In addition to the myriad of boats docked in the water, there are a ton of them parked and stored in the parking lot as well. If you are a boat buff or even a photography aficionado, you can spend hours there appreciating all of the different angles, shadows, shapes. As I walked down to the end of the dock, I received a number of hellos and friendly waves from folks boarding and deboarding their boats. For the last month I've been ignoring an itch to buy and restore an old watercraft and after this tour, it just got even more intense. I look forward to one day pulling up and paying to use their fuel station, which, according to a fellow Yelper, is pretty reasonably priced.

The fuel is reasonably priced and the sewage pump out - well you have to do that yourself, and if you are like my buddy who doesn't follow directions, the resulting Trevi Fountain of feces (and maybe hepatitis) is worthy of "World's funniest videos" if done incorrectly. It will take a bit of time to get into this fuel dock as it is located at the head of the harbor and there are some 250,000,000 boats moored in there - so make sure your captain knows how to drive his boat.... argghhhh Over and out

I have had nothing but great experiences with Palmer Point. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. The service yard is filled with experienced workers and they can handle any need a boater may have. The gas dock is cheap and they honor a $0.10 per gallon discount for BoatUS members. They also have an abundance of different sized boat slips with full amenities (power, water, etc.). I also love that it's family owned! I have nothing bad to say about Palmer Point and would highly recommend them to any of my fellow boaters.

When visiting & boating on Lake Hopatcong based on those memories I always suggest visiting Barnes Brothers for gas. The gas here for boats on the lake is reasonable priced and of course like any other spot in New Jersey it is illegal to pump your own gas, not sure why this is still a law but it is. If your boat needs works Barnes Brother has got you covered. When winter comes along everyone is required to pull their boats from the water and for good reason because they will be destroyed. If you happen to own a boat and looking for a group of dedicated individuals to winterize your boat and store it safely until the ice melts and the grass starts turning green look no further than Barnes Brothers. If you are looking for a tow rope to tow wake boarders, knee boarders, water skiers, tubers, simply looking for marine line or life vest / preservers once again Barnes Brothers has got you covered. As they say in the boating word boat stands for (Bust Out Another Thousand). I say that in fun because my father has owned boats from my earliest memories and always taught me the importance of water safety & respect for all waterways. It is always nice to visit places you visited as a child. Just seeing the sign that reads Barnes Brothers truly brings me back in time. I was out on my boat on the Hudson River early on a Sunday evening and needed gas. Every fuel dock…read morethat I stopped at was closed for the day and I was starting to run low. Instead of burning gas going to each marina, I began calling ahead. Rogers Point was getting ready to close, but the person who answered the phone (it's a yacht club run by it's own members) said he will stay open and wait for me. I filled up and we were able to enjoy the rest of the night on the boat thanks to Rogers Point. The member who helped me also said to call the marina by radio any time when they're closed and any of the members will be glad to come out and open up the fuel pump. Great place just north of the Walkway on the Hudson for any boaters who are ever in need of gas - and reasonable gas prices.

Very clean and large bathroom facilities for showers etc. Docks are locked by a keycard and feel very safe. Totaly worth membership here. The gas dock was out for part of last year and hated to have to travel to Westerly or Palisades. Went up to pacco instead. Glad they are back in order now. Nearby clubs - East side of river. He assured me that he could evaluate and repair it within that period. When I called him back within a couple of days he was quite nasty and said that if I was impatient I could come and get the engine. I decided to wait. After eight days I returned to the yard and found the engine in the same place that I left it. It had not been touched. When I spoke to Pat again he said that he told me that he could not look at it for at least two weeks, a flat out lie. I am not unhappy to have returned and I did take the engine back. I feel that if he so blatantly lied to me about the repair he was not trustworthy and a person I was best not dealing with.

Well it is the law passed by Cuomo whereby business can add the Credit card fee onto the customers charge card. I have experienced this in very few places and those that I frequent I mention I don't like it, don't punish me in your fight with credit card companies. I will not be using Manhasset Bay for gas in the future and I don't want to remember to have tons of cash in my pocket so I can avoid these charges. When I get small charge's in various business's I use cash but large purchases it is a pain, you have zero record and protection. The business's who add the charge are not doing anything wrong, it is a business decision and fair, but we don't have to accept it and can turn the dial. Nothing against Manhasset Bay they are doing what they feel necessary to stay in business and turn a profit.

While there are often transient slips available they must be arranged with a member first then the Fleet Captain. There is a free pump out slip but limited to 15 minute tie ups. What this club does offer is local families waterfront access. The club has protected dockage for boats (seasonal slips with a waiting list - transient dockage available ad-hoc) a terrific covered deck overlooking the harbor, a boutique banquet room, outdoor BBQ grill section, and small/non-motorized watersports storage. For local boaters this is a dream facility - however other local families love to join the club to partake in the frequent parties for both adults and children. These parties are all organized, hosted, and run by a volunteer committee of club members. Beyond the facility and the events, the club has been a corner stone of the community for over 30 years and will continue with its mission for generations to come.
