Took my boat into the shop for the following reasons: 1. Look at trailer guide boards and secure wood to frame better - Said they would do it, but was not done. 2. Look at trailer lights and fix issue with lights flickering - was told it works fine, and it still doing the same thing. 3. Fix broken reflector on trailer - glued cheapest looking reflector you could imagine and it's even crooked. But no big deal. I'll fix it. 4. Make sure all boat speakers were working properly and fix if needed - was told they'd do it, never happened. They said when I came to pick up the boat that they don't do that. So still have the same problem. 5. Check pontoons for leaks - they said they checked for leaks. They said there was an obvious leak in the middle pontoon (it's a tritoon) due to water being inside. It rained and water went through the upper hatch in the floor of the boat. They said the bilge pump inside the pontoon wasn't working. I ask them to fix it and they said I need to get the leak fixed and the water drained before they would do it. Come to find out from a different shop there was no leak, they just didn't want to siphon the water out and replace the bilge pump. 6. Fix bilge pump (see #5) 7. Perform engine maintenance to ensure everything is working properly - Changed gear oil and said that it needs a fuel additive to clean some carbon in the motor. They said it comes in a case of either 6 or 8 bottles. I was charged for the whole case and they only used 1 bottle and then told me they placed the other bottles in the boat. Got home. Nothing. It's ok if they don't do certain things but done say you do if you don't. Maybe they should say they will only work on engines. Anyways here is the real reason for the 1 star review. I wish I could give 0 stars. When I parked my boat and trailer at the shop, there was absolutely no damage to the trailer, with the exception of 1 reflector as mentioned earlier. When I picked up my boat and took it home, I realized it had been in some sort of collision. The right rear corner was bent in, scratched up and the tail lights are broken. (See pictures) I called the shop to inform them of the issue and was told they'd didn't do the damage and they have video from when I dropped it off, showing the damage was already there, to prove it. I said great please send the video and this would not be an issue. They called back 30 minutes later saying they will not send the video to me (because it doesn't exist) and they said they are denying responsibility. The owner seems to not be very interested in their customers. I've asked repeatedly to speak to the owner, and he was on vacation (understandable, that happens) they told me he would be back in a little over a week. I waited til the owner was supposedly back. And I emailed, no response. I called and was told he'd call me back. Then the same employee calls and says he's in a meeting. And that he'd call me back still. Still have not received a call. Then I get an emailed video of them backing my trailer around the shop and there was damage. But it doesn't show any of the other 5 or 6 times it was moved. They selected a later video that shows damage and are trying to say that it was a video from the morning I dropped it off. Also when asked them about the tail lights flickering issue. They said they inspected all of the lights and they were all working properly. That's when I added for them to service the motor. And NOW there is damage to the trailer, and they didn't do it. This was the first and last time I will use this boat shop. Unfortunately good boat shops are hard to find and this one is no exception. They will take advantage of you any chance they get and will damage your stuff and lie about it. I was charged about $1000 for them to change gear oil, replace propellor, and add 1 bottle of fuel additive. Now I get to find a place to fix the boat trailer and then go through the process of suing them. I have a feeling the lawsuit might be more expensive to fight, than if they would've just done the right thing. read more

On November 10, 2025 I took my boat in to have the Johnson 90 hp V4 outboard engine tuned up and some leaky seals replaced. When I called they said they had a Johnson Tech that could work on my boat. When I walked into the shop I observed a great big sign saying they were "Colorado's Only AAA service dealer to work on Johnson and Evinrude Products". I was impressed. When i dropped it off the desk guy said their Johnson Tech would take a look and get back to me within a week. Six weeks went by with no response from them. I called and asked about the status of my boat. I was again told the tech would take a look and get back to me soon. Another 6 weeks passed with no response. I called a second time and got the same lame response. On March 12, 2026, 4 months and 2 days since i dropped it off, I decided had enough with them. I drove down there and told them I was picking up my boat. When I explained why, the desk guy said their Johnson Tech only worked 4 days a week about 4 hours a day. He also stated that nobody else works on Johnson, nobody likes to work on Johnson. He didn't apologize or offer a consession. I suggest they take their sign down about being Colorado's Only AAA Certfied Johnson Service Dealer, and quit lying to your customers. Totally disappointed in their business. read more

Not sure what has changed over the last year or so, but this use to be the friendliest most knowledgeable service around. Took my boat in last spring for a spring tune-up, and they called saying it wouldn't start.and I had to tell them to make sure the safety chord was attached. Then I got over there, and they said the kicker motor wouldn't start, and I had to show them the gas tank switch. Never would have happened a while back . Went in for service this year, and prices have gone out of sight . One employee told me he was too busy to be bothered. Wow big change in attitude here. read more

They did not try to sell me something I didnt need and could have made a lot more money off of me but they were honest people and just wanted to get me back on the waters. What a Joke! Took my boat up to get carbs done. Made appointment took it up from Colorado Springs. $220 labor and $300 for carb kits. Had to go back 2 other times. Bob never rebuilt the carbs and just ran his mouth. Ol Bob did what he wanted to do nothing more. They pot ran it and de carbed it thats all, charged me $450..lol After fighting with these losers for weeks and spewing gas all over the lake on 2 trips (which it never did before) after they said they fixed it. They ruined our whole summer of fishing with my son. I spoke with owner who wasnt to smooth either and got my $ back. I took it to a friend in Nebraska who tore it down and did the work correctly. Ol Bob never tore down any Carbs at all. They had tac glue in them from someone using the original gaskets that were all swollen out of grooves. The choke system next to bottom carb has 2 o-ring gaskets that were spewing fuel and the diaphragm was shot. The Choke system took 40 min to pull and rebuild and install again. These guys are pathetic, never take your boat to them!!!! read more

I called about an apparent cooling problem with my 2012 Mercury outboard and George told me they had the parts I needed in stock. I made the ~15 mile trip and then George engaged Josh the technician to look at my old parts. Josh reccomended the the $175 impeller kit (as opposed to the $35 impeller). I'd be lyin' if I said I wasn't a little suscpicous, but I took his reccomomendation. When I returned home to complete the repair I had some questions that the Mercury literature did not answer (it needs improvement). I called GLM back and George told me Josh was busy but would call me right back. Josh actually did call me back within minutes and answered all my questions. I am 59 years old and I haven't experienced OLD SCHOOL HIGH QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE LIKE THIS FOR I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG. Thank you George and Josh. read more

Bob has gone above and beyond in taking care of his customers. I was having some problems with an older 2 stroke motor, and spent a lot of money on trying to get it up to where I wanted it to be. He was very patient and kind as I continued to have struggles with it. When the time came to upgrade, I purchased a Yamaha 4 stroke, which has worked beautifully. He even threw in a warranty, and gave me a great deal on my old one. Now I'm back on the water and fussing less, enjoying the time on the water more. Cheers!! read more

No doubt they can work on Cobalts. I have 2 boats and being from Florida I am not new to watercraft, owning jet skis as well and lots of other outdoor toys. In addition, I have decades being a "shade tree" mechanic. The outboard that I took to them, after obtaining a "coveted" time slot to bring it in has low hours, considered a very technical engine, was handed back to me with a response that I had done pretty much what they would do, and supposedly did do (analysis) and that they just couldn't find an answer, AND, they charged me to say that. I understand that if the engine is too complex for them to attempt to define the problem, then just say "this particular motor is too finicky / difficult, whatever adjective you apply", and is not within our scope of expertise. Wasted my time and money ! I have the same motor on another boat in Florida, took it to a shop after the boat and motor sat for a year (BAD THING TO DO) and, problem was diagnosed, took some searching ( no scan tool is going to isolate a problem) and fixed. The DIFFERENCE ? Experience !!!! I was ready to pay for their "expertise" after I had gone through numerous diagnostics. Just say NO, we do not know or do not have an interest in this motor ! read more

Great experience with service at Great Lakes Marine! I've got an older day cruiser that I took in for outdrive maintenance. The mechanic kept me informed all the way, was courteous, on time and the end price was even a little less than originally quoted. All the old repair items were given to me. I feel completely confident in the job done and the price paid. Quick note - they are booked out MONTHS in advance in the summer, it's not good to be without your boat but it is much better to get it repaired correctly and not get fleeced. read more

They get 2 stars because they are close to home... That's all I called looking for some advice on service and parts. After sitting on hold for over 5 minutes, I hung up and called back. This time Chris talked to me, told me they only look at service calls by appointment, the next available apt is over 3 weeks away and then they would look at it to order parts, another 2-3 weeks for parts to arrive and then they would install the cables and if needed a control for somewhere between $1k-1,200. And this is if the parts are available at all. He proceeded to tell me that they are obsolete and parts are not available. I went to Valentines marine, they had the cables in stock and I changed them out in about 3 hrs, first time I have ever worked on a boat. I'm sure having done it once, I could do it in little more than an hr now. Seems to me Great Lakes only wants to work on new flashy $60k wake boarding boats, not 45 yr old classic family heirloom aluminum cuddys. Their loss. read more

We have brought our boat to Great Lakes in the past. There had been adequate service until this last year. We had our boat "winterized" in fall 2013, and asked for them to fix the key/starter, as it was coming out of the dash. In the summer of 2014, we brought our boat to Pueblo Reservoir. It was the first time we put it in the water following the service by Great Lakes. It didn't start. We checked all the batteries and connections, we pulled off the cover of the outboard motor, we checked the choke and other switches. Nothing worked. We left the lake without leaving the dock, and took the boat to an authorized dealer about 25 miles from Pueblo. The mechanic checked the sparks, engine, batteries, and finally followed the wires leading from the starter to the motor. Under a panel, the wires had been disconnected by a person, and had to be reconnected. The engine now roared to life. A week later, we took the boat out on John Martin Reservoir. The engine started, but the key again fell out of the panel, and we had to hand wire it to get the boat started - the exact same problem it had the summer before when it was brought to Great Lakes. Not only was the key/starter not fixed; wires were disconnected and not reconnected to ensure the engine could start. The problem was made worse, and we missed a day of boating. We have had to bring it back in to get fixed - the right way - by another boat mechanic. I'm sure that the engine was never tested to see if it worked, or the disconnection would have been resolved. It is not satisfactory service. In addition, we find Great Lakes to be expensive, and it takes a long time to get an appointment - weeks. We will be taking our boat to another repair shop now, and not returning to this establishment. read more

I have not written a lot of reviews because I only do so when the business is worthy. I am so very pleased to do so with this business. I can see why this is a business that service built. George, Patrick and the actual Mechanic, Chris were MORE than helpful. What they said is what they did. This shop exceeded my expectations. I am so disappointed and annoyed in the customer service I received with this place. I called on Wednesday, March 1st to ask about a Super Air Nautique that was listed on the website and in boat trader. I spoke with Chris George who explained he owned the boat but was selling it through Grand Lakes Marine where he worked. I told him we were very interested but since there were only 3 actual photo's of the boat if he could send me more before we made an offer. I even said that I would be close to $40,000 and would he think that would work. I told him we were pre approved and driving from Aspen. No problem he would send photo's and we would talk more, even storing the boat till spring was no problem. No photos or calls to apologize that he never sent anything so I texted him Friday to ask where the photo's were. By Monday I called and left a message, texted again and finally on Tuesday I called the store and they put me through to Chris. He then told me the boat had an offer already with a walk through on the weekend and that they were going with that offer. Furiously I said to him I had no photo's or calls from him surely as an interested customer he would have let me know. He then blamed it on his boss who took the offer but it wasn't yet set in stone and he would let me know later that day. Then he asked what my offer would be which is so shady to see if it was higher!!!! When I asked about another boat he jumped all over it and said he would hold this for me no problem. By 4pm I tried to figure out the status of the boat and left him a message and texted - NOTHING. Worst customer service I have ever received - still no photos, communication or owning up to any standards. They have treated me like a used car salesman - I would never do business with this place and warn others of how you will be treated! I am reporting this type of service to the better business bureau. When I called to speak to a supervisor they refused and put me back on the phone with Chris - who at this point has done NOTHING! read more

I stopped by here with some questions about some older outboard motors i have and was pleasantly surprised when the owner took a half hour of his time to talk to me about my motors and my boat. He gave me his honest opinion on the motors and ended up saving me a lot of money. Fantastic guy and i look forward to giving them whatever business i can. I don't know the situations that led to these 2 star ratings, but encourage anyone who is reading these reviews to give this place a try and see for yourself! I left happy and will be returning. It's important to remember this is one of only a few marine mechanic places in the South Denver area and as a result are quite busy.
