find something new and unique for them to experience for their birthday(s). This year I surprised them with... rootin' tootin' (trap/skeet) shootin'. (About a mile before reaching our destination I slipped up and ruined the surprise - which they won't let me live down now!) After driving through scenic and beautiful parts of Jersey (autumn, the colors all around were absolutely stunning) we arrived. It's a mountain. And when you hear those guns going off - it's jarring (for city folk, like ourselves). Yeah - "Thunder Mountain" - is more than a fitting name for this biz. Seven of us (only six are shooting), three generations, and with our most incredible guide/instructor - we were blasting away in no time. We had a clay-zy good time. (Hey, that's the best "dad pun" I could whip up, gimme a break!) Youngest twin was the marksman of the day - 19 of 25. My father-in-law was the least successful - 2 of 25. (The Mrs. and the older twin all did much better than me as well... which definitely dinged my ego, for sure.) It's cash-only. The couple behind the counter at the 'lodge' were very friendly, engaging and no-nonsense. Our guide/instructor really helped to make our afternoon even better/smoother. He was constantly giving us pointers and encouragement and he deserves a raise for putting up with my father-in-law's insistence on refusing to ever yell "pull" (I'm still not sure if it was an honest mistake or him just looking to bust chops) but pretty much any other word that started with a "P". You're given a gun, earplugs and ammo (25 shots in total), rotating after 5 shots/attempts. This was a perfect amount to keep it fresh and interesting and fun. Teens are never impressed, especially if it involves their parents. But the entire ride to Kinchley's (you'll work up an appetite, lemme tell ya) and then home... they could NOT stop talking about how much fun they'd just had and can't wait to come back. (That definitely helped that fragile ego of mine!) PS: the following day I was sore and a bit bruised on my shoulder where the butt of the shotgun rested.

I have to say that I'm pretty critical of boat brokers, I've been boating my whole life, have a good handle on what I'm looking at, what my needs are and all of that. With that said, I have little patience with brokers that do not know what they are talking about; many don't of course. However, meeting Mike I have to say that he was great to deal with. Mike was fair, honest, motivated and responsive. If I reached out he was quick to respond. Mike was a straight shooter and didn't BS me. I'm old and have been around for a long time and can typically pick up on the BS fairly quick. Mike was easy to deal with and his office staff (Nicolette) was just as great to deal with as well. I have no complaints with these guys, they were a big help and I appreciate it. Here is one example of Mike's dedication, on a Sunday, not too long ago, Mike flew in from vacation, got in his car and drove straight from the airport to meet up with me so that I could see the boat for the first time that I eventually bought. My husband Mark and I started the journey of boat shopping back in August. After another broker…read morewasting so much of our time with "issues", (in hindsight it was a good thing because it wasn't supposed to be our boat) We contacted Tim on FB Messenger. He immediately responded and we made verbal contact. Went and saw the boat and in less then 2 weeks did the Sea Trial, paperwork, picked up OUR Crown Line yesterday, and now it's home in our driveway. Tim was ABSOLUTELY the BEST Boat Broker to work with EVER! Everyone at the Marina, and I mean EVERYONE we spoke to all say "He's such a nice/good guy" and he really is. He went far above and beyond to make this workout for us in a timely manner. Then helped us modify our new trailer to get her home! Mark and I are so thankful, grateful and appreciative of all Tim did for us. We are so looking forward to Spring of 2022 for us to begin the next chapter of our lives together as Boaters. 10/10/25: Cruising on Friday afternoon. The cruise was 1…read more1/2 hours from Riverfront Park in Peekskill, NY. $35.00 per person. The cruise had numerous beverages, including hot apple cider alone or with bourbon. We had hot apple cider w/o.... It was hot and delicious! One issue we had was hearing the narration. The acoustics appeared to sound fuzzy. Possibly because we were sitting at the stern of the boat. During the cruise, we viewed several sites: Indian Point, Bear Mountain Bridge and trains against the background of the beginning of the fall foliage. FYI- The dock is right before you get to the yacht club. If you reached the yacht club, you've gone too far. Parking is in the area of Riverfront Park. Before the cruise, it's best to use the restroom facilities in the park, instead of the Porta John at the dock. Don't know about the bathroom on the boat. The boat is somewhat small. 3.5 Stars.
